One of the great parts about being back at school has been getting to coach and play with the @uoftmusic Percussion Ensemble. I've gone from being the youngest undergrad to being the oldest person in the department by a few years which is alternately a bit terrifying but also exciting to be able to pass on a lot of the knowledge that I've accrued from playing with @torqpercussion. Played a super fun show with TorQ and the Penderecki String Quartet last night . "Hard Wired" featured music by Mason Bates, Daniel Morphy, the Canadian premiere of Augusta Read Thomas's "Selene" and the world premiere of Nicole Lizée's "Games People Play", a TorQ/PSQ commission. Instruments used include two Pocket Operator synths, compressed air can, two boom boxes, Popmatic Trouble, and two Simons, in addition to a whole whack of percussion (and the strings of course). Special thanks to PSQ for being excellent collaborators, to THEMUSEUM for providing such a cool venue, and to Open Ears for programming us as part of the festival. Also thanks as always to all the companies (Yamaha, Innovative, Dream, Black Swamp, Remo) that make great gear that TorQ is proud to use and that help support what we do.
