i’m afraid not. the only way i could see myself finishing anything on my ffnet would be if i rewrote it completely, and i have zero inclination to do that. mostly because i just don���t think any of it’s very good, from my perspective as the writer; it’s been eight years since i’ve so much as tried to work on any of it and i’ve vastly improved in that time. and rewriting fics i’m not interested in anymore, you know, that’s obviously not how i want to spend my time when i have other fics to finish that i actually like, and i’m trying to focus on my book, too.

regardless of what fandom i’m writing for, these days i tend to go for modern aus (with the very occasional exception in which i’ll write some canon storyline, but then i get it out of my system and go back to happier things). so if i were to write jily again, it would certainly be a muggle au (and posted to my ao3). contemporary romance is really the only genre that interests me at this point — so even if i felt that my old stuff held up in terms of quality, the setting just feels stuffy and restrictive to me now.

i keep those fics posted because i know people like to reread them, but i personally haven’t even skimmed them in years. there’s so much i dislike about what i did with certain characterizations and relationships and just on a technical level, it’s all... bah. not something i care to revisit.

sorry to disappoint, but i’d prefer to keep things honest!

Me Reviewing Lily and James Fanfiction Part 12:

Fanfiction: All Right, Evans?

This fanfiction picks up in sixth year and only covers their sixth year and unlike canon and other James and Lily fanfictions, they actually start their romantic relationship in sixth year whereas in canon and in other stories, we know that James and Lily actually get together in their seventh year.

As for my overall thoughts on this fanfiction, I thought that James and Lily got together too fast, like there wasn’t enough build-up or romantic tension before they got together. I felt like 15% of this fic was them warming up to each other and the other 75% was just James and Lily creating more problems for themselves in trying to navigate a secret relationship. Yes, these two have a secret relationship that they try to keep secret from their friends. ( They’re idiots but I guess that’s why we love reading about them.) I wanted more tension before they became a couple. I want to be on the edge of my seat reading that teenage romance angst where Lily is just slowly starting to realize she actually has positive feelings for James, so I felt that this fic just didn’t give that to me.

Also, Sirius wasn’t written as a quidditch player in this story which really ticked me off because he is literally the definition of a jock goth. Like how do so many people just forget that he was on the quidditch team?

Some of the things that I did like were Sirius taking a muggle studies class and being fascinated with the muggle postal service system. James and Lily went out on a not-date when Lily was still in denial for her feelings for James.

There is minor character death in this to really showcase the upcoming wizarding war, There was also a lot of smut, but good smut though. My previously mentioned comments still stands, but I still had fun reading this.

Rate: 6.8/10

Most Memorable scene: Lily absolutely goes apeshit on the slytherins who tried to gang up on her in the corridors. She sends them all to the hospital wing and later Dumbledore sort of calls her a hero.

Most memorable quote: “But its your fault she decides she likes me because she sees the house and figures out we’re rich.”

Hi! Are you planning to finish your Jily series or write anything new for them?

it’s a pretty safe bet to say that if it’s on FFnet, i won’t be returning to it. i’d had a few plans for my series, but a lot of time has passed, and a lot of growth has happened for me, and those fics just don’t hold any appeal to me anymore. i’ve become a much better writer in so many ways, and i have loads of other things i want to work on these days. i need to focus that time and energy on what i want.

as for anything new, i don’t have any inmediate plans; but, sure, i could see myself whipping up a couple oneshots if the mood strikes. if that’s the case, they’ll be up on my ao3, and i’ll be sure to link them here.

Hello! I have read your fanfictions in the past and have really enjoyed them. I am an avid reader, so when I discovered fanfictions and started reading your's, they gave me emotions and made me feel...Stuff. I just wanted to say hi to you and say that you write some amazing stuff. Also, I have a question. Do you still write jily fanfictions and maybe tedromeda? Thanks again.

hello, nonny! it makes me so happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed my writing, especially my projects from eight-odd years ago, when i was just starting out and my fics weren’t at their strongest.

i’m sorry to say, though, that i don’t write any harry potter fic anymore. i’ve left my ffnet profile/stories up because i know people still enjoy them, but i don’t anticipate returning to anything there, or posting any new HP to my ao3 (which is where i post all my fics now, only you won’t find any HP pairings in my catalogue).

there’s definitely a more long-winded, vaguely poetic reasoning behind why i’ve moved away from that fandom — actually, there’s a long-winded, vaguely poetic reasoning behind why i don’t get Involved in any fandom anymore — but suffice it to say i just don’t have an interest in it like i used to. i’m just into writing a different sort of relationship dynamic these days, and there’s no HP pairing that appeals to my creative sensibilities.

there might be something more recent on my ao3 you might enjoy (a lot of my GOT stuff has a similar vibe to my old jily works, i think). but either way, thank you so much for reading and reaching out! xx
