Non-ace attorney guys (allo attorneys, if you will) I need to tell u about my dear friend ryunosuke naruhodou aka Phoenix Wright's canonical peepaw from turn of the century 18-1900s

His assistant is a 16yo wikipedia editor who seems to think of him as a small purse dog who will walk into traffic if she's not careful

Has that certified visual novel (internal dialogue) but it turns out he's constantly mumbling it out loud and people are insulted by it

2 hours after he finds out his best friend in the world has died and he's been accused of killing him, he teams up with famed detective herlock sholmes (yes that's his name) in a showy display of deduction featuring a lot of snappy hand gestures and a seemingly-diagetic spotlight

Becoming a lawyer because of your best friend - because of the boy who stood up to protect you when nobody else would, dragging him out of antagonist status by revealing the truth of his father's death, being the defense attorney to his prosecutor, the blue to his red.... yeah, it turns out that's hereditary.

I swear up and down to high heaven he is wearing winged eyeliner. It's so noticeable when he's on the big screen of my TV

There are official animal versions of all the main characters and his is a mouse with ears the size of its head

With all the head desking Ryunosuke tends to do, I wouldn't be surprised if there's an imprint of his face on the defense bench, and if said bench ended up in a museum of law or something. Imagine Phoenix tells Apollo that his Peepaw's face is immortalized in a defense bench in the British Museum of Law. Apollo for the longest time does not believe this, he doesn't want to believe one of his legal heroes would do something so embarrassing, it's bad enough they're related to Phoenix. Until one day he is dragged along to visit said museum when abroad with Trucy. He sees this and he's just so angry about it and refuses to say much to Phoenix. Trucy has to be the one to tell him that "Polly's just mad that great peepaw Ryu has his face immortalized in a defense bench."

This request has been in my inbox for so long that I forgot the part about messing with him as ghosts...whoops!

So let's just say they did plan for shenanigans, but caught Phoenix at a bad time and couldn't look away from The Horrors.
