do you have any tips on how to do plain text and image descriptions correctly? like how descriptive should I be/not be when describing the image and stuff? I want to be as accessible as I can for people but I'm not sure how exactly to go about it. sorry if this ask is weird or anything, I'm just horrible at describing/explaining things and don't want to look stupid 😭
Absolutely! I'll leave them under the cut as this will be quite long, though ^^
PLAIN TEXT
[PT: Plain Text. END PT.]
When adding plain text, you can add it before or after your message, but adding it before your message renders the actual message kind of useless! I'd personally recommend adding it before. However, directly after still works.
They can be written in a few different ways, some including:
[PT: text. END PT.]
[pt: text. end pt.]
PT: text. END PT.
pt: text. end pt.
You should drop all TQs and type with proper grammar when typing out a plain text. For example, "Hewwo! Nyice tu mweet yu!! Mwy name is [X]" would become "PT: Hello! Nice to meet you! My name is [X]" or "H♡w are y♡u t♡day?" would become "PT: How are you today? END PT."
You should never put the plain text (or image ID) under the cut as when accounts are deactivated, which happens often in the MOGAIblr community, you are no longer able to access the 'Read More' section. This is why most archive blogs add in the under the cut text when reblogging posts.
IMAGE IDS
[PT: Image IDs. END PT.]
When making an image ID, you can put the ID in either the alt text feature (accessible in the three dots present on the image on mobile or the three dots that appear when you hover over it on PC) or after the image in the post.
There's a few ways you can write out IDs, whether in alt text or just the post.
[ID: text. END ID.]
ID: text. END ID.
id: text. end id.
[id: text. end id.]
I usually try to be descriptive enough to get the point across when making my image IDs! For example, with this image: ( AC: @petasawa )

[IMAGE ID: A pale, white-haired girl with pastel pink eyes and glasses is sitting on her knees looking up at the camera. She has one hand up, with a ring/bandaid on her middle finger. Her hair is tied into two short pigtails and she's wearing a primarily white-and-black beret. She has a loose, short-sleeved vest-like top with a baggy white shirt underneath that has cuffed sleeves. She's wearing a tie, tucked into her vest, and a white, frilled skirt. END ID.]
You describe enough to get the point across, you should spend most of your time describing the subject of the photo (if there is one), then their foreground, and then their background. This may change depending on the composition of the photo. I would personally do it in order of what catches the person's eye when they see the photo.
For flags, I'll use the transmasc flag as an example.
[ID: A 7-striped flag, that starting from the second stripe to the 6th, gradients from a light blue to a bright blue and then back again. The outermost stripes are bright pink. END ID.]
Most commonly, I describe the number of stripes and then the colors. It makes it a lot easier to describe if you use 'gradient' rather than just listing off every color, if your flag is a gradient. Some short templates you could follow could be:
A #-striped flag that gradients from [X] to [X].
A #-striped flag that from top to bottom is colored [X], [X], [X], [X].
If the flag has a symbol, you would just describe it like something in a normal image ID!

Something bad happens to April and Harry feels guilty. Guilty enough that he takes her care into his own hands.
Cw: mentions of abuse, guns, police, recovering. (Also just a note: I am not really sure how recovery for a gunshot wound works so I am doing my best to find out, but some information may be wrong)
Harry: why are you being so stubborn? If you don’t like that it’s me trying to help, I’ll have someone else ask. You know I will.
I have told Harry for several days now it’s not safe to take his offer. He could get hurt. But every evening after Robbie goes to bed, I check my phone to see Harry’s offer still on the table.
Me: Harry you know that’s not why. I can’t put anyone else at risk.
Harry: Maybe I don’t care about the risk. Fuck him. I told you I could take you to the women’s shelter for DV. They could keep you safe from him.
Me: He would search for me. The first place he would come terrorize is the restaurant. That wouldn’t be good Harry. Now quit arguing with me. I’ll be okay for now. I do appreciate your offer still. I guess you’re not always a dick.
Harry: No, I’m still a dick I’m sure. Just not about this. I feel awful for making fun of you.
Me: I would say it’s fine, but that was awful and I’m glad you are sorry.
Harry: I really am. But I’m still a dick in other areas of my life. Such as leaving the silverware rolling for you.
Me: I actually like the silverware rolling. I don’t mind.
Harry: Well, you can do it all of the time then. I’m going to get some rest. I have the morning shift tomorrow. Have a good night April.
Me: I’ll try. You too Harry.
I put my phone down and roll over to sleep. It doesn’t take long for me to drift off. My days may not always be great, but at least they end decently. Harry isn’t so mean to me right now. I don’t know how long this nice streak is going to last, but I’m going to take what little joy I can from it, and store it for days like tomorrow.
Tomorrow is going to be the fun day. I have the day off. No work. No place to go to get away. Tomorrow is going to be walking on eggshells to please him. Tomorrow is going to suck.
I eventually fall asleep.
When I wake up, Robbie is already awake and out of bed. I get dressed into day clothes. I put on a plain black t shirt and some blue jeans. I brush my hair out and look in the mirror. I would love to wear makeup, but Robbie doesn’t let me buy any. He thinks other men will look at me. He doesn’t trust that I won’t go to somebody else. I want to go to someone else, but even if I could, I don’t like anyone that way. I probably would be too hard to handle in a relationship anyways. Too much trauma and baggage. I’m better off alone. If I could ever be alone.
I walk out to the kitchen and see Robbie in his usual place. He is on the couch. I begin getting out the stuff to make breakfast. I grab the eggs and bacon and turn the stove on. I cook his food the best that I can and serve it to him. He eats it and I begin the chores of the house that don’t really get done when I’m not home. I start our laundry.
I walk around to each room and pick the clothes up off of the floor when I walk into the living room again. I see Robbie standing up, waiting for me. I look closer and see my phone in his hand.
“Are you fucking serious?” He says to me. I feel myself begin to shake. “You’re not only texting another guy, but you told someone?”
“What are you talking about?” I ask him. I know what he is talking about, but maybe I can play it cool.
“Who the fuck is Harry? Why the fuck is he telling you that he can take you to a shelter.”
“Robbie-“
“Shut up! Shut the fuck up!” He yells at me. He throws my phone across the room and shatters it. He runs towards me. “I fucking told you what would happen if you told someone. You’re a dead bitch!” He yells at me. I run to the front door. It’s locked. I try to undo the locks as fast as I can, put he catches me. He grabs me by my waist and lifts me into the air. He slams me on the ground, my back exploding in pain. The wind is knocked out of me and I gasp for air.
Through the pain, I try to scramble again to the door, another attempt at the locks. If I can just get one step out of the door.
Crack. Another explosion of pain, this time in my ribs. He brings his hand back and punches me again. I fall to the floor and hold my side. He kicks me over and over again. My arms block most of it, but I’m sure they look as awful as they feel. I can’t move from this spot on the floor. There is no chance of me getting back to the locks on the door.
He drags me to the bedroom and throws me on the bed. He opens a drawer and pulls out a gun.
“Got you something. I knew this day was going to come. Stupid whore like you can’t help yourself. He loads the gun and points it at me. It takes everything in me to move. Right as he presses the trigger, I move out of the way. He presses it again and it hits my left leg. Blood starts pouring out of me when I hear a loud crash in the living room. Robbie goes out and sees what it is. I hear shouting, but can’t make out what is being said. I press my hands to my leg to try and stop the bleeding.
I’m starting to see spots in my vision. I can’t pass out yet. I have to hold my leg. I hear footsteps and close my eyes. There’s nothing I can do. I can’t fight him. I can’t walk. I have to accept what it is. He is going to kill me.
“I need an ambulance to my current location. ” I hear a voice say. “Ma’am I’m with the police department. You’re safe now.”
How are the police here? Does it matter how? The officer grabs something off of her uniform. She wraps it around my leg. Another officer comes in the room.
“Tourniquet applied at 8:47am” she told the other officer. He wrote it down on his notepad. “Did you take him? Did you arrest him?” I ask through the haze.
“We have officers working on it. He ran outside and the officers are on his trail. Don’t worry. You’re safe now.”
“Who… called?” I struggle to say. The spots are begging to take over.
“Your new neighbors. They just moved it. They heard him yelling some things-“ is what I hear before I am consumed by the darkness.
I wake up to bright lights. I look around and I have a hefty bandage on my leg. It hurts to breathe. I see that I am in a hospital room. I don’t remember coming here. I press the call button on my beside remote and a doctor comes in. She is very tall, beautiful dark skin and brown eyes that almost glow.
“Glad to see you’re awake. You gave us a scare there Miss April. I’m Doctor Macy.”
“Did they catch him?”
“No they didn’t. But you don’t have to worry. You’re safe here. We have your room on limited contact, which means only who you say is allowed back can see you. There are two police officers outside of your door in case Robbie comes by.”
“Oh okay. Thank you.” I tell her. “I don’t think anyone would be coming to see me anyways. So I don’t think that’s something we have to worry about.”
“Alright then. Since you’re awake, I wanted to tell you about your injuries if you are up for it.”
“Okay.”
“You have the obvious gunshot wound on your leg. We were able to get the bullet out safely and fix you up. You made need physical therapy to help you walk after you get healed up. That will depend on your progress here. You also have two broken ribs. Those will take about 6 weeks to heal. I don’t want you working after your discharge, but it’s not quite time for that yet. I know I just dumped a lot of information on you. Do you have any questions?” She asks me.
“How long will I be here?”
“We are most worried about your leg. That is going to take time to recover. We are thinking maybe a week to see how you are able to walk and such. If you are still struggling with that, it may be longer.”
“Okay.”
“Anything else?”
“Is it possible I could get something for the pain? It hurts so bad.”
“Of course.” She says. She administers pain medication to me.
“Thank you.” I tell her as I wait for it to kick in.
“It’s no problem. Just one more question. Do you have anyone you would like us to call? Any family or friends?”
“I- I don’t have anyone I can call.”
“Okay dear. Just press the button if you need anything.” She says. She walks out of the room and closes the door.
The next few hours consist of doctors coming in to help me with breathing exercises for my broken rib treatment. It’s very boring in between the doctors coming in. I don’t have my phone. I don’t have a book. I don’t have a tv. It’s just sitting and staring at the ceiling, trying not to focus on the pain.
I can’t help but think about how it’s over. It’s all over. Robbie is in the wind. I hope he gets caught soon. I worry he may come back after I get out of here, but for right now I can’t help but feel something I haven’t felt in ages. A little ray of hope. A little bit of joy.
He is finally out of my life. I don’t know what I am going to do next. I don’t know where I can go. The house was his, but I now have the freedom to choose. I can go wherever I want. I can talk to people again. I can have a life outside of work and home. The possibilities are endless.
At the same time, I’m so scared. All of that possibility, all of the freedom. What am I supposed to do with it? I like my job. I liked my house. There is the offer of Harry’s help, but I’m still hesitant. I wouldn’t say we hate each other anymore, but we aren’t friends. He is simply just offering to help me. There isn’t really a risk of Robbie anymore, unless they don’t catch him, but surely they will. They have to.
Knock knock knock
A nurse pops her head into the door.
“A man is out in the waiting room for you. He says his name is Harry Styles. Would you like to let him in?” She says. I am a bit shocked. He has offered me help, but I really didn’t expect him to visit me here.
“Yes. Let him in.” I tell her. She leaves the room for a few minutes. Harry comes back with her. He has a black rain coat on. Small droplets are still sitting on the shoulders of the coat. His hair still sits in curls on his head. He has an upset look on his face.
The nurse leaves us alone and there is a minute of silence as he looks at me. I decide to break the silence.
“Must not hate me too much if you’re willing to visit me in the hospital.”
“Even if I did hate you, everyone needs someone. You said you don’t have anyone, so I can be your person. Even if I didn’t want to, I feel like the universe would make me as karma for making fun of you.”
“Awe how sweet.” I mock.
“How are you feeling?” He asks me in a slightly annoyed voice, but mostly sad.
“I’m in a bit of pain, but the medicine they have been giving me helps quite a bit.”
“What happened? Why didn’t you call me?” He asks, his tone shifting to upset.
“Robbie, he shattered my phone or I would have. I didn’t know your number to give to the nurse.” I say. He looks like he has so many questions, but he can’t sort them out enough to say them.
“What did he do?” Harry asks. I’m hesitant to answer. It’s my fault this started. I forgot to delete my texts with Harry. I don’t want Harry to think it’s his fault for texting me, so I stick to the injuries.
“He got really upset with me. I tried to run out of the house, but I couldn’t undo the locks fast enough. He slammed me to the floor. I got up and tried for the door again. He punched me and I fell. He kicked me over and over again. Then when he was done, he dragged me to our bedroom. He pulled a gun on me Harry. I didn’t even know he had one. I thought for sure I was dead. I was able to move enough to avoid him hitting my chest, but he got my leg instead.”
“Holy shit April. I’m so sorry.” He says to me.
“I’m sorry too.”
“Why in the world would you be sorry?”
“I feel bad that you’re here. I know you always were extending an offer to help. I didn’t take it. It’s my fault.”
“None of what that poor excuse of a person has done is your fault. Nobody deserves this.” He says. He finally sits down on the chair beside my bed. He sheds his coat. Another moment of silence, followed by a question.
“So, not to be annoying, but what are you going to do after this?”
“What do you mean?”
“Are you able to go back to your home?”
“The home was never mine. I have stuff there that I need to get, but the house is his. I don’t have a place to go.”
“Well, just going to offer one more time. I have a spare room.” He says again, except this time, I think I might take it. Just until I can support myself on my own. It won’t take long.
“I think i just might have to take you up on that this time.” I tell him shyly.
“Good. Just don’t be a dick and eat all of my cereal.” I laugh, wincing at the pain.
“I won’t eat your cereal Harry.”
“Or touch my video games. You think I’m mean now, try touching my games. I’ll be a raging asshole from then on.” He says. We both laugh.
“It’s amazing how you can be sweet but choose to be a dick sometimes, but I see you Harry. You’re mean. You suck most of the time, and maybe the guilt of making fun of me all that time is what brought you here, but that doesn’t change that you’re here anyways. I think you’re a big softie, but you choose to put on such a harsh exterior. But you’re here, being kind of nice to me.” I tell him, getting sentimental.
“Must be some pretty good drugs. They must have given you too much to make your brain loopy. You’re looking too deep into this.”
“No. You’re just mad that I’m right.”
“Whatever you say, loopy.”
“So I’ve got a new nickname then?”
“For now.” He replies.
“At this rate, we should make a besties handshake.” I state. He looks at me puzzled.
“Really?”
“No.” I laugh again, my ribs getting more sore. Harry sees me wince in pain.
“Maybe you should take it easy on being a comedian right now. What is your recovery looking like?” He asks. I explain to him what the doctor told me earlier about a week in the hospital at least plus physical therapy. I also told him about the 6 weeks off of work.
“Damn. That sucks. Maybe you’ll be like a superhero or something and heal super quickly.”
“Maybe.” I tell him. “That would be great. I hate hospitals. I feel too needy in a place like this.”
“You’re too needy for being injured and requiring care? That’s about the stupidest thing I’ve heard.”
“Well-“
“That’s ridiculous.”
“And now you’re back to being mean.” I fake pout.
“I told you. Still a dick.” He tells me, a small smile on his face. He tries to hide it but it’s there.
“Now who’s ridiculous?” I say and he chuckles.
The day passes by a bit quicker since Harry arrived. Doctors are in and out adjusting medicines, giving treatment, and seeing if I need anything. Harry kept me pretty well taken care of as far as water, ice, and snacks go. He even went as far as sleeping in the chair beside my bed last night.
I think he really does feel guilty. He used to go on and on about my long sleeve shirts all day. He would pick on me all day about needing control over small things at my job. But now, he’s here when I have no one else. I’m free of Robbie. Harry isn’t exactly the person I thought would help me out of my situation, but he is. He puts on such a harsh exterior, but I think he genuinely cares and has such a big heart. He’s just afraid to show it for whatever reason. Maybe he’s right. Maybe I am thinking too much into this, but I bet I’m not. I know I’m right. And I plan to get to know Harry inside of his mean exterior. Im going to give him a second chance.

Crowley turns to Aziraphale.
CROWLEY: Right. That was that. It was nice knowing you.
AZIRAPHALE: We can’t give up now.
CROWLEY: This is Satan himself. It isn’t about Armageddon. This is personal. We are fucked.
Aziraphale picks up the sword from the ground, and holds it awkwardly, as if it might go off. He’s not threatening Crowley with it, just making his point that he can do dangerous out-of-character things if he needs to.
AZIRAPHALE: Come up with something, or . . . Or I’m never going to talk to you again.
Crowley nods. That one hurts. What the hell. Crowley snaps his fingers . . . and time stops.

Traditional British pancakes are different to American style ones. They’re similar to French crêpes in that they’re large and thin with crispy edges. Add your topping of choice and then fold or roll them up. Wholemeal pancakes taste just as good if not better than those made with plain flour.
The world loves a pancake and there are many different kinds. In Europe they’re traditionally eaten on Shrove Tuesday known as Mardi Gras in France. Nowadays we tend to refer to this as Pancake Day here in the UK. Of course, we can eat pancakes on whatever day of the year we like and we frequently do. But it’s almost obligatory to eat them on Pancake Day.
Why Eat Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday?
Shrove Tuesday falls the day before Ash Wednesday, which is the first day of Lent. The idea is to clear the house of all the fattening foods, such as eggs, milk and sugar before the forty day lenten fast begins. The tradition of eating pancakes continues, whether or not we observe lent.
But Shrove Tuesday didn’t originally have anything to do with pancakes. It comes from the Christian practice to ‘shrive’, or do penance for one’s sins before lent.
Pancake Day falls on the 25th of February this year.
Wholemeal Pancakes
I’ve only ever made wholemeal pancakes. This is mostly because they’re delicious and easy to make. But they’re also much better for you as the wholemeal flour contains fibre and is rich in vitamins and minerals. I usually, but not always, use wholemeal spelt flour.
So start by serving the flour into a large bowl. I tend to throw any extra large bits of bran left in the sieve into the compost, but you can just tip them into the bowl with the flour. Add the salt.
#gallery-0-10 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-10 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-10 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-10 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Sieve the wholemeal flour and discard the bran or throw it into the bowl.
Make a well in the centre and break in the eggs.
Make a well in the flour and break in the eggs. Stir from the inside out, adding the milk as you go until everything is well mixed. Stir in the oil or melted butter. Rest the batter.
#gallery-0-11 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-11 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-11 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-11 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Whisk in the eggs, followed by the milk.
Rest your batter for 30 minutes if you can.
Heat a pan over a moderate heat and brush with melted butter or oil. I always use butter for frying pancakes. It just tastes better.
Pour in just enough batter to cover the bottom of the pan. You’ll need to swirl it around to cover it completely. But be careful, as you only need a thin layer.
Leave to cook for about three minutes. It should come loose when you give the pan a good shake. Either turn the pancake over with a wide spatula or toss it in the air. Just make sure you catch it. I highly recommend the first method. It will only need around thirty seconds too cook on the second side.
Depending on how nonstick your pan is, you may or may not need to brush it with butter or oil again. I always do, just to be on the safe side. Repeat the process.
Wholemeal Pancakes – Top Tips
The pancake batter doesn’t take long to make, but it’s best if it stands for thirty minutes before you actually start making the pancakes. This allows the glutens to develop which makes the batter more stable. You don’t have to rest the batter before cooking, but it helps to stop the pancakes tearing or breaking up if you do.
How many pancakes you get will depend on the size of the pan you use. For eight pancakes, use a standard sized frying pan measuring around 24-26 cm. I’m not sure why but measurements for frying pans are taken on the diameter of the upper rim. Doesn’t really make much sense to me as it’s the bottom of the pan where you do the cooking. Mine measures 18cm, (7″) on the bottom.
#gallery-0-12 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-12 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-12 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-12 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Wholemeal Spelt Pancake Side 1
Wholemeal Spelt Pancake Side 2
The first side will look very different to the second side. So you can take your pick as to which side you want to show off.
Although it doesn’t take long to mix the batter, it will take a while to cook the pancakes as you have to do them one by one. It should take about half an hour to cook all eight pancakes. As soon as one is done, put it on a plate in a warm oven whilst you get on with the next one. Place the next one directly on top of the second one and continue until you’ve used up all the batter. You can then serve the pancakes all together.
Alternatively, serve each one as you cook them and let the recipient put their toppings on themselves.
Can You Freeze Wholemeal Pancakes?
Pancakes will keep in the fridge for a few days, but they also freeze really well. Just line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Lay the pancakes on it and freeze for an hour or until fully frozen. Then stack together and place inside a freezer bag. Best eaten within two months.
When you want to use them, defrost, then heat each one briefly in a hot nonstick frying pan.
What’s The Difference Between American, French and British Pancakes?
American Style Pancakes
American pancakes are very similar to drop scones or Scotch pancakes. They’re small, thick and fluffy and are usually served for breakfast. You need a raising agent to make them and they usually contain sugar in the batter.
French Style Pancakes
Called crêpes in France, these pancakes are large, thin and flat. They contain no sugar, nor raising agent so are very different to American ones. They’re often made with buckwheat flour, rather than wheat flour. This is particularly true in Brittany where they’re sometimes called galettes.
British Style Pancakes
As stated at the beginning British pancakes are similar to French crêpes, but they’re not as large nor quite as fine and lacy. They’re crispy around the edges, but pliable and quite substantial which makes them ideal for rolling up or folding into halves or even quarters.
Wholemeal Pancake Fillings and Toppings
Traditionally we Brits like to top our pancakes with a sprinkling of sugar and a squeeze of lemon. We roll them up tight, then tuck into them with a knife and fork or eat with our hands. But, good as this is, don’t feel it’s the only way to go.
The possibilities for fillings and toppings are endless and it’s not all about the sweet stuff either. Savoury pancakes are just as good. When I was growing up, we’d often have savoury pancakes for our main course followed by sugar and lemon ones for pudding.
I’d love to know what your favourite fillings are. But meanwhile here are a few suggestions for you.
Sweet Fillings
Traditional lemon and sugar
Jam of your choice. If you want to make your own this easy strawberry jam is a good one.
Banana and chocolate spread
Rhubarb compote with or without cream
Coffee, cardamom chocolate sauce
Sticky oranges. Blood oranges are particularly good as they not only look spectacular, but they’re in season during Pancake Day.
Honey, clotted cream and grated chocolate
Savoury Fillings
Cauliflower cheese
Leek & mushrooms
Spinach and ricotta
Spiced lentil dhal
Veggie bean chilli with soured cream
Keep in Touch
Thanks for visiting Tin and Thyme. If you make these wholemeal pancakes, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below. Do share photos on social media too and use the hashtag #tinandthyme, so I can spot them. And let us know what your favourite toppings are.

Wholemeal Pancakes with Sticky Blood Oranges – The Recipe
British Style Wholemeal Pancakes with Optional Sticky Blood Orange

Traditional pancakes made with wholemeal spelt flour. They're easy to make and taste just as good if not better than those made with plain flour. Add your filling or topping of choice or try this sticky blood orange instead.
Pancakes
115 g (4oz) wholemeal spelt flour
pinch fine sea or rock salt
2 eggs – medium to large
240 ml (8 fl oz) milk
1 tbsp sunflower oil
a little unsalted butter or oil for frying (optional) (this will depend on how nonstick your nonstick pan is)
Sticky Blood Orange (for one)
1 blood oranges
1 tbsp maple syrup
Sieve the flour and salt into a large bowl. Discard any extra large bits of bran left in the sieve if liked. Otherwise, throw them into the bowl.
Make a well in the centre and break in the eggs.
Stir from the inside out, adding the milk as you go along until all of the flour is mixed in.
Add the oil and whisk thoroughly.
Leave to stand for 30 minutes.
Turn the oven on to its lowest setting and place a plate inside to warm up.
Warm a medium sized frying pan (mine is 18cm (7") measured at the base) on a medium heat (I set mine to 3 out of a possible 5).
Depending on how good a non-stick pan it is, you may or may not want to brush it with a little oil. I add a tiny peice of butter to mine.
Pour in 3-4 tablespoons of batter. You want just enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Tilt the pan so the batter covers the bottom in a thin layer.
Cook for about three minutes, then turn the pancake over with a wide spatula and cook on the other side for a further 30 seconds.
Turn out onto the warm plate and put back in the oven. Alternativley you can serve it immediately and let the recipient put the toppings on.
Repeat the process until all the batter is used up, stacking the cooked pancakes on top of each other. You should get eight pancakes if you make them in a medium sized pan.
Sticky Blood Oranges (optional)
Cut the peel away from the orange so that no pith remains. Then segment it, taking away as much of the skin and any remaining pith as you can. Do this over a bowl so that you catch any escaping juice.
Place the orange segments with any remaining juice in a pan along with the maple syrup. Cook over a moderate heat, stirring occassionally until most of the syrup has disappeared and you're left with a delicoius sticky mess. This will take about five minutes.
Scale the sticky blood oranges up to the number of people who want them on their pancakes. It’s one orange per pancake.
You don’t have to rest the batter for 30 minutes before cooking, but it helps to stop the pancakes tearing or breaking up if you do. It allows the glutens to develop which hold the batter together.
Please note: calories and other nutritional information are per pancake. They’re approximate and will depend on exact ingredients used. Sticky blood orange not included.

Wholemeal Pancakes and Lots of Topping Ideas Traditional British pancakes are different to American style ones. They're similar to French crêpes in that they're large and thin with crispy edges.

Die, Monster, Die! (1965): SUMMARY Stephen Reinhart, an American scientist (Nick Adams), pays a visit to the estate of his British fiancée’s family. He finds a scorched area of countryside near an enormous crater. Local townspeople are hostile toward him and refuse to either drive him to his destination or talk about the family that lives there. The source of all these problems is later revealed to be a radioactive meteorite kept hidden in the basement by his girlfriend’s father, Nahum Witley (Boris Karloff), who has been using the radiation to mutate plant and animal life, with horrific consequences to his subjects and to members of his family. Nahum’s wife, Letitia, mutated by the meteorite and driven insane, dies in an attack on Steve and Susan. After Helga, a maid who has been mutated and driven mad by radiation, comes after Nahum, he is mutated after his attacker falls on the meteorite and is killed. The Nahum monster attacks Steve and Susan, but falls from a balcony and bursts into flame when he hits the floor, setting the entire Witley mansion ablaze. Steve and Susan escape from the burning mansion, and never look back.

DEVELOPMENT The year was 1965 and Boris Karloff was now 77 years old. At a time that most actors have long since retired or found that Hollywood has left them behind, Karloff was still in demand. Only his health was keeping him from the busy schedule he once had. His arthritis and emphysema were crippling at times, leaving him wheelchair bound and on oxygen. Yet, there were days when his stamina was high and he would move about as well as a man of 77 could. Still under contract to American International Pictures, his next effort would be Die, Monster, Die!
Daniel Haller
Interview with Director Daniel Haller
Are you treating Lovecraft differently from the concept of American-International’s Poe films? Daniel Haller: Yes, the Lovecraft film is contemporary, and, as a result, there is more emphasis on the scientific aspect.
Apart from the change in locality, how close is Die Monster, Die! to Lovecraft’s Colour Out of Space? Daniel Haller: Quite similar, but more up to date. The scientific emphasis means that the fantasy now derives from the science.
The science-fiction theme comes out strongly? Daniel Haller: Yes. In HPL’s story this meteorite comes out of the sky. It had a character of its own which we are unable to show. We have made it radioactive. In the film it could be radium.
Do you think this approach will be taken as a symbol of thermonuclear fears? Daniel Haller: Yes. I think quite a lot of people will believe that. I felt it strongly-not so much now though.
In the story, much of the atmosphere derives from Lovecraft’s description of the unearthly countryside. How did you show this? Daniel Haller: Stephen, the hero, has a long walk through the woods which we hope gets this over. There are charred stumps, matted growths….

Daniel Haller on set
What is it like working with a veteran like Boris Karloff ? Daniel Haller: Very enjoyable. He’s not one of these people who always argue that a scene should be done another way. He does it as the director sees it. I think the great thing about Boris is his look; he puts over so much in a slight shift or lean of the head.
Does it bother you to know that critics will no doubt compare your film with Roger Corman’s Poe movies? Daniel Haller: No, not really. I think we both have our own style. …
Corman has spoken of his interest in Freud. Is there symbolism of this nature in Die, Monster, Die? Daniel Haller: Although I’m a great admirer of Freud, I’m not consciously using symbolism —Freudian or otherwise. Even so, Die, Monster, Die! has its “sub-text” as should any film.

The Curse (1987): SUMMARY Teenage boy Zack lives on a farm in Tellico Plains, Tennessee with his mother Frances, younger sister Alice, stern and pious old stepfather Nathan Crane and unpleasant, dim-witted stepbrother Cyrus. One night Frances sneaks out of the house while Nathan is asleep and begins having sex with Mike, a farm-hand who lives in a nearby shack. Suddenly a large meteorite crashes onto the property, emitting an eerie glow. Next morning, Alan Forbes, a physician who lives nearby, visits the crash-site, examining the meteorite which is a large sphere with a hard shell from which a noxious liquid oozes out. Before long, the object dissolves into glowing gelatinous liquid which seeps into the soil. Forbes wants to contact the authorities but is dissuaded by Charlie Davidson, local realtor and head of the chamber of commerce, who worries that the event will discourage the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) from building a new reservoir in the area. Forbes’ bored wife Esther also manipulates her husband into keeping quiet, worried their house will lose its value.
The mysterious liquid soon begins to affect the farm. The water from the well grows cloudy and tastes unpleasant, fruit and vegetables grow invitingly large but are rotten and inedible inside and the livestock begin to behave violently and show severe signs of infection. Alice is attacked and injured by infected chickens and Cyrus is nearly killed by a horse. Frances begins to have large boils growing on her face which soon grotesquely alter her features. She becomes mentally unstable, physically harming herself and attacking her own family. Believing the blight affecting his farm to be a punishment from God for his wife’s infidelity, Nathan locks her in their bedroom, not allowing Zack to tell the doctor. Zack keeps himself and Alice free from the infection by consuming clean water and food he steals from Forbes’ house.
Forbes secretly obtains a sample from the Cranes’ well and has it analysed at a nearby lab. The water is found to contain a strange, unknown element which is altering its metabolic properties. Carl Willis, a TVA representative who is surveying the local area for the planned reservoir, enters the Cranes’ house looking for a glass of water. Helping himself from the kitchen faucet, he has just started drinking when he is attacked and nearly killed by Frances, who has gone insane and is horribly mutating. Worried that Forbes is going to alert the authorities, Davidson and Esther arrive at the Crane farm looking for the doctor but are attacked by infected dogs who have turned feral. Esther is mauled to death and Davidson hides himself in the cellar only to be killed by Frances who had been locked in there by Nathan.
By now Nathan and Cyrus are also infected and beginning to go insane. A guilt-ridden Forbes enters the house, hoping to rescue Zack and Alice but he is surprised and murdered by Nathan who then barricades the door. Cyrus attacks Alice but Zack fights him off, hiding his sister in a closet. Nathan corners Zack and is about to kill his stepson when he is stabbed by Willis who has just arrived. The ground begins to glow and heave beneath the house which starts to fall apart. Zack locates his mother just in time to see her mutated corpse dissolve into liquid. Willis gets Zack and Alice out of the house before it collapses and a dying Nathan and Cyrus are both killed by falling debris. Willis drives away from the farm, taking Zack and Alice with him.
Some months later, a heavily-bandaged Willis lies in a hospital bed, having become infected more slowly because he only drank a small amount of the farm’s water. He is watching a news report on how authorities are promising that the blight from the farm will be eradicated. Later, at a location in the nearby countryside, ground and trees begin to heave and break apart at night, revealing more of the alien glowing liquid spreading onto the surface.
DEVELOPMENT/PRODUCTION Distributor Trans World offered Keith an acting job on a movie named Blood Hunt, but he also insisted on directing. So the company called him in for a meeting, he says, “to talk me out of directing.” But the Southerner went in prepared. He laid out in detail how he would direct several major scenes in Blood Hunt, and walked out of the meeting with a three-picture deal: to direct The Farm, to star in and direct Blood Hunt, and to helm another movie.
Keith expresses no particular fondness for the horror genre. “I’m much more in love with Woody Allen movies, to tell you the truth.” He did Firestarter because I love Stephen King,” and he is now doing The Farm because of Chaskin’s tight script. “The scariest horror movies are the ones that, if you left out the horror, would still be a good movie. So that’s what we are trying to do with The Farm, make it realistic with well-rounded characters and real situations, so that when the meteor lands, it’s a device of the gods, from ancient theater tradition.”

Principal photography began on September 29, 1986 under the title The Farm, after being announced previously as The Well. David Keith, a native of Knoxville, utilized his farm property in Tellico Plains, Tennessee for the film, while the interiors were shot in Rome. Many of the crew members, who were Italian, were billed under American names, including associate producer Lucio Fulci. Actor Treat Williams was reportedly set to star in the film, but was not involved with the film itself.

Perhaps the greatest danger facing the $1.5 million production is Keith’s drive to make The Farm more than just a good, entertaining horror film. Horror mixed with “social relevancy” usually smacks of pretentiousness. “This movie is about the dying of the family farm. That’s the problem that these people face on this farm long before the meteor comes-the family farm is America has no chance any more. Which is something that kills me. I love the fact that we’re touching on that topic. I have dilated that plot aspect since I became involved.”

And Keith has another problem to deal with. Most of the technical crew are Italian and do not speak English. Everyone loves the Italian crew; they are very professional, having worked a great deal together in the past. Shooting generally goes very smoothly, but there are occasions when communication problems bring a pronounced comic relief to the location. At its funniest, it goes like this: All communications pass through recent University of Tennessee graduate Anna Rebori, the interpreter. When Keith wants something done, he tells Rebori. She tells the crew. The crew talk it over in Italian between themselves, then they tell Rebori why they cannot do it. Rebori tells Keith. Keith explains very carefully, to Rebori, just exactly what he wants and why he has to have it. Rebori tells the crew. And so it goes, on into the night.

Screenwriter David Chaskin jokingly hopes that maybe, if he refrains from changing the Lovecraft classic, the director will likewise refrain from changing his script. But the original story, as with much of the Lovecraft canon, relies on very heavy description to set mood. “It would make an arty Twilight Zone episode,” says Chaskin. So he created a history for the characters and added a number of subplots, such as a hired farmhand named Dog who has an affair with Frances (Kathleen Gregory), the wife of the farm owner, Nathan (Claude Akins). Chaskin also created a conflict between Frances’ two children from an earlier marriage, played by Wil (Stand By Me) Wheaton and Wheaton’s real-life younger sister Amy, and Nathan’s son, Cyrus (Malcolm Denare). Finally, Chaskin updated the story and set it in the real town of Tellico Plains, Tennessee.

The “meteorite syndrome” is a progressive affliction. First it destroys the farm crops, then the trees start waving when there is no wind. Next it affects the farm animals. Pretty little Amy Wheaton, in her first movie role, is attacked and mauled by killer chickens. Finally, the toxins reach out from the well to the residents. Frances is the first to succumb, followed by Nathan and his son Cyrus. Frances’ kids are the only ones to escape.

The first thing to go is the mind. “It’s like in Invasion of the Body Snatchers,” offers Chaskin. “The little boy tells the doctor, ‘She’s not my mother!'” Then they turn mean, and they go crazy. By this time, it is affecting their bodies as well. We see a malignant growth here and there, eventually distorting their faces into bloated, throbbing, grotesque imitations of the meteorite. Their suffering is ultimately terminated by disintegration into a gray dust.

The FX makeup is being executed by Franco Ruffini in Rome. But the makeup was actually designed by Keith himself, who described it to a designer like a crime victim detailing his assailant to a police artist.
Keith is very much the dominant force in The Farm, and he will deserve full credit for the outcome, whatever that outcome may be. He walks the location charged with energy, exclaiming, “I’m so fired up. I’ve never been so happy on a job in my life.” This is what Keith has been working toward throughout his entire career; he originally pursued acting as a first step in someday taking the director’s chair.

Men’s Shoe Formality Guide and Scale : How Shoes Rank From Formal To Informal
From dress shoes cut from plain leather to shoes cut with intricate designs to non-dress shoes, there are many options to choose from when it comes to men’s shoes. Our men’s shoe formality guide will help you in picking the right shoes for the right occasion and dress code.
A lot of men don’t know the right shoes to wear with different outfits. Sadly, in my day to day life, I always come across many men who make the same mistake of wearing their right shoes with the wrong outfit.
They are so focused on what they wear on the upper body clothing – their jacket, shirt, necktie, watch, etc.
And overlook the details down below, such as their shoes and how to take care of them. They wear the wrong shoes or a pair of old shoes that have seen their glory days.
As a stylish gentleman who is conscious of his style, who understands how clothing and style choices can influence his image and success, you must make every effort to project the right image by ensuring your appearance is dapper from head to toe. This includes understanding, the importance of wearing good shoes.
When choosing your footwear, the following considerations must be made:
[su_list icon=”icon: check-circle” icon_color=”#792331″]
Are they the right type, style and color?
Does it enhance my wardrobe?
Are they suitable for the respective occasion I am getting it for – from formal to informal?
[/su_list]
This shoe formality guide will school you on how choose the right pair of shoes based on the formality of the occasion you need it for. If you want to learn how to choose a dress code based on the formality scale of the occasion, check out the link below.
RELATED: Dress Code Formality Guide on Dressing Up or Dressing Down A Look
Now, there are varieties of shoes based on style, color, and type which can really be a bit overwhelming, especially when it comes to knowing which is which and what shoes to wear with what get-ups.
So gents, let’s break it down as simply as possible. Below is a hierarchy of the common dress shoe styles, ranked based on type, color, and style with tips on how to pair them appropriately. Enjoy!
SHOE FORMALITY GUIDE: BY SHOE TYPES
Most Formal
Pump → Oxford → Derby → Monkstrap → Chelsea → Boot → Brogue
Semi-Formal
Venetian Loafer → Penny Loafer → Belgian Loafer → The Horse Bit or Gucci Loafer → Tassel Loafer → Chukka Boot
Casual
Driving Shoe → Boat Shoe → Desert Boot → Motorcycle Boot → Espadrille Sneaker → Sneakers
MEN’S SHOE FORMALITY GUIDE: BY COLOR
If you are curious about how to pair shoe colors with the right outfits, here’s a comprehensive guide to help you. You’re invited to take a look!
Most Formal
Black Shoes are the most formal shoe color. They are the only classic option for Tuxedos and commonly worn with business suits.
Semi-Formal
Dark Brown is less formal than black shoes and they pair with everything black shoe pair with, except black. They can be worn in any season as they are quite versatile.
Cordovan refers to a brownish burgundy shoe color. They pair with whatever dark brown shoe pair with but are less formal due to their lighter shade.
Navy Blue is rare as a shoe color but is relatively dressy due to its dark shade. In a dress shoe situation, navy blue shoe pairs well with navy and grey trousers. Don’t forget to wear an exact shade of navy blue belt.
Charcoal Grey is another rare shoe color, they are also less formal as navy and pair with the same color trousers – navy and grey trousers.
Casual
Medium Brown is informal due to the lightness of the color. They are extremely versatile and pair with just about any trouser you can think of. While they can be worn to work in many offices, you should opt for a darker shoe if going to a job interview or funeral.
Tan shoes are casual and should only be worn on warmer days. They pair beautifully with medium blue and light grey suits, great options for warm weather weddings.
White shoes are worn in the most casual of situations. It’s also helpful to wear them once in a while, as white shoes get dirty very easily and require particular steps to clean.
Non-standard colors (red, green, purple, etc.) other shoe colors like red, purple, green, or orange are the least formal available on the market. Essentially novelty colors, these are great for casual wear with denim and chinos. If you’re wearing a suit just for fun (not for business), a dress shoe in one of these colors can really take your ensemble into the stratosphere, stylistically speaking

MEN’S SHOE FORMALITY GUIDE: BY STYLE
Wholecut or Plain

Wholecut Oxford Shoe
Plain Derby Shoe
These are Oxfords or Derbies that are either completely void of extra stitching, perforations, and other design elements, or darn near close. You should already know the difference between an oxford and a derby with their different lacing styles.
A whole cut is a shoe with an upper that is cut and fashioned from one single piece of leather. As a general rule of style, the less detail a shoe has, the more formal it is.
For Oxford, you can wear Tuxedos/Evening wear. For both dress shoes, you can also pair with suits such as; blazer or sports coat, well-fitting cotton dress pants, a dress shirt, and tie.
Cap-Toe
Just to remind you, unlike oxfords, Derbies have open lacing which makes them a little less sleek, and therefore, less dressy. Meanwhile, a simple cap Oxford or Derby has a line or two of stitching that accentuates the front of the shoe, giving the toe a bit of a capped look. These are the most simple, sleek dress shoes.
You can wear them with Suits made of more casual fabrics like tweed, linen, or cotton; wool trousers; cotton trousers and jeans.
Semi-Brogue
They have lots of holes and decorations, the holes used to help the muck and water drain out since they were originally used by those walking through marshy fields. Today, they’re considered one of the dressiest shoes in fashion, what a turn of events right?
Semi-brogue shoes have a cap-toe with perforations, layered leathers, serrated edges, and usually a lot of perforations adorning the toe. They are quite sleek regardless of the busyness of the design which makes them less serious and more flashy.
Wear them with wool or cotton trousers or dark blue jeans. I’d advise against wearing them with a business/office suit because of their flashy designs, business casual would be a better fit.
Wingtip/Longwing
#gallery-0-15 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-15 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-15 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-15 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Wingtip Oxford Shoes
Longwing Derby Shoes
This style has a classic decorative “M” shape at the cap toe that extends about halfway back to the heel. Oxford-style lacing makes it much easier to dress up than the open-laced style.
As for the long wing, it has a wingtip that doesn’t terminate midway down the side of the shoe but instead wraps all the way to the back of the heel. They’re very versatile, the longer wing has an almost sporty, racing-stripe feel to it.
You can wear the wingtip with suits, business casual with dark wash denim and sports coat, they are perfect for weddings and office wear. For the longwing, smart casual wear of all kinds and you’re good to go.
Suede
Suede – from the French “gants de Suède”, which literally means “gloves from Sweden” is a type of leather with a napped finish commonly used to make shoes and other clothing items. They are less casual than plain leather styles.
They can mostly be worn with cords, chinos, and jeans as they are highly versatile with business casual and smart casual wear.
Velvet
Velvet is a type of woven tufted fabric with a distinctive soft feel. The word velvety means “smooth like velvet,” it can be made from either synthetic or natural fibers. You will mostly find them in loafers and other clothing items.
Final Thought
Now that we’ve crossed the Ts and dotted the Is, you can see the different shoe styles and types and how they are classified as formal and less formal. With this men’s shoe formality guide, you now know the right shoes to wear with the right outfits and to the right occasion.
We hope you found this guide helpful. If you have other questions on this topic, please let us know.
Thanks for reading. Until next time, continue to do well, live well, and dress really well. Stay Classy.

In this latest update, I take a look from the standpoint as a Watchman. It is what I am and have been called to do. Call it being a Preacher, Prophet, someone who warns of something, or plain crazy; here I am. I have had it all said to me, about me, and in fact we have [both my wife and I along with those who have worked with us and helped us to do this] been doing this going on 19 years now. I have built myriads of websites doing this in order to herald what the Lord has put in my ‘bucket’ so to speak. We have done hundreds and hundreds of radio shows. I have preached hours and hours, done Prophecy News segments by the countless numbers, and in fact we are still doing it. In addition I have written, published, and produced countless articles, ebooks, books, and resource materials over the years; many of whom are on our websites today!

Make no mistake here, we did not just get off the boat here. It was revealed to me many years ago of what was coming to America. It was back then that I was first introduced to the call of a Watchman and as a Preacher. I first told my wife of what was coming in 1973, so make no mistake we have lived this for many, many years and so have all my family. In view of this, take these things seriously and understand that I do what I do because of the Lord who called me and set my feet on this path so long ago.

America’s Last Days and the Message of God
The Fundamental Truths of an American Watchman who addresses issues on America. The basic biblical fundamental truth is that as a Watchman, I am not a Guardian or a warning prophet for America. No! I am a Watchman, warning the Church; not only in America but worldwide. The call and sustenance for nineteen years now has been the Lord. This is our God and Father, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Our Great and mighty, most revered God who has given of his only begotten Son; Jesus Christ [Yeshua Ha Massiach] to be the Savior of the World and the great Judge on that Great day when all will appear before him. Every tongue shall confess and every knee shall bow before him. It is because of this, his call, and guidance these many years in faithfully proclaiming his message.
He now commands everyone, everywhere to repent! As the Apostle Paul has said quite plainly, “knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade men.” Today we are living in the last days, the last of the last days.
(2Co 5:11) Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
It is the whole of these generations who live in this time period whom shall see the actual, physical, and complete Revelation of the Son of God, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, and the Almighty One who shall judge all things and bring all enemies under his feet. The last to be destroyed shall be death and hell.
Rev 22:11-17
(11) He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
(12) And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
(13) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
(14) Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
(15) For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
(16) I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
(17) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
There is only one Truth today, although we live in a society with global governance that heralds many different truths. But the Truth is, there is only one Truth and that truth is the Word of God. Jesus said of himself that he is the ‘Way, the Truth, and the life in John 14:6. Further John describes him in John chapter one. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. It is this Truth, that the Word was then manifested to the world, starting with the Jews first and then to the gentiles. Jesus is the incarnate Word of God! The Word manifested in the flesh! He said that “my Words are Spirit and they are life”!

‘The Golfer’ Gareth Bale is below par compared to Cristiano Ronaldo
Nobody can argue Gareth Bale has not had any success with Real Madrid . He has four Champions League winner's medals, equaling Phil Neal's record for a British player, he has won the Club World Cup and UEFA's Super Cup three times each, he has won La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
It remains a qualified success, though. We know who the defining force was in those years for Madrid and Bale lived in his enormously sculpted shadow.
Throughout, Bale's champions insisted he could be the Bernabeu's main man if only Cristiano Ronaldo would let him breathe. And then, last summer, Ronaldo left. And now, this summer, Madrid would like Bale to leave, too.
Gareth Bale's time at Real Madrid could be over […]
The club will not say without the club's sanction.
What is plain is that Bale's ascension has not gone as planned. He has been troubled by injury again – Bale is referred to, cruelly, as Mr. Glass after missing close to 90 games in his six seasons there – and is fighting to regain his place from Vinicius Jr., an 18-year-old Brazilian, who did not make his debut until this season
In addition, his 12 goals in 30 games is considered a poor return, compared to that or Ronaldo, who already has 21 in the shirt of Juventus.
Bale's miracle goal was the perfect springboard to assume Ronaldo's mantle but it has not materialized. Instead it is noted that he is still uncomfortable speaking Spanish, has not embraced the local lifestyle and does not follow team-mates on social nights out.
Bale has failed to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo's […]
New goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois or pastime, and it was not interpreted as a compliment.
Bale will be 30 by the time next night and while eschewing late nights in Madrid may have trouble him in good stead
He is at an age when Chelsea offers only one-year contracts, while Manchester United and Manchester City have younger options in wide positions. A return to Tottenham in their new stage would have romantic appeal, but a club that has spent two transfer windows dormant would not appear to be in the market for big ticket items.
It seems a pity that a player or such immense talent could be left in limbo but if he stays in Madrid – which is his wish – he may be a squad player and little more.
The goal is that Madrid, has instead his undoing. All it did was raise expectations to an impossible level. Bale was never going to be the next Ronaldo. Who is?
Bale has struggled to kick on following his brace in last season's Champions League final
Stop the slogans, get us home
On a recent journey from Liverpool between leaving Lime Street and arriving at Euston, a little more than two hours, there were 14 announcements about security. If we saw anything that did not look right, we were told, text this number or a member of the transport police. Each announcement concluded with the same vacuous slogan. "See it, say it, sorted."
Next week, on Wednesday night, West Ham at Manchester City, while Watford visit Liverpool. For anyone leaving Manchester for London after 9.15pm, the first available route arrives at 6.31am the next morning; the equivalent trip back after 8.52pm from Liverpool will require two changes, get in at 7.05am and take nine hours and 20 minutes.
Now, if Virgin Trains can not get you home from two of Britain's biggest cities without it turning into a scene from Doctor Zhivago
Why does everyone have to live in a permanent state of fear anyway? Shut up about what you can sort. You can not even sort out the wifi.
Alexis was never a big-timer
Those seeking answers to the collapsing form of Alexis Sanchez may want to consider this straightforward question. When was his last great season?
Not great game. Anyone can have one of those. Not a good season, in which he was the best player at Arsenal, because we know Sanchez was the talent there.
This is about a year when he would, quite plainly, have walked into any team in the country, any team in Europe, almost.
Alexis Sanchez has struggled at Manchester United – maybe they're too big for him
The fact is, Sanchez spent an awful lot of time at Arsenal waving his arms about in frustration at his team-mates. Even his most prolific season, 2016-17, ended in a fifth-placed finish, and a 10-2 aggregate defeat by Bayern Munich in the Champions League knockout stage. It was the result that inspired Munich's mocking tweet: 'Can we play you every week?'
That's how seriously the elite of Europe were taking Sanchez by that time. Yet, let's take that campaign as a recent peak – finish it strongly with Arsenal winning the FA Cup. It is still almost two years ago.
Ultimately, Sanchez could not get into the team at Barcelona and now he can not make the first XI at Manchester United. Arsenal are a big club, too – but not as big as those two. Maybe, for all the arm-waving, that was his level.
There was a long interview with Ravel Morrison, the great lost talent of English football, published at the weekend.
He talked through the issues that saw him lose his way at Manchester United – where he was the most talented natural talent since Paul Scholes – and then West Ham, Birmingham, Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff, Lazio and Atlas in Mexico.
He could have been a brilliant asset to any of those clubs but now, at the age of 26, is on a four-and-a-half-month contract with Ostersunds in Sweden, a small top-division team watched by roughly 6,000 fans.
Throughout a lengthy conversation there was not a scintilla or from Morrison that he may have messed up; which is no doubt why he finds himself where he is.
Ravel Morrison's (right) career has gone downhill since he came through the ranks at United
Why can not the Premier League just back off?
Much debate on this Sunday. Carabao Cup final or Liverpool vs. Manchester United. What is the bigger game?
Personal preference says go with the trophy. If Liverpool could win, or lose, the League at Old Trafford this weekend, then no contest. But they can not. At Wembley, however, one or only three major domestic prizes will be lifted. We can not argue that finite success is important, and then ignore it when it happens. As compelling as the match between United and Liverpool will be, it is a single stride in the title race, no more.
What is interesting is the schedule. We now know little is random. These marquee events are schemed, placed in the calendar for maximum impact and intent. Yet why is the Premier League's aim always to suffocate their rivals?
Chelsea will be competing in the Carabao Cup against Manchester City on Sunday
Manchester United and Liverpool have a single League Cup final in the last seven seasons. It is not a competition or club takes greatly seriously. So there was always a chance some of the Football League's thunder would be stolen by a rival event at Old Trafford.
Just like last season, when coincidentally Manchester United were due to play Chelsea, while Manchester City were visiting Arsenal on the Football League's big day. By chance, that last fixture turned out to be the final, too – but the first game went ahead.
It is not just football that the Premier League seem to target. What are the chances for Manchester's weekend being scheduled for the two biggest weekends in rugby's calendar: the visit of the All Blacks in November, and the conclusion of the Six Nations Championship in March? Yet that is what happened.
The second Manchester derby has rescheduled due to FA Cup quarter-final commitments, but the Premier League wins either way. Now we have a nice elite fixture to shoehorn as the title race nears its conclusion. Their broadcast partners will not mind that.
Any television deal counted in billions is going to be subject to a degree of manipulation, we understand. The Premier League can not leave their narrative entirely to chance. Yet why the need to crush? Why can not they part with even the crumbs from their table? Have not they got enough?
The match on the same day as Manchester United vs. Liverpool in the Premier League
Cardiff have no loophole on Sala deal
The news that Emiliano Sala signed a miscible contract before his untimely death would appear to blow the legal wrangle between Cardiff and Nantes on payment wide open. It does not.
It's standard. Sala was still a Cardiff player through his International Transfer Certificate; it is merely his contract with his new club that was subject to change, not his status.
Let's go back to the king of all non-compliant contracts – the one that Carlos Tevez signed with West Ham in 2006. West Ham were found to have misplaced the Premier League about third-party agreements in that deal and were extraordinarily fortunate to avoid deduction, and relegation, as a result. Yet Richard Scudamore, then the Premier League chief executive, was always bemused by West Ham's deception.
He said that the Premier League policy, in the case of non-compliant contracts, was to register the player and to produce a document that would meet regulations.
Tevez, he said, would have not been able to make his debut for West Ham that Saturday, if the meeting was scheduled for the following week. That is how the Premier League is of compliance.
Emiliano Sala tragically died shortly after completing his move from Nantes to Cardiff
It is common as a formality. The governing body are facilitators, not enforcers. They want to help the clubs do business. West Ham, Scudamore maintained, had absolutely no reason to lie.
That is what would have happened with Sala. The Premier League's legal team would have signed with Cardiff, which would not be permissible and worked together on alternate wordings. Some clauses would have been removed, others rephrased.
Sala would then have signed the new contract which, tragically, he never had the opportunity to do. But have no doubt, the deal was done. These are technicalities and if Cardiff intends to avoid their financial obligations to Nantes, they are setting a precedent that will not find favor with the other 19 Premier League stakeholders. They like the system it is: loose.
It was not the worst result for Liverpool against Bayern Munich, but there is a lot of presumption about the return leg. Yes, if Liverpool score, Munich must more than match that.
Yet, in their last 26 home matches in the Champions League, Munich have won 22, drawn twice and lost twice – both losses to eventual winners, Real Madrid. The only team to score against in that time was Sevilla, having already won the first leg away. Liverpool is a dangerous team, but Munich merit more respect than is being shown.
Monchi is one of the names of the vacant technical director's role at Arsenal. He worked with coach Unai Emery at Seville for four seasons, and had a very good relationship. Why would Arsenal be the manager's man in charge, rather than a figure operating independently?
Maybe so, in future, nobody awards a £ 350,000-a-week contract to a player who does not fit the coach's style, and is barely going to get picked.
Monchi is one of the names of the vacant technical director at Arsenal
Having lost their title sponsors, Team Sky are apparently seeking backers in Colombia. Do your own jokes, you know you want to.
The ECB's new competition, The Hundred: The Oval, one of the greatest cricket grounds in the world, because Surrey had the ECB's temerity to challenge. blueprint.
Wanted by The Hundred: Chris Gayle, a wonderful batsman, but one who spends most of his time agreeing short-term contracts and explaining why he does not want to play cricket. It figures.
Considering that there were no actual rules in the place of the good faith towards rivals, the £ 200,000 fine given to Leeds for the Football League seems fair. A new regulation expressly forbidding viewing training 72 hours prior to any fixture, however, would make more Draconian punishments possible in future.
Let's give Lewis a tax break too
Whenever the popularity of Lewis Hamilton is discussed it is one of the reasons he does not find favor with the British public, or is overlooked for a knighthood, is because he lives as a tax exile.
Presumably we'll be asking Sir Jim Ratcliffe to return his title, now Britain's richest man has also relocated to Monaco for tax reasons.

Volkswagen Arteon Review 2017 By http://newcarsmedia.com/images/volkswagen/2017/2017-volkswagen-arteon_07.jpg Resolution: newcarsmedia.com Size: 113280.00B
The Arteon is positioned above the Passat, and while regarded as the spiritual successor to the CC, the Arteon is an entirely new model and not seen as a direct successor. Virtually unchanged from the Arteon concept car of the Geneva Motor Show two years Volkswagen stopped the production of the VW Passat CC as well as of their top-model VW Phaeton. The follow-up model is called Volkswagen Arteon and comes with a unique and more than just ‘well-made’ exterior design. The new VW Arteon should be Volkswagen While the VW Arteon five-door coupe won’t quite be the most expensive VW you can buy in the UK – that honour goes to the (yes, still on sale) Touareg – once prices are finally confirmed in August 2017, it is set to be upwards of That’s coming next year, along with a name change to Arteon. Never heard of it In Volkswagen’s tradition of creating complex new names for models, the name is a combination of, wait for it, ‘art’ and ‘eon’, implying timeless creativity, we think. In a word, the Arteon is the successor to VW’s .
“Never has there been a cantikier Volkswagen,” says Klaus Bischoff, VW’s design director. Though here it’s important to consider the gap between ‘cantikier’ and plain cantiky. I’m not sure the new Arteon is anywhere near the latter. But even if you aren’t in the Volkswagen seems to want to play a new game The new Passat is a great car but it’s dull. So the Arteon isn’t going to light anyone’s hair on fire. From the few reviews circling around the interwebs, that’s about exactly what the Arteon is First there was the Volkswagen Passat. Then Volkswagen chopped and changed It remains a four-door coupe but has been given a new name, the gladiatorial sounding Arteon, and gone upmarket to be anointed as VW’s flagship model. Bored of sandwiches for lunch? Try these grab-and-go savoury cheese muffins to change things up a bit. They’re not only delicious but quick to make and healthy too. Flecks of tart apple marry well with salty cheese and there’s also a few spices to liven things up.
Apple and cheese is a classic combination which people have enjoyed for years. They go together like tea and biscuits or strawberries and cream. In other words, neither item is quite as good on its own as it is with the other. The crisp sweetness and tartness of apples cuts through the creamy umami saltiness of cheese. This has to be one of my favourite pairings.
Savoury Cheese and Apple Muffins
When I’m dashing off to work, I sometimes find making a packed lunch a real pain. These grab-and-go savoury cheese muffins avoid that pain. OK, you have to prepare and bake a batch of them, but you can do this at your leisure and they will last for 3-4 days. And really, they don’t take very long to make.
Slightly more work is needed with these savoury cheese muffins than normal ones because you need to grate both the apple and the cheese. But this only takes a couple of extra minutes. It’s fine to leave the skin on the apples, but if you really prefer it otherwise, just peel them before grating.
Don’t think these cheese and apple muffins are only good for lunch though. I’ve been known to have them for an easy grab-and-go breakfast. They also make a great accompaniment to soup for a simple supper. And, of course, they are just perfect for a healthy snack when the need arises. It’s hard to think of eating outdoors right now, but don’t forget these savoury muffins when you plan your next summer picnic.
They’re particularly delicious eaten warm from the oven. I’m also rather partial to them in sandwich form with a little butter and some cress. But if you can’t face eating the same thing several days running, don’t panic. These cheesy apple muffins freeze really well. Just pack them into a suitable sized container and pop them in the freezer. They will be fine for up to three months.
Don’t Over Mix
Like most muffin recipes, these savoury cheese muffins don’t require much effort. It’s a simple process of mixing the wet ingredients into the dry. The real key to a good muffin is not to over mix. You just need to combine the ingredients with as few stirs as possible. This helps to give a lovely light texture. Use a knife or a fork to stir the mixture rather than a spoon, which is my top tip for preventing it being over mixed.
#gallery-0-4 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-4 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-4 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-4 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Divide the batter between 12 muffin holes and top with the reserved cheese.
Bake for about 25 minutes or until risen and golden.
As soon as you’ve combined the ingredients into a batter, spoon into muffin holes and bake.
Do I Need To Use Paper Muffin Cases
The simple answer to this is no. Just grease your muffin holes with oil or butter before filling with the cheese and apple mixture. I use silicone moulds as the muffins come out really easily.
Ingredients for Savoury Cheese Muffins
What Sort of Cheese Can I Use?
I used mature cheddar cheese as I usually have some stored in my fridge. It’s also easy to get hold of and relative cheap. But most well flavoured hard cheeses would work in these savoury cheese muffins. Red Leicester, Gruyère or Double Gloucester, for example, would all be good.
Does it Matter What Apples I Use?
When it comes to the apple, it’s best to use a tart flavoursome one where possible. A large cooking apple is ideal. I used windfalls as I have a load of them knocking around in the garden at the moment. But the most important thing is to use what you have to hand. The beauty of these savoury cheese and apple muffins is that you shouldn’t need to go on a shopping trip to buy anything.
Do I Have to Use Quinoa Flour?
I’ve added quinoa flour to this recipe to give a bit of extra nutrition. Quinoa is very good for that. But if you don’t have any or are unable to find any, just use 100% wholemeal spelt flour instead. Spelt creates a lovely light textured muffin and as regular readers know, it’s my favourite baking flour. However, a half wholemeal, half plain flour mix is probably the next best thing.
Can I Use Powdered Mustard?
You can use either ready made mustard or powdered. If you use the ready made, add it along with the eggs. If you use powdered, add it along with the other dry ingredients.
Where Do I Get Sour Milk?
If you’re lucky, you might get naturally occurring sour milk. Leave your milk in the fridge long enough and it will either go off or go sour. You’ll know the difference. Raw milk is great for this and when I had access to it, I used sour milk a lot in my baking. Having said that, it’s really easy to create a cheat’s version. Just add a tsp of lemon juice to 200ml milk. Stir and leave for five minutes to thicken.
Alternative Muffin Flavours
Swap 1 tsp smoked paprika for the cayenne or use ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper instead.
Add finely shredded cabbage along with the apple. Or have a go at these cabbage & cheddar muffins with carrot and garlic.
You can swap the apple for sweetcorn. Or follow my recipe for chilli corn chocolate muffins.
Add a handful of snipped chives to the mix instead of the apple.
Swap grated carrots or beetroot for the apple. Or try my recipe for beetroot, carrot & goat’s cheese muffins.
Add a handful of chopped walnuts for a bit of crunch and extra flavour. Or try my recipe for beetroot muffins with walnuts and goat’s cheese.
Forget savoury and go for these sweet apple chocolate chip muffins made with cream cheese.

Savoury Cheese Muffins with Apple – The Recipe
Savoury Cheese Muffins with Apple

Delicious but quick to make and healthy too. Flecks of tart apple marry well with salty cheese and there’s a few spices in there to keep things interesting.
200 g wholemeal spelt flour
50 g quinoa flour ((or just use more spelt))
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
½ tsp fine sea salt
½ tsp cayenne pepper
100 g mature cheddar cheese – grated ((reserve 20g for the top))
1 large flavoursome apple or two smaller ones – cored and grated
2 large eggs
1 tsp English mustard
4 tbsp rapeseed or sunflower oil
200 ml kefir or sour milk
Pre-heat your oven to 180℃ (350℉, Gas 4).
Place all the dry ingredients into a large bowl and give them a quick whisk. This will make sure everything is evenly mixed and there are no lumps. Alternatively sieve the dry ingredients into the bowl.
Stir in the grated cheese and apple.
Make a well in the centre and add the wet ingredients, ie the eggs, mustard, oil and kefir or sour milk.
Stir with a knife or fork from the inside out until everything is just combined. Try not to over mix.
Divide the mixture between 12 greased or lined muffin cases. Top with the reserved grated cheese.
Bake on the middle shelf of the oven for about 25 minutes or until the muffins are well risen and golden on top.
Allow to cool for a few minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Alternatively devour whilst still warm.
If you don’t have any natural sour milk, you can easily make some. Just add a tsp of lemon juice to 200ml milk. Stir and leave for five minutes to thicken.
You can use either ready made mustard or powdered. If you use the ready made, add it along with the eggs. If you use powdered, whisk it with the other dry ingredients.
