Mobilitätswende heißt nicht nur nach neuen (e)Lösungen zu suchen sondern auch den Blick zurück tun. Schauen was auch gut funktionierte, bevor es elektrifiziert/motorisiert wurde und Ressourcen wegknabbert. Ein Beispiel? Das Karussell am Eberswalder Weihnachtsmarkt. Das dreht sich von Hand. Isn't it funny how perspective changes over time? This is the first painting I did. I had been working with cante on canvas but decided to try using oil paint over top of cante and pastel. This was the result. I called it Diesel. My boyfriend at the time took it from me and I dumped him soon afterwards (you can read all about that in my memoir Little Yellow Magnet). For years, I've lamented the loss of this painting, believing it to have been the best I've ever done and have actually considered calling him so that I could get it back. Don't worry, I won't ever open that door. However looking at it now, it seems lifeless and I know that the art I create now is far more beautiful, more full of life. So I will let this painting go, but I will remember the joy of creation that I felt the first time I picked up a paint brush.
