On the far left of a walnut stained dresser sat a black picture frame, nestled inside was a photo of a smiling Dion and his family. Their arms, like vines, overlapped and tangled around one another, lovingly and sweetly contained by the other. A formless mass of matching blood and eyes. He had noticed it the first night they slept together, and continued to notice it every night he returned to the boy’s bed. Something pushed up against his chest, a warm hand on glass—smudging from sweat and heat, a flash of something human before the dark swallowed it whole again.

Dion, or Dionisio stirred from the space beside him, thick black strands of hair slick from sweat stuck to his forehead, a boyish feature Sebastian found himself hating more and more. He refrained from reaching towards him to remove said hair, kept his fingers in check even as they itched to touch. He didn’t want the little witch getting the wrong idea about him. He was not a creature made for affection but instead desire; as sticky and wet as the sweat on his brow. “You’re staring again,” he chastened at the other, his gaze heavy and warm in the cool of the winter night. That’s his cue.

Sebastian pulls himself out of bed, the white sheet that once covered him, fell to the bed with a sigh. He collects his discarded clothing, allowing Dion’s hungry gaze the pleasure of his naked form. Only after does he pull his briefs up the length of his legs, over his thighs, until he’s covered. “Staring,” Sebastian warns. He leans against Dion’s dresser, hands settled somewhere behind him to level the boy with a raised brow. Well?

A hand from behind him, slender and pale, finds the corner of a black picture frame. He smiles, molten lava, before turning the frame flat on its face.

Im glad you love my crackships actually hehe,i feel giddy a bit. I am curious how dionxmedea family react to the dekisxtherdeo family since they are both alike but different personalities. For rezef x therdeo snippets,I imagine rezef sees therdeo as another shining ray of hope for him since therdeo reminds him of cayena and also the fact rezef would quietly plot for dodoleas demise since he is mad how dodlea disturbs his nightingale(nickname for therdeo). I am curious how cayena and therdeo would interact since cayena is now therdeos sister in law.

Idk much about lou binghe (or where he is from, I think it's ssvss, so I can't answer about him) but I think the others would pair off.

Deborah is like the sister Kiera wishes she had (mind you she has a sister). Deborah is a hot mess but somehow always ends up looking cool infront of Keira

Lucas and Dion love to purposefully annoy Sebastian. Seb wants to have that chair? Lucas is already sitting in it. He wants that sweet? It's already in Dion's mouth.

Leilin with Karin. They talk about the differences between transmigration and regression(pairing them together cause I haven't read either of them but I know there plots sorta kinda).

Therdeo and Cayena get along great.At firat she sort of distrust him because he is dating Rezef so there must be something wrong with him! But she later learns he is cool.

Whenever Cayena and Therdeo hangout Rezef uses the time to observe his birds and plot to kill dodlea. He also stalks them cause he doesn't like them hangung out without him. (he is jealous and has issues)

Birthday Show! April 26, 2025

This is a photo of the University of Washington Young Socialist Alliance's birthday party for Trotsky in 1968 I futzed around for a bit thinking I might somehow fix the recording on this - it started recording late so it cut off some of my first mic break. Info: I entered @littledarlinhavefaithinme Sebastian Stan Summer Song Writing Challenge. I choose to do it based off of Lullaby by Shawn Mullins. So I loosely and I mean loosely based it off the song, where she grew up with Tony, and Bucky does quote my favorite line of the song at the end. Also big thanks to @coffeebucko for making my moodboard!

Synopsis: Bruce snaps everyone back into existence and Thanos is gone. 5 years have passed and many things have changed for Remedy Stark, she’s an older sister, her dads gotten married to her mother figure and she isn't sure where she fits in it all.

Remedy Stark was born at the tail end of the ’80s, her father couldn't tell her much about how she was born but he could tell her about her mother and the story of how she was brought to him. Remedy could recount the story of being dropped off at her dad, Tony’s front doorstep by her mothers grieving friend. How Tony took one look at six-year-old her and cursed under his breath.

Remedy started showing her mutant abilities just a few months after she had moved in with her father. Tony had been working with some tools when he cut his finger open, feeling bad Remedy walked over grabbed her father's finger and kissed it. After telling him it was all better Tony looked down to find it healed with not even a scar left behind. That night they sat at the breakfast nook where Tony made Remedy promise she would keep her powers to them, and she did till she fixed Uncle Rhodey’s broken arm.

Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Bono, Mariah Carey, 2Pac, Elon Musk, Madonna, Michael J. Fox, Kevin Costner, Liv Tyler, Whitney Houston, Richard Branson, Steven Tyler, Bruce Springsteen, Celine Dion, and Leonardo DiCaprio were among the few who partied at the Stark mansion, getting to see Remedy Stark grow up. She learned to speak many languages, her best friend was an artificial intelligence named Just A Rather Very Intelligent System, or Jarvis for short, her father created, till she went to a private charter school.

Now Remedy, wasn’t as smart as her father, but she did skip a few grades here and there, graduating at the age of 14 in 2001. The same year Pepper Potts entered both her and her father's life, she watched them dance around each other in fawning, praying for the day when either her dad grew mature or one of them made a move. That was also the year her second mutation activated, all Remedy had to do was think of a place she wanted to be and she would end up there, unfortunately, it happened in front of both Pepper and her father. It became a family secret.

Years went by, she watched the only woman she ever saw as a mother figure dive in love with her father, while he became a superhero. Aliens it turned out were real, a frozen super-soldier her father spent his entire existence in the shadow was alive, assassins could have their own family and be a damn good friend, also Nazis it turned out were still around.

Being called an Avenger was pretty amazing, but what felt even more amazing to Remedy was saving lives. Fixing the wrongs in the world that you could. Remedy found a family in the Avengers. Wanda was someone who was her own and that could relate to the pressures of being someone with powers. Steve soon after the battle New York, became her best friend, a brother she never she wanted, along with Clint and Sam. Natasha, well she was another Aunt and another mother figure of sorts who brought along Bey. Bey was Natasha’s child, her pride and joy, but also Remedy’s best friend.

Turns out when you get shocked by Thor when trying to save a small nation, well it can awaken hidden powers where you can open portals. Soon everyone knows your secrets and governments well they don't care that you are a Stark, or that you save lives, they notice the fallout you leave behind.

Remedy knew Steve and her father Tony getting along was never going to last, they always had a fallout but they always came together in the end. This time Remedy wasn't able to foretell the destruction, Thunderbolt Ross would have on the group. Remedy left to go bury her Godmother Peggy Carter, then the next thing she knew she was a wanted fugitive.

Tony wanted her to hate Bucky, for killing her grandparents she barely knew, but she couldn't find it in her. It wasn't Bucky’s fault it was the men behind the controls. She could be angry at Steve for not telling her father but she could easily forgive him attempting to protect his best friend, she would do the same for Wanda and Bey.

When it was all over, said and done, T’Challa welcomed Remedy along Bey to lay low in Wakanda when they weren't trying to be vigilantes. Pepper would meet up with Remedy behind Tony’s back, updating her on her father as well as her godfather. Always going their separate ways with a hug and tears in their eyes.

Than Thanos happened and one moment she was assisting Natasha to get up after healing her broken arm, getting ready to open a portal, next she saw her body turning to ash before her very eyes. Next, she was standing between Sam Wilson, Bucky with Bey who was transformed into a Mammoth with both Princess Shuri and Spiderman on their back, as they were being portalled back to New York.

Remedy fought long and hard, the burning feeling in lungs, long since came a constant reminder she was alive. Working back to back with Wanda most of the fight, sending people her way, or defending Spider-Man, or well Peter, he had stopped to introduce himself and to apologize for the black eye back in Germany. Yeah, she could grow to like the kid and could see why her dad did too.

Seeing her dad again for the first time in what felt like forever, was crazy, especially when Remedy half expected him to yell at her, instead he hugged her. Remedy honestly couldn't remember the last time her father had hugged her. He held her tightly to the metal suit he had long lost his helmet it seemed, Remedy could have sworn she felt tears hit her scalp.

“You are so grounded young lady, I don’t care if you are 30 years old, you are grounded! No television, phone, no boys, we are going to have a long talk about what it means to be a vigilante and not talk to our parents.” Tony broke the silence that surrounded them, trying to make his daughter laugh, while she tugged him down to dodge a laser beam heading their way.

Remedy wasn't sure how long the fight even lasted but for her, it ended with her on Bey’s Polar Bear form a few yards away from Bruce Banner who was in possession of the gauntlet. Bruce snapped and the next thing she noticed was the aliens they had been fighting were turning to dust. Thanos was defeated and all of a sudden it felt like a weight was lifted off their shoulders. Exhaustion hit Remedy hard and it was expected so the last thing she remembered was the white fur, hitting her face before she was caught by Clint.

The drive to wherever they were going seemed to drag on as Remedy got stuck between the two super soldiers, a guy named Frank Castle was driving and he wouldn't let anyone touch for stereo. Somehow Sam had won a coin toss and got to ride shotgun, while in the very back Bey was sharing their iPod with Wanda and Karen Page, was snoring.

When Remedy came to in the back of a truck that belonged to Castle, Pepper had been pushing her hair back. Tears had been cascading down her face even though she was smiling, Remedy had tried to smile but everything in her body has hurt. Pepper was in her suit of armor, Remedy remembered choking out the colors were far better than Dad’s, making Pepper laugh. Tony had leaned over the side of the truck kissing the crown of her head, reminding her favoritism sucked.

Soon they were invited back to Stark-Potts household because of course they got married, but it turns out they no longer lived in the city but out by Lake George. The two-hour drive listening to classic rock and alternative rock, barley any legroom, the constant sniff, and cough was starting to get to Remedy. Almost making her wish she had taken up the Peter Quill guy, or even Scott Lang offers up for a lift.

As Hozier’s voice crooned about how he should have taken better care of his lover, the road Frank had turned on to suddenly became bumpy. Steve sat up straighter, suddenly elbowing Remedy in the ribs with his sharp elbow, causing her to take a deep intake of breath. Bucky reached around Remedy smacking his best friend on the back of the skull, getting a laugh out of Wanda and Bey in the back. Steve gave her an apologetic look as they drew closer to a cabin that looked almost luxurious, right away Remedy knew this was one of her Dad’s places.

As the Range Rover came to a slow stop, Remedy noticed Happy, Pepper, and Rhodey standing on the porch together, with drinks in their hands. Remedy followed Bucky out of the car and saw the lake to her left, it's beauty was serene, she could see why Pepper and her Dad would settle here. Suddenly arms were around Remedy’s legs and holding on tightly to her, with no foreseeable plan to let go it seemed.

“Remy, Daddy said he would bring you home and he did! Mom said you would teach me how to play guitar and you’d Dutch braid. I’m so happy your home.” Remedy stared down at the little girl at her legs in confusion before she heard footsteps nearing, and a hand was placed on top of the little girls head. That hand is turned our belonged to her father and beside him was Pepper, both of which were smiling at her.

“Remedy, this is Morgan, we had her shortly after the snap. Morgan this is your older sister Remedy.” Tony was now holding Morgan in his arms, who continued to stare at Remedy was adoration.

“I know who Remedy is Daddy, I have her picture at my bedside, I tell her goodnight every night and I read to her. Well not her, the picture of her, but now I can read to her because you brought her home to us, as you promised!” Remedy felt her heart rate skyrocket, she had a sister, she had been gone five years and so much has changed. To the right, she could hear Bey screaming no, as Clint was saying sorry, everything felt louder, her breathing more shallow.

“Remy?” Pepper put her hand on her shoulder like she used to do when she was a teenager, and she felt the world was out to get her, but Pepper always reassured her, she was stronger than those who brought her down. Remy tried her hardest to smile at Morgan, but she felt perhaps it still came out more like a grimace than anything else.

“Morgan, it's so good to meet you. If you don't mind, I just need a second to catch my breath.” Remedy had reached over and squeezed her little sister soft delicate hand in a loving gesture before she turned away from her family. Her legs taking her out towards the edge of the dock of the lake, hands-on her hips she found herself struggling to breathe as her mind raced.

Where did she belong now? Why did she have to leave all those years ago, she should have come home with the tail tucked between her legs and signed the accords, they could have been a family. She had missed out on the wedding, the one she had wished for since she was a pre-teen, on her birthday cakes and falling stars. Tony had taken in Peter Parker, Spider-Man who was a pretty cool kid, but still, she missed out on seeing them interact. Here she was a big sister and she missed five years of bed life and yet she seemed to know everything about her, acted like she was the best thing in the world. What would Morgan think when she found out that she wasn't all that great?

An arm around her shoulder, the scent of metal, tea tree, sandalwood, amber, leather, and moss hit her nose, indicating Bucky was the one at her side. He ran his flesh hand up and down her arm, as he put his face in her hair shushing her as she began to cry. Remedy didn't need to be told that Natasha was also gone, along with Vision, people they lost in the war. Her family was falling apart and she felt so broken, yet here was a man she spent weeks on the run, months in Wakanda with, comforting her.

“I’m not sure about you, but I feel a little lost right now, but that's because we are in a strange place, but I promise you Remedy, you got me. You aren’t alone and we’ve got Sam and Bey as well as Steve.” Remedy kept her head in the crook of Bucky’s neck as the vibrations of his voice soothed her along with the smoothing up and down motions of him rubbing her back.

“Everything’s going to be alright.” Bucky kissed the crown of her forehead and looked out at the water while he just held Remedy in his. He vowed to keep her safe and maybe they could help each other piece themselves back together in this messed up world.

I started with Tash, then decided to only do the fun ones and add more characters. *shrugs*

The Basics

1. Age, Birthday, Star Sign (Tash only)

12-13 at the beginning of Inquisition, 15 at the end of Trespasser. Born 18 Guardian, 9:28 Dragon. Sign: Fervenial

3. Orientation and Relationship Status

Tash is a child, but when he is older, he will find he is gay. I kind of ship him with Kieran so that everyone is one big happy familly (Aster is cousins with the Hawkes, Cal adopted Tash, who eventually marries Kieran, son of Morrigan and Morgan.)

Owain is also a gay man who I have not yet settled on a canon relationship for. but whom I ship quite hard with @herald-divine-hell‘s OC Amayian Trevelyan

Henry is a panromantic asexual man whose relationship status I have not decided yet. Perhaps Cole.

Cal is a bisexual man married to Varric. 

Ava is a straight woman married to Sebastian but also in a polyamorous relationship with Fenris. 

Morgan is a biromantic and demisexual man in a committed relationship with Morrigan. Although I also ship him with @herald-divine-hell‘s OC Alexandra.

Aster is a homoromantic graysexual man married to Alistair. 

Katie is a bisexual woman and single. 

Reyn is a demiromantic bisexual man who I might decide to put in a relationship.

Unknown - although Tash does have a Marcher accent, slightly less thick than Blackwall’s.

Tash has a pet fennec fox named Harold. 

Ava and Cal have a mabari pet named Socks. 

Aster has a mabari hound that originally belonged to the late Elissa Cousland that he named Barksy, although to anyone besides Alistair or Aster, he must be referred to as Ser Barksy or Lord Barksy.

13. Have any kids?

Morgan, of course, has Kieran with Morrigan. He wouldn’t mind more if she was up for it. 

Cal has officially adopted Tash with Varric as of Trespasser. 

Ava and Sebastian are trying for an heir to the throne, although she may already be pregnant by Fenris. None of the others have children.

Owain, Aster, and Katie will want children eventually. It’s more complicated for Alistair and Aster since the Ferelden throne passes by blood. Aster wouldn’t mind taking care of Alistair’s child by a surrogate should circumstances prevent adoption.

Reyn doesn’t think children will happen for him, as a Warden, but should a child be born, he will love and care for them above all else.

Henry is undecided on children. As is Tash.

15. Can they sing? Can they dance?

Tash loves to dance and sing. He’s an average singer, but was trained well in court dancing, and enjoys making appearances at balls and events. 

Aster is more clumsy than a drunken druffalo, and is terrible at dancing, but he’s a surprisingly good singer, who would sing many duets with Leliana back during Origins. 

Cal and Ava only sing when drunk, although Ava learns to dance well. 

Owain both dances and sings like a trained bard. 

Reyn and Katie never sing, but both are passable dancers. 

Morgan likes singing to Morrigan and Kieran, and dancing with his wife (and occasionally with Zevran or Leliana), but isn’t comfortable with very many others. 

Henry can’t dance very well, and can only really sing in a crowd, but does both on his own anyway.

18. Have any special keepsakes?

Tash keeps a pair of specialized horn cushions Josephine had commissioned for him at Skyhold and finds them wonderful to sleep in. He also adores the handcrafted chess set he whittled with Blackwall. 

Owain will keep anything given to him or made for him by his lover, wearing it if possible or at least keeping it nearby. 

Henry has his phone, with all the memories it brings. It has long since lost its charge, but he keeps it close anyway as a reminder. 

Morgan has the ring given to him by Morrigan, as well as a smooth river stone that Kieran inscribed with the same rune Morgan has tattooed on his bicep. 

Aster still has the rose Alistair gave him, enchanted to never lose it’s beauty. It reminds him of his husband’s sweet nature. He also has a small figurine of a Circle mage that an older apprentice in Kinloch (Anders) made for him when he was very sad one day.

Katie has her charm bracelet from before she came to Thedas which acts like a talisman for her to know that she really did come from another world. 

Reyn has a scarf made for him by a stable boy he loved before leaving his family estate for the Academie des Chevaliers and a Dalish wedding ring given to him by an elven bride who he spared before going into exile and joining the Wardens.

Interests

19. Hobbies (Tash only)

Singing, dancing, writing, doing paperwork, chess, listening, dog care, designing fashion and furniture for the Inquisition, collecting Orlesian masks, and attending Orlesian theatre.

21. Fave food(s) and drink(s)

For some reason, Tash loves the notoriously awful-tasting Orlesian pastry known as the “Exquisite Misery.” It serves as an inadvertent power move in Orlesian circles, but his absolute favorite food is fresh-baked bread (reminds him of his home). Tash also enjoys hot cocoa ever since the Iron Bull shared some of his supply.

As a rule, Aster likes sharing Orlesian charcuterie with Alistair as a picnic in their chambers or the courtyard when they can get away from affairs of state. He’s also partial to fruit juices.

Morgan, Henry, and Katie all wish pizza was a thing in Thedas. There is a dish similar to it in Antiva, but nothing quite resembling it. Katie has gotten the closest to having actual pizza, being a noblewoman with cooks she can instruct. Morgan has inadvertently addicted Morrigan to coffee when he found out how to make it using magic. Henry likes water, but it’s hard to find a stable source of clean drinking water in Thedas. Katie adores tea.

The Wardens don’t often have fine food, and Reyn misses petit fours. He enjoys his personal Warden liquor mixture - Commander’s Concoction.

Tash is a timid person in general, and is afraid of miscellaneous things from spiders to dolls with buttons for eyes. But no real debilitating phobias. 

Cal, Ava, Aster, and Henry all fear spiders.

Owain hates heights.

Nugs freak Katie out.

Morgan and Reyn feel fear, but have no phobias.

Henry: Plucked cello strings. Inquisitive.

Cal: Brass section, room for improvisation. Bright and joyful.

Ava: Oboe and Bassoon, deep and reflective. 

Aster: Fiddles and flute, playing simple fast-paced dance music.

Morgan: Orchestration accompanied by electric guitar - shouldn’t work together but it does here.

Katie: Sharp woodwinds and guitar. Very formal, almost like wedding dance music.

So for the longest time I’ve wanted to do this because I’m always participating in writing challenges, but I’m a procrastinator so that’s self explanatory. Fandom: Glee Pairing: Blaine Anderson & Sebastian Smythe Supporting Cast: Sam Evans Words: 871 of pure fluffy, fluff Rating: G Summary: Sebastian begins to reconsider his “Anything for Blaine” way of thinking.  This is a repost of my Friday the 13th ficlet I wrote last year. I post this in the spirit of all the WIP challenge I’ve been seeing. It is not a WIP but has a part I wish I would have written differently the first time.

The first Friday the 13th of last year was in January. 

"I'm really sorry Seb."

"Je sais que tu es un tueur, mais c'est OK. Je t'aime tellement. Tu as de si jolis yeux. Et tes cheveux sont si mous maintenant que tu ne mets pas toute cette merde dedans. Et ton cul! Tu sais à quel point ton cul est génial, B? Et... "

"That's enough sweetie. The medication is making you loopy. Why don't you stop fighting it and take a nap? " 

"Okie Dokie. And Blaine?"

"Yes, Love?"

"I told you it was a real thing."

"Yes, you did. Now sleep."

Blaine fell back into the chair next to Sebastian’s bed. He was exhausted, but he knew things were far from over. Two hours later, Blaine was awoken by someone knocking at Sebastian’s door. “Hey Sam. Thanks for coming. Did you have in any issues with security?”

“You mean Tom and Frank?” Sam was obviously familiar with campus security "Now let me see what I'm working with."

Blaine walked over to his sleeping boyfriend and gave him a kiss on the forehead. Then he walked to the other end of the bed and pulled up the blanket.

“Wow! That is so much worse than I imagined. How did this happen?” Sam asked.

“Evidently my boyfriend with The world’s highest alcohol tolerance level for a 17-year-old turns into a giggly 12-year-old-girl whose favorite color is pink when on Vicodin.”

Sam went over to take a closer look at what he had to work with “Blaine, this cast isn’t pink. It is florescent pink. I don’t know if I have enough art supplies with me to “fix” this. Again, how did this happen?”

Blaine sat back down in the chair, put his head in his hands and whined “Because the universe hates me.” Sam shot his best friend a dirty look as he pulled out his markers. “Fine. All I wanted to do was go skiing since we had the four-day holiday weekend. We had never been skiing together before and all I heard about from his family in France was (cue overdramatic French accent) Oh, if only Sebastian would concentrate on his talent. He could ski in the Olympics! He ran his fingers through Sebastian’s hair and then let out a chuckle when he began to snore. “But every time I talked to Seb about it, he said no.”

Without looking up from what he was doing, Sam asked “What changed his mind?”

Blaine blushed before he admitted “Blow jobs.”

That got his attention. “Well, that would do it. Go on.”

“The whole day had this weird vibe about it. All these little things started happening. Seb couldn’t find his gloves. The bus was late. We got stuck in traffic. Jeff forgot his lift pass. None of us could get phone service when that had never been a problem before. And every time, Seb would say B, I told you we shouldn’t have done this. And every time, I would give him a kiss on the cheek and tell him he was silly. Then Boom! He’s cut off by an eight-year-old on the slope, falls, and breaks his ankle!”

Blaine got up and kissed Sebastian’s forehead again before taking a look at Sam’s progress “At least it’s only a hairline fracture and he only has to wear the cast for four weeks. Sammy, that’s really good. I can’t thank you enough for doing this.”

“Thanks, but I have another question. Why did he keep saying that you shouldn’t have gone skiing?”

“Big, bad, afraid of nothing Sebastian Smythe actually has one fear. He is afraid of Friday the 13th.”

“No, his big fear is one day you’re going to decide to go back to Kurt. FYI, if you ever mention you’re thinking about doing that I’m locking you in a room then you will watch as I burn all your bow-ties while a constant loop of Sugar singing My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion plays in the background.”

“Wow, you’ve evidently thought about this.”

“It’s good to be prepared but let’s get back to your explanation. Seb has Paraskev..ev?”

“Paraskevidekatriaphobia. Yes Sam, or Friggatriskaidekaphobia. Same thing.”

“Wait a minute” Sam stopped drawing and stood to look at his friend “You whined until you Olympic-level skier but Paraskevidekatriaphobe boyfriend went skiing with you on Friday the 13th and he broke his ankle?”

“Does it really sound that bad?”

Sam put his hand over his mouth so that his laughter wouldn’t wake up Sebastian “Dude you are going to be on your knees for the next four weeks!”

“Begging forgiveness?”

“Blow jobs” Sam corrected “Lots and lots of blow jobs.”

Note: Seb’s French dialogue via Google Translator "I know you are Killer, but it's ok. I love you so much. You have such pretty eyes. And your hair is so soft now that you don't put all of that crap in it. And your ASS! Do you know how AMAZING your ASS is B? And..."

This was the part that after I posted I wanted to change.

The deal should do little to stop the Bills from moving up in April’s draft to select a quarterback. However, Buffalo did address needs defensively by finalizing contracts for defensive tackle Star Lotulelei and defensive end Trent Murphy, as well as a pair of special-teams oriented players in safety Rafael Bush and linebacker Julian Stanford. — Mike Rodak | Analysis for every notable signing

The Dolphins made their biggest moves Tuesday, acquiring wide receivers Danny Amendola from the rival Patriots and Albert Wilson to make up for loss of the previously traded Jarvis Landry. Starting left tackle Nate Solder departed for the Giants, signing a four-year, $62 million deal, which leaves the Patriots a massive hole when it comes to protecting the blindside of QB Tom Brady. As for where the Patriots go from here, keeping an eye on the offensive tackle market — specifically with two of their own free agents, LaAdrian Waddle and Cameron Fleming — figures to be on the team’s agenda. Solder is now the highest-paid offensive lineman in the NFL by a wide margin, and while the Patriots hoped to retain him, they obviously didn’t feel comfortable extending themselves to that level. — Mike Reiss | Analysis for every notable signing

The Jets applied two Band-Aids to their quarterback situation, finalizing one-year deals with Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater. Now the focus at the position shifts to the draft. With the sixth pick, they will strongly consider a quarterback if the value is there. They added four other starters at other positions, all of whom are 28 or younger. The biggest splash was CB Trumaine Johnson, whose press-coverage ability is ideal for their defense. — Rich Cimini | Analysis for every notable signing

AFC NORTH

The Ravens lived up to their word in changing their look at wide receiver. Baltimore officially reached deals with Ryan Grant and John Brown after releasing Jeremy Maclin after one season. Parting ways with Maclin created $5 million in salary cap room. The Ravens aren’t likely finished. Baltimore has a visit scheduled with wide receiver Jordy Nelson (although it’s after Oakland, Seattle and New Orleans) and could look at tight end Eric Ebron. — Jamison Hensley | Analysis for every notable signing

The Bengals re-signed longtime punter Kevin Huber, which was key since they didn’t have anyone lined up to take his place. However, that was the biggest move in what was a slow day for the Bengals, as offensive tackle Andre Smith signed with the Cardinals. The Bengals have shown interest in re-signing Tyler Eifert and Russell Bodine, but as of now, they remain free agents. — Katherine Terrell | Analysis for every notable signing

Future Hall of Fame left tackle Joe Thomas announced his retirement. Though he told the team a few days ago, the Browns still have large hole to fill at Thomas’ spot. They’ve filled a ton already with John Dorsey’s trades and agreements, but left tackle is a need. Another big decision also awaits as Terrelle Pryor decides if he wants return to Cleveland, where he had his breakout season as a receiver. — Pat McManamon | Analysis for every notable signing

Rarely a factor in the first free agency wave, the Steelers stuck to housecleaning Wednesday with the release of three veteran defensive backs — Will Gay, Mike Mitchell and Robert Golden. The moves save more than $8 million in cap space and set the stage for future additions at safety, but the team has not been active on the market thus far. They have inquired about several inside linebackers without much commitment. Expect the team to get more involved late this week or early next as the prices drop. — Jeremy Fowler

AFC SOUTH

The Texans made necessary upgrades to what was one of the worst offensive lines last season, adding guards Zach Fulton and Senio Kelemete and tackle Seantrel Henderson. After missing out on Solder, who signed a huge deal with the Giants, the Texans are still looking for a left tackle in free agency. — Sarah Barshop | Analysis for every notable signing

GM Chris Ballard stuck to his word and hasn’t been a free spender despite having more than $70 million in cap space. The lone move the Colts made on the first day of free agency was agreeing to a three-year, $17.8 million deal, with $6.5 million guaranteed, with defensive lineman Denico Autry, who spent the past four seasons in Oakland. The slow start in free agency isn’t surprising for the Colts. That was also the case last season, as Ballard prefers to build the roster through the draft despite having needs at pass-rusher, receiver, offensive line and cornerback. Speaking of cornerback, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that Oakland and Green Bay are two teams interested in Rashaan Melvin, who was the Colts top cornerback last season. — Mike Wells | Analysis for every notable signing

The Jaguars landed guard Andrew Norwell, who filled the team’s biggest need. He was one of the league’s best linemen in 2017 and now the Jaguars have a stout left side with tackle Cam Robinson and Norwell. Other than re-signing receiver Marqise Lee, the Jaguars’ other signings aren’t that noteworthy. Niles Paul is a move tight end but how much of an impact he can make is uncertain. Per Adam Schefter, tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins is scheduled to meet with the Jaguars on Thursday. He’s coming off a career-high 50-catch season. — Mike DiRocco | Analysis for every notable signing

The Titans’ big moves Wednesday were securing their own by re-signing guard Josh Kline and defensive end DaQuan Jones to solid, but not flashy deals. The big splashes came Tuesday evening when they agreed to sign cornerback Malcolm Butler and running back Dion Lewis. Tennessee has made a few moves that signal they are ready to win now and more are expected in the coming days. Former Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne is expected to visit this week, and he’s an option to fill the backup role. The options at that position are dwindling so it’s likely the Titans will make a move this week. Losing Avery Williamson to the Jets creates a hole at inside linebacker that could still be filled in free agency. The Titans might also look into adding depth at receiver, safety or edge rusher in the coming days. — Cameron Wolfe | Analysis for every notable signing.

AFC WEST

The Broncos had a deal in place for quarterback Case Keenum, their top priority in free agency, before the period officially opened Wednesday. But in the opening hours of the new league year, the Broncos got started with some spot work on defense. Linebacker Todd Davis was re-signed on a three-year, $15 million deal and cornerback Tramaine Brock to a one-year deal. Brock has played both outside and in the slot in his career and figures to be a situational player on defense with plenty of special teams work. The Broncos are on the hunt for some additional help at cornerback and would like to sign a veteran tackle who could be an option at right tackle. — Jeff Legwold | Analysis for every notable signing

The Chiefs announced the trades of quarterback Alex Smith and cornerback Marcus Peters and their contract agreements with a pair of free agents, wide receiver Sammy Watkins and linebacker Anthony Hitchens. Their next move is to add a veteran quarterback to play behind starter Patrick Mahomes II. Mahomes is the only QB the Chiefs have under contract after trading Smith. — Adam Teicher | Analysis for every notable signing

The Chargers failed to make a real splash on the first day of free agency. Instead, Chargers GM Tom Telesco made a handful of sensible signings. He inked former Broncos blocking tight end Virgil Green to a three-year deal, and retained four Chargers free agents — tackle Michael Schofield, safety Adrian Phillips, receiver Geremy Davis and special teams standout Nick Dzubnar. Former Oakland Raider Sebastian Janikowski is set to visit on Thursday, and the Chargers still have to figure out if they will keep future Hall of Famer and unrestricted free agent Antonio Gates. — Eric D. Williams | Analysis for every notable signing

Officially, the Raiders were silent on the first day of free agency. This much was known, though, as Nelson visited the Raiders’ facility, Oakland re-signed blocking TE Lee Smith, tendered all five of their exclusive rights free agents in PK Giorgio Tavecchio, OLB Shilique Calhoun, OLB/DE James Cowser, S Erik Harris and OL Denver Kirkland and lost free agent CB TJ Carrie and free agent DL Denico Autry to the Browns and Colts, respectively. The Raiders had already re-signed DT Justin Ellis and signed WR Griff Whalen. MLB NaVorro Bowman, QB EJ Manuel, S Keith McGill and S Reggie Nelson remain unsigned, with Janikowski and LS Jon Condo both told in recent weeks they would not be retained by the Raiders. — Paul Gutierrez

NFC EAST

Anthony Hitchens officially joined the Kansas City Chiefs with a $9 million a year deal that was out of the Cowboys’ price range. The Cowboys entered free agency knowing Hitchens was likely gone but are currently sitting out the early market with eyes on players whose prices may come down in the next day or so. Linebacker is a need the Cowboys will look to fill in free agency and the draft. The next order of business could be restructuring the contract of Pro Bowl center Travis Frederick, which would create about $7 million in room. — Todd Archer

The Giants landed Solder, for a hefty price. He’s the NFL’s highest-paid offensive lineman after signing a four-year deal worth $62 million. He’s not enough though. The Giants still need more offensive linemen, even if they’re second- or third-tier options. Also keep an eye on free agent defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, who played for new Giants defensive coordinator James Bettcher in Arizona. — Jordan Raanan | Analysis for every notable signing

The Eagles retained a key piece to their defense by signing linebacker Nigel Bradham to a five-year, $40 million deal. He’s the type of aggressive, physical linebacker that defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz needs to support his attacking front four. Keep an eye on fellow linebacker Mychal Kendricks, who has been the subject of trade speculation for multiple seasons. The Eagles have spent the early part of free agency focused on defense; they should turn their attention to offense before long. Tight end, running back and receiver are three positions that could use some bolstering. — Tim McManus | Analysis for every notable signing.

The Redskins officially traded for quarterback Alex Smith, sending a third-round pick plus corner Kendall Fuller to Kansas City. The move was made on Jan. 30, so a key part of their offseason plan was finished long ago. They also signed receiver Paul Richardson, giving them a speedy target opposite Josh Doctson. Washington re-signed receiver Brian Quick. But the biggest news of the day was the exodus of quarterback Kirk Cousins (Minnesota), corner Bashaud Breeland (Carolina), linebacker Trent Murphy (Buffalo), receiver Ryan Grant (Baltimore) and tight end Niles Paul (Jacksonville). The Redskins hosted Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Tuesday; the money wasn’t yet right so he remains unsigned. But the Redskins otherwise had a quiet day with no other visits yet known. They had previously shown interest in Buffalo linebacker Preston Brown. — John Keim | Analysis for every notable signing.

NFC NORTH

The Bears officially announced their splashy free-agent signings of wide receiver Allen Robinson (three-year deal) and tight end Trey Burton (four-year deal). Chicago also added veteran quarterback Chase Daniel (two-year deal) to back up former second overall pick Mitchell Trubisky. The Bears also released three members of their atrocious 2017 free-agent class: quarterback Mike Glennon, wide receiver Markus Wheaton and cornerback Marcus Cooper. The Bears did most of their heavy free-agent lifting prior to the start of the league year, but general manager Ryan Pace is still looking to fill holes on the offensive line and at punter, where last year’s starter, Pat O’Donnell, is out of contract. — Jeff Dickerson | Analysis for every notable signing

The Lions had their biggest move be a subtraction Wednesday, surprisingly cutting tight end Eric Ebron after being unable to trade the former first-round pick. It leaves another hole for the Lions to have to fill as the only tight ends on Detroit’s roster are Michael Roberts, Hakeem Valles and Brandon Barnes — none of whom have much experience. This pushes tight end to a pretty high point as far as needs go for the Lions with many top free-agent options already headed elsewhere. Considering Detroit has focused solely on defense with its free-agent acquisitions thus far, figure the Lions will start to look at the offensive side of the ball tomorrow, perhaps with tight end or running back, where veterans Frank Gore, DeMarco Murray and Jonathan Stewart have reportedly been on visits. — Michael Rothstein | Analysis for every notable signing

The Packers didn’t make an official moves on Wednesday; they did their heavy lifting on Tuesday when they agreed to terms with tight end Jimmy Graham and defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. Neither deal was announced on the opening day of free agency but they should be finalized on Day 2. That’s when the Packers could turn their attention to their biggest hole: cornerback. They’ve expressed interest in former Colts cornerback Rashaan Melvin. — Rob Demovsky | Analysis for every notable signing

The Vikings took one step closer to solidifying their quarterback room with the addition of Trevor Siemian via a trade with Denver. That was the only move Minnesota made at the beginning of free agency, and it’ll take until Cousins signs his fully guaranteed deal for the team to decide how they’ll be able to re-sign other players they’re interested in keeping (Joe Berger, Tom Johnson, Shamar Stephen). Cousins dined with Vikings brass at Capital Grille on Wednesday and will tour the team’s new facility in Eagan on Thursday where he is expected to sign his contract. — Courtney Cronin | Analysis for every notable signing

NFC SOUTH

The Falcons addressed a need on the offensive line by reaching a three-year, $12.75 deal with guard Brandon Fusco. Upgrading the interior of the line was an offseason emphasis to have better success in short-yardage situations and protect Matt Ryan. Fusco, with 80 career starts, should step right into a starting role at right guard after playing in a similar scheme under former Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan in San Francisco. — Vaughn McClure | Analysis for every notable signing

Re-signing 38-year-old defensive end Julius Peppers was critical for Carolina’s offseason plans. They get a bargain one-year, $5 million deal for a player that tied for the team lead in sacks a year ago. Now the team needs to find a tight end to join Greg Olsen with Ed Dickson testing the market and/or a second-tier safety to replace Kurt Coleman. — David Newton| Analysis for every notable signing

The Saints haven’t done anything too dramatic in free agency so far, but they’ve followed a formula that has served them well during the Mickey Loomis-Sean Payton era — focusing on the “second tier” of free agents. They signed LB Demario Davis, CB Patrick Robinson and backup QB Tom Savage on Wednesday after signing veteran safety Kurt Coleman last week. The $8 million per year payout (according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini) for Davis is a little surprising, since they’re already well-stocked with inside linebackers. And they paid a premium for both Davis and Robinson after career-best seasons. But they have signed several guys who can help without taking any major risks. It’s still possible they could make a big splash (at defensive tackle perhaps?). But they have shown restraint so far. — Mike Triplett | Analysis for every notable signing

The Bucs kicked off free agency by re-signing several of their own including wide receiver Mike Evans, tight end Cameron Brate, backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, safety Keith Tandy, linebacker Adarius Glanton and running back Peyton Barber. Then, after missing out on pass-rusher Trent Murphy, they signed two run-stuffing defensive tackles in Beau Allen and Mitch Unrein and inked kicker Chandler Catanzaro to a three-year deal worth $9.75 million with $3.75 million guaranteed. This means that for the sixth-straight year, the Bucs will have a different kicker. Offensive lineman Matt Jensen also took a visit with the Bucs on Wednesday night. He’s scheduled to stay through Thursday morning before heading a visit in Indianapolis. — Jenna Laine | Analysis for every notable signing

NFC WEST

The biggest move by the Cardinals on Wednesday was the release of safety Tyrann Mathieu. After the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement on a pay cut, Arizona cut the 25-year-old who had become a face of the franchise. The Cardinals were also linked to two offensive linemen — Andre Smith and Justin Pugh. Thursday could be an important day in the quarterback department for the Cardinals with the possibility of them putting pen to paper with Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon. — Josh Weinfuss | Analysis for every notable signing

The Rams didn’t add any players on the first day of the new league year, but their four big trades — acquiring Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters, parting with Alec Ogletree and Robert Quinn — were officially processed. The Rams are still looking to add edge rushers and run stuffers, and general manager Les Snead said Wednesday he’s still hopeful he can address those needs via free agency. Snead is also in talks with the representatives for center John Sullivan and outside linebacker Connor Barwin, both of whom he would like to bring back. The 49ers made a not-so-surprising change at running back, allowing starter Carlos Hyde to leave for Cleveland while signing the smaller and more explosive Jerick McKinnon from Minnesota. McKinnon’s contract raised some eyebrows but he’s the kind of player Shanahan covets because of his speed and ability to make big plays. Shanahan is clearly hoping McKinnon becomes to the Niners what Devonta Freeman was for him in Atlanta. The Niners have filled important needs at running back, cornerback and on the offensive line but there’s still work to be done. The Seahawks’ first addition of free agency was former first-round pick Barkevious Mingo, who signed a two-year deal. Pass rush was among Seattle’s top needs heading into free agency, and Mingo helps in that regard while also giving the Seahawks an option to start at strong-side linebacker. That doesn’t mean the Seahawks are done adding to their defensive line. Sheldon Richardson is still unsigned and ESPN’s Dianna Russini reports Seattle is interested in Suh, who would be a nice fallback option if the price isn’t too steep. DeShawn Shead, whom Seattle hoped to bring back, instead signed with the Lions. So a major void remains at cornerback with Richard Sherman gone and Shead no longer an option to replace him. Looking ahead, the Seahawks have a visit scheduled with Jordy Nelson, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He can almost smell it, the mildew of a humid summer morning, the sweat. He can almost feel it, the granules of dirt and dust beneath his feet, the grime hidden between his sheets and legs. If he closes his eyes, he can slip from the body he inhabits now and transfer to the body he had then. A body trapped in a two bedroom house, sweaty and bruised but at least he'd been whole. Hands press against his chest, still warmed from the heat of his magic, from the skin of his thighs, and push him away. He lets his weight rest against those paled hands, lets himself be held up and away by weapons of the sweetest design.

His expression is pinched, tight with words he thinks but does not say. He was a coward, Sebastian thought, exhaustion pulling at his bones, but he didn't chose Dion's company for his bravery. He considered the boy beneath him from narrowed eyes, lashes thick and black as smog. I never asked for your secrets. Hadn't he? His beating heart, that frightened bird with clipped wings, hadn't it given him away? Would it learn to fly again? For both their sake, Sebastian hoped it wouldn't.

Would this have been easier had Dion met his more human counterpart? Or did he prefer the misery Sebastian brought him, half fractured? He supposed it didn't matter much anyway. That boy was long dead and with him, that house, that bedroom. All that dirt returned to it's rightful place.

"You're so boring when you pretend to be someone else, Dion," he withdraws from the bed, from his hands and his once welcoming body. His tongue is a dagger, silver and pointed, ready to hit its mark. "What happened to that boy I met not two months ago? Puppy-eyed and eager?" Sebastian pulls his shirt on now, covering himself completely.

         ━━━━        AS THE WORLD AROUND THEM FADES INTO INSIGNIFICANCE, all dionisio can sense is the intoxicating pull of sebastian's presence. the air in the room humming with electricity, tangible and charged. it crackles between them, puncturing dionisio's skin and fueling the heat spreading through him like a wildfire. his heart pounds in his chest, a primal drumbeat echoing through his very being.

i chose you for a reason.

the urge to push sebastian away was strong, dionisio wanted to break whatever spell that had woven itself around him but he couldn't bring himself to move. there was something terribly addicting about the way sebastian made him feel — wanted, desirable, utterly helpless. it was a heady sensation, intoxicating and terrifying all at once.

sebastian's hand had slid over dionisio's navel, up his chest, before settling on his throat. his touch was cold, icy, and tingling, like a thousand tiny needles pricking his skin — a sharp contrast to the warmth dionisio typically felt. it sent a shiver down his spine, his breath hitching, a mix of fear and excitement coursing through him. he could feel the blood pounding in his veins, hear it rushing in his ears, a deafening roar that threatened to consume him.

he was given no time to reply before sebastian's lips were pressed firmly against his, fingers tightening around his throat. dionisio could taste the lingering sweetness of his blood, a metallic tang that danced on his tongue. the kiss was fierce and demanding, the type of claiming that left no doubt as to who held the power in this exchange.

how was it possible to want everything and nothing at once?

slipping his hands, now cooler than before, out from beneath his thighs, dionisio applies a subtle pressure against sebastian’s chest to push him away. even as he put distance between them, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was merely playing into sebastian's hands. "i never asked for your secrets," dionisio finally managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper. the words hung between them like a gossamer thread, delicate and easily broken.

Sebastian. A name made to be a warning, a haunting reprisal of mercy begged for and ignored. He sighs, slow and petulant as he tears his mouth away from his skin. A glance is thrown to the boy's hands, sweetly tucked beneath his thighs, he fights the urge to pull at them, to wrap a hungry mouth around the longest fingers and suck. He wondered for a moment what it would take, how many hours he'd have to reserve to lick Dion down to the bone?

A thumb swipes across the blood pooling at his hip, like paint smearing on hardwood floor. He took pleasure in seeing his thumbprints stamped on his skin, just like he took pleasure in the fresh indents of his teeth—a perfect replica of his bite—dotted caverns made by him and him alone. He wasn't sure why he reveled in that ownership. Residual male hormones? He lays his head on the boy's stomach, black curls tumbling over and around his line of vision. Sebastian shuts his eyes, presses his ear to Dion's skin and waits for the rumble of his heartbeat to fill the empty space inside his mind. What was it like to have a million thoughts roaring in your head instead of the stifling silence Sebastian was often left with? Would he prefer the noise? One beat. Two, three.

Why did his heart run when he remained in place? He knew why. "It's not unimportant to you though, is it?" Four. Five. Six. He knew he should go, he was already short on time before he arrived at Dion's door, now he was just pushing it. Fluttered lids open to reveal eyes so dark they come away black, lifeless if not for their fury. "You hide from me when you shouldn't. You think I haven't noticed, little bird, but you're wrong." Seven—eightnineten. "I chose you for a reason," he slides a hand up his stomach, over his chest, settling at his throat before wrapping around it comfortably.

"I'll tell you a secret," his voice is low, black silk under a midnight sky, "I like you, just as you are." Eleventwelvethirteenfourteen. "Don't tell anyone," his fingers constrict around his throat, and he smiles—smiles before pressing a bruising kiss to his mouth.

         ━━━━         A FEELING REMINISCENT OF RELIEF washes over him, glad sebastian leaves certain words unspoken. the message is there, loud and clear. dionisio does not need to hear it to know. this is sebastian at his best, this too, is something he knows. it is too late, the boy’s already in his heart and he suffers.

the familiar weight of his body causes the mattress to sink down and the witch shifts uncomfortably, having hoped sebastian would leave it at that. that he would turn on his heels and lock the door per usual. it seems, however, that he has different plans tonight. plans that dionisio, for once, wasn’t exactly looking forward to.

before he has the chance to remove himself from the situation, from him, the brunet is being spoken to — asked a question he’d prefer not to answer. little bird. how despised and yet revered the nickname was. a song sings from within his ribcage. hungry, antagonizing, ruthless. strength is not something dionisio possesses. not anymore. not for a long time. and so, he is astonished by his sudden will. astonished by the way he does not instantly obey. even as the linen cloth is torn from his body, even as lips, teeth, and tongue find his skin, there is nothing but silence. but… is it strength? or fear?

don’t, he wants to beg. the fire at his fingertips grows stronger and he slides his hands beneath his thighs. just as he did the first time his best friend kissed him. silence turns into sighs, into parted lips and heavy lids. torture, is what this was. he was sure sebastian was aware of it. it was obvious in the way he smiled at him before canines broke skin and spilled ruby red. “sebastian,” the boy warns, taking a deep breath. he doesn’t know why he still attempts to regulate his heat with breathing exercises — it never worked, it never would.

“what for? whether i’ll miss you or not is unimportant to you. it’s all the same.”

If he'd been the type of man with a working heart, the kind that hurt when those he kept close hurt, then maybe he would have been bothered by Dion's failed attempt at callousness, but he isn't, so he wasn't. "Don't I always?" His tone is unhurried, a perfectly smooth lake untouched by any current of irritation. He pulls on a dark pair of black jeans, straightening his back and leveling the boy with a disinterested look as he zips them closed. "I'm going out of town for a few weeks," so don't come looking for me, was left unsaid. It was a larger courtesy than he offered most, much less to those he slept with, but he had grown....fond of Dion. Fond? Perhaps not fond, but he didn't feel like killing him most days and Sebastian figured that must count for something.

He takes a seat on the edge of his bed before tugging on his long black socks, then his sleek leather boots. There was a speck of blood on the rounded corner of his left boot, he makes a face at the stain, as if his displeasure alone could evaporate the offending mark. Sebastian turns his gaze behind him, to Dion who still laid in bed in all his naked glory. His face was all sharp edges, but it didn't matter much, his eyes were too soft to deny his deer-like nature. What did that make me? A wolf. A hunter. A thing that devours. He turns towards him, crawls to him on hands and knees slowly, like a wolf closing in on his prey. And because he can't help himself, "Will you miss me, little bird?" His fingers grip the soft linen sheet covering Dion and with a quick sharp tug, pulls it away. He lowers his head towards the boy's right hip, pressing a kiss there, chaste almost in its touch. That doesn’t last long, soon his lips are parting, tongue pressing hard against the skin he finds there. His licking turns to biting, teeth tugging at the pale flesh. He tastes of sweat and something sweeter, vanilla?

Sebastian eyes him from below, smiling something awful before sinking his teeth into his hipbone. He enjoys the way he squirms beneath him, a deer struck at the neck by sharp canine teeth. “Say it, little one. Say you’ll miss me,” another kiss, softer, as if apologizing for the sharp sting of his teeth.

        ━━━━         SOMETHING SEARING HOT burns through his body. it begins at the center of his chest, traveling to the tips of his fingers; it claws at him, begging to be free. as persistent as a gaping wound. the feeling was familiar to him, though unnamed. it was first felt when he was a boy, perched on his mother’s lap as his father brought out a kitten no larger than dionisio’s head. the boy had reached out for the delicate creature, and when his fingers came in contact with its white fluff, he singed it. despite no harm coming to the kitten, five-year-old dionisio refused to come near it again for months, overtaken with guilt. the next time he felt this heat, this slight, aching discomfort, was when his best friend pressed a kiss to his cheek. eight-year-old dionisio knew better. he knew his touch meant harm and so he stuck his hand beneath his thighs. was the cause the same as it was then? love? was his heart beginning to swell with that wretched, consuming thing?

you’re staring again.

and what of it? he thinks but does not say. no, he lies in silence, watching as sebastian swings his slender legs over the side of the bed. he watches, something feral and hungry in his gaze, as sebastian gathers his clothing and slips his briefs back on. then, he’s warned. this time, dionisio listens. he averts his gaze and swipes a warm hand over his forehead, brushing back the strands of hair that had collected there. his obedience doesn’t last and his eyes find the contours of sebastian’s body once more. only this time, the ferity gone, but replaced with something as equally horrid. something akin to disappointment.

he knows better. this is how it goes.

“will you lock the door on your way out?” an attempt at putting distance. an attempt to douse the heat.
