I have not written smut for alastor, but I have read a decent fic recently that made him being touch averse very clear as well as not really experiencing romantic attraction. I think he was written as demisexual (which I am not sure if it is or is not on the ace spectrum). But, I am very curious to hear your personal insight, though. How would you personally go about writing an aroace character in a sexual or romantic situation while also still being very clear that their orientation is aroace? What details or elements of their personality would you be sure to include? And how does the situation matter when writing for an aroace character?
Demi is under the ace spectrum! Personally I think you can write these sorts of fanfics but you need to show that there’s no attraction as a baseline. Demisexual means you like people who are very close to you and that’s your “type” for sexual attraction. I know someone who’s Demi as well.
I think establishing that there is a care for the partner but it’s different than a romantic or sexual interest. They might wanna hold hands still and snuggle but they don’t feel that attraction. Instead they have that want for that persons presence in a different way. There’s something called a Queer-Platonic Relationship some might have mentioned. I think writing out a Queer-Platonic Relationship would be a great start because there’s very little fanfics in that. It’s basically having a best friend who’s a little more special than that. But to write out a regular romantic relationship with an aromantic asexual would mean showing through little things that while the attraction isn’t there the love and care is always there. Love doesn’t always equal attraction. You can love a person without feeling attracted the same way you’d love a best friend!
If writing for an Alastor fanfic, people think he’s very touch repulsed but in the show it’s clear he’s very okay with initiating touch with people he’s close to. So like before that care is there, but the attraction doesn’t have to be. Im not aromantic so I would suggest asking someone who is for more in depth on that aspect of course. But saying things like “I cherish you”, “I care for you”, “you feel special to me” etc can establish there’s a deep bond but no romantic or sexual feelings behind it. Also different pet names. They probably won’t use babe or bae but might use dear or darling (just some slight examples) since those are less reserved for romantic relationships.
Im not sure if I got my wording right on this one but I am gonna try to post a video to elaborate a little better hopefully!
Edit: I’m unable to post videos on it bc they’re all waaaay too short to get everything I want
Also I wanna say y’all have been super nice about this I’m grateful for you guys being so kind about this sort of topic and to hear people agreeing is refreshing. I appreciate the energy you guys have given to me about this topic 🫶🏻

SPOILERS!!!Charmed 1×16
Ok yall I needed to sleep on last nights episode of Charmed to fully organize my thoughts. So I am actually going to start off by saying that this is probably my favorite episode and i actually love Charity as a character and that her story is a tragedy.
Let's dissect the past. So from the last scenes with Fiona, Charity, and Harry I have this image of how thier story played out and how it led to this. I got this from 1) thier bedroom scene discussing how they used to fantasize about binding thier powers and running away 2) Harry when Charity asked him to help her and he says "I never knew you at all" and 3) from when harry describes his relationship to mel and says how essentially they got to caught up in on another to see what was going on. I think this is mostly reflective of Harry. Harry got caught up in this fantasy and romance that he missed that this wasnt a "romance story" but a tale of two sisters.
I think Fiona is evil (Not the Sarcana which existed before her), but I think that she was always probably in competition with Charity. They way that she rubs in her specialness to Charity at the end makes me feel that it ran longer and deeper than after she was in Tartarus. Harry was so distracted he couldnt see what was really going on between the two. Charity while maybe good in intention is self-preserving and controlling. That isn't what makes her "bad" but it is a flaw that Harry didn't pick up on which didnt allow him to see.
Charity is a character that believes in absolute good and evil, after the loss of her sister, she is more ridged about these rules (except for the ones that don't make her feel good like not being with harry or not being allowed to save him). She brings about her own downfall and yet it was just as much brought on by the structure she trusted and was taught by. She killed Marisol and that gutted her. But the other elders where brought on by panic of being found out. I think her most telling line of this episode was when she tells Macy she just wants her to forget and things can go back to before. That is what she wants for herself. Wants to go back in time when she and Harry could be distracted, when she wasn't this paranoid villian afraid of being found out. At the end of it all she loses everything, her sister hates her, harry realizes there was this whole other side of her he didnt know, and she is powerless. When Alastor showed up at the end, I was like "WTF are you planning you sexy evil demon!!", but also I was like of course she is going to go with him. She has nothing to lose and that worries me. Either Charity is going to become a super bad villian or she will be a reluctant one, but I just feel for her. She shouldnt have killed Marisol or the other elders, but that fall was a long hard one. Also Marisol saying she forgives her also broke my heart.
Harry needs to learn this lesson. It is what bothered me about the OG Charmed whitelighter and charmed relationship, because I am a firm believer that love is filling but not consuming. When you have people's lives at stake you need to be responsible (not necessarily self-sacrificing there is a difference). In the OG there is one episode where the sister is so devastated when her whitelighter is taken away that she almost loses an innocent little girl, but at the end of the episode she says that she understands why that is a problem. She says she is willing to give up her relationship to make sure she doesnt ever lose someone because of it. And the elders send Leo back and thier relationship is sanctioned because she now understands the gravity of her role as a charmed one.
Again as a Hacy shipper, I want a Macy/Harry relationship built not on a fantasy or just love of the forbidden, but on mutual respect and openess. Harry dropped the ball back then and even in the episode. I dont want him to be discouraged from future relationships, but just not to act like a teenager from a old teen movie.
Speaking of Hacy. Y'all did you feel that Macy just called Harry as an immediate reaction to being frightened? I feel so, because every other time she either called Charity or talked to her only (as screamed at her to call Harry while she had a moment). I also love how even though Charity was totally setting up Macy and Harry to believe that Macy's demon side killed Elder Briyanka (dont know if that is how it is spelled I didn't relook at the name plate thing) Harry was quick to tell Macy she didnt kill her.
On lighter notes, Lucy is BAE and I cant really believe no one saw her spiking that drink. Parker :(
Mel and Maggie fighting Charity together just felt right.
