The Fellowship at a pool party:

Frodo: At first he probably is that one person who sits away from the pool with a book in his hands, every now and then smiling at his friends playing in the pool. As the day goes on and he's had like one or two ales, he hops in the water and his child-like hobbit personality comes out.

Sam: Drinks ale and shakes his head at his friends' antics in the pool. Has his feet dipped up to his calves and swings them in the water. Probably splashes at Pippin once or twice. If Rosie is at the pool party, he definitely eyes her and blushes vividly. If she asks him to swim tho, he will do it in a heartbeat.

Merry: Assuming the pool party has alcohol, he is drunk as hell. If there's no alcohol, there is now. Also works as the DJ, making sure the music is upbeat enough. LOVES diving and probably teases Frodo in the pool when he finally joins. Loves jumping in the water.

Pippin: You've never seen so many splashes. Water is everywhere. Keeps showing off his front flips to Merry and Boromir, but probably falls on his stomach everytime because in reality his trick jumps are not very good. Forgets to drink. Splashes everyone, especially Gandalf, Frodo, Merry and Sam on purpose.

Gandalf: Drinks his fancy umbrella and sparklers including cocktails on a sunbed and screams at Pippin whenever he bothers him. Has really dad-type sunglasses on and is high as hell. Doesn't swim.

Boromir: Plays in the water with Pippin and Merry. Is like a dad playing with children. Drinks quite a lot but still acts sober enough. Convinces Aragorn to join the swimming and playing with the hobbits.

Aragorn: Drinks some ale and talks some deep stuff with Gandalf. Observes Merry and Pippin to make sure they don't drown. Tries to convince Sam to join the fun. Eventually joins himself and is probably the one to bring water guns to the equation.

Gimli: Falls asleep on a sunbed and burns into tomato red. Hops for a swim immediately after in hopes of his skin cooling down. Calls Pippin and Merry young rascals because they keep squirting water at him with the water guns when running around. Eventually Aragorn shoots water at him and he grunts and angrily joins in, before warming up and also having fun.

Legolas: Floats on his back and admires the clouds in the sky, listens to the underwater sounds and doesn't even realize when there's water splashing on his face. Is the last one to leave because he forgot about time when floating and admiring the stars.

because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.

you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.

you fold yourself into a prettier paper crane. since you never know what is "selfish" and what is "charity," you give yourself over, fully. you'd rather be empty and over-generous - you'd rather eat your own boundaries than have even one person believe that you're mean. since you don't know what the thing is that will make them hate you, you simply scrub yourself clean of any form of roughness. if you are perfect and smiling and funny, they can love you. if you are always there for them and never admit what's happening and never mention your past and never make them uncomfortable - you can make up for it. you can earn it.

don't fuck up. they're all testing you, always. they're tolerating you. whatever secret club happened, over a summer somewhere - during some activity you didn't get to attend - everyone else just... figured it out. like they got some kind of award or examination that allowed them to know how-to-be-normal. how to fit. and for the rest of your life, you've been playing catch-up. you've been trying to prove that - haha! you get it! that the joke they're telling, the people they are, the manual they got- yeah, you've totally read it.

if you can just divide yourself in two - the lovable one, and the one that is you - you can do this. you can walk the line. they can laugh and accept you. if you are always-balanced, never burdensome, a delight to have in class, champagne and glittering and never gawky or florescent or god-forbid cringe: you can get away with it.

you stare at your therapist, whom you can make jokes with, and who laughs at your jokes, because you are so fucking good at people-pleasing. you smile at her, and she asks you how you're doing, and you automatically say i'm good, thanks, how are you? while the answer swims somewhere in your little lizard brain:

how long have you been doing this now? mastering the art of your body and mind like you're piloting a puppet. has it worked? what do you mean that all you feel is... just exhausted. pick yourself up, the tightrope has no net. after all, you're cheating, somehow, but nobody seems to know you actually flunked the test. it's working!

How well do you think the members of the fellowship would be able to drive

Hmm... Alright, here's what I think:

How the Fellowship acts in cars and can they drive:

Frodo: Great driver. Parks like a master. Probably takes care of his car a lot, unless Sam has already done it. Uses turn signals faithfully and is very careful when behind the wheel. His only driving flaw might just be that he drives too slow because he doesn't want anyone to get hurt, and sometimes Pippin tells him to 'hurry the fuck up grandma.'

Sam: A good driver. Sometimes drives recklessly because he needs to hurry to a flower store before it closes. Extra careful when Frodo is in the car as well. Loves to drive with his family. Uses the horn very easily, because he thinks no one else can drive for shit. Can't parallel park. Says "oh come on!" more than any other driver in the existence.

Merry: Has crashed a lot of cars into trees because he is a reckless and a bad driver. Parks sideways and annoys everyone else. Is probably the one who Sam honks at. Forgets where he left his car and always drops his keys. His car is probably so shit it has smoke coming out of it when driving.

Pippin: Can't drive for shit. Lost his license because he kept crashing to other cars' rears. Drives regularly with Merry on fields though. A passenger princess who puts his legs on the dashboard and chooses the music (which everyone else hates). Screams "LOOK! A COW!" more than anyone can handle.

Aragorn: Doesn't drive. Uses a horse.

Boromir: An ok driver. Instead of using mirrors always turns around his head like an owl. Doesn't use turn signals. When a deer crosses the road he screams so high one would think a fox did the noise.

Gimli: Always rides with Legolas as a proper passenger princess because he once lost his temper to a shitty driver (probably Pippin) so badly, that he was deemed too dangerous for the roads.

Legolas: Gets in near accidents every week because he keeps getting distracted by the beauty of everything around him. He sees a nice tree? Forgets to stare at the road. Otherwise a very graceful driver. Has a smile on the whole time.

Gandalf: You thought Merry and Pippin were reckless? There's reckless and then there's Gandalf. Keeps going over the speed limits, drives like a crazy person, screams at shitty drivers, doesn't use turn signals and probably has a sports car. Magically he never crashes. No one even knows if he has a license. Parks by drifting perfectly into a tiny space.
