as someone who isnt super excited for sotm for certain reasons I am really glad that like. it's clear that since ruin theyve been setting up for carnival and sotm IS carnival. so now that carnival is finally coming out, afterwards theyll be moving on to other plotlines since the main villain stuff is sorted out

I'm just rlly happy to finally see a clear direction for how the story is gonna be playing out with like "okay these games were leading up to this so after this will be open possibilites" instead of like. absolutely no info about each upcoming game and being left guessing before it releases and just having to wait and see what's in it and if anything you're looking forward to will be in it

it feels like they have a plan and a solid direction for what they're trying to do and after carnival releases thatll be all that buildup coming to fruition. & we already know from the Scott interview that theres another release 'beyond sotm' that's 'super exciting' so maybe thatll be focusing on another big currently untouched (which is basically all of them) plotline, or even the big campaign game that dawko has been calling security breach 2

Weird to me that people constantly mention Scrooge being visited by three (3) ghosts. Like, the very first line of the book tells you that Marley was dead to make sure you know that he's a ghost when he shows up to warn Scrooge. There were very much four (4) ghosts.

Starting to realise that second draft quintsum has caused my writing to evolve from being primarily past tense focused to being present time focused, which I know is a thing entirely because of my advanced grammar course I took almost 2 years ago now and it still haunts me

Most people don't even know wtf I mean by "time" in this context! Because it's a step above tense in grammar lecturing!

I know I've talked about this a lot lately and I'm sure this isn't new to many people but there definitely seems to be some sort of rule that requires people writing articles for major American news outlets that acknowledge U.S. military trainings of individuals and militaries that afterwards committed atrocities to emphasize that the U.S. government did not know that this would be the outcome and to either precede the acknowledgement or immediately follow it up with some sort of statement that's like "this illustrates the risks of partnerships with repressive governments." This reframes it so that the sole responsibility for the violence that followed falls on the foreign government itself, and the repressiveness of the government is posited as an innate quality (implied to be the result of its existence in a particular region) that is unaffected by things like military trainings, and also implies that the U.S.'s intentions were of course good but it took a "risk" for strategic reasons that turned out poorly; it was a blunder and a miscalculation but not intentional. I've also seen it implied in at least one case that the primary "risk" is not to the people who were killed or victimized but to the U.S.'s reputation because people might unfairly blame the U.S. for what happened.
