The worst part is that she and Yuri got all the Lara Jean and Peter love iconic scenes in season 1 and now what?
They just give them to Kitty and Min Ho because a straight relantionship needs to win??

Peter Kavinsky liked Lara Jean before their fake relationship
Tumblr media
So, after watching the entire second season of XO Kitty, I felt the need to rewatch To All the Boys I've Loved Before. I was trying to think back to what happened and the plot had completely slipped my mind (shame on me, I know lol). It's so cute and such an iconic, classic teen romcom of my generation...I genuinely don't know how I forgot it.
Anyhow, something I love is that Peter very clearly liked Lara Jean from the very, very beginning. I feel like it can't be considered "feelings that just happened to develop from more time together" trope. It's just the two of them being silly, stupid teenagers who don't pick up on their own feelings from the start and then it further develops from like to love. So, this post is dedicated to this. I love this movie. It's so comforting. I could go on about it for ages lol.
Disclaimer: I have not read any of the books. I have not watched any of the sequels. This post is entirely based off of the original movie.
The idea of the "fake relationship"
Unlike Yuri and Dae, who had a faux relationship due to Yuri being closeted, Dae struggling financially, and Yuri's family wanting a better reputation, Peter thinks a faux relationship with Lara Jean is a good way to make his ex-girlfriend want him back. But, let's seriously think about this. There was no 100% guarantee Gen would try to get him back. Sure, she was jealous that Lara Jean kissed him. BUT, that doesn't necessarily mean she'd try to wreck their relationship to get back with him. She could've just sat there fuming jealously without doing anything or just turn away and move on, knowing they're together.
Not only is there no guarantee, but Peter is committing to months of being seen with Lara Jean and had it in mind to kiss her as a way of being more convincing (yeah, "more convincing" my ass). This leads me to my next point.
Being "convincing"
If Peter didn't like Lara Jean, if he didn't think she was pretty, if he thought she wasn't anything special, he would NOT have thought of this idea in the first place, nor tried to be so convincing that their relationship is real. But, he came up with this crazy idea AND wanted to kiss her to really go in on this faux relationship. No guy who doesn't feel that way about a girl would go all-in the way that he did unless they were the biggest player out there who's incredibly altruistic.
Mind you, they had dates behind the scenes. They agreed to two movie nights right from the start which only they - and Kitty - are going to see, nobody else. Peter also didn't need to take Lara Jean to his friends' party - he could've just said, "She couldn't make it. She had something else going on."
Tumblr media
Peter had truly convinced himself that he was doing this all to simply get Gen back and that he didn't have any romantic feelings for Lara Jean, especially since she was less popular and he'd just gotten out of his relationship with Gen. But, again, no normal guy would think of the idea to start a faux relationship and go as far as kissing and going on dates with the fake girlfriend. Hell, his first instinct when Lara Jean said, "Let's do this." was to kiss her passionately in front of all his teammates - Gen nor friends of hers were there to witness.
Tumblr media
He got jealous of there being more than one love letter
Peter originally thought she had only written one letter just for him. When Lara Jean explained there was five letters, all for different guys, he got really defensive. He was trying to play it off as nonserious and sarcastic, but we all know it hurt that it wasn't just him. I know it's a shot to the ego, but there's too many other reasons supporting him liking Lara Jean that it more so hurt Peter's feelings than just his ego.
Tumblr media
He knows she liked him before
This all started from Lara Jean's old love letters. However, even though it's old, that doesn't necessarily mean Lara Jean stopped liking Peter, despite what she claimed. Feelings can linger or reignite, plus people can have multiple crushes. So 1) Peter didn't consider this, 2) He knew and was secretly hoping it'd turn into a real relationship, or 3) He knew it could be possible but chose to disregard it.
Peter most likely didn't consider it, but we don't know that for sure. It's not talked about (at least in the first movie). So, Peter might have known and secretly hoped without realizing it (or he pushed those feelings down). But, no matter what, he still knew Lara Jean at least used to have feelings for him and still put himself at risk being in a faux relationship with her (although we all know this was no risk for him).
Peter liked her back then, too
Lara Jean's crush on him started with that kiss back in middle school. But notice how Peter also mentions how that kiss was hot for him back in 7th grade. It's clear that Gen just had the confidence to get in a relationship with him and steamroll Lara Jean who didn't have that same confidence to ever confess her feelings to Peter. But, that obviously doesn't mean Peter never liked Lara Jean. He never pushed away from the kiss or thought badly of it.
So, with that being said, Peter definitely had his own lingering feelings for Lara Jean in high school, but just picked to date Gen first. It also doesn't help that Lara Jean isn't a popular kid like Peter and Gen, and she sadly isn't considered "conventionally attractive" by high school standards.
And, in the end, we do learn from Gen that she was intimidated by Lara Jean and that Peter doesn't have as much confidence as most people think he does. That explains it all. I liked that they added that touch in the end. It's nice seeing the "mean girl" own up to her self-projections.
I also wanted to add, Peter didn't make fun of Lara Jean's boots like Gen did. He noticed them and later told Lara Jean that he thought they were cool. Him not siding with Gen just because they were together and actually paying attention to her boots in the first place speaks volumes. If someone picks up on and remembers small details about you, they care about you a lot.
Conclusion
There's way too many signs that Peter liked Lara Jean right from the start, he just didn't realize or care to admit it. I think it's cute that this is how the plot went - made to seem like a "feelings just happened to develop from more time together" trope, but there were definitely feelings there all along. It's a perfect teen romcom and I'll never not enjoy it.

Woke up and am headed to work still thinking about it.
Also Aglaya in a nightgown I am WEAK 🖤
Makes me wonder, though, what type of partner do you think would be a good match for some of the other characters? Specifically Katerina, Yulia, Peter, and Grief?
🐿️ anon
Aglaya in a nightgown lives rent-free in my head, the idea alone gets my face hot and knees weak this mental image is too powerful.
I think realistically, she'd prefer a classic silk nightgown, black and sleek. Very little to no lace at all, something of a vintage cut to fit the time period of the game. The nightgown would be on the longer side, very airy, and doesn't hug the body.
But MY HEART desires something a little more risqué, you could say. I want her in a short nightgown with lace and small ruffles, still black, bc it is her iconic colour. A definite modern design Purely self indulgent bc I am a simp.
Or maybe a flowy dramatic nightgown? the firrly kind that comes with a feathery rope.
And hmm do yoh mean like in a ship or a good match logistically? Like how Lara starts a shelter and mirrors Alexander Saburov in a lot of virtues and traits?
If it's the first one, I ship everything but nothing in particular? The only ships I'm passionate about are Aglaya and Artemy's doomed roomance, sometimes Burakhovsky too.
If it's the latter and I get to play match maker in order to create the most efficient couple who would help each other in reaching their goals rather than based on love, they'd be:
Katerina and Maria
Listen, Katerina wants to be a mistress desperately, and the pressure of the responsibility is leading her downhill.
If we simply marry her off to a capital M Misteress, then there is no pressure for her to prefrom bc her wife would've already taken care of it.
Katerina can live a happy life and not worry about being infertile since her and Maria would'nt have had children of their own either way. They can happily adopt.
You might ask, what's in it for Maria?
How about landing the final hit to the declining powerhouse Saburov and completely ereasing it from the board? better yet, she stole the queen to her side of the chessboard.
Would they love each other? hmm unlikely. But I don't think they'd care. Maria loved the bachelor but she still married younger Vlad just to rule the town afterwards. Alexander loved Katerina more than life itself but it wasn't enough to get her out of her mental breakdown. These two women do not care for love as much as they care for results, so they balance each other.
Yulia and her roommate
Eva is a BAD TIME for her. Yulia might be hopelessly smitten with her golden locks, innocent fawn eyes and romantic view on life, but it will never work. Especially with Yulia's fatalistic views and tendency to relay on logic.
Eva wants to preform in life and Yulia wants to remain an observer which is why they would clash. Eva wants to find her purpose and Yulia believes life is inherently purposeless. They would hurt each other no matter how much they love one another. Eva might get over it afterwards but that breakup would shatter Yulia's fragile nerves.
That's why I think her engineer roommate in P2 is the best option. Someone who can stand her enough to live together is definitely someone who would be perfect for her. That roommate probably saw her through the lowest of her moments and helped her get back up. It's a best friends to lovers situation.
But if I had to pick a prominent character, I'd go with Aglaya or Peter. Sadly I don't see Aglaya having much interest in Yulia, she might bore her tbh. It's a one sided attraction on Yulia's side.
For Peter, they would make each other so much worse. Wallowing in their melancholy and being emo in general. Peter would ask her to snuff cigarettes out on his neck and Yulia would oblige.
There is always Yulia and Dankovsky? They mirror each other, they have so many things in common such as philosophy and latin. They also would annoy the shit out of each other by being so obnoxious all the goddamn time.
Good. Let them save the rest of the world from each other.
But ah, Yulia is strongly implied to be a butch lesbian isn't she? She'd probably pass on all the men.
Peter and....?
What besides his twin? lmao okay no no. I think Anna Angel. Maybe he has a crush? They are friends in canon and let's be fr for a second who would befriend Peter Stamatin out of free will? Anna would.
They could work together? Bpd queen and Depression king. She is a singer and an acrobat, he is a painter and an architect. They both value art but not in the same obnoxious way art consumers do, rather in the messy way artists do. How people who make art can appreciate it's ugliness and the struggle in a way that the people who merely look at art can never.
We're just hitting two birds with one rock by putting their dolls together. Anna solves her fear of being found out since Peter and Andrey would protest her if it happens. Like they killed people for less before.
And Peter now has someone who sings around, didn't he enjoy how Grace sang lullabies to his paintings? He likes music and it might inspire him to make art again.
There will be love but I wouldn't call it romantic.
Bad Grief and ARTEMY
FUCK YEAH MY SHIP MY SHIP!
They used to be best friends! While Lara and Rubin abandoned Grief thinking he truly turned to the bad side, Artemy still saw good in him when he came back. They were kids running in grass fields together and climbing trees.
Grief is the first person to help you when you arrive, you get a stash of goodies from his cupboard during the first day. He immediately gives you a job and still rewards you whether you fail or succeed. He clearly has a soft spot for Artemy.
Also he is a simp, like clear as day. There are so many lines when he is being embarrassingly down bad. Calling Artemy's hands precious surgeon hands that should be protected, saying it's no problem if Artemy killed his men, it's their fault for messing with him in the first place.
But would they work together? would they bring out the best for each other and solve each other's problems?
HA. No.
So I propose, drum roll please!.....Grief and Victor Kain.
Clocksmiths? More like COCKSMITHS.
Grief freshly had his mind broken by Aglaya, Victor had his mind broken years ago by Aglaya's sister, Nina. They both like tinkering with clocks.
Grief questions his reality a lot, Victor questions the flow of time a lot. Victor holds enough statues in town to redeem Grief in the eyes of the people, Grief holds enough experience as a gang leader and a necessary evil to balance the scales in town. He lets his gang get away with crime as long as its petty and no one gets killed. He knows a gang will exist with or without him so he'd rather be in charge to make sure to minimise the costs.
And it is surprisingly noble and thoughtful of him. Victor must really appreciate that.
will there be love? eh...maybe? not really. But there will be mutual respect and admiration above all.
-
Anyway what are your thoughts? I don't feel strongly on any of these pairings tbh. I don't ship them I'm just throwing stuff on the wall and seeing what sticks.

Hi Mei question what are you favorite characters from all fiction? Because in my case i have about top 10 list plus honorable mentions:
1. Spider-man (Peter Parker and Miles Morales) (Marvel Comics)- I honestly love these two spider-man because how relatable they are. Not to mention i feel like they are the definition of responsability. I honestly related to Peter Parker's nerdy actitud and humor along with Miles's personality wise. I also love the fact thag Miles have a strong love for his family as well. Not to mention both of these characters don't give up no matter how hopeless things gets.
2. Superman (DC Comics)- Some people considered superman boring but i really love his caracter because he embodies Hope. Not to mention he is someone who always tries to do what is right and have a very strong moral compass. I still remember when i was younger and saw superman returns when he lifted the kypotonite Island. Even when it was killing him he still keep going and never gave up that's is inspiration.
3. Batman (DC Comics)- If we ignored all the batman with prep time thing. Batman is actually a well written character. Especially since he tries to do the right thing for his city. I also love the fact that even though he is human and is very aware of that he plans ahead and works very hard. The fact that mlst characters in the DC world respects him that speaks volumen.
4. Optimus Prime (Transformers)- I love optimus prime for me he is what a leader should be. Selfless, just and someone who always fights for freedom no matter what. He is the leader that i wish i could be.
5. Kratos (God of war franchise). To a bloodthirty and revenge seeking spartan to a reedem warrior. As someone who played the OG god of war games. Kratos in the recent years have one of the best character development, especially now in the recent DLC.
6. Anakin Skywalker Aka Darth Vader (Star Wars)- he went to a slave to the Dark lord of the Sith. Once a hero became the villain by fear of lost of loved one. For me Anakin is a tragic character who wanted to protect the love of his life but failed and became the thing he was supposed to destroy. At the end he was redeemed thanks to his son.
7. Black Panther (Marvel Comics)- i love his character intelligent, strong and just for his people and his kingdom. The fact that Chadwick Boseman (Rest in Peace) played such and awesome character made it better.
8. Wonder Woman (DC Comics)- The proud amazonian and a proud member of the Justice League. She is strong, honorable and compassionate making her an Icon and a part of DC trinity.
9. The Flash (Barry Allen, DC comics)- i love is perseverance and willpower since he never gave up on searching for his mother's killer. After becoming the fastest man alive is character development continue and his death on infinite crisis was a huge moment.
10. John Wick (John Wick series)- the legendary baba yaga this man willpower and tenacity made me love his character by a lot. He has an impresive body count and commites to his mision. To think all of that started with a puppy left behind by his late wife. What i like about his character is that he never stop until he got his revenge.
Honorable Mention
Issac Clarke (dead space series)- An engineer who was on the wrong place at the wrong time. To a dependable and selfless survivor.
Kiana Kaslana (Honkai Impact 3rd)- the naive girl to the strongest valkyrie in the honkai series.
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider series)- one of the greatest if not THE greatest Adventurer in all of gaming.
Nathan Drake (Uncharted)- One of sony most charming and beloved characters.
Leon Kennedy (Resident Evil series)-Rookie cop to a well experience agent of the resident evil franchise.
I see you like superheroes! My siblings were mostly into anime, so that's what I grew up with instead of Marvel/DC comics. I've been wanting to get into them for years now, but there are so many movies and heroes that it's a bit overwhelming... I also don't have the attention span to sit through an entire movie.
I wouldn't be able to choose any favorites with how much fiction I've read/watched/played, but here are some characters I've really enjoyed recently in no particular order:
Dr. Mobius - She's insane. Literally. She has a sad backstory, but it doesn't tie that much into why she goes to such extents to achieve her goals. I just like morally grey characters in general. I also really like her dynamics with the other flamechasers!
Frieren - She's so unserious, but she's come a long way. She went from not really caring about humans, only spending her time pursuing magic, to actively helping out anyone she sees in need like Himmel used to. To be loved is to be changed, they say. She's just an old woman traveling around the world with her adopted grandchildren while collecting the remaining traces of the 10-year adventure that she treasured the most in her 1000+ years alive.
Rudeus Greyrat - Okay. Before people burn me alive, he's absolutely disgusting and a pedophile. Yet, at the same time, that's what makes his character development way more impactful. He went from worse than trash and the maggots living inside it to worse than cattle, which is still a pretty big improvement in my book. The main reason why I put him here, though, is because of the scene where he reunited with his father. I'm not a very expressive person, but that scene had me tearing up because of how relatable it was.
Elysia - I love her, and the best part is that she'd probably love me too! She went through so much, saw the worst of humanity, and still decided to love the entirety of it. I really admire how she can see beauty in anything and everything. She wasn't even supposed to exist. She was an anomaly, and yet she was what saved everyone. Also, the one thing we have in common is our love for pretty girls.
Miles Morales - ITSV and ATSV are one of the only Marvel movies I've watched, and I enjoyed both of them immensely! They blended 2D and 3D animation techniques so well together, the halftones were used really well, and all of the colors really made the characters pop. I could go on for hours about how well the movies were animated, but back to the point— even though he's a hero, and a very reliable one at that, the show doesn't let us forget that he's still a kid. He still has to balance his responsibilities while at the same time, fighting crime and dealing with puberty. He also just seems like a really chill person to be friends with. We're both into similar branches of science and art, so I think we'd get along pretty well.

Libby Spotlight: New eAudiobooks
Tom Lake by Ann Patchett (read by Meryl Streep)
In the spring of 2020, Lara’s three daughters return to the family's orchard in Northern Michigan. While picking cherries, they beg their mother to tell them the story of Peter Duke, a famous actor with whom she shared both a stage and a romance years before at a theater company called Tom Lake. As Lara recalls the past, her daughters examine their own lives and relationship with their mother, and are forced to reconsider the world and everything they thought they knew.
Tom Lake is a meditation on youthful love, married love, and the lives parents have led before their children were born. Both hopeful and elegiac, it explores what it means to be happy even when the world is falling apart.
American Prometheus by Kai Bird & Martin J. Sherwin (read by Jeff Cummings)
American Prometheus is a full-scale biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer, "father of the atomic bomb," the brilliant, charismatic physicist who led the effort to capture the awesome fire of the sun for his country in time of war. Immediately after Hiroshima, he became the most famous scientist of his generation - one of the iconic figures of the twentieth century, the embodiment of modern man confronting the consequences of scientific progress.
He was the author of a radical proposal to place international controls over atomic materials - an idea that is still relevant today. He opposed the development of the hydrogen bomb and criticized the Air Force's plans to fight an infinitely dangerous nuclear war. In the now almost-forgotten hysteria of the early 1950s, his ideas were anathema to powerful advocates of a massive nuclear buildup, and, in response, Atomic Energy Commission chairman Lewis Strauss, Superbomb advocate Edward Teller and FBI director J. Edgar Hoover worked behind the scenes to have a hearing board find that Oppenheimer could not be trusted with America's nuclear secrets.
American Prometheus sets forth Oppenheimer's life and times in revealing and unprecedented detail. Exhaustively researched, it is based on thousands of records and letters gathered from archives in America and abroad, on massive FBI files and on close to a hundred interviews with Oppenheimer's friends, relatives, and colleagues.
Pageboy by Elliot Page (read by Elliot Page)
“Can I kiss you?” It was two months before the world premiere of Juno, and Elliot Page was in his first ever queer bar. The hot summer air hung heavy around him as he looked at her. And then it happened. In front of everyone. A previously unfathomable experience. Here he was on the precipice of discovering himself as a queer person, as a trans person. Getting closer to his desires, his dreams, himself, without the repression he’d carried for so long. But for Elliot, two steps forward had always come with one step back.
With Juno’s massive success, Elliot became one of the world’s most beloved actors. His dreams were coming true, but the pressure to perform suffocated him. He was forced to play the part of the glossy young starlet, a role that made his skin crawl, on and off set. The career that had been an escape out of his reality and into a world of imagination was suddenly a nightmare.
As he navigated criticism and abuse from some of the most powerful people in Hollywood, a past that snapped at his heels, and a society dead set on forcing him into a binary, Elliot often stayed silent, unsure of what to do. Until enough was enough.
Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher (read by Jennifer Blom)
There's a princess trapped in a tower. This isn't her story.
Meet Toadling. On the day of her birth, she was stolen from her family by the fairies, but she grew up safe and loved in the warm waters of faerieland. Once an adult though, the fae ask a favor of Toadling: return to the human world and offer a blessing of protection to a newborn child. Simple, right?
But nothing with fairies is ever simple.
Centuries later, a knight approaches a towering wall of brambles, where the thorns are as thick as your arm and as sharp as swords. He's heard there's a curse here that needs breaking, but it's a curse Toadling will do anything to uphold…
