15. What was the partner's reaction to Rook being imprisoned in the Fade? How did they cope? How did they react upon seeing Rook again?

Lucanis was stunned from killing Ghilan'nain, and needed help to get up and back to the boat, but he freaked out when he noticed Rook was missing. For a while, he refused to leave until they found her. When the others got more insistent that they had to leave (the Antaam army and Archdemon still being A Thing), Spite came to the forefront and drove everyone back. It took Taash (who just lost Harding) yelling at him to make Lucanis take control back and finally agree to leave.

The following weeks were extremely hard for Lucanis. At first he thought Rook was dead, but after they figured out where she wound up, he concluded that wasn't much better. After all, it took Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain millennia to get out of there. He spent much of his days eating less but sleeping more, thinking he might catch a glimpse of her in his dreams. He also took to going out to the Crossroads or Treviso and fighting whatever Antaam or Venatori he could find there.

When the team finally pulled Pa'ani out of the Fade, Lucanis just broke down, crying and holding her tight and kissing her temple. He truly thought he would never see her again or be able to tell her the full extent of his feelings.

16. How did your Rook react to getting trapped in the Fade and separated from their partner?

Pa'ani wasn't sure whether Lucanis had died killing Ghilan'nain and it haunted her that she didn't know. She thought she had ordered the man she loved to his death. She cries easily, so she spent much of the time in the Fade in tears. She kept seeing Harding's death and Bellara's abduction and Lucanis wrapped in Blight tentacles over and over in the prison, but also her mother's death and the argument she had with her clan's Keeper when she left to join the Veil Jumpers. Finding out Varric had died was a shock, but a little easier to swallow with Varric's spirit helping her.

Had Sex in Public: I don't imagine there was much privacy in Dalish camps, but the times Pa'ani had sex were as private as they could be.

Gotten Tattoos: She has vallaslin that she had altered from Ghilan'nain horns to wings when she learned from her explorations with the Veil Jumpers that they were once slave markings. On her right arm, she has a large tattoo of a floating ruin to represent Arlathan. On her left leg, she has another large series of tattoos that represent the travels she's taken. She adds more to it whenever a significant event happens in her life.

Gotten Piercings: Pa'ani has multiple ear piercings. She wants a nose ring but hasn't gotten around to getting it yet.

Gotten Scars: Many, many scars! Most of them are relatively small, but they're kind of inevitable when you fight as much as she does. Her biggest scars are the ones she got from an ogre while she was with Davrin in the Cauldron.

Had a Broken Heart: Not from a romantic relationship. Her heart broke when her mother died, though.

Been in Love: She thought she had been before Lucanis, but he was the first/only person she fell HARD for.

A cuddler: Yes, absolutely. The more cuddles, the better.

Scared easily: Not really. She does get scared or grossed out, but she learned early on to take most of the threats of Thedas in stride.

Jealous easily: No. When she's with someone, she trusts them completely. Otherwise, she wouldn't be with them.

Trustworthy: Yes, you can trust Pa'ani with anything... unless you're playing cards with her, lol.

Siblings: Pa'ani is an only child, but she thinks of Bellara like a sister.

2. When does the partner realize that they're in love with Rook?

Lucanis suspects he might be in love with Rook after they've killed Zara and they have their almost-kiss. Lucanis scares himself with the depth of his feelings and he doesn't know what to do with the realization. He kind of goes into denial about it for a little while, and is worried that Spite is influencing him somehow. Lucanis is terrified Spite will hurt her.

He finally accepts that he's in love with her after Spite brings Rook into Lucanis' mind. She's seen the worst of him, and yet still treats him like a man. But even though they start a tentative relationship, Lucanis still has a hard time going all in on the relationship because he's convinced himself he's bad for her. It takes almost losing her in the Fade to make himself see they could lose each other at any time and to seize what joy he has in the present.

10. Do they have any nicknames for each other? Who uses terms of endearment more?

Rook and Lucanis have a lot of nicknames for each other, especially after Lucanis opens up. Lucanis calls her 'Ani' in private, and 'mi amor' or 'mi vida' when she's not acting in any official capacity where she would be 'Rook'. Pa'ani calls Lucanis 'Lu', 'ma'lath', or 'ma'eth'an' (my safe place) interchangeably, though she will almost always call him by his full name when they're out in the field. Pa'ani is more free with using terms of endearment, whereas Lucanis uses them more in private until he gradually feels more comfortable being public about their relationship. It does eventually get to a point where he uses them freely in public, but it takes more than a year to get there.

11. Who says "I love you" first? What is the other's reaction? Who thinks it first?

Pa'ani says "I love you" first. Lucanis sort of stares at her in disbelief for a while. I don't think Lucanis has really ever heard "I love you" from anyone in his life, at least since his parents died. Hearing it for the first time is shocking for him, and thrilling for them both. They share their first (off-screen) kiss after she says it because at that point, he can't not kiss her. The emotion is too overwhelming. He wants to say it back to her, but he doesn't. Not then, anyway.

Lucanis first says "I love you" when he pulls her out of the Fade. He says it over and over as he holds her. He tells her whenever he can afterwards, because he's afraid that each time might be the last.

Lucanis is the first one to think it, though. While Pa'ani falls in love gradually, Lucanis falls in love like stepping off a cliff, lol. He thinks it repeatedly after their near-kiss whenever he sees her, but it takes him a long time before he feels he deserves to say it.
