FOOL MASK (GITM BY @venomous-qwille)

Handbuilt porcelain with slip, overglaze, glaze, and gold lustre accents. Paint and lacquer detailing added post fire. Handsewn fool's cap and bells added post fire.

This mask is a part of a (loosely connected) mask series, all hand-built and fired using a range of different temperatures and techniques.

My favourite mask to date, Fool from Ghost in the Machine by the wonderful @venomous-qwille !! GITM is absolutely incredible and I cannot put into words eloquently how much I adore it and Fool so instead I made this mask! Hi!

My word was this mask a struggle to make. The mask itself is entirely one piece, and entirely porcelain!! That's right, those long thin rays are solid porcelain!! The eyes and tips of the blades are done in 22 carat gold lustre. All colouring save for the black and the satin sections of darker red on the face were done with only slips and underglazes. The red colour was correct without the paint, but I thought a contrast from the rest of the gloss would look nice :)

Made to scale, the mask measures 50.8x60.96cm without the hat, and 50.8x116.84cm with it! (20x24in without hat, 20x46in including hat). He is Large, but turned out absolutely lovely and I send my many many thanks to the kiln gods for producing him unscathed.

A NOTE REGARDING WIKIS AND LORE DOCS

I've mentioned this in Misutamojis before, but just realised there was nothing about it here so:

Please don't create public lore docs or wikis for GITM.

I totally understand that the story is already sprawling and there are a lot of characters to keep track of, but here is my reasoning behind this request:

GITM is still in its very early stages, there is so little that you concretely know about any of the characters/story that it is likely that any character bios people write will be fundamentally incorrect. Same goes for lore about the worldbuilding and the Sight. It's much easier to spread misinfo than fact, and certain stuff in fic is kept deliberately misleading/vague for fun story purposes.

GITM is not a TV show and I am not a showrunner. I am just another DCA fan on the internet who wants to chat about their OCs, I should be allowed to do that without having my every word indexed. To be clear, as I have said many many many many times in the past: people quoting what I say in discord, analysing my casual art/magmas/drabbles, or screencapping casual convos and jokes to pull them apart to dissect details from it makes me really really uncomfortable. If people started screencapping what I say to stick it on a doc for proof of XYZ thing about a character you guys haven't even met yet... I would probably stop interacting on this server point blank. Please imagine how you would feel if people were screenshotting your desktop background to read your filenames so they could theorycraft. That has happened in this server. More than once. Please stop. Your FOMO is not more important than my boundaries.

The intended reading experience for GITM is... reading GITM. Yes sometimes I share my personal headcanons and tidbits for characters, but I promise that all of this stuff will be discovered in fic. I don't want people to learn about Fool's favourite songs from a google doc. I want you to learn about it from GITM. That is why I am writing GITM: to tell you about these characters.

I would like the opportunity to make a GITM wiki myself at some point in the future.

I understand this might be frustrating, I know the lore is overwhelming as it stands. As always, if you have questions about the characters, you are welcome to ask in one of the discussion channels- I don't mind people @ ing me for that- I love talking about GITM! I am always happy to answer new FAQs at length.

I present,, a scene inspired by the end of @/venomous-qwille’s GitM AU fanfic chapter 11!! <3

I have lots of trouble falling asleep so I’m ngl I’d probably be knocking on his door every night /silly /pos ,, like i would absolutely adore him lulling me so sleep, whether he’s reading to me, singing, playing with my hair, etc. PLEASE. IM SO IN LOVE WITH THESE ROBOTS IT IS TERRIBLE XD

This scene is majorly inspired off of how I ended up interpreting/stylizing his room and how he reads us to sleep and gives us that offer of helping us fall asleep if we ever need it which is just the sweetest ever ugh ❤️ he is an absolute sweetheart and i love him dearly, all of qwilles designs and characters along with their writing are just all so fantastic !!! If y’all are considering reading Ghost in the Machine, DO IT !!!

Ah I see. I am just a reader of the fic. Nothing else. Idk anyone involved. I was never interested enough to join any servers either, I just enjoyed the fic in peace. It’s nice to wait for a monthly fic, you know? I only assumed you were friends because you mentioned being very hurt over this.

I reached out because some of the accusations are pretty serious. I saw people calling them ableist, whorephobic, racist, two-faced ect. I saw your post lastly. I saw some other people talk about it before you. And like, I don’t want to overstep but is a fanfiction that serious? I am not saying you are in the wrong, I’ve read some screenshots and to my understanding there is a misunderstanding on both parts. And I don’t want to come across as rude either. I reached out because you - and some other people - talked about self harm regarding this topic. Please don’t hurt yourself over something like this. It’s really not worth it. You should be able to talk about how you feel without judgement. To my understanding you were never given a proper explanation. But why did you feel judged if you were never friends? Please don’t take this the wrong way I just want to understand both sides.

it's not so much over a fanfic but the community of it. so like, think of it more like, having problems with a specific class - you're saying "is geometry that serious?" but it's not the subject that's actually the issue. does that make more sense?

as for the judgement - I'm going to assume you're new to closed spaces of internet communities. you say you don't use discord, at least, and I know forums are basically a thing of the past. you're probably more used to wading through the open waves of fandom oceans - twitter, tumblr, bluesky, instagram, etc - as opposed to having joined a group specifically for a fandom. congratulations on staying out of the beach club house. (not sarcasm)

let me use the class analogy again - I mean, I wasn't really friends with any of my classmates so it works perfectly -

just because someone isn't your friend, or even is a complete stranger, doesn't mean you don't feel their eyes burning into your flesh like a brand

you come in late to class, and everyone is staring at you. or maybe you had to wear something too small, or a bit raggedy, and everyone is staring at you.

I had written smut drabbles previously before the ban. after the ban, there was a distinct feeling I was being watched. and I mean, I have yet to be wrong about anything negative. the CPTSD really does numbers on your sense of awareness around others' actions and words. even online.

so it's like, I joined a club. the club was closed. there was a big announcement the club was closed. the club was closed for "doing bad things". and everyone knows I was in the club. you'd have to be stupid to think nobody's whispering about you in the halls.

you're in a closed space. it's easy to know you're being judged by everyone else in it.

being hurt doesn't have to strictly involve friendships. I mean, have you ever been bullied? obviously a bully isn't your friend but still hurts you. can even get others involved, even those in power, if they tug the right strings.

trust me. I'm not lying when I said I've been in misuta's position. "maybe he knows what it feels like to be prey after all".

not to mention, friends are/were involved in this whole thing too. like I said, I felt like I was being pushed away by basically everyone. damaged goods. tainted. don't touch it timmy you'll catch its disease.

and of course, all the friendships I would have hoped to have foster, but now have no way of doing so. you don't just start messaging random people from a place you've been kicked out of.

losing community hurts, especially when you thought you were finding your footing. I'm glad you've never had to go through it. pray you never do. gitm made me want to write and draw again, now I don't want to because it feels all for naught. it's likely nobody even noticed I was gone, anyway. didn't when I voluntarily stayed out of the server thanks to being triggered, so.

mmn, sorry this is getting rambly. I don't know how to explain to you how even people you barely know can cause harm to you. especially when it mimics something that happened to you previously, to the point that you've accidentally called the person responsible by someone else's name.

I'm not quite sure how to express it exactly, but I've always wanted to create something that felt like the culmination of everything that's inspired me. Because I love a lot of things so deeply, yet they're so different, and I had no idea how it'd even be possible to combine them into something that honoured each of their styles and worked literally at all tonally or thematically. Yet every time I tried to follow one core inspiration, it would exclude so many others I wanted to dabble in. And finding Ghost in the Machine, it was like, wow, something like that is actually possible? Not only can you have many different flavours of inspirations in a story, but they can interact? They can develop alongside one another?? They can smooch??? There's many, many things I love deeply about GITM, but I think that might be the most impactful for me. Just, seeing that it's possible, and that giving me the freedom to try for myself, to take all these different inspirations, dig into what speaks to me in each of them, and imbue those themes/ideas/vibes into characters and play with them like dolls from all different series… it's amazing. Like a whole new world that, in hindsight, was always there, but now I can finally see it. I'm so, so grateful you've decided to share GITM with all of us. It's genuinely a wonderful, thought-provoking, and deeply moving story, and I'm so glad I came across it <3

Ahhh thankyou so much, I'm so happy you feel so inspired by GITM! I actually went through a very similar feeling when I read ILM by Ziracona, I was like ohhh shit wait what? People can just write multi mil word ensemble cast stories which are essentially all original characters? hello? I felt like it gave me permission to write what I really wanted, in a way! Please please indulge yourself with your writing, unapologetically put all your favourite things in it, you wont regret it. Writing GITM has been so fulfilling and full of joy and we're only just coming to the end of act one... many more years to go...

Stupidly in Love

A flourish of ribbons fly in the air as a certain jester lays out a nifty little fabric square upon fresh grass, a clearing within a great field, the forest behind, sun in the sky, birds singing their little theatre songs.

Fool gave a synthetic breath in, before turning to his companion.

Misuta glared up at the bright skies above, before he himself turned to Fool, a slight look of confusion coming to his face.

"When you asked if we could go out together, I wasn't expecting... this."

Fool gave the man a cheshire smile.

"Why not? A beautiful day to spend with someone I hold so nice and dear to the heart?"

Misuta sat down in a huff, but Fool had noticed those flushed cheeks immediately.

"... It... is nice today, you're right."

"As I am so often~"

Fool deftly landed on his behind beside Misuta, twirling his baton in his limber hands before settling it down upon the blanket beneath.

Today, there'll be no sun nor moon, just him and the heart stealer beside him.

Oh yes...

"What's in the basket? We can't eat..."

Misuta asks a very promising question, responded to with a curved eye smile.

"Oh, my sweet man~ I'm very glad you asked!"

Fool reaches out, lugging the basket closer before popping the lid up, exposing its treasures like a trove untold.

"Books-?"

"I know how much you love reading, so, I may have sneaked a few books from our little Sweetling~"

A leer was sent the fool's way.

"You stole from them."

'Not unlike how you stole my heart', Fool was so close to saying the words on his very lips, yet he refrained, it was too soon.

"No, no, this fool would never go so low. My... what do you take me for?"

Fool had leant back, a hand to his chest in mock offense, yet he peeked open an eye to view Misuta as silence ringed between them.

Crossed arms met him, a single raised eyebrow with the most unamused expression greeted him in return.

"A thief."

"You hurt me."

"Good."

To anyone else, it'd be rude, but the two shared a coupling laughter.

Misuta would reach into the basket, pulling out the top book.

'The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe'

Misuta hummed in thought, sitting back on a palm as he flipped open the hardcover entertainment, eyes already starting to flitter over the words and read.

Fool picked up his own book, yet he knew he wouldn't be reading, for his attention was taken by another, just as intriguing, thing.

Minutes passed, a comfortable silence settling between the two, one reading, the other attempting.

Fool took in no information, his gaze glancing up to the source of his warmth and love that had spiraled way out of his control.

He wanted to reach out, hold Misuta close to him and never let go, yet there was something holding him back, he wasn't sure...

"Fool...?"

Misuta was looking up at him, why was he so close suddenly? Fool shifted an arm, realizing exactly what was going on.

In his little daydream, he had indeed gotten closer to Misuta, their bodies touching, and Fool's arm had wrapped around Misuta's back, fingers a breath away from his waist.

Fool brought his mismatch up, meeting Misuta's own fuchsia.

"I-I..."

For once, Fool was speechless, his smile drooping at the corners as a flood of nerves was thrust upon him, he's sure he'd be sweating if he could.

He was frozen in place, staring, fake heart pounding with real love, one he felt when around the man in his arms, and the precious Sweetling.

Time stilled as the two stayed in their places, like deer under a scope, they were too nervous to move.

Until Misuta's eyes flicked down.

Fool took that as a sign.

He leant in, lips pressing to Misuta's so softly, he'd have melted, and felt like he would when the pressure was returned soon enough.

Fool's book fell to his lap as he brought a hand up to caress Misuta's face, a small order to stay where he was, yet neither of them wanted to pull away, not even for a second.

They caressed each other, eyes closed as they laid in their shared embrace, an arm tightening around a waist, pulled closer.

Until, they parted, while they had no breath to lose, they still wanted to see one another.

Eyes opened, and their love filled eyes met once more, a deeper understanding now felt within the two.

"Cariad… I… Rwy'n dy garu di…"

Misuta blinked at the foreign words before a soft laugh escaped his lips, and he presses another kiss to Fool's own.

"私も愛しているよ."

A mutual agreement of love, Fool almost couldn't believe it.

He wrapped his other arm around Misuta, hoisting the man upon his awaiting lap, making sure Misuta couldn't escape his grasp now that he was finally his.

"Oh… thank the very Heavens…"

Fool whispered into Misuta's neck, a sigh escaping the man as arms wrapped around his neck.

"Fool…"

"Mm… already with the pet names?"

Misuta rolled his eyes, though his amusement was as clear as the very sky they were under.

"Idiot."

"So mean to me…~ How could you be so rude to your boyfriend~"

They both stilled at that, realization dawning on each of their faces. Boyfriend.

They… are together.

They're in love.

A fluffy hood buried itself into Fool's chest, a heat being felt through Fool's flowy shirt.

"バカ…バカ…バカ…バカ…"

Fool laughed his sweet bird song laugh, his arms bringing Misuta closer to him even still, offering comfort to the flustered man.

"Mm… your stupid."

Stupidly in love.

I’m re-vamping my Main Character’s design for GitM

I’m stepping a bit away from the zipped up black hoodie and adding more color to her. She IS around 12 at the beginning of the story after all, I also tested out an accessory from her ORIGINAL Mach 1 design, but I don’t know if I’d draw it much- especially cause it’s white and she’s traumatized from the color. Didn’t think of that till now actually, I’m just lazy. I tried using clothes that were a bit dated like bell-bottom jeans and some funky abstract print on her shirt. She also has Jean gloves- they aren’t the best but she made them herself and is proud of it! (I actually did that once, a single glove, that was before I knew of the term ‘seam allowance’)

But basically I added more odes to Limbo in her design with (when colored) more pastel type colors and faded jeans. Her hair and body also have patches of lighter tones from her time out of the multiverse. Some patches being slightly darker where her original skin and hair color had held on {I know this makes no sense to anyone but me, please bear with it. I wanna actually do a comic like I originally planned but I still have to plot out things and ugh. Writing and planning out pacing is hard}

Also, just realized that I can’t do a read more and do closeups of her soul. (I’m not really gonna use it in story but it’s like the symbol of the story- from the very first days of thought) so I’ll make another post with some warnings (I was drawing it with the intent to make you squirm when you look at it, it makes me a little queasy when I look at it too long. But then again I also have the mental image of it in motion so... poor baby didn’t deserve this she’s gonna lowkey hate her body now noooooo!!!! I’m so sorry Luna you’ve been through so much and there’s still more!)
