Hi! This is similar to the amina question you answered recently and sorry if you already answered this but how you pronounce lavinia’s name? I always thought it was LUH-VI-NEE-AH but I’ve been starting to doubt it!

Also I adore you books and mmu and tmoua thank you for helping my 9 year old figure out how to solve a murder!!

So I generally say it LAH-VINNY-AH, with the first syllable like you’re saying lavatory (sorry Lavinia) but LUH like you’re saying love would also work I think.

(I am braced for someone to come in and tell me I’ve been saying it wrong though, like the way I tend to say Lettice like lettuce/let us when really it should be Leh-TEESE. Names are hard!)

I'm not sure how to feel about The Ministry of Unladylike Activity, I like the "two main detectives" structure and I doubts Hazel and Daisy's dynamic can be equaled or topped, but i do have a countdown for 2022 alredy

Paris 13 : aux confins du street art

En plein coeur de Paris, le 13ème arrondissement devient un immense musée du street art à ciel ouvert. Initialement partie d’une volonté politique – celle de redorer l’image d’un quartier connu pour ses HLM – l’émergence des fresques politiques et sociales sur les murs de l’arrondissement a permis au 13ème de devenir un espace de création privilégié. Un rendez-vous à ne pas manquer pour tous les amateurs de street art

La plateforme d’analyses de données Twitter Visibrain a eu l’idée en octobre dernier de compiler les hashtags les plus utilisés par arrondissement dans Paris. Sans grande surprise, le mot-clé le plus utilisé dans le 13ème est le #graffiti. Peu à peu, ce quartier de la capitale a su se transformer en espace d’expression libre. Allées d’exposition à ciel ouvert, les avenues du sud-est de Paris sont désormais étudiées par les amateurs de street art, qui sont continuellement à la recherche d’une nouvelle pépite.

Un arrondissement qui voit en grand

Depuis 2009, le 13ème arrondissement de Paris observe une mue impressionnante. Derrière cette émergence de graffitis, la volonté politique du maire de redorer l’image locale. Le quartier est celui avec la plus grande concentration de HLM de la capitale. Les habitants et la mairie a donc lancé une impulsion de changement il y a neuf ans. Si l’intention initiale était animée par des motivations sociales, le street art a pris tant d’ampleur dans l’arrondissement, qu’il est même devenu aujourd’hui une attraction touristique.

Pour donner de la couleur aux rues parfois un peu ternes, le maire a fait appel à des artistes spécialisés dans les fresques d’envergure. Un pari réussi. En neuf ans, plus de 50 pièces ont ainsi été réalisées. Elles couvrent des pans de murs entiers, un château d’eau ou encore des façades d’immeubles. Les créations continuent de fleurir, sous le regard désormais habitué des passants qui ont pris le pli d’observer les artistes dans leurs nacelles.

Un musée à ciel ouvert

Dernière oeuvre (finalisée) en date, la Mona Lisa délicieusement colorée de Okuda. L’espagnol a réalisé sa propre version de la Joconde, sur la façade d’un bâtiment de la place de Vénétie. La fresque se dévoile entièrement dans l’avenue d’Ivry. L’artiste n’est pas le seul créateur de renom à s’exposer sur les murs des HLM du 13ème. Shepard Fairey (celui qui avait réalisé le fameux portrait de Barack Obama), Conor Harrington ou encore C.215 ont également collaboré.

Le quartier de la Butte-aux-Cailles joue le jeu, à sa façon. Petit village en plein coeur de Paris, la colline s’est elle aussi parée des couleurs du street art. Les projets sont à la hauteur des bâtiments, plus petits et permettent de valoriser des créations moins impressionnantes mais tout autant réussies. Les enfants s’enlacent, des bateaux en papier symbolisent la fragilité de la situation des migrants… Un passage obligatoire pour tout amateur de street art !

Hi!:) Do you think you'll ever write anything in the world of mmu with younger Hazel and Daisy again, for example more short stories, or are you going to stay in the timeline of tmoua from now on? :D

At the moment I’m focused on MUA - but honestly I’m not sure what the future will bring. The nice thing is that I could go back, if I wanted to, or keep going forward, or both! It’s a very open-ended world that I’ve set up.
