Peter Elfelt (1866 - 1931), Danish photographer and pioneer filmmaker. Captivated by the Lumière show at the Grand Café in Paris, he obtained plans for a cinematographe (after unsuccessfully trying to purchase one) and had one built in Denmark. He began filming in 1897, almost all actualities. Since he was also the Danish Royal photographer (appointed in 1901), many of his films are of the Danish Royal family.
