It had taken him longer than she had expected it would.
Popil made sure to take off his shoes before he entered her house, he had been studying the culture for a while now and he knew she would notice.
He smiled when he saw her smile.
“I hope I’m not interrupting anything,” he said calmly.
“No, you are not. Please, come” she replied guiding him. “May I get you a drink, Inspector?”
“Just Popil, or Pascal, I’m not an inspector here. And yes, water, please”
He was exactly as she remembered, polite and a little shy around her. “It’s a beautiful place”
“Thank you” She moved to the kitchen quickly. “What brings you to Hiroshima, Popil?”
He was blushing when she handed him the glass of water. “I’ve come to see you, you left Paris quite suddenly”
She watched patiently as he avoided the subject, Murasaki felt a little thankful for such. She lost something in Paris she still wasn’t prepared to talk about.
Lady Murasaki smiled politely at him, her hands in her sleeves. “Sit with me and tell me about your trip. How is Hiroshima treating you?”
They walked together to the living room, the air somehow lighter than it had ever been between than in Paris.
Perhaps this could go somewhere good. Just perhaps.

Hannibal Rising (2007) dir. Peter Webber. 7.4/10
Dieter looks a bit like Kolnas.
Wow, Gong Li and Owen Hunt. How many Grey’s Anatomy characters are we going to have in this series?
Gun positioning in the back of the coat is new.
I swear there is another movie parallel with Hannibal showing the meat to Kolnas.
Spoiler: [About Hannibal playing with his little sister, Mischa, at the Lecter Castle in Lithuania during WWII. His family departs to their hunting lodge in the woods with his mother bringing in some jewelry for riches. After 3 years, the Nazis are gone, but as they are leaving, they manage to destroy Soviets stopped by the lodge, killing Hannibal’s parents. Hannibal and Mischa get by until the winter brings in 5 soldiers, led by a Nazi collaborator, Vladis Grutas. Hannibal fights them, but is subdued and tied up with Mischa. The group spends time here and fail to bring in any food from hunting. They eventually get very hungry and stare at the kids. In 8 years, Hannibal lives in his castle, which has become an orphanage. He never speaks and is often bullied, especially because he screams in his sleep from nightmares. One night, he goes through his parents’ belongings and finds letters from family he has elsewhere. He escapes and manages to sneak across the border. He heads to Paris, where he meets Lady Murasaki, his uncle’s wife. She is a widower and takes him in. She tends to him during his nightmares and finally gets him to speak. She teaches him about flower arrangements, ancestral worship, and fighting. At the fish market, a butcher named Paul Momund harasses Lady Murasaki and Hannibal fights him. He is brought in to the station and let go with a warning since he wants to be a doctor. Paul is out fishing and Hannibal goes to him. They start talking and Paul takes out his knife on Hannibal. Hannibal ends up using his ancestral sword to slice up Paul and kills him. Inspector Pascal Popil checks in on the autopsy and learns that Paul’s body involves the scent of oil of cloves, which is what Hannibal uses to wipe the sword for worship. Hannibal’s household eats the fish that Paul had caught for dinner. Murasaki comes to the worship shrine and sees Paul’s severed head as Hannibal justifies the killing. The police arrive at their home and she tells him to wash his hands so that the scent disappears. She talks to Popil and makes everything seem okay. As Hannibal is brought into the station for a lie detector test, he passes after showing no emotion or changes in his reaction. As he’s questioning Hannibal, Popil talks about how he had also lost family in the war. They are then alerted to the fact that Paul’s head has been put on a spike in front of the station, absolving Hannibal of guilt. Lady Murasaki is back home by this time. Hannibal is then the youngest student admitted to medical school as their estate is being auctioned. He starts a job to prepare cadavers while Murasaki is settling into a new place. He and Murasaki visit an art museum as he talks about how he remembers the faces of Mischa’s killers in his dreams, but can’t remember their names. During his job, he awaits for a criminal’s dead body while witnessing Popil injecting the criminal with sodium thiopental to get some truth about the war crimes done. Hannibal takes the solution and injects it into himself later to figure out the names of his enemies. He is only able to remember them checking the health of him and his sister to determine which one to kill and eat. He decides to take a trip back to the lodge. His presence is alerted to one of the killers, Enrikas Dortlich, who recognizes his name as he’s reviewing the passports that came through his border. He gets to the lodge and finds his mom’s riches and the dog tags of all his killers. Dortlich goes to kill him, but is instead tied up by Hannibal. Hannibal buries his sister’s remains and has a rope around Dortlich’s neck with a horse attached to get Dortlich to reveal information on the rest of the group and he eventually does so. Regardless, Hannibal sends the horse off and Dortlich is decapitated after they sing the song sung by the killers during the killing. The authorities discover Dortlich’s remains and find that some of him has been eaten as a brochette. Hannibal comes back to Murasaki, who learns of the dog tags. They head to Fontainebleau, where Kolnas, one of the killers, has a restaurant. They
watch some birds being kept there and meet Kolnas’s daughter, who is wearing Mischa’s bracelet. Hannibal puts Kolnas’s dogtag in the daughter’s pocket and she goes back to her dad. He finds the dog tag, but doesn’t know where it came from. Popil learns of Dortlich’s murder and is suspicious of Hannibal. Kolnas goes to his group to talk about the tags and Hannibal Lecter. Grutas is now a sex trafficker and has Zigmas Milko go and kill Hannibal. Popil reveals the death of Dortlich to Murasaki and she continues to protect Hannibal. Popil says he’ll have to guillotine Hannibal if the truth is discovered. Milko sneaks into Hannibal’s lab as he’s working. Hannibal is aware that someone is inside and creates a ruse by sawing off the cadaver’s arms and making it appear as if it’s his own working. As Milko gets closer, Hannibal attacks him and drowns him in a formaldehyde chamber. Popil visits Hannibal after Hannibal is done killing in the next room and tries to get Hannibal to stop the killings. He says he’ll punish them if they aren’t killed by Hannibal. Popil will only let Hannibal go if he reveals what he knows. Hannibal talks with Murasaki, who loves him and kisses him. She tells him to let the men go to the police, but Hannibal said he promised Mischa first. Hannibal manages to infiltrate Grutas’s home. He has a bomb set up while he hides in Grutas’s shower. Grutas is in the middle of a bath as a woman shaves him. At a specific time, Hannibal comes out of the shower and aims a gun at Grutas as a maid goes and gets help from guards. They manage to subdue Hannibal until the bomb explodes. Hannibal escapes, but gets a phone call threatening him with Murasaki’s life. During the call, she alerts the birds at Kolnas’s restaurant, revealing to Hannibal where she is. They make a plan with Hannibal to go to a location or they’ll send Murasaki’s cheeks. The real plan is to kill him immediately. Hannibal goes to Kolnas at his restaurant and shows Mischa’s bracelet and says he stopped by Kolnas’s family home. They fight until Hannibal aims a gun at him. He has Kolnas give up Grutas’s boat location for Murasaki and calls a phone number to talk to Kolnas. Kolnas hears his wife and has her check on the kids, who are fine. He’s been duped. Hannibal puts a gun down and lures Kolnas and when Kolnas grabs the gun, Hannibal kills him. Grutas has Murasaki stowed away on his boat as he tries to take advantage of her. Hannibal sneaks his way on to the boat and finds Murasaki. Grutas is hidden and shoots Hannibal in the back. When Hannibal fails to move since Grutas believes he shot his spine, Grutas continues to make moves on Murasaki. Hannibal then slices Grutas’s ankles with his sword, which was hidden in his back and what was shot at. He then slices the letter M on Grutas’s chest and Murasaki tries to stop him. He doesn’t and she leaves him. The boat explodes as Murasaki cries out for Hannibal and held back by Popil. Hannibal had escaped and gone to Canada to find the last member of the group. He meets him and whistles the song.]

INSPECTOR PASCAL POPIL.   the very first to suspect Hannibal Lecter of murder -- Inspector Popil attempted to link Hannibal to his first kill, the Butcher, Paul Momund, but was unable to establish solid evidence.  He suspected Hannibal was guilty of killing Grutas and his gang, but could not prove it beyond circumstantial evidence.  Hannibal was very young at the time, perhaps 16 - 18 years of age.  Contrary to the name I’ve given the meme, Popil never actually became a VICTIM of Hannibal’s -- and if he’s still alive, I’m sure he’s thrilled to know that Hannibal was in fact guilty.

“Il piccolo Hannibal è morto nel 1945 là fuori nella neve, cercando di salvare la sorella. Il suo cuore è morto con Mischa. Che cos’è ora? Non c’è una parola per dirlo. In mancanza di meglio, possiamo chiamarlo mostro”.
