Darkroom (1981–82) is a short-lived horror anthology TV series hosted by James Coburn.
Just seven one-hour episodes were made, each containing two or more stories (each story is classified as an episode on IMDb).
S1.EP9 | "The Partnership": A chatty amusement park owner (Pat Buttram) uses folksy charm to trap a cranky biker (David Carradine).
This one's a real treat.
Watch for a symbol, found in many of Carradine's screen appearances, that eerily foreshadows his real-life death.
Two fun stories follow The Partnership, featuring stars like Rue McClanahan and Jocelyn Brando (Marlon's sister).

Doctor Brown was sent back into the old west to the year 1885 when the time machine he was in was struck by lightening. Brown was enjoying the simpler life, although that didn’t stop him from inventing things to make his life easier and was surprised when Marty McFly, his friend from the future, showed up. Marty explained he had come back to rescue the Doc from being murdered in this past. (Back to the Future III, Flm)

If you didn’t know any better, if there weren’t any opening and closing credits, this episode of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour could easily pass for an episode of the Twilight Zone.
The Jar was written by Ray Bradbury, features an original score by Bernard Herrmann, and stars Pat Buttram, William Marshall, Jane Darwell, George Lindsey, Slim Pickens, and Billy Barty.

The Sheila Ryan Centennial
Today’s tribute is to the original Sheila Ryan (1921-1975), not James Caan’s second wife. As it turns out, this Sheila Ryan’s real name turns out to have been Katherine McLaughlin, which made me laugh because Katie McLaughlin to Sheila Ryan is rather a lateral move in terms of seeming less Irish, if that was her motive. Perhaps she thought it sounded more sophisticated? Ryan was all of 18 when…

Idea: Cyberpunk salesman character who peddles a variety of questionable wares and subjects his customers to all sorts of odious microtransactions, but the joke is that he's basically Mr. Haney from Green Acres

“I keep tellin’ ya, I ain’t got nothin’ to do with them no more! Pa’s got someone else he can look after, and who can look after him. It ain’t mine or Rosie’s business. I don’t wanna hear a word about bein’ a bad son - he wasn’t there for me growin’ up. He just threw me and Rosie into the spotlight and expected us to be the perfect little stars. Well, I didn’t want to be an actor, how about that? But did he ever talk to us about what we wanted? You bet he didn’t!”
Tom took in a deep breath, steadying himself again. “Y’know, it ain’t easy having a pa who prides himself in bein’ lazy. Enough to call himself a pirate of doin’ nothin’! But of course he adopts that scallion and suddenly he’s the perfect pa? Bull. Shit.”

On the April 11, 1999 season premier of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (in what would be the last season on Sci-Fi) TV's Frank (Frank Coniff) and Joel Robinson (Joel Hodgson) made surprise cameos. Frank revealed to Pearl Forrester (Mary Jo Pehl) that his time in Second Banana Heaven was short lived due to coming in conflict with Pat Buttram. He was now working as a Soultaker. He wasn't impressed with Pearl's henchmen Professor Bobo (Kevin Murphy) and Observer (Bill Corbett) at first, but he and Bobo ended up really hitting it off. Joel, who managed a Hot Fish Shop since returning to Earth, revealed that he learned that Doctor Clayton Forrester (Trace Beaulieu) had set the Satellite of Love to self destruct, so spent a lot of money to fly up to the ship to repair it. It was Frank's first appearance since he left in season 6 Sampson vs the Vampire Women (March 25, 1995) and Joel's first since he left in season 5 Mitchell (October 23, 1993). While Joel would return in the Netflix series as Ardy and other characters, he wouldn't appear again as Joel Robinson until June 24, 2022 episode Demon Squad. The "Rural Purge" of Television
Tumblr media
During the early 1970s, American television networks — particularly CBS — noticed a shift in demographics as younger, urban audiences became more desirable to advertisers than the traditional rural and older viewership. This was aligned with a growing desire among television executives for more socially relevant content that reflected contemporary issues.
As a result, a number of highly rated rural-themed shows such as The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres and Petticoat Junction were canceled to make way for a changing television landscape, in what came to be known as the rural purge. They were replaced by a new wave of shows such as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, All in the Family and M*A*S*H, which were believed to be more in touch with the modern tastes and preferences of suburban American audiences. Green Acres' actor Pat Buttram famously said of the change: "CBS canceled everything with a tree — including Lassie."
The move drew some conservative outcry (including from then president Richard Nixon), which prompted CBS to release the rural family drama The Waltons, in 1972.

Here's a character I created for Laura and Tinsel. His name is Snout and he works for the villain simply called The Hunter. And speaks in a similar way to Pat Buttram.
