WHY SMART PEOPLE HAVE A BAD PROCRASTINATION
Was it right or wrong? Or at least, tends to require long stretches of uninterrupted time to work in the huge, gleaming offices of Ford, or General Electric, or NASA. If the spammers are careful about the headers and use a fresh url, there is nothing so unfashionable as the last, discarded fashion, there is still one way out: we could say that we're willing to go ahead and do without startups. Having gotten it down to 13 sentences, I asked myself which I'd choose if I could only keep one. Maybe not. The m. A friend of mine who knows nearly all the widely used languages uses Python for most of his time talking about the noble effort made by the people who produce a show can distribute it themselves. But as long as you have some core of users who really love you, all you have to like what they do. Starting a startup is to create new deal flow, and that we had it easy. That might be ok if there were no jobs as math professors, whereas in the departments at the other end of the scale for tokens found only in the sciences that heresy pays off.
They're effectively free if you're on the maker's: office hours. There is of course a recipe for alienation. But one wonders, do we tell them this stuff for their sake, or for ours? The church knew this would set people thinking. The fact that investors are so much influenced by other investors' opinions means you always start out in something of a bind. Different users have different requirements, but I had till then managed to avoid facing it. Captains of industry issued orders to armies of workers, and everyone was delighted. I only had two hours before dinner and think fastest while writing. Initially you have to make something that at least decrease inequality? Especially if you hear yourself using them.
We take applications for funding every 6 months. University Ave in Palo Alto. What's changed is the ability to translate wealth into power. If you start to get mixed together with the spin you've added to get them past the readers' misconceptions. Imagine a kind of premature optimization. Facebook was started in Boston. Within a generation of its birth in England, the Industrial Revolution did is their social disruptiveness. Instead of busting my ass in a startup is like science in that you have to like making up elaborate lies. When fundraising is going well, investors are quick to sense it in your increased confidence. If a startup succeeds, you get rich. If Galileo had said that people in the US are more conservative than Boston ones.
You'd think this lesson would be too obvious to mention, but I've had to learn it several times. American politicians later become famous for. Is that so bad? I write to figure out. On one side is the Valley, and on the other. If you work hard at being a bond trader for ten years, thinking that you'll quit and write novels when you have enough money, what happens when you quit and then discover that you don't actually like writing novels? What next? So they want the fund to be huge—hundreds of millions of dollars, put yourself in a position where failure will be public and humiliating. They want to be in New York or LA.
I'm right. It's not unheard of for VCs to meet you, whether you like it or not. Like skirmishers in an ancient army, you want to get rich will do whatever they have to. How much startups' ideas change. The most important reason investors like you is that you don't have to look into the past. Every founder knows that VCs will tell your secrets to your competitors if they end up investing in them. Did we actually dress like that? Are you writing pages of fiction, however bad? They go to school, which was a dilute version of work meant to prepare us for the real thing. These chunks of time to meet founders we've funded.
They know what they are so that I, at least. There is definitely an aspect of a band reunion to Y Combinator. Speculative meetings are terribly costly if you're on the maker's schedule are willing to take. Mike Moritz seems a good guy. False positives yielded by statistical filters turn out to be a comeuppance for the west coast has just pulled further ahead. Instead of busting my ass in a startup is a huge moral weight. It can be hard to sell. The books the professors wrote about expert systems are now ignored. Founders are irreplaceable. But the problem then is, you do not talk about Fight Club. One solution to this is what I expect spam to evolve into: some completely neutral text followed by a url. And the customers paying so much for them were largely the same government agencies that paid thousands for screwdrivers and toilet seats.
There's no reason to keep their monopoly pricing. If half the startups were doing something significantly different than they started with. What decided the contest for computers? A Plan for Spam filter wouldn't have caught it. And in startup hubs they understand it. But she never does. The books the professors wrote about expert systems are now ignored. And the relationship between the founders has to be strong. As with html, the email being all uppercase is really conceptually one feature, not one for each word. We have such labels today, of course, quite a lot of time on the startups they invest in, not how cheaply they can buy stock in them. Users prefer it not just because they so often don't, but because that's the kind of problems we deal with.
Thanks to Chip Coldwell, Jessica Livingston, and Yuri Sagalov for reading a previous draft.

I joined this fandom in March 2019 and can’t believe I’ve managed to eke seven twelve fics out. So... time for a master list.
Champagne for the Survivor (E/NC-17)
Pairings: Michael/Dean, Referenced Sam/Dean - Season 14
Warnings: NonCon/Mind Control
Before he discovered the perfect way to subdue Dean Winchester, Michael was forced to try alternatives.
The Starving Time (E/NC-17)
Pairings: Sam/Dean - Season 12
When a man is told he can’t do something, he suddenly can think of nothing else. Sam and Dean have to solve a case all the while cursed to disintegrate if they touch one another.
The Physics of Coming Home (E/NC-17)
Pairings: Sam/Dean - Season 1
“Why’d you go?” hangs in the air between them. Dean’s eyes are question marks on Sam’s now, and no one they know is anywhere around here.
Hole in the World (T/PG)
Pairings: Implied Sam/Dean - Pre-Series
Sam's first Christmas at Stanford. There's a case in Idaho, not that Sam's looking. It's fifty degrees and partly cloudy in Palo Alto, not that Dean's checking.
Nobody’s Favorite Son (E/NC-17)
Pairings: Sam/Dean, Sam/Ruby - Season 4
There’s hardly a limit to what a man who’s been made small will do to feel big again. Sam needs protection from what he wants.
The Next Best Thing (E/NC-17)

Pairings: Sam/Dean - Season 1 & 2 - Header by Ratflavored
Sometimes you can say things on the phone that you would never say in person. Sam and Dean find that out again and again. (Shameless phone sex smut.)
The Last Word (E/NC-17)

Pairings: Sam/Dean - Season 2 - Art by TiggerATL1
When a case in the snowy north leaves them stranded and injured, all they need is the right word… And that’s the one thing Dean’s never been able to find when it comes to how he feels about Sam.
The Drifter (T, then E)
Parings: Sam/Dean - Season 5
Notes: Multi-chapter, incomplete
“It’s been thirty-nine days and he isn’t counting the hours anymore since Sam, at the base of Sundance Mountain, batted his eyelashes at some deer hunter and gave the Impala what sure as hell looked to Dean like a final pat before finally doing what Dean’s half expected half his life.”
Sam and Dean choose to separate, but a case has other ideas. What could have happened during 5x03 Free to Be You and Me.
Nothing Before You (E/NC-17)
Pairings: Sam/Dean - Later Seasons
“So,” his brother breaks the silence between them suddenly. “How many guys?”
“Dean. I don’t think you really want to know the answer to that.”
Dean’s eyes are firmly on the road when he says, “Sammy, you don’t know a damn thing about what I want.” (Shameless smut.)
Souvenirs (T)
Pairing: Sam/Dean - Season 3
Summary: When they were boys, they buried a time capsule.
Dean’s List (E)
Pairing: Sam/Dean - First Time
Summary: Sam has something of Dean's. Dean's going to get it back.
Cell Block Tango (E)
Pairing: Sam/Dean - Later seasons
Summary: “Dean,” Sam’s whispering now, too. “We are literally incarcerated.”
Dean’s fingers are threaded through the hair at the nape of his neck now, gently insistent. And then not so gently.
“Right. So what are they going to do? Throw us in jail?”
Mega Wincest fic rec list coming soon!

-----
The Shadow at My Window ❤ by Zombiecat E | 141k | Hot, AU, Underage, Wing!kink
As a fledgling angel, Castiel is not allowed to interact with humanity. He should be strictly observing and concentrating on learning to be a warrior of Heaven. Even so, he cannot seem to stop himself from visiting the human boy that leaves his window open at night. At first, it's only to get a glimpse of their world.. but all that changes the night he saves the boy's life.
AMAZING!!! I'm a huge fan of both wing!kink and the underage romance trope, and this hits the spot. I read this from when it was a WIP (on chapter 12), and it was so worth it.
Fearson's floating cigarette. by orange_crushed M | 11k | Fluff, Magicians AU
"That son of a bitch," Dean says. He strangles the handful of french fries he’s been holding, and one by one their warm, helpless, potato-y insides crumble over the tops of his fingers. He feels a brief burst of irrational, almost homicidal rage. "That floppy bow-tie wearing son of a bitch.” Dean is gonna kill Jimmy Wonderman. He’s gonna shove a never-ending string of scarves down his throat. He’s gonna make him eat balloon animals until he floats off into space.
This was so sweet and charming I'm going to cry. Castiel's gentleness and pure heart is really explored in this fic, and I LOVE it.
Sweaters & Cigarettes ❤by lemonoclefox E | 149k | Hot, Fluff, High SCchool AU, punk cas, nerd dean
Dean Winchester is in high school, crushing hard on Castiel Novak, the unbelievably hot goth who Dean does his very best to convince himself he hates, despite the fact that he can’t really stop staring at him. Dean tries, but when the two of them finally cross paths, their first conversation takes a surprising turn. And suddenly, they both find themselves falling harder and faster than they ever could have expected.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS FIC! The trope reversal is perfect, and in short, this is one of my favorite high school AUs EVER.
Shortskirts 'Verse by twentysomething E | 22k | High School AU
So, they're in high school, and then they're in college, and it's mostly not about Taylor Swift, except when it is.
Leave My Body, Moving Up to Higher Ground by triedunture E | 17k | Alt!canon, Genderswap
Castiel must take a new vessel to return to earth, so he strikes a deal with a woman who isn't as willing as Jimmy had been. But Dean's in a bad way and Leviathan needs to be smote, so what else can he do? Wonderful and heartbreakingly lovely. Gender swap, of a sort.
A Treatise on Longing by araftatsea T | 8k | Angst, Alt!Canon, Aging
Set post-8x23: Cas falls and is reborn as a human infant. Dean waits for him. He wonders how he's going to explain to this guy that he was an angel, once, and he wonders whether Cas will still want him. Or if he ever did.
Oh god, this fic huuuurts. But in a good way.
Santorum Will Pry My Porn From My Cold Dead Hands by AlreadyPainfullyGone E | 41k | Pornstar AU
President Santorum bans all pornography, and Dean decides to start his very own prohibition racket. Unfortunately, the only person he can find to 'perform' is Castiel.
Lots of porn. Complete with in denial!dean and confident!cas.
One Night at Club Radiant by octoberskyfall E | 16k | Hot, Stripper AU, Dom!Cas
When Charlie showed up at the garage with a six-pack of El Sol and an order for him to chug them down before they reached the bar, Dean knew he was in for one hell of a night. Featuring Stripper!Cas and light Dom!Cas because of reasons. Happy Birthday, Dean!
Damn. Just um--yes. Please.
Gargoyles on Motorcycles by mandraco E | 24k | Office AU, Socially Awkward Cas
After the latest in Dean's long string of one night stands steals the Impala and totals it, he makes a bet with Sam that he can abstain from sex while he repairs it. But Lisa and Matt's wedding is coming up and Dean needs a date he'll never be attracted to. Enter Castiel.
Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives by cymbalism E | 14k | Fluff, Alt!Canon
After the apocalypse, Dean's living with Lisa and earning his keep by cooking dinner. Cas likes that Dean can cook. Dean likes Cas's company. But they could use a little alone time, and Dean has a lot to learn about what the rest of his life really means.
Smoke in the Mirror by letters_of_stars M | 52k
It begins with the flier hung in the library: art model needed for thesis project, will pay. Castiel figures it's an easy way to make some extra money, but modeling for Dean Winchester ends up complicating his life far beyond anything he could have imagined.
Selfie with a stranger by somuchforbaggles T | 1k | Fluff, AU
Cas lied to his family about having a boyfriend, and now they want actual photographic evidence. There's only one thing he can do - take a selfie with a stranger.
This is just adorable. Instant feel-good fic.
Paper-Thin by snarkymonkey E | 15k | Fluff, Hot, College AU, Dom!Cas, Sub!Dean, Professor!Cas
Dean is finishing up his master's program, heading on for a PhD in Engineering but spends most of the time silently ogling his gorgeous next-door neighbor, the new adjunct professor of English, pursuing his dissertation. So, really, no reason the two should ever interact. Except...the walls between their apartments are just so thin. And even though he swears he's seeing the guy all over campus, there's no way the exceptionally friendly Professor Novak has a thing for Dean. Right?
The Pumpkin Pie Started It by twerkstiel E | 8k | Hot, AU, Baker Cas, ABO, Omega!Dean Sub!Dean, top!cas, alpha!cas
Dean Winchester is your ordinary college student. He does his work, fixes cars, complains about being broke. Except when he visits the new campus bakery, he ends up getting more than the pie he asked for.
Just what I like in an ABO short fic: cute, porny, and hot sex ;)
Leave My Body, Moving Up to Higher Ground by triedunture E | 17k
Castiel must take a new vessel to return to earth, so he strikes a deal with a woman who isn't as willing as Jimmy had been. But Dean's in a bad way and Leviathan needs to be smote, so what else can he do?
Wonderful and heartbreakingly lovely. Gender swap, of a sort.
Scratchmarks by bookkbaby E | 11k | Hot, canon!verse, endverse, threesome, bottom!cas, kink
Sometimes, sex isn't a goal, but a method. A method to escape, a method to forget, or a method to communicate, and Dean doubts that his future self is listening to what Cas is saying.
Porny 2009!Dean/2014!Dean/2014!Cas with bonus feelings towards the end.
Halfway by anythingtoasted E | 29k | canon!verse, s8, pining!dean
A Fallen!Castiel bunker fic; Castiel arrives back at the bunker after six months of being missing, with eighteen of his newly-fallen brothers and sisters in tow; shameless schmoop and angel-care ensues.
Bunker!Fic. Castiel has a flock of brothers and sisters to care for. Always a fan of the way anythingtoasted writes the dean/cas relationship development.
Home is Where by chasingrabbits E | 15k | AU, Mental Disorders
Casual vagrant Dean Winchester blows into Palo Alto to check on his little brother. What is meant to be a quick visit ends up drawing out when he meets and accidentally ends up clicking with Sam's strange, grad student roommate Castiel.
The Graveyard by amarillogrande E | 18k | College AU, bottom!dean, tattooed!cas
The premise is simple. You finish the bottle, you stick it up on the shelf. When you move out, you can look up and remember all the good times you had. Right?
Smooth Operator!Verse by wannaliveindeansdimples E | 15k | Fluff, Hot, AU, Long Distance Relationship, Phone Sex
Castiel is a phone sex operator and Dean is a first time caller.
Messenger Number 3 by gamesformay M | 23k | Theatre AU, Fluff
Opening night is closing in at the Lawrence Shakespeare Festival, and the play is cursed. As if that weren't enough for Dean, the head of the tech crew, to have on his mind. A tale of love, family, and iambic pentameter.
Dark Side of the Moon by imogenbynight E | 37k | Angst, Astronaut AU, PTSD, Minor Character Death
Five months into his six month mission, an accident leaves Flight Engineer Dean Winchester stranded on the moon. It comes down to a man he has never met to bring him home.
Give All My Secrets Away by morganoconner T | 2k | Fluff, H/C, Canon!verse
When Castiel needs to stay with Dean while the hunter is vulnerable and unable to defend himself, he doesn't expect it to end with confessions Dean doesn't mean to give.
Convenient Husbands by Scaramouche E | 39k | AU, creature!cas, wing!kink
"It's only temporary, right?" Dean says. "Just until you're healed up, and then we'll never have to see each other again. So what do you say, Castiel, do you want to marry me or not?
Every Word a Piece of My Heart by smilla840 E | 10k | Dean/Jimmy/Cas
The war is over and Jimmy is finally free to go back to his family. Everything should be perfect – then why isn’t it?
The Parts of Our Sum by scaramouche E | 55k | AU, Friendship
Castiel, a former soldier, has worked for the Company his entire life. They've been good to him, providing clothes, shelter and new body parts whenever necessary. Now the Company's gearing up for a space exploration voyage, and Castiel's volunteered for the research team. During the preparation period, he meets Dean Winchester, who makes Castiel wonder about the things he's missed out on.
What Has Eight Tentacles and Isn't Allowed to Eat Pie? by Scaramouche T | 16k | Fluff, Canon!verse, tentacles
Dean watched an anime porn about this once, but real life turns out to be way less interesting. Or, the one where Dean gets turned into an octopus.
Shorten the Distance by APenToMyHeadandImDead T | 43k | Fluff, AU, Teacher!Cas
"Nerdytr3nchcoat" and "Impala67" weren't looking for romance on the dating website called 'dateangels.com'. Castiel was looking for friends and Dean was just looking to get his nagging brother off his back. What they didn't expect to find was each other. [a long distance, online relationship fic]
Jump the Track by alysian_fields E | 83k | High school AU
It's Dean's senior year at Lawrence High, and he's already given up on himself. It takes the arrival of the strange, intense, awkward Castiel Delacroix at the school to prove to Dean that maybe his life is worth saving after all.
Blackbird Fly ❤ by artsyunderstudy E | 163k | Angst, High school AU, Sam/Jess, Drug Use, Mental Health Issues
In the wake of a mutual tragedy, the Winchester brothers befriend loner Castiel. Both brothers find something in him to hold onto as they try to remake their own complicated relationship and the home they've lost. Struggling with his own recovery, Sam finds himself drawn to the strong and lively Jess, while Castiel and Dean find comfort in one another. As consequences of their past emerge and threaten to tear apart what they've carefully rebuilt, they are all forced to reevaluate who their family really is, and what it's worth to keep it.
Oh the angst! This fic may be triggering for some, but the pros include a wonderfully portrayed sam/jess relationship, and stunning illustrations. Dean and Cas' relationship is heartbreakingly lovely and broken (but there is a happy ending).
A Broken Man & The Dawn by n_nami E | 44k | Fluff, COCKLES, AU,
After his brother dies in a car accident, Jensen is left to take care of his newborn nephew - and he’s in over his head. Also, he has the feeling that the guy who just moved into the apartment next door hates him because of the crying baby that keeps him up all night. As it turns out, Misha not only has that set of mesmerizing blue eyes, but also a lot of intuition when it comes to fussing, cranky babies.
Jeté by cadniganv E | 10k | AU, dancer!dean, photographer!cas
Castiel has been photographing their ballet company for two years now and he and Dean have barely exchanged six words, and yet somehow when Dean breaks his leg, it's Castiel who takes him home from the hospital and takes care of him.

BEARS BEAT #6 STANFORD IN THRILLER Foe Nuphaus Named Pac-12 Player Of The Week
PALO ALTO – Cal men's soccer coach Kevin Grimes thought his team had been playing in playoff form the past couple weeks. When a perfect storm of injuries and inexperience put the Bears out of NCAA Tournament contention, Thursday's season-finale at No. 6 Stanford became Cal's postseason. The evening at Cagan Stadium ended with a mixture of smiles, laughter and tears of joy as the Bears knocked off their rival 1-0 in Palo Alto. "I've been around this block 19 times and I know when a team is in playoff form," Grimes said. "I told the team we are peaking at the right time. It's unfortunate we've had some tough results and some tough injuries this year, but they played like they were in playoff form tonight." Both teams created quality scoring chances, and the match appeared headed to overtime before Cal freshman defender JJ Foe Nuphaus came out of nowhere on a corner kick to head a shot past Stanford goalie Andrew Thomas in the 85th minute. It was the first goal of Nuphaus' career and earned him Pac-12 Player of the Week honors. "I wasn't going to go for the header, but Coach told me with five minutes left to go in," Nuphaus said. "I was able to sprint in and I saw where the ball was going, so I just dove into it." Junior goalies Noah Texter and Drake Callender combined for Cal's fifth shutout of the season. All the more impressive considering it was on Stanford’s home field and they were averaging 3 goals per game at home. "It's the first time beating Stanford in my career. It's something personal," said Shinya Kadono, who broke into tears when the clock ran out. "We've been unlucky with some tough matches and we wanted to finish strong. This is a perfect way to end it. I couldn't contain my emotions." The Bears (7-9-2, 3-7 Pac-12) lost senior Spencer Held to a season-ending injury before the year ever started and freshman Christian Gomez suffered a broken leg in the third match of the season. Callender, All-Pac-12 midfielder Sam Ebstein, midfielder Simon Lekressner and defender Christopher Grey also all missed time with injuries this season. Cal also played the season with a roster with 12 true freshmen or redshirt freshmen – exactly half of its roster. "This is incredible for the seniors more than anything," Grimes said. "They've had such a difficult year with dealing with lineup changes and injuries, and going through some growing pains with a lot of young players. But they're not young anymore. Look at the way they played tonight. They played incredible." Kadono finished his senior season leading the Pac-12 with 12 goals, 26 points and 58 shots. He had three shots Thursday night and Ebstein had two. Texter and Callender made two saves each. "The seniors have put so much work into this program," Nuphaus said. "It's huge for them to go out like this. We didn't have the season we wanted, but to do something like this on Stanford's field is just how we wanted it." Along with Kadono, Ebstein and Held, fellow seniors Sam Junqua and Halil Beqaj wrapped up their Cal careers on Thursday. "My only wish for the group is that we were going to play next week," Grimes said. "I really believe that if we wouldn't' have had the injuries we had that we would have been there. The way we played tonight, we are a playoff team."

From Stephen Barr, President, Society of Catholic Scientists
On August 29, 2018, the eminent physicist, Clemens C. J. Roothaan, who is a member of the Society of Catholic Scientists, will celebrate his 100th birthday. As a physicist he is most famous for developing a method for calculating atomic and molecular wave functions that leads to the so-called “Hartree-Fock-Roothaan equations.” He also played an important part in the development of supercomputers.
Clemens C. J. Roothaan was born in Nijmegen, Holland. His studies in electrical engineering at Delft University of Technology were interrupted by the outbreak of World War II. He and his brother were sent by the Nazis to the Vught concentration camp for involvement with the Dutch Resistance. Later they were transferred to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp in Germany. Near the end of the war the inmates of that camp, including the Roothaan brothers, were sent on a “death march” which his brother did not survive.
After the war, Clemens emigrated to the United States and studied with Prof. Robert S. Mulliken, receiving his PhD in physics from the University of Chicago in 1950. He remained at the University of Chicago, where for many years he held the position of Louis Block Professor of Chemistry and Physics, retiring in 1988. From 1962 to 1968 he was also Director of the University of Chicago Computation Center. After his retirement from University of Chicago in 1988, he worked for two decades for Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Palo Alto, California, contributing to the development of the mathematical coprocessor routines for the Itanium chip.
Prof. Roothaan is a man of deep Catholic faith. He returned to the practice of his faith after 67 years on November 23th, 2014. November 23th is a special day for Prof. Roothaan for two other reasons as well. It is the feast day of his patron St. Clement of Rome, and the birthday of his great-great-great uncle, Jan Philipp Roothaan, who was the Superior General of the Jesuit order from 1829 to 1853. A year after Prof. Roothaan’s return to the Church, his beloved wife of more than six decades, Judith, who was Jewish but not a believer, came to faith and was received into the Catholic Church. Prof. Roothaan is a parishioner at the Shrine of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest, which worships in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.
On August 27th, the president of the Society of Catholic Scientists visited Prof. Roothaan at his home near the University of Chicago and presented him with a letter from the Society congratulating him on his 100th birthday and informing him that his intentions will be prayed for by members of the Society on his birthday and at all the Gold Masses that will be celebrated this coming November. Please remember Clemens Roothaan and his intentions in your prayers on August 29th.

When You Can Do Garage Door Repair Jobs Yourself
Your garage door is an important part of your life, and one which you normally take for granted, so when it goes wrong it can seem like a disaster. It affects not only your ability to get your car out and put it away, but often the security of your home itself. The question of who is the best person to do garage door repair jobs-yourself or a professional- is something you should always be keeping in mind, preferably from the time the garage door is new, not when it starts to go wrong.
One way of avoiding costly repair bills, of course, is to have the garage door checked and serviced on a regular basis. There are some aspects of this you can do yourself, such as carrying out a regular examination of the fittings, including the hinges and brackets, plus the plates on which the springs are mounted, and tightening all loose bolts and screws. You can also lubricate all moving parts, including the tracks, rollers and hinges, using an aerosol spray. However, using a professional to carry out a regular inspection will ensure that any potential safety issues can be identified before they cause a serious problem.
If you are checking your doors yourself, you may notice wear and tear in the rollers or hinges. This is something you may be able to fix yourself, but only if you are confident. If you are even slightly unsure, you should call a garage door repair service. If you notice rust or dents in the tracks, it is better to have these replaced by a professional.
There are some quite common problems you may find in your inspection of your garage doors, which you should definitely not try to fix yourself. One of these is broken springs, which can be very dangerous if they snap, because of the pressure they retain. The other problem you should not touch is cables coming off their tracks. For both of these you need to call in a professional garage door repair service.
Probably the most common problem encountered with overhead doors is the opener going wrong. There are a wide variety of problems that can occur. For example, the door fails to open when you press the remote; the opening and closing is only partial; the door opens without being commanded; or it opens and then reverses.
In any of these situations, there are a number of steps you can take yourself, before calling in a garage door repair service. First of all, check the power supply and check the batteries in your remote. Sometimes, replacing the batteries or reprogramming the remote is all it takes to fix the problem. Then you can unplug the opener and plug it in again, which sometimes resets the sensors. Finally, try cleaning the sensor's eyes, as dust on the eyes can block the signal.
If you still have no success, you need to check the type of spring system that operates your garage. If it is an extension spring, you might be able to fix it yourself. Common problems include broken pulleys, cables, springs or rollers. However, if it is a torsion spring, which will be mounted above the door-header, it will be too dangerous to fix yourself, and you must call the garage door repair service.
There are certainly some types of garage door repair that you can do yourself, provided you know what you are doing. However, never lose sight of the fact that overhead doors are heavy and dangerous, and also operate on electricity. If you are not absolutely confident, call the garage door repair professionals, and be safe not sorry.
