It truly was odd how the world worked, not only that, but how demon blood arts worked, some could kill in an instant if one wasn't careful enough, others seemed to yield no true effects, and others well… they seemed to be able to bend reality, managing to bring the impossible to light.

This was something the young woman of only twenty five had come to learn the hard way as she had been living in exile from the demon slayer corps, she was unable to obtain intel on the demons she fought so she has to go in blindly. A mistake on her part, for in the midst of battle as she went to take the demon’s head the world around her changed in an instant, and the blade that was mere inches from the demon’s neck was now inches from the throat of a man-

The only thing she could do to keep from killing the man before her was to violently twist her body away, her blade flying from her hands as she toppled over him in a mess of limbs and fiery raven locks. As she finally pulled herself into a sitting position she was sitting upon the man who…looked just like her?

Her head would slant to the side as she stared down at her mirror image, blinking slightly in surprise as she took in his appearance, he wore similar clothes, the same hanafuda sun earrings- even their slayer marks were perfectly identical. The main difference between them was her more delicate features and filled out body.

“Who…are you?”

Life was fleeting, often passing by before one could fully grasp its essence. Each moment was distinct from the last, and each new second brought something new. The uncertainty of what lay ahead remained a constant; you never knew what the future may hold for you.     

Yoriichi understood this truth all too well, having learnt it through trials that left their mark. For a man who was blessed with the divine favour from the gods, for someone that had been gifted such extraordinary eyes, which could see through the veil of any living being—forseeing their each and every move even in the briefest of instants—yet he was blind when it came to what the future held.    

The imposing silhouette of the man remained seated near the engawa, carefully pouring tea into a delicate cup. His large, weathered hands cradled the fragile vesssel as he savoured a small sip. Outside, the night was serene; the moon cast a silvery glow, and the rhythmic chirping of crickets filled the air, accompanied by a soft breeze that played with his hair.

Yet, the tea was disappointingly bland. It wasn’t that he lacked culinary skills—not at all. In fact, he had once been a seasoned cook, particularly during the days when he once cared for his wife. He reminisced about the tender moments spent preparing meals for her, ensuring she had everything she needed while she carried their child, tidying the home, and allowing her the rest she deserved. 

But life always had a way of twisting unexpectedly for him. Twisting and contorting into something else entirely. Each tranquil moment, filled with the promise of peace, would inevitably plunge into shadows far deeper than he could have ever imagined. 

Yet, after a time, a semblance of calm returned to his existence. Days stretched endlessly, each one a mere echo of the last, offering nothing new to grasp. The life of a demon hunter, once full of purpose, had faded into a distant memory, forced to leave that life behind just the way he was forced to pick up the sword. The days dragged on, so much so that he'd just let time fly by him.; often finding himself in the stillness of his empty house with only the occasional visits from Rengoku and Sumiyoshi and his casual hunts of demons as he allowed himself to be withered away in his memories.    

He breathed out gently, raising the cup to his lips again to take another sip of the bland and distasteful excuse of a tea he had made himself—letting it seep down his throat, fully accepting the repulsive taste—embracing it.    

He had come to terms with everything the gods had laid before him. Resisting fate was pointless .  

The minutes dragged on as he finished the tea completely, pouring himself another glass. Drinking it down and pouring another one and another as the minutes seemed to stretch further, turning minutes to hours—until the kettle was half empty, similar to his own hunger. He found an odd sense of solace in this ritual, a comforting predictability that he embraced as he repeated the process over and over.

This was his life now—devoid of wishes or ambitions, for he had long since realised the futility of such desires. He understood that this was his conclusion—a life reduced to the monotony of the present. Time slipped away from him, each hour fading like grains of sand caught in a gust of wind. It was the end— 

*thud*     

A soft thud echoed as he unexpectedly sensed a strange weight above him. The kettle abruptly knocked over, shattering upon impact and spilling hot tea across the floorboards. What..? She had seemingly materialised out of thin air, wielding a katana that seemed to mirror his own. He observed as she deftly maneuvered to evade him, only to lose her balance, causing her to topple on top of the towering figure instead.  

“Who…are you?”  

It was a question he was grappling with himself. A random person suddenly materialising in his house without any explanation was something that certainly required an explanation. She was a woman—a woman just around his age. Her hair was jet black with red tips tied into a ponytail; she had a peculiar mark on her forehead, while her ears were adorned with dangling hanafuda earrings—no.. she even looked just like him as well—who.. was she?   

They were nearly indistinguishable from one another; their hair, earrings, their demon hunter marks, everything—they were like reflections of each other. The only notable distinction lay in the figure beneath her, who showed a more larger form. Although it was rather difficult to see because of the dim lighting, but the broad shoulders and a wider, muscular neck and chiselled chest that heaved with each breath were very apparent.  

"I.. am Yoriichi Tsugikuni.." 

The male answered; his low and deep voice was merely above a whisper. Quietly observing her sitting on top of him as he lay there motionless on the hard, cold floor. Something very unexpected had just happened.   

Once again, his life had unexpectedly twisted into something else.

As we all know, you are (technically) canon to ttsbc!! In the hermit-a-day may pearl art you were featured on the newspaper (let me live in delusion and not the reality that it was genuinely just a little easter egg)!!

I can't remember if khoir was also featured or not... nor do I remember if boo has been referenced in-universe

BUT!!! blackwell just mentioned something about a young woman in charge of running a publicity "blog".. now yes, I am aware this is most likely referring to "steel", the person who signs off on the blog every now and then (although me and many others assumed this was the director..). But. Once again. Let me live in delusion. Is this a reference to silver? Is silver canon to ttsbc now? Is STEEL silver? Oc time? Kinda like the director? (#trying to ignore the implications of everything that just went down and instead focusing on the silly. Im so unbelievably excited for this im going to explode)

Soooo...

My character in TTSBC is technically cannon, yes, but it's just a lil bitty thing. Amethyst runs the writers unions and conferences! So the fancy writers conference party that Scott, Pearl, and Jimmy went too in those whumptober pieces was put on by her company!

Khoir is also cannon to TTSBC, though again in a very minor but still fun role! They're a panda hybrid photographer who lives in the over-city! We've seen a few of their 'photos' by way of the art Khoir's illustrations for TTSBC!

Boo is ALSO cannon in a small way! They're a cat hybrid running a radio show, which you can listen to over on their A03 and tumblr!

As for the Steel/Silver situation, I'm gonna punt that too @silver-sunray themself! I think she'd do a much better job of explaining it that me!

oh don’t worry, Arcade will make it very clear quite quickly the pup doesn’t have special needs or in distress. That includes growling, biting, clawing, purposeful slapping, or purposefully making the fam uncomfortable by pulling their other 6 arms out in the really fucked up way they usually do. Plus, as much as they are a child, their species is naturally really intelligent even as pups, Arcade would eventually find a way around Eclipse’s code and chillax next to him on the couch normally

Squid is actually what they ate most often, other than snailfish (Yes, snailfish can be pets while others can be dinner) so don’t worry, they are completely okay with squid aslong as it’s relatively soft or chopped up!

Thats gonna be hell of a time to learn, but when they do, Arcade will be the happiest thing in that room. A bunch of curling up and eeping under the blanket. also, Arcade needs no pillows, it’s actually better for their still developing fins to have direct weight on them so they don’t develop to be too weak to be as agile as adult Arcade is.

Flare is going to hate it when Arcade likes him the most because the lack of facial expressions, because a lot of the human facial expressions are not used or signs of dislike. Most positive emotions are expressed through patterns or calls. So, Arcade will be confused less often by Flare and flock to him more.

Fish will eventually get tired of the constant affection, and will get snappy, but until then anything is fine.

Turning them into a pancake would be quite hard, they will instinctively slide away then start viciously attacking whatever foot dare nearly step on them. Shame on the foot.

The fam will also learn quite a lot about Arcade for whenever this wears off, cause the bab don’t know that Adult them hates sharing information about their past incase it’s used against them

the bab will be very confused on why the fam is so surprised to find out they have siblings, since it was never directly said to this SEA fam that Arcade had a pod. For all this fam knows, Arcade could be an unnaturally formed siren (aka sm who drowned in a storm and reformed as a siren, and some sirens can form like this, Arcade Didnt though) that just never found a pod and missed having a family. Since thats how they are portrayed in legends, and all the foundation knows is that they exist and are quite a big danger. Now they just have to be confused until something reminds the bab of a diseased siren they saw and eventually communicates something along the lines of: “is that like the disease (untranslatable parental figure word) told us is going around?” From there I bet they can connect the dots, especially because adult Arcade has been shown to be really susceptible to sickness.

Once they are not pup anymore and realize they told the fam some stuff abt their pod, Arcade will likely either lock themselves in a dark room and not talk to the fam until the two week mark and they need to go back to the deep sea, or the dive into the sea and don’t show their face for atleast a month until one of their deep sea friends bullies them into going back up to atleast to know if the fam uses this information badly

Killcode would just be staring at this tiny thing trying to maul his foot with such confusion it's unreal. He's just staring, trying to figure out what to do. I believe in baby Arcade tho, you can murder the evil evil feet little critter!

They clash so bad on this. Like the SEA fam is so focused on building strong bonds through touch, as well as other things, that they probably wouldn't really realise without Eclipse what's the problem of Arcade. And then it's just a rather sucky specie difference, because the deep sea siren isn't used to so much touch and doesn't like it, and the celestial SCPs need those. That's gonna be a fun thing to work around

The Arcade lore is safe with them. They're not going to do anything with it, especially because they might realise it wasn't exactly a conscious decision on Arcade's part, seeing as he's a baby right now. So they'd understand why they run away, thinking they're embarrassed, only to get progressively more worried as time goes on and there's no sighting of them. That'd not be fun for them

So where to start? Well for starters some might know that last year was a very stressful year for me dealing with stress and other factors that I don't feel like sharing here. And in all honesty I wasn't expecting this silly writing blog to become so popular but here we are. For that I want to do two things.

Firstly I want to thank each and every one who reblogged my content and I want to thank every person who followed me for said content. I'm really grateful that you all liked it enough to want to follow me! I especially want to thank all the friends and mutuals I made since making this blog:

Yoriichi felt a sense of familiarity from Fumiko. He could tell that she was physically about the same age, and her protective manner of speaking—it moved something within him. Her stubbornness, her concern for his well-being, and her rather tough personality—Michikatsu. 

A wave of nostalgia washed over him. Fumiko bore such a striking resemblance to his own elder brother.. someone he had once looked up to .. someone who he held so dear.. 

Yoriichi nodded as a soft and warm smile graced his features for the first time. 

"I see.. then, thank you.." 

Yoriichi noticed Onri's antics, and despite his expression remaining as impassive as ever, he couldn't help but feel a slight sense of amusement. 

It had been a while, and he knew that at this day and age, his child too would be around Onri's age. Jurai and Sumiyoshi were people who he had been there for him during his own tough times, and he had grown to feel a sense of a familial bond towards them. He believed his own family would have shared similar sentiments. Uta, Suyako, and Etsuho with their passion for cooking; alongside Onri, Sumire, and his own child— 

Yoriichi was a man with little words himself, and although he was deeply grateful for the care and thoughtfulness shown to him, he understood that he was likely nothing more than a burden to them—-

...It was perhaps.. best not to dwell on such thoughts any further..  

Yoriichi expressed his gratitude with a slight bow as he settled into his seat, taking out his katana and placing it on the ground to the side. The delightful aroma of the pork buns and soup permeated the air, and the food was exceptional as always. Despite his remarkable self-discipline, the sight of such appetising dishes after such a long time stirred a sense of impatience within him.  

"Ah, thank you.. for the food." 

Contrary to his impatient inner feelings, Yoriichi took a measured first sip of the soup, his eyes widening ever so slightly in pleasant surprise. It was.. delicious. He continued to savour each spoonful, quickly finishing the entire bowl of miso soup.  

"The food was amazing as always.. I enjoyed it thoroughly."  

Yoriichi refrained from taking the pork buns, choosing instead to allow the children to savour them rather than taking them away. 

Getting up, Yoriichi grabbed his katana and positioned it at his waist.  

"I sincerely appreciate the meal, Etuho, Jurai. But I think it is time for me to take my leave; I wouldn't want to overstay my welcome.."
