It's fascinating that dream!Rose has an introject of Agent Green, to externalize her self-reflection that makes her so uncomfortable, to counsel her in morally grey atypical situations as he points out... he makes her safe in atypical situations, but she doesn't fully trust him as she doesn't fully trust herself?

It's a pity Rose avoids psychoanalysis (that we don't get more of dream!Green shouting at her), because I want to poke her under a microscope.

Does introject!Green surface while she's awake, or only in dreamscapes? It could make sense for a dreamwalker to have alters that live only in the dream world, as a headspace which they can control to a greater extent that non-atypical systems, that would be very cool...

But I also want to hear Chloe listening in on Green and Rose badgering each other in the daylight and... being very confused yet sweet like Chloe is?

Mission.

A custom Biograft model created to be a guard dog. Up to date with the latest in attack technology. A pricey choice, for some, but worth it for the protection it offers for the buyer. Or, in this case, the buyer's child.

Mission came into the Inpherno with one distinct instruction in its coding. "Protect them at all costs." And protect it did. Its owner's closest friend was disposed of immediately when proven to be a threat. A machine designed to kill will do precisely that, but a machine designed to protect needs to be much more complex.

Gentleness was never Mission's strong suit, but it tried its best when it came to the owner's kid. It kept an eye on them at all times, but it also let them count its spikes and play with its horns. It would trace the texture of the child's palms and ask questions about their day. Maybe it wasn't programmed to be gentle, but a bond was made. Its owner could only hope such things would motivate it further.

Unfortunately, the subject of Mission's protection gained lots of attention for the unusual method of safety. Their gear was highly sought after already, but now their wealth as well. Some were deterred, others took this as a challenge. Mission knew this well. Mission never failed.

And with this in mind, one must ask: Why don't these things ever come with a failsafe?

One fatal flaw in Mission's coding would be its downfall. It was never designed to fail. Not once had it been considered how this guard dog might snap at the wrong hand, given the right situation. So when it lost sight of the kid during a hunt? It flipped its lid.

And that's how Mission found itself draining battery in a junk yard, with a bullet lodged in the back of its metallic skull.

I'm responding here instead of giving more notes to the fakeclaiming post.

There are a few silly things about this claim though, and I'd just like to address them here.

First, someone's attitude towards ANYTHING is going to depend on how supportive their community is. It's not an inherent symptom of DID that makes people ashamed of it.

A lot of people who lack a strong support network are going to feel more shame than those who do have strong supports. And they'll feel less shame in ENVIRONMENTS where those things are more normal.

This is true of queer people. It's true of people with disabilities both physical and mental. It's true of basically every group. Systems feeling less shame in system spaces isn't weird.

The "people with DID all feel ashamed of themselves" narrative was written in the 80s and 90s before the internet allowed systems to communicate and form their own communities. This standard SHOULD NOT be applied to a modern post-internet world. It's functionally a completely different culture. There are probably more cultural differences between DID systems in the post-internet and pre-internet ages as there are between America and China.

And neither should a standard that was made for the environment of "a system in therapy with a singlet doctor in person" be applied to an environment of systems interacting with other systems online over anonymous accounts

Second, DID systems usually do have close relations with their alters. I've had trouble tracking down exact statistics exploring what the relationships are like. But what I have been able to confirm, at least, is a study showing that a majority (69%) said they would miss the voices of their alters if they were gone.

(This was compared with a group of Schizophrenic voice hearers where only 16%-20% said they would miss their voices.)

This shows that a fairly large majority of DID systems have a positive relationship with their alters. So some people discussing "adoring their alters" shouldn't be that strange or unusual.

I'm sorry, but if you have an introject of Worf from Star Trek who ends up filing your taxes, that's funny! 🤷‍♀️

Systems are allowed to observe and poke fun at the inherent absurdity of all of this. Because if you think about it at all, it's pretty silly.

And the contrast with the mundanity of it all makes it even sillier. Because yeah... you can end up with people in your head who identify in some way as a fictional character (fictives have been documented in academic literature and aren't just some internet thing like r/systemscringe wants you to believe), and they end up fronting to do normal everyday things, and that's funny. It's funny because it is ridiculous. Because there's an undeniable element of absurdity to the situation.

Having the self-awareness to recognized the absurdity of the situation and having a sense of humor about it isn't an indication of faking a disorder.

we blocked the endo dni and anti endo tags because we've been endo claimed before As A CDD system. We don't trust most anti endos because of how we function and how our system is largely introjects. It's kinda abelist, given we're also AuHD, so hyperfixations make it much easier to form a fragment, freeze it, and then form an alter later out of stress or trauma. We defensively switch, switch often and covertly. There's never really One person in front, at most there's two or three alters.

And we know it's not traumaendo because it's been like this since our host was a child. Our inner communication didn't function until 16. But the dissociation has always been there. The dysphoria has always been there. The connection was always there. We have trauma that informed and formed our system. So trust me, it's fake claiming us when you call us an endo.

Endo systems have been nothing but kind to us. None of them had questioned our status, none of them had poked their nose in our trauma business, and none of them tried to suggest otherwise. And now with research coming to light about it, honestly, we've stopped caring about "invading our spaces and resources" - news flash, you're doing the abelism thing again but it's not with Autism, Depression or Anxiety this time.

So anti endos have hurt us in so many ways, we just vault the whole bar and blanket block the tag + anyone spewing that shit because they'll do anything to push people like us under the water. If I prove I am a CDD? "Well your trauma isn't worse than me. Oh your trauma was pretty bad? Well, you have a ton of introjects from recent media so invalid. Oh you're autistic? Well I'm autistic so-" on and on and on.

I encourage you to tell your therapist this. See what they say. I think you'd be shocked.

Sorry that we're not really in the state to infodump about this the way we usually can and really want to. But SU excites the shit out of us, and here's at least the barebones explanation:

The show is about the effects of trauma and how to address it. It covers generational trauma, and it even appears to address trauma related to colonialism and conquest, but it doesn't really model that last take from the perspective of the colonized very well. And that’s not just because it was written mostly by white people, though that’s a problem.

The reason it's plot is the way it is is because it's about the instigating event, the Diamond's mistreatment of Rose, and the ways that everyone (not just Rose) dealt with that for millennia afterward.

Right?

OK, so.

Start with the Crystal Gems. They live in a temple that looks like a person. And within that temple, they have their own rooms that work almost exactly like headspaces.

THEN, they are introduced to the audience as the group of beings going around and finding corrupted gems and bubbling them up and storing them in their rooms.

That's active dissociation of trauma holders.

When Steven goes in to one of their rooms to release a corrupted gem that he regrets bubbling, that gem goes and inadvertently releases a bunch of others.

That's an illustration of the hazards of poking around in dissociated memories. It can cause a cascading trigger.

That, right there, convinced us that at least the Crystal Gems represented a system. Combine that with Garnet being a fusion who loves being a fusion, but who can separate and reform, and we're dead convinced there was a system on the writing team, and that the central characters and themes of the show were written specifically for the benefit of systems with trauma, whether that's DID, OSDD, or CPTSD.

A lot of the messages can still apply to singlets, but they work best for systems.

Once you accept that, it's honestly hard not to see the entirety of the show's universe and history as the system itself. Especially with Steven's name, Universe, symbolically pointing to that perspective.

Most especially with how the show wraps up.

With corrupted gems being especially traumatized system members, you kind of logically have to look at all gems as part of the same system. At which point, you start to notice that all the gems are traumatized at least a little in ways that profoundly affect their behavior, including the Diamonds.

This raises the question of what the humans represent.

They could be introjects of people the system has met, the town they live in. But you don’t have to read it that literally. If the show is metaphorically about living in a system, the exact explanation isn't necessary. It's not canon, it's metaphor. Intentional and real, but not a fact of the story.

They could represent otherwise normal members. System members who would have existed as they are without the trauma that shaped the gems.

They could be dream people, the system members we all encounter in our dreams and mistake for NPCs.

They could be the members who aspire to be human, to be able to function when fronting in the outworld, and who are not caught up in being protectors (the Crystal Gems), persecutors (the Diamonds), or trauma holders (the corrupted gems), and the like (the other gems).

But whatever they represent, when Steven became able to fuse with Connie, it was obvious that the humans were really, fundamentally the same kind of beings as the gems, playing by the same rules of physics at a basic level. They're system members, too.

And when the show delved into their lives and showed the effects of the gems' antics, past and present, on them, that made it undeniable to us.

They're part of the system, too, and integral to everyone's future recovery, and part of the need for it.

As for Vira, I think some things are best left as thought experiments. It's fun to play the role of the Harbinger, poking fun at the people who are convinced we're invading everywhere and trying to turn everyone plural.

It's quite another to actually try to create a headmate that actively wants to seek to make copies of itself by getting people to introject it, with the intent of those introjects having the same desires. I'm not saying I'm convinced Vira would be successful at proliferation. But the fact that there's even a small chance it could means it's probably best not to test it.
