If you are amab, he would react: "What's that? A covid test?" Confused as to what it is at first, wondering if you had gotten covid or something. If not, once you tell him that you're pregnant, he'll freeze up. To be honest, he doesn't think he's ready to be a father. Plus with you being an idol and everything, it would be quite a hassle for the both of you. Don't get him wrong, he's very excited but given the circumstances, he's going to be very very very stressed. He'll make sure everything goes smoothly though! Once your belly starts getting bigger, he's making sure you're getting enough rest and convinces your manager to give you long holidays to make sure you're not overworked. He loves putting his ear to your belly too!

River Sterling

Let's be honest, the main character can bend every rule in the book, including getting men pregnant. Doesn't matter if you're cis or not, you're going to get pregnant. Though, he doesn't want a child at this moment, man loves his freedom. Plus, both of you are still in uni, there's still a lot of time for the both of you to try for a baby but...not now!

Liu Zihao

One word: overjoyed. He will be the happiest man alive, even if his face doesn't show it. Zihao already has the perfect family in mind, one with you in it. That pregnancy test is being hung up as we speak. He is very ready to be a father and have you as his husband. Expect beyond royalty treatment from him. Especially when your belly gets noticeably bigger. Oh the way he would pamper you all day, all week, all month, up until the birth. You'll probably be even more restricted though, being locked up in one room at all times with everything being tested for safety.

Han Minho

He thinks of himself as a more child free guy but..the thought of you being pregnant doesn't irritate him in the slightest. He's not oblivious, he saw the receipt for the pregnancy test wayy before you even showed him the positive sign. He may look calm at first but trust, he is is very happy to be starting a family with you. Regardless of your gender and how it's supposed to be impossible if you're amab. Once your belly grows bigger, he has these sudden urges to reach out and touch it every once in a while. He sometimes finds himself daydreaming of a family with you.

Xu RenFeng

A child isn't a must for him, a nice addition but not something major to him. When he finds out you're pregnant, he's not only shocked but finds it utterly amusing. Because who knows how your family would react. Same as Minho, he just has the urge to keep rubbing your stomach or lay down on it just to feel some kicks.

Vaelius Luminayre

To him, he must produce an heir, and it'll be possible whether you like it or not. A pregnancy announcement is already expected from you. He'll just be over the moon about it, talking about it like it's his pride and joy and showering you with even more love than before. He knows it's hard carrying a child so he makes sure that your journey of it goes as smoothly as humanly possible.

✮ You could say he gets into a lot of fights but in reality he just gets beaten up bless him, always got a damn nosebleed so all their shirts are a little stained from it, also their glasses are constantly taped together they need a new pair almost every month

✮ Had a crush on Anthony since the dawn of fucking time, they FINALLY got together at Anthony’s birthday/halloween party - illi is definitely a little grossed out by it but is sorta used to it now

✮ Bisexual with a preference for men (they figured that one out when Anthony got 10x hotter to them post transition)

✮ Plays up their asthma to get out of phys ed, his asthma is pretty bad but as far as the pe teachers know its deadly

✮ He’s in the AV club which is why he was the one to play their song through the speakers, it took illi about a week of convincing to get him to do it “BUT ILLI WHAT IF THE KICK ME OUTTT”

✮ illi tried to stop them from getting high for the longest time but after he got with Anthony he basically became the biggest stoner out of all of them

✮ Teases Anthony calling him a perv because he’s 18 and they’re 17

✮ He’s lowkey the biggest teachers pet and gets good grades - sometimes he’s the one helping illi with her work “its so easy you just have to-“ *continues to explain something so complicated you could faint*

Ray Ola, 18:

✮ Yes I named him Ray Ola - like crayola… LIKE THE FUCKING CRAYON HE WAS EATING LMFAO

✮ Pretty much dumb in every aspect, then he’ll bag a 99 on a test like it was nothing, illi and Anthony are in utter shock every time (with their Fs)

✮ He’s crushing on illi in THE MOST boyish way you can imagine - just doing fucking stupid stuff to impress her, I mean it works she’s sat giggling her ass off because she’s totally head over heels and who wouldn’t want to see their crush eat a crayon

✮ He tends to be pretty unproblematic socially, he’s definitely more of a loner than a weirdo but either way he’s an outcast like the other three

✮ He is basically first aid trained because of how many times he has had to fix Milli and Anthony up after a fight with some jock fuckers (whenever Milli gets picked on Anthony WILL NOT let it slide - they both get their asses kicked every time)

✮ Met illi on the first day of chemistry class, some one was about to sit next to her so he ran in front of them because he thought she was cute

✮ Turns out he only lives a block away from illi and Milli so they catch the same bus in the morning

✮ There is always something wrong with his uniform (untucked shirt, wrong footwear, missing tie, missing blazer)

✮ Him and illi were the ones who came up with the idea to make a song, it came to them when they were high and they started working on it the very next day

✮ Has never seen twilight and cannot fathom why illi and Milli get into such heated arguments over it

✮He is straight as far as he knows but every now and then he’ll question it - my bicurious king

✮ EVERYONE is waiting for him to ask out illi but he’s convinced she doesn’t like him back

Anthony Lero, 18:

✮ He is constantly getting into fights, if someone says something about him OR GOD FORBID ILLI, MILLI OR RAY he can’t hold himself back, consequently he’s always in detention (MILLI WOULD BE IN THERE TOO BECAUSE OF MUSIC IN CLASS WHICH MEANS ILLI AND RAY WOULD BE ALONE TOGETHER AS WELL - I DIDNT EVEN MEAN TO DO THAT LOL)

✮ He transitioned in middle school which was fucking ROUGH to say the least, so he’s built up a kind of thick shell

✮ Him and illi actually dated for a weird couple of months way back when - but it sort of just weirded them out so they decided it was better to just be friends

✮ HOWEVER they lowkey stayed friends with benefits for ages, like they explored each others bodies for sure - and probably did up until he started fancying Milli - illi was totally pissed they lost their fuck buddy but she knew Milli had a major crush on him and she had no feelings for him so she was ultimately happy for them

✮ He is a very touchy friend, kisses and hugs are all just friendly greetings to him (Milli is no where near as touchy or PDA so he always has them blushing with his gestures)

✮ He’s got a plan for some sick tattoos he’s gonna get one day - he’s already done a few stick n pokes himself, they’re extremely crappy but he loves them

✮ He lives on the other side of town to the other three, much to Milli’s dismay (“why should illi and ray get to spend all their time together when I have to go on an expedition to see my boyfriend”)

✮ He is a little fucking shit, constantly teasing illi and ray for being lovebirds - he always gets a kick out of how defensive they are about it

The Peaky Role (Part 28)

Pairing: Cillian Murphy x Reader

Warning: Age Gap, Best Friend's Dad, Smut

The following day, and after a long evening with your best friend Nina, who ended up rather tipsy before you got back to Cillian's apartment, your final day of filming loomed ahead.

It was a going to be a busy day but, luckily for you, you only had a few mundane scenes to do before you finished filming your first ever movie while Cillian, on the other hand, had a day off, spending it with his daughters.

"Ciara, let's go," he said as, by around 10 o'clock, she was still lying in bed while Nina was in the livingroom nursing her hangover.

"I don't want to go anywhere," Ciara groaned, pulling the duvet over her head.

"Too bad. You have to get up," Cillian replied, rousing her gently. "We're going to that exhibition you wanted to see."

Nina shuffled into the room, her hair a tangled mess. "What time are we leaving?" she asked as Cillian still tried to get Ciara out of bed, who groaned, fighting against the sheets.

"In twenty minutes, tops," he announced, shouting back at Nina while he had his hands on his hips, staring down at Ciara.

"Well, I am not coming," Ciara mumbled, her voice muffled by the covers. "And I want to go home!"

"Home?" Cillian raised an eyebrow. "You okay?" he asked, concern lining his voice as he leaned closer, scanning her face for signs of distress.

"I'm fine," she muttered, finally peeking out from beneath the duvet. "I just...I want to go home.This trip is just too much," she declared and Cillian became a little more serious, leaning in closer, hands resting on the bed frame.

"You'll like the exhibition. Trust me," he encouraged with playful excitement.

"Fine," Ciara groaned, rolling her eyes as she kicked off the blankets, reluctant but unable to resist his enthusiasm.

"Just give me five minutes," she muttered, dragging herself to a sitting position, hair a chaotic halo around her face while Nina was almost up and ready to go.

She tapped her foot impatiently, glancing at the clock. "Come on, Ciara. We don't have all day," she urged, hands on her hips with a mock glare.

"I'm coming, alright?" Ciara grumbled, swinging her legs over the side of the bed while Cillian quickly rummaged through his backpack, searching for the tickets.

"Got 'em," he announced, pulling them out with a flourish, his grin infectious.

"Alright, ready when you are," Nina chimed in, her eyes sparkling with excitement, already imagining the day ahead while Ciara was still in a bad mood after what, unbeknownst to Cillian, she had witnessed last night when she sneaked out to go to the toilet.

Having been half asleep she saw Cillian and you getting uncomfortably close on the balcony and, whilst she did not catch you kissing each other, she saw how affectionate her father was with you, a sight that now planted a seed of confusion in her mind.

First, the earring in his bedroom and then the strange connection blossoming between you and Cillian for the past two days had her feeling unsettled.

It left her uneasy and more curious than ever. Was her mother right in accusing him of cheating and did you, her sister's best friend, have anything to do with her parents separating?

These were all the questions that now swirled in her mind as she prepared for the day ahead and the fact that her sister Nina was so oblivious to the turmoil brewing beneath the surface between you and her father only added to her frustration.

...............

Meanwhile, on set, you had a different battle unfolding as Shaheen approached you, pulling you aside with anger etched on her face.

"You need to be more fucking careful, Y/N. Both of you!" Shaheen's voice pierced through the empty room you were standing in, sharp as a knife.

"People are starting to talk, and it's not just whispers anymore," she warned you before telling you that, last night, you were seen by one of the crew members.

"Seen?" you asked, unsure of what she meant.

"Out on the balcony, looking quite cozy with Cillian," Shaheen snapped, crossing her arms.

Your heart raced. "That's not—" you began to say but Shaheen interrupted you.

"Spare me the excuses," she cut in, her gaze hardening. "You both need to keep this under wraps and you are lucky that it was only Lindsay who saw you. Next time it could be someone else who doesn't know how to keep their mouth shut," she warned, her tone a mixture of frustration and concern.

"You didn't tell anyone else, did you?" you asked, eyes wide as you search her face for betrayal.

"No, of course not," she replied, her voice steady, a steely glint in her eyes. "But you need to keep your head on straight and, as for Cillian, he really should know better," she warned, her brow furrowing.

"Shaheen, it's not like that," you protested, heat creeping up your neck.

"Do his daughters know?" she asked with concern and you shook your head, lowering your voice.

"No one knows. It's just... complicated," you explained, glancing around to ensure no one else overheard.

Shaheen's expression softened slightly.

"Well, three people on set know, including myself and Barry. None of us will spill the tea, but god if the Paps or Cillian's wife get wind of this, it will become a PR nightmare," she warned, her eyes narrowing.

"They are seperated," you reminded Shaheen as if it matted, but Shaheen did not care.

"I am aware, but this woman is trouble and Steven hates her guts," she warned, her jaw tightening.

"She had Annabelle Wallis fired after believing that Cillian had an affair with her," Shaheen continued, her voice lowering as if sharing a secret.

"That's absurd," you gasped, suprised that Danielle, whom you had known for years, could believe that she'd actually been cheated on by Cillian with another actress.

"Yes it is, but it's the truth and, trust me, you don't want to end up on her bad side," Shaheen warned, her eyes narrowing with intensity and you nodded, considering the weight of her words.

Your stomach twisted. "I will be more careful, I promise. We're just... figuring things out," you managed, your voice firm despite the anxious flutter in your chest.

Shaheen studied you, her eyebrows furrowing slightly as if weighing your sincerity.

"I hope for your sake that this doesn't blow up in your face," she replied, her tone shifting to concern. "Because I really like you Y/N," she added and you nodded, feeling the weight of her warning.

"Thanks Shaheen," you answered, forcing a smile to mask the flutter of nerves twisting in your stomach before you were called back on to set and, it was after another intense two hours of filming and worrying about what Shaheen had told you that you texted Cillian, asking if he could meet you after the shoot.

Cillian, of course, agreed. He already knew what this was about and offered to come by at your apartment after his daughters had gone to sleep.

"Okay, I will stay up and wait for you," you texted back before making your way to the hotel complex to have a shower and settle down with a book in order to keep your mind off the upcoming conversation with Cillian.

At around 11 o'clock, finally, a knock startled you, breaking your reverie.

You opened the door to find Cillian standing there, his silhouette framed by the dim light from the hallway.

"Hey," he greeted, his eyes scanning your face, searching for any sign of distress.

"Come in," you replied, stepping aside to let him in and Cillian stepped inside.

"I know what this is about Y/N. Shaheen already called me today and shared her concerns," he said, but not looking worried at all as he approached you and caressed your cheek with his thumb.

"And listen, we need to be careful, alright?" he murmured, his blue eyes locking onto yours, filled with an intensity that made your stomach flutter. "But Lindsay won't say anything and neither will Shaheen and Barry," Cillian said as he stepped closer, his hands resting lightly on your hips, drawing your attention back to the weight of his presence.

"How do you know?" you asked and Cillian's gaze intensified, an unwavering confidence gleaming in his eyes.

"Because I have known Shaheen and Lindsay for a very long time and, well, Barry... he owes me one," Cillian chuckled, his voice steady, confidence radiating off him and, of course, you believed him.

You took a breath, your heart fluttering as his warmth enveloped you.

"Okay, but lets just be more cautious then," you replied, meeting his gaze. "There's so much at stake," you said and Cillian's eyes softened, a flicker of understanding passing between you.

"I know and we'll figure it out together," he assured, stepping even closer before finally leaning in, brushing his lips against yours with a hesitant softness.

You leaned into him, the warmth of his body igniting a spark deep inside.

"I can't believe that I won't get to see you for three weeks now," you murmured against his lips, the bittersweet reality hanging between you as Cillian's forehead rested softly against yours, a hint of frustration creasing his brow.

"We'll make it work," he murmured, his breath warm against your skin. "We can always skype or text," he told you and you nodded, locking your eyes on his before you bit your lip, feeling a tug of frustration mingle with longing and desire as you pulled him towards you some more.

His lips hovered just above yours, breath mingling, anticipation electrifying the air around you.

"Since Nina and Ciara are asleep, I could stay for an hour or two if you like," Cillian's voice trailed off, his gaze searching yours, anticipation dancing in his blue eyes.

"I'd like that," you replied, heart racing as you stepped back. "Although, I just got my period this morning so, I guess that puts a limit on what we can do," you said almost shyly and Cillian chuckled softly, his eyes glinting.

"That's fine," he replied, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as he leaned in closer, brushing his thumb along your jawline. "I still want to be close to you, regardless," he murmured, his breath warm against your skin.

You caught your breath, pulse quickening, a smile breaking across your face as you leaned into him.

"So should we settle on the bed then?" you asked, your voice low and inviting.

Cillian's eyes sparkled with mischief. "I thought you'd never ask," he replied, a grin spreading across his face as he stepped back and pulled you gently towards the bed.

You crawled onto the soft sheets first, feeling the fabric against your skin as Cillian followed, settling beside you, facing your direction.

He caressed your arm lightly, his fingers skimming over your skin.

"So tell me, other than the confrontation with Shaheen, how was your final day today?" he murmured, searching your eyes, a spark of curiosity mingling with his warmth.

"Exhausting," you chuckled, nestling closer. "But the scenes I had left to shoot were pretty mundane," you continued, rolling your eyes.

Cillian chuckled, his fingers tracing patterns on your arm. "Yeah I read them the other day," he said, his gaze steady on yours, radiating warmth, before he leaned closer and lowered his voice.

"You are so beautiful," he murmured, his breath sending a shiver down your spine before his lips brushed against yours, lingering, igniting an all-consuming warmth.

"You aren't too bad yourself," you murmured, a smile tugging at your lips, the playful tension between you electric before you kissed him back.

Cillian deepened the kiss, fingers tangling in your hair, heat igniting between you.

"You know," he murmured against your lips, "I could just do this every day," he admitted and you pulled back just enough to meet his gaze, mischief dancing in your eyes.

"That might be a little difficult, but maybe we could plan a little getaway after you finish filming here," you proposed, a playful smile tugging at your lips. "Just the two of us, hiding in a little cabin somewhere with some good books and records," you whispered, your eyes sparkling with anticipation.

Cillian chuckled, the sound low and rich.

"Sounds perfect," he murmured, his gaze steady on yours as he leaned in closer, the warmth radiating from him sending a thrill through you.

"We could set a date for that. Just you and me, away from all this," he suggested, a playful glint lighting up his eyes.

You nodded, excitement bubbling within.

"Well, it's not that I have another job to go to after this," you teased, a smile spreading across your face.

"You will get that role in the play in Galway," Cillian assured you, his eyes sparkling with confidence.

"You think so?" you asked, raising an eyebrow, feeling the hope swell in your chest.

"Absolutely. You're too good not to get it," he replied, leaning closer, his expression serious. "And I could make a call if you wanted me to," he then suggested carefully but you laughed softly, shaking your head.

"Don't go pulling strings for me, Cillian. I want to earn it on my own," you told him and his smile broadened, warmth enveloping you in the intimate moment.

"I know," he replied, his gaze steady. "That's why I didn't bring it up before," he told you as he leaned in closer, your foreheads almost touching before you leaned in once more, kissing him softly, the world outside fading away as you continued like this for almost two hours, just talking, kissing and being close to one another.

okay so! female shen jiu! let's talk about it! [long post warning]

so. i have a lot of thoughts about this concept/au. but like mostly in how it will affect shen jiu's general reputation/the rumours surrounding her (will be using she/her and feminine terms for shen jiu throughout this!). as well as the way her relationships with the people around her would change + the way shen yuan would navigate this world with the combination of his obliviousness + his perception of the genre he's working within + what potential romance with would look like in this au!

also you will have to forgive me in advance for the very western-centric arguments i will be making in this because. i am working off what i discuss at university which is unfair to apply to a chinese novel but! this isn't a serious critique as much as it is a fun thought experiment to run through because i enjoy applying these theories to things i read and enjoy. so take a lot of this with a grain of salt as far as serious criticisms go because i am not making any! just off-handedly discussing things i thought would be interesting to chew on in this verse.

rumours of lechery :

one thing i think would be interesting would be the way shen jiu visiting brothels would be perceived in this universe. i felt that in pidw, it was a problem because it compounded with the accusation that he preyed upon his female disciples. but in a universe with a female shen jiu, i think those rumours would be squashed before they even started. i know that it's popular to assume that homophobia doesn't exist in the svsss universe, which i'm pretty sure is implied canon and not fanon. but i feel this doesn't really account for lesbianism, which is veryyy absent from the novel past fanon extrapolated from a few scenes here and there. which is fair! the entire genre of the series revolves around a male x male pairing. i just guess i want to know in a more meta sense if airplane, while writing pidw, kind of wrote in the same invisibility of lesbianism into the work that would carry over when shen yuan eventually shifted the genre to a bl.

what i mean by invisibility of lesbianism is that historically, while homosexuality was prosecuted both as a mental illness and a crime categorized under sodomy (mostly due to the disruption of social order) there was a lot less scrutiny placed on lesbian relationships. mostly because they were essentially non-existent in the eyes of the law in the early? 18th and 19th century (feel free to fact-check me on this). as far as i recall this was mostly because without the actual like. act of penetration there was confusion on how sodomy between females would necessarily work. as well as the fact that female sexuality was something that the law was unconcerned with in general. but that's a bit of a tangent.

anyway! i bring this up because while the utopian view of homophobia as non-existent in the pidw/svsss-verse is awesome, i don't think there's necessarily evidence to argue that misogyny is treated the same way. which is important! because the invisibility of lesbianism is tied into both homophobia AND misogyny! which is a very roundabout way of saying that were shen jiu a woman in the pidw/svsss verse, there wouldn't be as severe of a case to make for her supposed lechery if she visited brothels because of the invisibility of female sexuality. and that even if she was having sex there, would they even necessarily know how to legally prosecute that?

also like. i know it can be tempting to argue against this as a concept because the setting itself has no homophobia at all so how can lesbianism be invisible but like! on a more meta level we have to keep in mind that airplane (who i'm assuming for the sake of this argument is a cis man because there is no canonical argument for any other conclusion, as far as i remember) wrote this novel, and the original novel inarguably employed misogynistic tropes in the creation of luo binghe's harem. and despite how shen yuan eventually shifted the genre, the original world he landed in was very much pidw before it started to morph around shen yuan's choices. which is again a very roundabout way to say that misogyny very much could still exist in this world because of the biases of its creator and the lack of evidence against it.

i'd actually argue that the existence of the brothel itself implies misogyny exists in the pidw/svsss world but that's neither here nor there.

anyway! a very long way to say shen jiu's original lecherous rumours very well may not have existed. and rather than the problem being her sexual life, it would be the disruption of social order (which can also be prosecuted under sodomy!). because i'm assuming with the reputation of the sect on the line and the seemingly accepted view of immortal cultivators as beyond earthly desires, the problem would be less with shen jiu's presumed salacious desires concerning her young female disciples but rather the disruption of these social norms put upon cultivators. but also sodomy wouldn't necessarily exist in this universe because of the lack of homophobia! so maybe the only rumours going around would be of shen jiu being a man-hating prude in comparison to her canon counterpart's more serious and lecherous accusations.

moving on!

relationships with people :

i feel that her relationships with the people around her would be changed, but only slightly. for example, with liu qingge, i recall that despite the two of them fighting and being at each other's throats most of the time, one of the most decisive moments for their rivalry/hatred of each other would have been when liu qingge dragged shen jiu out of the brothel and got in a fight over it. which i explained in the reasons above might not have been such a big deal now that shen jiu was a woman. but there would definitely still be animosity between them because of all the other usual reasons (mostly shen jiu's and liu qingge's attitudes and world views clashing).

which may even be exacerbating with shen jiu canonically being a woman in this verse! it's not stated too explicitly but i feel there is still like. a broader social acceptance of the fact that female disciples (ie ning yingying) need to be doted on and babied more. which could be misogyny in this universe rearing its head. so if you combine this with shen jiu's need to be strong while constantly lashing out at the world so she doesn't get taken advantage of in the way she was at the qiu mansion, you get a! very explosive, vindictive, delicate relationship that honestly probably fared worse than canon. i feel shen jiu would be twice as aggressive with men in this universe because of this perception of female disciples/cultivators. (i say cultivators but honestly i see less evidence of that here. maybe ning yingying was a fluke? though that begs the question of why there would be a peak of just female disciples if not for the existence of misogyny (specifically misogyny that affects cultivators as well) in this world!)

i think shen jiu's relationship with yue qingyuan would stay mostly the same. i don't have a lot to say about that, really. i think the devotion from yue qingyuan and shen jiu's hatred in return because of the misunderstandings between them is something that wouldn't be influenced by gender. though that could be a blindspot in my perception, hahaha.

there is a world where shen jiu is more aggressive with yue qingyuan for the same reason she's aggressive with liu qingge, though! maybe she sees his deference to her as something that is like. pity born of misogyny and mostly because yue qingyuan looks down on her on top of his guilt complex. in that shen jiu thinks that he assumes she's a weakling and thus needs his helping hand/his dismissal of her more abusive, violent and disruptive actions as a favour. i think maybe while they would grow up together and he might not necessarily ring the same alarm bells as other unfamiliar men for shen jiu, she would still be. slightly uncomfortable at the prospect of a man with so much authority over her paying her such attention. if that makes sense.

moving on, though!

qiu mansion and that whole mess :

take everything implied in canon and make it like. nine times worse. is the general vibe i get when considering that era of time in this au.

because! if i'm going off the baseline assumption that qiu jianluo is still attached to shen jiu and the implied sa that she faces still occurs here, i believe the arranged marriage would be made not between qiu haitang and shen jiu but qiu jianluo and shen jiu. which i feel would give him a lot more access to her as there would be little excuse for shen jiu to be hanging around qiu haitang as much as she did. though she would be roomed with the female servants in the house rather than the male ones, there is also the possibility that qiu jianluo would just repeatedly summon her into his room. though again, no homophobia in this verse means there's no reason for him not to do that in the canon, non genderbent verse, so things on that front might not change much.

the aftermath of the qiu mansion disaster though! i think that would be interesting to see. because i feel there is (unfortunately) a very different connotation between male slave forced to marry young woman of the household and female slave forced to marry young man of the household. while i don't know the legalities of it in this verse, i'm assuming based on the shen jiu's perceived crimes against ning yingying in pidw that this would be frowned upon. though it could also not be! because of the intersection of class dynamics and how technically, because shen jiu was a slave, she didn't really have rights in the first place.

either way, i think a lot of that trial was born out of shen jiu's deviation from social order/social norms and the issue of her engagement with qiu jianluo wouldn't be seen as a strike against her in this case. because i think people would have enough sense to see the power dynamics and lack of consent more clearly when confronted with a marriage between a teenaged female slave and a young male master. especially when compounded with the fact that the original charge of lecherous behaviour with ning yingying wouldn't carry much weight because of what i discussed concerning the brothels

the murders, though, i think she would be held responsible for that. there would definitely be a harsher view of that, i feel. mostly because like. it would be out of a woman's place to commit such bloody acts on top of it being such a violent crime? so there would be an argument to be made that in breaking social order by not being kind and deferential enough on top of going through with the murder of the men, she would be faced with harsher consequences.

simultaneously though there could be an in-universe argument made on the side of cang qiong mountain to claim insanity on shen jiu's part. similarly to how hysteria is seen mostly as a female malady and is a gendered/misogynistic diagnosis. but that's a whole other (mostly western centric, i feel) can of worms to get into. but just know for now that i think the hypothetical defences that cang qiong could give for the murder spree would also be misogynistic in nature.

shen yuan enters the narrative :

now i don't want this to get super long. so i will try very hard to keep this short. i think shen yuan would have a misogynistic viewpoint that would affect his understanding of his place in the plot when he is transmigrated into shen jiu's body.

i already went over the more meta aspects of shen yuan (who for the sake of clarity, i will say, is still a male in this au) and his experience travelling through the world in a female body. but i didn't discuss so much the narrative implications of it. because i think there would be! many!

for one, i think shen yuan would constantly underpin a lot of the interactions he has with the (male) peak lords/cultivators with his very heterosexual worldview. in the sense that he would assume there were romantic undertones where there weren't any, which i feel would be a baseline assumption he would make considering the supposed genre of the novel-brought-to-life he was living. we see so many times how shen yuan will look at a female character and immediately identify her as a part of luo binghe's harem. which i feel will carry over in his perception of shen jiu's lived experience as a woman. if that makes sense.

i also think. hm. how do i explain this. the way he would view his role when it came to any potential romance would be coloured severely by his modern understanding of shen qingqiu (assuming she was a lesbian, perhaps, because of her visiting brothels in pidw/her aversion for men) but also in relation to the people around her. i think he would only really see the possibility of a romance between liu qingge and shen qingqiu mostly because of the time they spend with each other in svsss and how he would assume that it would be the type of fan service airplane would indulge in for his very heterosexual audience of pidw fans. but as far as luo binghe is concerned, shen yuan would fall back very heavily on shen qingqiu's role as the scum villain to separate himself from any potential romance there. in the sense that he would focus so heavily on the teacher-student, antagonist-protagonist relationship between the two of them that he would? in a way. de-sexualize shen qingqiu entirely in his mind's eyes. so that the possibility of romance wouldn't even occur to him because narratively it wouldn't make sense for the hero to fall in love with the villain.

though that isn't to say luo binghe's love for shen qingqiu would be contingent upon gender. there exists a world where luo binghe is still attracted to women but doesn't necessarily create the harem and still only wants his shizun. i feel that the harem, while in a meta sense fed into the male power-fantasy of pidw, also was only like. a way for luo bingge to fill a gap in his lonely life. while this luo binghe would still need that gap in his life filled, he would only need to fill it with shen qingqiu's love because the way he would be treated by shen qingqiu in his youth wouldn't suddenly make him want all women. (because it definitely doesn't make him want all men in svsss). rather it would just make him want shen qingqiu.

all the while shen yuan would assume that luo binghe still wanted to kill him or when he does realize luo binghe's feelings, assume that luo binghe was only looking for a woman to fuck, to put it crudely. which would be cleared up during maigu ridge (specifically thinking about the canon detail of shen yuan turning his back to luo binghe only for luo binghe to turn him around. which i've seen someone analyze as shen yuan assuming luo binghe just wanted anyone while luo binghe wanted shen yuan specifically).

which. very roundabout way to say that i think shen yuan's obliviousness would manifest in different ways and his misunderstandings of the world around him would be because of his somewhat misogynistic viewpoints and desexualization of shen qingqiu to boil themselves down to simply 'scum villain' and 'antagonist.'

anyway that is. most of what i've been thinking about when it comes to this au. i hope this wasn't too tangential or didn't make sense because i am telling you now that i did not proof read it. i wrote this in one sitting and i will, in fact, be posting it as soon as i finish typing this lil outro. but if it did make sense then! i hope you found the more in-depth narrative and meta things i lined out here interesting. i know i did when putting this together!

thanks so much! I see a lot of transmasc vox on here (which I love!), but the backstory I hc for him is very distinctly amab (a lot of "you've failed at masculinity and you'll always be the sissy that gets pushed over at recess," which leads to a lot of overcompensation and insecurity in the future). he definitely had a "yeah my ideal body would be marilyn monroe's" moment in childhood and got bullied so hard he suppressed the fuck out of it lol.

6) I think a trapezoid is a good shape for him! it contrasts well with alastor being a kind of sly and striking triangle shape. trapezoids are more interesting and dynamic than rectangles, but are still more stiff and business-like than triangles (p sure I am completely misunderstanding shape theory here but it makes sense to me lmao)

vox is such a mess of vibes? like he's a cult leader he's a televangelist he's a hypnotist he's a business shark he's a tech CEO he's a newscaster he's a TV he's a computer he's a literal shark he's a mastermind he's a pathetic fanboy

still not sure which of those is the most important/what should be obvious in his design

obsessed with the concept of TV knobs as buttons but it's kind of old fashioned

I headcanon him as having been a nerdy kid that got kicked in the shins for being obsessed with TV/tech lol

also hc him as being vaguely and very obliviously transfemme; the buffness can also be overcompensating for a lack of masculinity both physically and mentally
