Today's mindfulness lesson is taken from @anipemachodron and her book #livingbeautifullywithuncertaintyandchange. It has been really inspiring delving a bit deeper into the practice of #presenceofmind and making friends with areas of my life that I viewed as hinderances or annoyances. Like washing the dishes! The most powerful growth has been in my relationship with my breath. So in using the breath as inspiration, today's noon class at @trybeyoga yoga will encourage "being mindful of the breath to keep us present". We use the breath as our home base whether in movement or in stillness, allowing the mind and body to flow seamlessly together. 🌈 "An important part of meditation practice, is to non-aggressively drop that ongoing conversation in our head and joyfully come back to the present, being present in the body, being present in the mind, not envisioning the future or reliving the past but, if only briefly, showing up for the very moment." #pemachodron 🌈 #practicemindfulness #alwaysastudent #humbleteacher #yogainspiration #breathein #breatheout #smile #ourbreathisourpartner #liveinthebreath #makeeverybreathcount #makeeverymomentcount #community #peace #love #compassion #understanding #selflove #selfcare #practicenonattachment #practicesmiling #loveisoursuperpower #itsthetrybeyall #ivorycatyogi #🙏#💜#🌼 (at Leander, Texas)

In modern yoga, and especially with social media, we tend to associate the yoga practice with physical poses. And although that is one part of it, it is an oversimplification of yoga as a whole. . Yoga requires us to be completely honest and transparent with ourselves - coming face to face with the excuses, justification and stories that we create for ourselves. It’s cultivating a level of truthfulness that no one else call us out on. It’s a sense of intimate honesty that we just need to own up to. And that in itself is not easy to do! . But through that process, we start seeing things for what they are. And truly seeing is a beautiful experience. . 2017 has been an amazing year for my yoga practice. Not because I got to do some groundbreaking poses (I can’t think of any actually!). But I started seeing my attachments through my own lense of honesty. And I started seeing all the emotions that were linked to those attachments - the pride, resentment, jealousy, anger, fear... . Seeing these things allowed me to truly work on letting go. And slowly as I let go of the attachment, I felt that I could truly just experience. I can get on the mat everyday, to practice without expectation, and to really move in meditation. . This year I’ve truly started feeling that connection between what I do on the mat, to everything I take with me off the mat. It’s hard to put into words, but I think I’m starting to see how it’s all connected. And I’m so grateful to experience the fruits of this amazing practice 🙏 . . . . . . . #2017reflections #yogajourney #yogajournal #gratefulyogi #grateful #gratitudeforyoga #yogapractice #yogaprogress #yogaoffthemat #practiceyogachangeyourworld #yogapractice #dailypractice #lettinggo #practicenonattachment #yogaforoursoul #fortheloveofyoga #yogasplits #hipopener #ashtangayogi #upavisthakonasana #splitsjourney #practiceandalliscoming #yogainspiration
