Hello Please pay attention🙏🙏
Hello everyone, I am Haya Jouda, a Palestinian refugee from Gaza City and a mother of three male children, the youngest of whom is Youssef.
As you know, the fierce and destructive war is still continuing on my beloved city...
Like all Gazans, I and my children have tasted the bitterness and oppression of displacement many times in dangerous places that are unsafe and unfit for life in any way...
During the displacement process, I noticed that my little boy's health was not good, and suddenly he fell into a coma, only to find out after miserable tests in the dilapidated and destroyed hospitals that he had suffered from a malfunction of the pancreatic system resulting in (type 1 diabetes), severe vitamin D deficiency, kidney and liver dysfunction, and severe infections in the urinary system....
I gathered my strength and decided to defy all odds and get out of Gaza at any cost in a last attempt to save my little boy ... I travelled to Egypt, where I have no means of travelling, no costs for my son's treatment and no money...
I am a homeless refugee in a country where I and my children have nothing....
But I refuse to give in to despair and with a heart full of oppression and sadness, I extend my hand to get your help and solidarity with my innocent child. ....
Your support will give my child a new life in good health ....
Please share my 6-year-old son's story widely to reach all those who want to help, love and donate on my child's link in the programme. ⤵️
Your donation can sow hope for my little boy's survival for a better life and future...
I love you and thank you.

The Completeness of Islam: A Multifaceted Way of Life

Islam is a comprehensive way of life that encompasses all aspects of human existence. From mental health to nature, spirituality, the economy, politics, manners, and family care. Islam’s multifaceted nature and its relevance provides profound guidance and wisdom to Muslims.
Spirituality
Spirituality is at the heart of Islam. The Quran and Hadith provide extensive guidance on developing a deep, personal relationship with Allah.
“Indeed, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” (Quran 13:28)
Central to Islamic spirituality is the practice of the five daily prayers (Salah). These prayers are not merely rituals but profound acts of worship that strengthen the connection between the believer and Allah. Praying five times a day at prescribed times creates a rhythm of devotion, reminding Muslims of their purpose and aligning their lives with divine guidance.
“The closest a person is to His Lord is when he is in prostration” (Sahih Muslim).
“The similitude of one who remembers his Lord and one who does not remember Him, is like that of the living and the dead” (Sahih al-Bukhari).
Mental Health
Islam recognises the importance of mental health and provides guidance on maintaining psychological well-being. The Quran emphasises patience and reliance on Allah during times of distress:
“Verily, with hardship comes ease” (Quran 94:6).
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also encouraged seeking help and making dua (supplication) for mental relief: “There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment” (Sahih al-Bukhari).
Nature
Islam teaches a deep respect for nature and the environment. The Quran frequently references the signs of Allah in the natural world:
“And He is the One Who spread out the earth and placed firm mountains and rivers upon it, and created fruits of every kind in pairs. He covers the day with night. Surely in this are signs for those who reflect.” (Quran 13:3).
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) highlights the importance of caring for the environment:
“If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person, or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (Sadaqah) for him” (Sahih al-Bukhari).
Economy
Islamic economic principles promote justice, fairness, and welfare. The prohibition of usury (interest), in order to prevent the extortion of others and for the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer, is one example:
“Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest” (Quran 2:275).
Zakat (a wealth tax given to charity) is another pillar of Islam, aimed at redistributing wealth to those in need: “And establish prayer and give Zakat, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves — you will find it with Allah”(Quran 2:110).
Politics & Justice
Islamic governance is based on justice and the welfare of the people. The Quran states:
“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives” (Quran 4:135)
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) provided an example of leadership based on compassion and justice:
“The best of rulers are those whom you love and who love you, who pray for you and you pray for them” (Sahih Muslim)
Manners
Islam places great emphasis on good manners and etiquette. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,
“The best among you are those who have the best manners and character” (Sahih al-Bukhari).
The Quran instructs believers to speak kindly and avoid harsh words: “Worship none but Allah; be kind to parents, relatives, orphans and the needy; speak kindly to people; establish prayer; and pay Zakat”* (Quran 2:83).
Family Care
Family is the cornerstone of Islamic society. The Quran and Hadith provide detailed guidance on maintaining family bonds and treating family members with kindness and respect.
“And We have commanded people to ˹honour˺ their parents. Their mothers bore them through hardship upon hardship, and their weaning takes two years. So be grateful to Me and your parents. To Me is the final return.”* (Quran 31:14)
“The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best among you to my family” (Sunan Ibn Majah).
Education
Education is highly valued in Islam, both for men and women. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim” (Sunan Ibn Majah).
The Quran encourages the pursuit of knowledge, in fact, the first words revealed from the Quran was:
“Read in the name of your Lord who created” (Quran 96:1)
These verses among others were the fuel to the fantastic strides achieved by Muslims in the past in the field of science, astronomy, mathematics, medicine and much more, and continue to provide inspiration for Muslims today.
Social Justice
Social justice is a fundamental aspect of Islam. The Quran advocates for the rights of the oppressed and marginalised:
“O believers! Stand firm for Allah and bear true testimony. Do not let the hatred of a people lead you to injustice. Be just! That is closer to righteousness. And be mindful of Allah. Surely Allah is All-Aware of what you do.” (Quran 5:8)
Health and Hygiene
Islam emphasises health and hygiene, recognising them as vital components of a healthy life. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, Cleanliness is half of faith” (Sahih Muslim).
The Quran also highlights the importance of consuming lawful and pure food:
“O you who have believed, eat from the good things which We have provided for you and be grateful to Allah if it is [indeed] Him that you worship” (Quran 2:172)
Charity and Community Support
Charity is not only encouraged but mandated in Islam (except those in need of it). Zakat (obligatory charity) and Sadaqah (voluntary charity) are means to support those in need and promote social welfare: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. And Allah multiplies ˹the reward even more˺ to whoever He wills. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.” (Quran 2:261).
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity” (Tirmidhi).
The completeness of Islam is evident in its comprehensive guidance covering all facets of life. From promoting mental health and environmental care to fostering spirituality, economic justice, political integrity, good manners, strong family bonds, the pursuit of education, social justice, health and hygiene, charitable deeds and much more. Islam offers a holistic approach to living a balanced and fulfilling life. Its teachings are timeless and applicable to everyone of us.

Zakat in Canada: A Pillar of Compassion Through Penny Appeal Canada
In the heart of every Muslim lies a profound sense of duty to serve humanity. One of the most beautiful and impactful expressions of this responsibility is Zakat, a divine obligation that transcends time, geography, and socio-economic status. For Muslims in Canada, fulfilling this pillar of Islam has become more accessible and impactful thanks to organizations like Penny Appeal Canada.
But what does Zakat really mean in a Canadian context, and how can your contribution make a real difference both locally and globally?
Understanding Zakat
Zakat is not just charity; it is a mandatory act of worship, a right that the poor have over the wealth of the rich. It requires eligible Muslims to give 2.5% of their accumulated wealth annually to those in need, as prescribed by Islamic teachings. Unlike voluntary charity (sadaqah), Zakat is obligatory and one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
Why Is Zakat Important in Canada?
Canada is a diverse and inclusive country, with a growing Muslim population that deeply values social responsibility. Yet, the reality is that many people—both within and outside the Muslim community—face food insecurity, poverty, and lack of access to essential services.
Here’s why paying Zakat in Canada matters:
Local Need: According to Food Banks Canada, nearly 2 million visits were made to food banks in a single month in 2023. Poverty is real, even in a developed country.
Community Building: Zakat fosters empathy, reduces economic inequality, and strengthens communal ties.
Tax Benefits: Donations to registered charities like Penny Appeal Canada are tax-deductible, allowing Muslims to fulfill both their religious and civic duties.
Who Can Receive Zakat?
Islamic law outlines eight categories of people who can receive Zakat. These include:
Penny Appeal Canada ensures that your Zakat reaches those who fall within these categories, maximizing the spiritual and social impact of your donation.
How Penny Appeal Canada Distributes Zakat
Penny Appeal Canada operates with transparency, integrity, and a mission-driven approach to Zakat distribution. Here’s how they ensure your Zakat goes where it’s most needed:
1. Local Relief Efforts
From food hampers in urban centers to winter survival kits for homeless individuals, your Zakat directly supports marginalized communities across Canada. Programs like “Feeding the Hungry” and Emergency Response tackle immediate needs with compassion and efficiency.
2. Global Outreach
Zakat transcends borders. Penny Appeal Canada allocates funds to vulnerable communities around the world—supporting orphans, providing clean water, offering medical care, and empowering women through education and entrepreneurship.
3. Sustainable Solutions
Instead of offering only short-term relief, Penny Appeal Canada invests in long-term development projects. These include building schools, supporting agricultural training, and funding micro-enterprise initiatives that help lift families out of poverty permanently.
Real Impact: Stories That Matter
Fatima’s Story from Toronto Fatima, a single mother of three, struggled to put food on the table during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a local food security program funded by Zakat donors via Penny Appeal Canada, she received regular grocery deliveries and hygiene kits. Today, she volunteers to give back to the same program that helped her survive those difficult months.
Water Wells in Pakistan In a remote village in Pakistan, your Zakat helped build a well that now serves over 300 families daily. Access to clean water has drastically improved health outcomes and school attendance, especially among young girls who no longer need to walk miles for water.
How to Calculate Your Zakat
Calculating Zakat can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Here’s a quick overview:
Assets considered for Zakat: Cash, gold, silver, investment properties (not primary residence), business inventory, and shares.
Deductible liabilities: Immediate debts, such as credit card balances and bills due.
Nisab threshold: The minimum amount of wealth a Muslim must possess before being obligated to pay Zakat. As of 2025, the Nisab is approximately CAD $6,800 (based on the current market value of silver).
Penny Appeal Canada provides a Zakat Calculator on their website to make this process easy and accurate.
Use the Zakat Calculator to determine your exact obligation today.
Your Zakat. Their Hope.
When you give Zakat through Penny Appeal Canada, you’re not just writing a cheque—you’re delivering hope, dignity, and opportunity. You become part of a growing movement of Canadian Muslims who believe in compassion that builds communities.
With a strong commitment to transparency and 100% Zakat-compliant projects, Penny Appeal Canada ensures that every dollar is used responsibly. You can also receive a donation receipt for tax purposes, making your Zakat beneficial both spiritually and financially.
Get Involved Today
Donate Your Zakat: Visit pennyappeal.ca/zakat to make your donation securely.
Set Up a Monthly Plan: Spread your giving across the year to ease the financial burden and support ongoing projects.
Raise Awareness: Share this article or talk to your family and friends about the importance of giving Zakat in Canada.
Conclusion: Zakat in Canada—A Spiritual and Social Responsibility
Zakat is more than just a financial obligation. It’s a profound act of worship and a powerful tool for social justice. Through organizations like Penny Appeal Canada, Muslims across the country are fulfilling their faith while transforming lives—both here at home and around the world.
This Ramadan, or any time of the year you become eligible, remember that your Zakat has the power to uplift, empower, and inspire. Give with intention. Give with compassion. Give with Penny Appeal Canada.

Ishraaq (ishrak) prayer is Duha (chast) prayer offered at the beginning of its time. Ishraq prayer must be performed when the sun rises about a lance in the sky. Shaykh Ibn Baaz said: Ishraaq prayer is Duha prayer done at the beginning of its time.
Abu Dharr narrated that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wassallam) said, “Every morning there is on the bones and joints of any of you a charitable act. Every saying of 'SubhaanAllah' is a charitable act; every saying of 'Alhumdullilah' is a charitiable act and every saying of ‘Laa illaaha illallah' is a charitable act; every saying ‘Allahu akbar’ is a charitable act; ordering good is a chartiable act; eradicating evil is a charitable act. To fulfill that charity, it is sufficient to pray two Rakat of the forenoon.” (Muslim 364)
The minimum number that has been reported in the case of Duha prayer is two rak‘ahs. Muslim (720) narrated from the hadeeth of Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “…and two rak’ahs offered in the forenoon (Duha) will suffice for that.”
Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) prayed Duha with four rak‘ahs, and with more than that, and with eight rak‘ahs, as on the day of the conquest of Makkah.
The correct view is that there is no specific maximum number for Duha prayer; rather a person may pray as many rak‘ahs as he wants, so long as this prayer is done two rak‘ahs by two.
Concerning its virtue, the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever prays Fajr in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until the sun rises, then prays two rak‘ahs, will have a reward like that of Hajj and ‘Umrah, complete, complete, complete.”
Narrated by at-Tirmidhi (586), from Anas ibn Maalik (may Allah be pleased with him).
It fulfills charity on every joint in your body.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“In the morning, every single joint of yours must pay a sadaqah(charity). Every SubhanAllah is a sadaqah, every Alhamdulillāh is a sadaqah, every La Ilaha Illa Allah is a sadaqah, every Allahu Akbar is a sadaqah, every commanding good is a sadaqah, and every forbidding evil is a sadaqah, and all this is accomplished through two rakʿahs one can pray in Duha [prayer].”
This hadith emphasizes the status and virtue of Duha prayer, two rakʿahs of which is sufficient as a charity on behalf of every joint in the body, and a sign of genuine gratitude to Allah (swt).

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER!
ZAKAT-UL-FITR TO BE PAID BEFORE “EID-UL-FITR PRAYER
The following Hadith also proves that Zakat Al-Fitr is not just a lending hand to the poor and needy but rather a favor we do to ourselves to remove any sins we have committed during Ramadan.
Ibn ’Abbas (Radiyullah) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) enjoined Zakat ul-Fitr on the one who fasts (i.e., fasted during the month of Ramadan) to purify him from any indecent act or speech and for the purpose of providing food for the needy.
It is accepted as Zakah for the person who pays it before the Eid prayer and it is Sadaqah (i.e., voluntary charity) for the person who pays it after the Eid prayer.’ (Abu Dawud)
It is suggested to pay US$ 10.00 person, minimum, but you can pay as much as you can afford to pay. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala accept it, Ameen, and reward you in both the world, Thumma Ameen.
Zakat Al-Fitr is an obligation upon every Muslim, grown-up or a child regardless of the gender, as long as they have what is sufficient to feed them for a day or longer. The head of the family pays for every single member of the family.
It is essential to give Zakat Al-Fitr to those who are eligible to receive it. The recipients consist of the eight group mentioned in Surah at-Tawba, Ayah 60 (Check it out for yourself).
You can start giving Zakat Al-Fitr in the last few days of Ramadan and it must be completed before the Eid Ul-Fitr prayers are conducted; failing to do so invalidates your Zakat.
It is narrated by Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Whoever gives it before the prayer, it is accepted zakaah, and whoever gives it after the prayer, it is a kind of charity.” (Abu Dawood).
In al-Saheehayn it is narrated that Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
“At the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we used to give it at a rate of one saa’ of food, or one saa’ of dates, or one saa’ of barley, or one saa’ of cheese, or one saa’ of raisins…”
Zakat Al-Fitr is an obligation upon every Muslims that has to be completed in the assigned time. This is a generous practice of Islam where it connects the rich with the poor, and the poor with the poorer, thus eliminating poverty and reducing the disparity gap between the rich and the poor. This form of charity ensures no poor person goes hungry during Ramadan and more importantly increases our iman towards Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

#QuoteOfTheDay (20250328):
“Tunaikan zakat, berikan sedekah, kepada yang lemah dan yang membutuhkan.”
Di akhir Ramadhan ini, mari kita perkuat kepedulian sosial kita dengan menginfakkan sebagian harta kita melalui zakat dan sedekah. Allah berfirman, “Wahai orang-orang yang beriman! Infakkanlah sebagian dari rezeki yang telah Kami berikan kepadamu.” (Al-Baqarah: 254). Jangan berlama-lama menunda zakat. Terutama zakat fithri, “Nabi ﷺ memerintahkan (untuk menunaikan) zakat fithri sebelum orang-orang keluar untuk shalat ('Ied).” (al-Bukhari: 1413).
“Puasa mengendalikan diri, sedekah membersihkan jiwa,” pungkasnya.

LAWS PERTAINING TO THE REFORMATION OF BUSINESS DEALINGS IN ISLAM
Islam emphasizes ethical business practices, and if corruption or injustice arises, reformation must align with Shariah principles. The following structured approach outlines how to reform business dealings effectively.
1.FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF ISLAMIC BUSINESS ETHICS
1.1.Honesty & Transparency
Business transactions must be based on truthfulness (Qur’an 83:1-3).
The Prophet ﷺ said: “The seller and buyer have the right to keep or return goods unless they separate, and if both are truthful and clear, their transaction will be blessed.” (Bukhari & Muslim)
1.2.Fair Pricing & No Exploitation
Price manipulation and hoarding are strictly prohibited (Muslim).
1.3.Avoiding Riba (Interest)
Interest (Riba) is forbidden in all forms (Qur’an 2:275-279).
1.4.Contracts & Agreements Must Be Clear
Written contracts and witnesses are required (Qur’an 2:282).
1.5.No Gambling or Speculation
Islam prohibits Maysir (gambling) and Gharar (excessive uncertainty) in transactions.
2.STEPS FOR REFORMING BUSINESS DEALINGS
2.1.Eliminating Haram Practices
2.1.1. Stopping Fraud & Deception
Businesses must avoid false advertising, price fixing, and unfair competition.
2.1.2. Ending Interest-Based Transactions
Adopt Islamic financial models that do not involve Riba.
2.2.Establishing Fair Trade & Justice
2.2.1.Honest Weighing & Measuring
The Qur’an warns against cheating in measurements (Qur’an 83:1-3).
2.2.2. Ensuring Fair Wages for Workers
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Give the worker his wages before his sweat dries.” (Ibn Majah)
2.3. Implementing Islamic Finance & Contracts
2.3.1.Using Shariah-Compliant Business Models
▪️Mudarabah (Profit-sharing partnership)
▪️Musharakah (Joint investment)
▪️Murabaha (Ethical cost-plus sale)
2.3.2.Documenting All Business Agreements
Written contracts prevent disputes (Qur’an 2:282).
2.4.Social Responsibility & Zakat in Business
2.4.1.Paying Zakat (Mandatory Charity)
Businesses must pay 2.5% Zakat to purify wealth (Qur’an 9:103).
2.4.2.Encouraging Sadaqah (Voluntary Charity)
Supporting the poor and community welfare brings blessings.
3.CONSEQUENCES OF UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICES
3.1.Loss of Barakah (Blessings)
Fraudulent business leads to a lack of success.
3.2.Divine Punishment for Corruption
The Qur’an warns of severe punishment for those who engage in Riba and dishonesty (Qur’an 2:279).
3.3.Higher Spiritual & Social Status for Ethical Traders

Breaking an oath in Islam is considered a very serious sin.
If someone has broken an oath they must do the following two things.
1. Seek repentance from Allah
2. Feed or clothe 10 poor people
Islamic Welfare Trust organises regular feeds for poor and needy people.
We provide free hot meals for day workers and labourers.
All Kaffarah donations will be spent on providing cooked hot meals for the poor and needy.
Donate your Kaffarah for breaking the oath online.
