Just noticed that Crafty's work is still out there. If it's a good idea for me to ask; What did you think of the old show and its characters, if you don't mind me asking?

I talked about it before, especially when I still had a Twitter and me and a good chunk of the old production team shared our thoughts and experiences with the project and Crafty himself.

I am torn. For one, I can not pull a "seperate the art from the artist" thing here, on so many levels. This project was both the work of MANY, as the production team was pretty big despite what he wante people to believe, but it also is Crafty's brainchild through and through. And he hurt a lot of people in many different ways that they are still healing from. I know I am too, to some degree.

Know that many of the characters on Crafty's shows were OCs of other people from the production team - basically all of the women were. And I do like many of them on their own, away from the setting the got put into for the show. I am especially fond of Pepper!

But also, Crafty had a habit of not crediting people. In general, but also for ideas for plots, side-shows and characters.

Thinking about it, there were elements of the project that I am still fond of, but that's maybe because I was involved in creating aspects of them - especially the Infinia (the eldritch gods that were turned into objects) and also the "final boss" of the series, since I designed her - which would've been the creator of the Infinia and an eldritch goddess in her own right. Even if the viewers only ever got a small glimpse of her before the show got canceled.

I think I personally will take the work I did and rework it for my own creative endeavors. I am not letting Crafty take something that I poured my heart and time into.

A bit nervous to ask, given how others asked about the topic about Crafty at hand, but what do you think about Sasha?

Ah, it's alright. Folks are curious, I understand that.

I hope I won't repeat too much from what I said about her in the past, but it is what it is - I liked Sasha as a character a lot. For one her eldritch nature, but also her strive to learn how to healthily love a human being. I know Crafty saw her and his scientist as his one OTP… but honestly, I don't think it would've made for a very healthy relationship.

What's sad to me though, aside from a few glimpses at her life (becoming a movie director), we don't know much about Sasha as a person. To me, she existed to be Crafty's (the character) love interest and savior… and not much else.

But that's honestly just the thing with a lot of the characters on his show. They exist to only function with Crafty in the picture and as the main focus.

I understand that "Dr Crafty" was a harem show at its core, I should not expect more. But I can still despair at the wasted potential.

But back to Sasha - I loved thinking about her side of it all. How did she deal with thousands of years after escaping her "mother" and being the sole survivor of it all, seeing her siblings turned into powerful artifacts, their lives snuffed out? How would she eventually react to a joke character being revealed to be her "mother", unaware of her true nature? How does she see humanity these days? Does she look at the scientist and still see the man she fell in love with or were the years apart too much? How and did she change during that time?

All of those are questions we'll never get the answers to. But you can see that there's a lot to think about still. And for that I still like her.

One last Crafty-related question for the road, because I noticed it back in Photon-Bytez' response post to what happened.

What was that whole thing going on with Mindstein and the whole "1000% irredeemable" bit that Tansley was on about?

Lemme think and hope I won't repeat what I said back then - basically, Crafty hated the concept of villains that get "redeemed". He wanted to have one who would in no way be able to mend her relationships. If I remember it right, he specifically mentioned the Diamonds from Steven Universe as an example of what he didn't want to happen to Mindstein.

(He also had this weird thing about wanting to write "better" villains than Linkara aka. Lewis Lovhaug, a comicbook reviewer who runs the show "Atop The Fourth Wall" who Crafty drew titlecards for for many years. If it means anything to you, Crafty said to me that he wanted to write his own Entity Arc, but "better"… that just felt so scummy, bc he and Lewis were friends. Plus, I love Lewis' writing. Crafty WISHES he was as clever and fun with his own writing.)

But yeah, Crafty created Mindstein with just a lot of tropes in mind to make her a horrible person, hoping that that would make her irredeemable to the viewers: being an abusive parent, experimenting on her children, possibly killing her own children to turn them into undead experiments, putting said children under mind control - and then the cherry on top: she's a nazi scientist.

So yeah… I don't know. He was just weird about a lot of the female characters in his show, not just Mindstein, that much I can tell you.
