Gemini eagerly speaks to P when Sophia's life is on the line, but says nothing when it's P's own after declaring that the only thing he knows now is that they're stuck together on the elevator seconds before the scene…

…it's a bit strange.

Round8 wants to have their cake of a Jiminy-like stand-in character to speak for the silent protag, yet, eat it, too, by never having him speak when it's actually needed, and never having him say much of value to sway P either way as though he's a completely neutral party.

The thing is, he shouldn't be a completely neutral party. He should have thoughts, feelings, and opinions, and be vocal about them. He should be nagging, annoying--that's literally what a conscience is! Plus, consider this:

Gemini knew 3 people:

Lea - she's dead (most likely).

Sophia - she's dead (for the time being; either just spiritually, if left "alive" or physically, too).

P - he's about to give up his heart (and probably die).

And you're telling me he's going to just silently sit on P's hip and not say a single peep as he's about to lose the only person left that he has? NOW? Out of all times???

And during the fight, he doesn't get his own recollection?! What about everything special he JUST said to P throughout the Abbey area?! Gemini is the most fond of P but he doesn't even get to be remembered in that montage!!!

To finally answer your question…I think this has to be one situation where he can't just sit by and watch as the only one he has left sacrifices himself for a mad man.

Gemini clearly has an ego, he clearly has thoughts, feelings, and emotions. His entire purpose as the guide of Monad's Lamp and the "conscience" of P is to lead him impartially towards the path of goodness…but because he has an ego, Gemini is--by the teachings and theme of the entire game, (what it means to be) HUMAN.

I think Round8, in a way, does convey this with this dialogue: After Sophia, Gemini is handing over his responsibility as guide to P by telling him he trusts him, and that he has to be the one to choose his own fate. Not listening to him, even as a guide, or anyone else. This is a nice sentiment.

But in my version of events, he would beg P not to give over his heart. If not for what's right--for, selfishly, ONCE, his own reasons and desires. To try to save P and everything they'd built together over the course of the game (and time traveling if you did DLC......)

Even though he said he trusts P to make his own decisions from now on, I just don't think he'd be able to keep himself quiet. I don't think a real friend could stay quiet in a situation like this, no matter how much they love or trust someone dear; Even if it was supposed to be like a final "test" for P and his blossoming humanity.

I think they should've had Gemini's dialogue filling up the whole fucking screen while the player is forced to make a quick decision as to whether or not to give over their heart. It should've be raw, overwhelming, obnoxious, invasive, desperate, contradictory, and, most of all, human.

At the end of the day, it's still P's choice to make, but he would fucking feel the weight of that choice of having to choose: Does he trust Geppetto, the shady fucker who's only ever sent him into peril the entire game? Or does he trust Gemini, who's been with him every step of the way?

Then, the people who hate on Gemini can choose the "wrong" decision to spite him and get fucked and have to play a whole new playthrough to face Nameless Puppet haha.

TLDR, the way Round8 wrote it is not wrong, and it still has a lot of impact, and beauty, and meaning. But I think Gemini should've played a bigger role overall in P's choices and story, and should've been allowed to have more agency. Though I do think it would've muddied up the story a bit and made it less neat and tidy with a bow, I, personally, find that more "human" than anything else, so.

I really like my human (well still a puppet technically) design for Gemini! I used some pictures I found on pinterest for inspiration for it, but also Lea’s stalker outfit because I mean… he was Lea’s… something. We still don’t know. Neowiz why must you hurt me

I’ve been shipping em since I made this design for Gemini but I also like them platonically because it’s just perfect. Pinocchio’s been through so much the poor guy, but he’s always had a friend with him. Sophia might’ve been the first voice he heard, but Gem was the first friend he had. And they’ve stuck with each other since. I just love em ahhhhdhjdjd

I like to think Gemini is equivalent to Pino as Romeo is to Carlo. It’s cute :)

Hunted - Edward Woodward and June Ritchie - Pemini

Hunted (short film, 1972)

This very-little-seen British short film about a gunman and the real-estate agent he takes hostage feels a lot more like a 40-minute TV 'play for today' from the seventies than an actual motion picture, and I'm not sure where it was shown when first released. Apparently it was made on a budget of only one thousand pounds, in a few days in a single room: the photography is dull and unremarkable, and there's little action, so everything rests upon the writing and performances of the cast of two.

June Ritchie is perfectly adequate as the terrified estate agent but Edward Woodward raises his role as the gunman to a much higher standard, with presence and detail in every moment, and the film's success rests almost entirely on his shoulders, being almost one long soliloquy. The story itself is fairly routine and predictable, but it slots each new piece of plot development into play in ways that keep the tension building and the momentum moving forwards, and never gets boring.

"Hunted" doesn't do anything well enough to make it a classic, but as a largely lost short film from the past, made for practically nothing and then forgotten for 50 years, it's a nice treat to discover.

• It was easy, at first, accepting that you had a crush on that puppet boy. That you really liked him. He was clever, beautiful, strong, and above all, he was sweet. Even though his Ergo heart was mechanical, there was so much warmth and kindness inside it. That is why you fell so deeply for him. 

• That was, until you realized that the puppet boy in question always carried that lamp with him. It was styled in the same fashion as all of those cricket guide puppets sold in Krat- but this one, "Gemini", was different. He was sapient, like P himself.

• Not only did Gemini speak, but he appeared emotionally attached to P as much as P was attached to him. Everywhere P went, Gemini did. Every emotion P felt, no matter how small, the cricket puppet always noticed. And had some stupid comment about it.

• It was beyond clear that P held love in his heart for Gemini especially. P was even affectionate with the small puppet- sometimes he'd even plant a kiss on the metal lamp's exterior before leaving him somewhere. Much to your envy. He'd kiss a lamp, but wouldn't so much as notice you? You needed to get P's attention.

• The lamp thwarted every attempt you made to entice P. If you wanted to have a talk with him, Gemini would always interrupt with some task he remembered they needed to do and P would be sent away on another mission. When you were together, Gemini would ruin any opportunity you had with a stupid pun. The sheer unfunny aura of the lamp spoiled everything.

• Getting P by himself was possible, if difficult. He wasn't just sweet and handsome, but he was fun, too- even though he seemed to have inherited his sense of humor from the lamp. In the short periods you had together, alone, you enjoyed playing with the Hotel's cat, listening to music and savoring light conversation. The puppet boy liked jokes and puns, and apparently never had a shortage of them.

• To your delight, P quickly became relaxed and happy around you. When he wasn't fighting or killing, his spare time at Hotel Krat was spent showing you some treasure he found or sitting with you conversing. That twitch in his legion arm eased, and the icy indifference in his eyes melted away.

• It was instantly and abundantly clear that the lamp did not like your association with P. When Gemini spoke to P in front of you, it was always "us" this, and "we" that. If the small puppet had eyes, surely he would be staring you down.

• Eventually, P kissed you for the first time. It was a small kiss, no more than a peck on the cheek. But after this, the resistance from P's lamp only increased tenfold.

• Of course P told Gemini about the kiss, you thought- they were literally joined at the hip. Soon, when you even approached P, his lamp would disrupt. "We're heading out for a mission, pal," the lamp would inform you, barely hiding his disdain.

• Gemini absolutely will not back off here. He was with P from the very beginning, since the moment he woke up. They're companions, two puppets supporting and guiding each other. As far as he was concerned, P was his partner.

• It was not long before observant P noticed the palpable tension between you and his guide. Of course it was awkward for him. Actually, it was bordering on embarrassing. And ridiculous.

• "Are you... Fighting? Over me?" P asked one day, incredulous. Followed by a hasty "no" from you and a forceful "YES" from Gemini.

• The latent hostility between you two became so unbearable that P just started turning Gemini off when he wanted to spend time with you. Gemini got him the rest of the time, so P felt like this was a decent tradeoff without having to wade in the constant awkwardness you and his lamp were subjecting him to.

• It got to the point where Gemini wouldn't even let you make any jokes. He will literally make cricket sounds if you attempt to make any wisecracks around P to get him to laugh.

• Eventually, you realized you must come to a begrudging truce with each other. You and the lamp. You acknowledged that Gemini is always with P, and in some ways, he's a part of P- but that you also loved the puppet boy and everyone knew that he loved you in return. Gemini probably came away from this with understanding, but a bit of smugness and confidence, too. The two puppets are part of one whole. They won't ever be separated.

• Co-existing with Gemini becomes a fact of life. This is how it is. P still enjoyed your company and relished the blossoming love between you, but Gemini had to be a part of his life too. He made this clear to the both of you-- he doesn't feel complete with either of you gone.

Hi Lies of P fandom

I got into LoP early last year and I just bought it last month when it was on sale when Overture came out. I haven’t been able to play it as much as I’d like since I’ve always got other things to tend to and am constantly busy, but last I left off I just beat Fuoco.

Anyways yeah my first piece of LoP fanart I’m sharing on tumblr is a sketch of Pino with Gemini except he’s in a new puppet body. More humanoid. Because he deserves it. I’m not the first to think of Gemini getting a new body post-game, but this is my take on it with my own design.

Lowkey I fw the Pemini ship. That’s why I did this lol. Cause they deserve to hold hands. And kiss. Give each other proper hugs. Go on double dates with Carlo and Romeo. Be absolute menaces to society. Spit on Geppetto’s grave. Be the best ‘pals’ in history ❤️

Lol I’ll clean and colour this tomorrow and post the final thing, I just wanted to share this. I will draw more LoP stuff and no one can stop me 🙂‍↕️

Dipping my toes into the au side of this fandom, have a human Gemini Design. This was somewhat inspired by @dollettodraws design which I saw a while back, but given my own spin and headcanons. And yes, before you ask, this is mostly an excuse to draw cute Pemini art (I'll post some soon). I also tried out something different with the Black and White picture, since I thought it would be fun to draw something that looked a little like an in game Recollection, like P picked it up somewhere :>

Malam ini seorang teman mengirim ss insta story dari bekas muridnya dulu waktu dia magang, how time flies so fast yang dulunya masih anak SMP sekarang sudah jadi anak kuliahan. 

Yang bikin teman terkaget adalah cara berfikir si adek sekarang sudah sangat liberal, kebetulan saya tau background dari si adek itu, saat temen ngirim itu saya cuma bilang : long story kak, dia tidak jadi demikian seketika, kakaknya aktivis LaGiBeTeQ yang merupakal ultimate goal dari orang-orang peminis wkwkwk (yang bagian ini saya ngarang tapi hampir kek gitu faktanya), kakaknya yang satu pernah temen saya pergoki sedang berzina dan jadi berita yang sangat gempar diangkatan SMA kami dulu

Yaps si adek itu lahir di keluarga yang sekilas utuh tapi penuh permasalahan, kedua orangtuanya doyan selingkuh kiri-kanan, harta? ya tidak perlu ditanya orang-orang demikian selalu Allah lebihkan rezeki.

Dulu saya pikir orang-orang seperti itu adalah suatu keanehan yang luarbiasa, tapi setelah menela’ah dan berfikir serta diskusi mengenai kehidupan ini, darimana? untuk apa? akan kemana? kenapa sekarang orang banyak yang Muslim bahkan diri saya sendiri tapi sangat jauh dari Islam, bahkan tidak mengenal agamanya sendiri? kenapa bisa seperti ini?

Kenapa kita cuma diajarin sholat, zakat, puasa, naik haji, selama sekolah kurikulum pendidikan sekolah negeri kok sama aja, sampe kuliah ada mata kuliah wajib PAI tapi isinya ya sama aja seperti pelajaran yang kita pelajari dari zaman SD-SMA kan agama jadi sesuatu yang gak asik dan membosankan kalau demikian.

Karena mempelajari Islam secara lebih mendalam dan menyeluruh bahwa hidup ini tidak melulu solusinya ‘sholat & sabar’ karena ada anak-anak yang jiwa pemberontak membutuhkan jawaban yang lebih logic kayak saya dulu.

Nah karena belajarnya total saya jadi punya sedikit sikap empathy pada teman-teman yang besar dalam keluarga demikian dan jumlah ini tidak sedikit tapi banyak, ada penjelasan secara syariat yang berkaitan dengan faktor Eksternal seperti kontrol negara & masyarakat, juga internal kontrol keluarga & individu serta cara berfikir yang dibangun adalah cara berfikir apa.

Namun hasil dari sikap empathy yang saya dapatkan dari mengkaji Islam itu tidak akan membenarkan tapi memahami kenapa orang bisa jadi liberal padahal Muslim bisa ada, iya sih setiap keluarga pasti punya masalah, keluarga saya maupun keluarga teman-teman. 

Tapi keluarga bener-bener bermasalah kalau orangtua sudah sering berzina diluar, gimana perasaan temen-temen yang bapaknya satu, mamanya satu tapi papa & mama dirumah seperti orang asing namun simpanan mereka ada dimana-mana?

gimana perasaan temen-temen yang sering menyaksikan pertengkaran hebat kedua orangtua temen-temen itu? bagaimana perasaan temen-temen hidup didalam keluarga yang sering didatengi debt collector? tapi yang oranglain tau kalian orang kaya karena rumahnya besar, mobilnya banyak, tapi mereka gak tau hutang orangtua kalian ada dimana-mana.

Bahkan ada seorang kenalannya temen yang jadi aktivis peminis karena memendam rasa benci pada ayahnya yang sangat mendalam.

bagaimana tidak? menurut dia kehidupan sekarang itu menjajah perempuan, laki-laki sangat diagung-agungkan sedangkan perempuan dianggap makhluk kelas bawah, dia hidup dalam keluarga demikian, yang mamanya kerja sebagai IRT lalu ayahnya kerja diluar dan kalau pulang kerumah semuanya diurusin mamanya tidak peduli mamanya sakit/sehat, kalau mamanya salah sedikit papanya akan marah-marah.

Persis sinetron Indosiar udah, saya cuma bisa mengira si kenalan teman jadi demikian karena dari kecil sering manyaksikan kehidupan yang menurutnya patriaki itu, apalagi kalau ayahnya rajin sholat ke Masjid dan punya sikap demikian tambah-tambah agama jadi hal yang dia benci bukan karena pengetahuannya tentang agama tapi karena perilaku ayahnya sendiri.

Ujung-ujungnya lari ke Mabok dsj, karena kala sadar kehidupan terlalu menyakitkan, mungkin?

Entahlah, teman-teman yang merasakan itu, tapi tidak semua anak yang orangtuanya demikian lari pada obat-obatan dan sejenisnya walau jumlahnya sangat sedikit sih.

Keluarga itu ujian, apapun bentuknya, kita hanya perlu merenung dan kalau menurut kita keluarga kita tidak ideal maka terimalah dulu segala keadaan itu, dengan menerima artinya kita ridho pada takdir Allah yang menciptakan kita melalui keluarga demikian, karena kalau kita tidak mampu ikhlas menerima keadaan yang ada kita hanya akan kesal atau bahkan akan berbuat serupa, lebih baik diterima baik-buruknya terlebih dahulu.

Setelah itu baru kita identifikasi apa yang harus diperbaiki, apa yang bisa kita perbaiki apa yang yasudahlah biarkan itu jadi urusan orangtua kita dengan Allah, kalau kita masih punya ayah & ibu maka bersyukurlah mereka masih hidup, bayangkan kalau mereka meninggal? kita akan kehilangan sensasi drama yang mereka perbuat haha.

Kalau orangtua ada tapi tidak bertanggung jawab malah membuang kita? yasudah terima saja, mereka akan mempertanggung jawabkan apa yang mereka lakukan pada kita dihadapan Allah nanti. Allah gak akan nanya ke kita persoalan yang gak bisa kita pilih manteman.  

Dan buat teman-teman yang merasa orangtuanya toxic karena sering ngomel, lebih baik introspeksi diri dulu, lalu berfikir apakah iya saya salah? kalau tidak, maka lihatlah orangtua kita dengan perasaan iba, kenapa? ibu kita bukan hanya harus mengurus rumah, kalau dia bekerja dia punya beban pekerjaan, belum kalau ayah kita tidak bertanggung jawab atau menyebalkan.

Pahami orangtua kita itu manusia yang kadang cuma butuh dimengerti, ada jenis orangtua emang yang sebenarnya dia marah kesiapa tapi anak yang kena, masih mending, ada yang marah sama anak kecewa sama anak, tapi malah orang lain yang kena semprot mulu, ada kejadian nyata, temen saya mertuanya itu kecewa sama anak mereka karena mereka tidak sanggup marahin anaknya, segala kesalahan anaknya diungkit-ungkit didepan teman saya, seolah-olah teman saya itu yang menjadi penyebab masalah anaknya.

Tapi begitulah manusia, kita, orangtua kita punya banyak kekurangan salah satunya dalam communication skill bukan cuma pada anak, bahkan pada pasangan, kalau orangtua kita tidak bersedia belajar, maka kita saja yang belajar, lalu kita lihat mereka dengan pandangan yang penuh simpathy & empathy.
