cough,, This but with Papby.

thinking about Snowdin losing power during a storm and the whole town hunkering down at Grillby's.

Grillby can still cook n such so he's making everyone hot chocolate, and tea that the shopkeeper brought. as well as hot food like the usual burgers n fries. (all free of charge!)

everyone brought blankets and Grillby's moved the tables against the walls to make room for a giant blanket nest so the townsfolk can bundle up together. Grillby's also heating the blankets and when he's not making food or drink he's actually sitting in the middle of the blanket nest.

Papyrus is helping pass things out, and is reassuring everyone that it'll be ok. If anyone needs something from outside Papyrus gets it bc he can't feel temperature so it's safer than the other's going out. sans fell asleep,, somewhere? no one knows where he is exactly just that he's Somewhere and Sleeping (he's behind the bar, Grillby finds him in the morning)

The shopkeeper brought cinnamonbuns(?) and tea like I mentioned, the inn keeper brought extra pillows and blankets. the dogs are offering warmth via cuddles. The librarian brought books and board games. everyone brought a little something!

It's a tad cramped inside but the townsfolk don't really mind. they're having a good time! it's warm, there's warm food and drink, lotta laughs and good conversation! community bonding at it's finest

the whole town falls asleep in one big pile on the blanket nest (minus the skelebros, for different reasons). it probably wasn't intentional but it's what happened anyway. grillby is still in the center surrounded by the k-9 unit, he will wake up Covered in dog hair lol. Papyrus occupies himself w board games, crosswords, etc, and sans remains asleep.

this all kickstarts a new community event/tradition where the whole town gathers at Grillby's together in a similar fashion every other month or so. oh it needs a name,, anyone got any ideas?

Today Papyrus is romantic...

You can imagine whoever it is that Papyrus is inviting for a dance, any ship is valid as long as it's not one of the illegal and really bad ones!!

But personally, I am a Papby (Papyrus x Grillby) shipper for life. Yes, you heard me, I'm one of the ten (maybe less) people out there that enjoy this ship :)

Gonna post the speedpaints tomorrow btw because I totally forgot about them...

Actually, on the topic of Grillby related ships, I've off n on thought about Papby. Why did they just call it Grillbyrus. That would make so much more sense... Not the point I was going to make.

Anyway. The first time I ever really considered it seriously was, of course, so surprisingly, underfell. I'd made a fic a billion years ago that actually predominately featured Grillby and Papyrus (in a fully platonic way) and man has my interp of UF Grillby changed. Also not the point.

Writing them together, and having seen the ship a handful of times, I thought it could have potential. It's a little difficult not to view Grillby as sort of a more neighborly, uncle-esque type of person to the brothers for me, but if I reposition the angle I'm looking at them from, I feel like they could genuinely have some really cute potential.

I've side partnered Edge with UT Grillby a few times for fic ideas that ultimately wind up otherwise (with no hard feelings between Edge and Grillby), so I'm not sure if I prefer the idea of Edge with UT Grillby of UF, but I think they'd certainly have a unique dynamic that could work very sweetly <3

Do you think PapBy counts as a rare pair? I don't know if it technically does but I love it and I don't stumble across it a lot. I just really love the many ideas that could go into it 🤔🥰

I’d say that those two could be considered as a rare pair. At least in my opinion. I’ve had a chance to read a few fics with them, and those were always delightful.

Their dynamics has a lot of promise, with one producing greasy food and the other... learning how to cook. Also, there’s a big contrast of Papyrus’ enthusiasm and energy to Grillby’s calm and formal behavior. I like the idea of a pair that happens because of their mutual friend - Sans in this situation. It’s less obvious but seems quite realistic in the long run, especially if you drag them to the Surface and shake their lives a bit with the novelty of the big world.

On top of that... two handsome guys that could dress sharp for the dates? Count me in.

Hard Times Bingo Prompt 5: Papby

Prompt 5: Papby (Soft Love) ~520 words

Napping was something Papyrus didn’t often do. He felt it was unnecessary at best, and frivolous at worst. There were so many other things he could be doing other than laying flat on a comfortable surface and being unconscious for an undetermined amount of time!

Sans had never agreed, and seemed to relish in the activity. If you could call it an activity.

But Grillby… Grillby seemed to understand a little better Papyrus’s point of view. He was a person that liked to get things done, as quickly and efficiently as possible. He worked hard, and had the business to prove it.

Today, however, Grillby had off. The flame didn’t get many days off, and ever since Papyrus had moved in, there was only one way Grillby enjoyed spending them.

Sat on the couch, snacks at the ready, and the TV on at a higher volume than usual.

At first, Papyrus had just… sort of gone with it. Grillby was such a hard worker normally that there was very little Papyrus could say about the “sudden laziness”. If you could even call it that, Grillby often cleaned a bit on his days off as well.

But after the first few times… Grillby started asking him to sit with him. Cuddle, even, and Papyrus was a very great cuddler. What was he supposed to do? Tell his boyfriend no??

Which led back to days like today. Grillby was curled up on the couch, flames bright and healthy, watching some cooking competition show that involved surprisingly little yelling, Papyrus laid down with his head in Grillby’s lap.

It was surprisingly comfortable, laying this way. Comfortable enough that Papyrus had started not to mind it. Grillby was warm to Papyrus’s constant chill, giving him just enough cozy warmth that it didn’t take long before he was starting to drift off.

Grillby certainly did not help matters by gently petting his head, the crackling of fire above him added to the repetitive motions and really, no one could blame Papyrus for falling asleep.

Which, really, no one did. Grillby certainly didn’t, seeing as how this had been an orchestrated ploy for weeks now. Sans had warned him that Papyrus tended to go and go and go, until he’d far surpassed his limits and crashed horrifically.

That was the last thing Grillby wanted for his boyfriend. So, he’d started what he called “Project Break Time”. Truly, he’d needed to take a few days off of work here and there anyways, and what better reason could he have than helping his lover relax?

Putting on Master Chef (Canada, of course, the American one had entirely too much drama), grabbing a bowlful of pretzels, and getting comfortable on the couch was the perfect trap. Especially when he put on the icing atop the cupcake of trickery he’d baked.

All he had to do was ask Papyrus to sit with him. It would graduate from there to cuddles, which traveled farther still to Papyrus as he was now; laid asleep in Grillby’s lap.

It was an adorable sight, one he was sure Sans would love to see.

Too bad. This was all Grillby’s.

Hard Times Bingo Prompt 1: Spicyhoney

Fingers tapping against the table, Edge could not help the fluttering of his soul. It’d been nearly fifteen minutes since he’d arrived at Blue’s home, his host happily letting him inside and exclaiming, wink and all, “I’ll go wake up Paps!”

Edge had stood there for five of the minutes, unsure of what he should do in this situation. Underfell was not a great teacher in the terms of hospitality and culture. So he stood there, and after a long contemplation, sat on the very edge of the couch. It was a comfortable couch, he thought.

The next five minutes were spent watching the TV, which had been left on. Blue seemed to be into some… interesting horror. That was a lot of blood for one small person.

And the last five minutes were spent like he was now, staring at the hallway that led to the bedrooms, hands wrapped tightly around his humeri like he was trying to hold himself back from rushing in there to yell his intentions.

Or yell in general. How did it take this long to wake up??

Finally, though, finally Edge heard the creaks of the floor, Stretch coming out from the hallway and for a moment, Edge could not speak.

Stretch was without his signature hoodie, his bones sleek and on display even if he wore a tank top that had a large burger emblazoned on it. It looked like a very messy burger.

“Hey, eyes are up here bud.”

Edge’s eyelights tore off of the burger, meeting Stretch’s who was smirking.

“Ah. Yes, apologies.”

Stretch shrugged, though he looked a little uncomfortable. Maybe this was a bad idea…

“What did you need, edgelord?” Stretch asked, bringing him back out of his thoughts, and, just for that split moment, Edge found the courage to say

“I want to take you out!”

A pause. Then, “What, to dinner or with a sniper rifle?”

Edge gawked at Stretch, who was laughing with a bright light in his eyes that hadn’t been there before. It felt… good. Not embarrassing like it normally would have been. It felt good to make him laugh.

“Out to dinner. If it were with a sniper you would not get a warning before hand.”

Stretch snorted, coming over finally with a lazy grace to flop on the other end of the couch. “Yeah, I figured. What, you wanna… go out on a date?”

Edge felt his throat begin to close, the nervousness strong, but nodded once, resolute.

Stretch seemed to pause to think about it for a moment, before finally smiling.

It wasn’t his usual smile. It wasn’t lazy, wasn’t careless. Wasn’t like he knew the secrets to life and they weren’t particularly enjoyable or original.

It was a soft smile. A genuine smile. A smile Edge hoped he could see again.

“Well, I don’t see why not. Maybe you can take me out to the fancy schmancy seafood place you like so much, treat me right.”

Edge hmphed, crossing his arms. “Well of course I’ll treat you right! Your brother would have every right to kill me if I didn’t.”

Stretch laughed again, the sound so beautiful, and nodded. “That he would. When are we going?”

And Edge, who had already planned things out to a T no matter how this went, was more than happy to tell him.

Hello lovelies! The one you may remember! It’s an oldie, but hopefully a goody! Back in 2018, I asked for drabble prompts and this was one of them! Someone liked it so much, they donated quite large sum of kofis and requested a continuation, so here it is! I apologize for it taking so long, but better late than never, right?! Next is The Itch! I bet everyone is dying for that one! I’m on a roll so hopefully expect the next chapter by Monday at the latest! <3 Speaking of The Itch, The Moment is pretty much what would have happened if it had been Sans who had the itch, instead of Grillby.  Nothing good for Papyrus, I’m afraid.  Enjoy!
