Wish Rewrite

I have this tendency for rewriting material I either don’t like or think had wasted potential. At the time of writing this, Wish hasn’t come out in theaters but I did pirate it as there was an early screening. I also read the junior novelization and bought the concept art book. Needless to say, I was disappointed by what I read/saw.

I feel like Wish could’ve been better. Granted, the story and characters are not terrible, but they certainly leave much to be desired. This is literally Disney’s 100th anniversary, yet it doesn’t really feel like it. Not only that, but the movie felt incredibly rushed. Yeah I know that most Disney movies try have a run time of 90-100+ minutes, but I think a few more minutes could’ve been added to this film.

So, I decided to indulge myself and outline some changes that I think could’ve made the story slightly better. These ideas are by no means perfect, and in the end, this is all in good fun.

Spoilers ahead btw

The main story of Wish is essentially that Asha wants to get a job as Magnifico’s apprentice so that her grandfather’s wish is granted. But Asha finds out about the King’s true nature, and after questioning him, doesn’t get the job, and Magnifico vows to never grant Sabino or Sakina’s wishes.

Asha makes a wish on a star, and the star comes down, Magnifico tries to hunt down the two of them, he uses an evil spell book to create a staff, Magnifico destroys some wishes, Asha gets help from her friends, they sing a song to defeat Magnifico (I ‘wish’ i was joking), Star gives Asha a magic wand, and all is well.

Oh, and Amaya is… there.

It’s nothing complex, pretty cut and dry. And I don’t have a problem with a simple story! But this feels like it’s… missing something.

Firstly, I’d change the title. Disney already has a boat called Wish, and not every movie needs to be one word like Tangled, Frozen, and Brave (amongst others), so the story could be renamed “Asha and the Wishing Star” or “Asha and the Kingdom of Wishes”. Idk, something that evokes a classic fairytale book feel (or that does confuse people with a boat).

((Side note #1: I honestly enjoy that the story started off with a book, as a nod to classic disney movies, especially Snow White. That was cute))

Secondly, and I know I sound like a broken record at this point…

AMAYA👏🏼SHOULDVE👏🏼BEEN👏🏼A👏🏼VILLAIN👏🏼ALONGSIDE👏🏼HER👏🏼HUSBAND👏🏼

The original plan, according to the concept art book, was to have Magnifico and Amaya to be a villain couple who were partners in crime and owned a black sphinx cat named Charo. However for… reasons, the creators took the ‘safe’ route and made Amaya the good one out of the two.

But the problem is, by erasing Amaya’s evilness, the creators of Wish essentially removed any purpose or personality she may have had and thus, she was left to become a literal ‘supporting’ character. First supporting both Magnifico and Asha, then leaving Magnifico to prop up solely Asha.

Deadass, you can literally remove Amaya from the story and nothing would change. Which is probably why she was exempt from much of the promotional stuff minus the dolls. Because she literally serves no purpose but to be… there.

So, in my version of Wish, Amaya would be a co-conspirator to her husband and yes, I’m adding Charo too. Her personality would be inspired by classic female villains such as the Evil Queen from Snow White, Lady Tremaine from Cinderella, and Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

Vain, glamorous, cunning, and unabashedly evil, Amaya would be the Morticia to Magnifico’s Gomez, the brains to his brawn. She’s the girlboss, he’s the wife instigator. Magnifico spoils Amaya rotten with countless gifts and praises, whilst Amaya is the more calm and collected evil compared to her husband’s ever-growing temper.

While she starts the story with no magic, Magnifico just can’t leave his wife hanging and shares the power of the evil spell-book with Amaya. And yes, even Charo gets in on the fun, turning from a small house cat, to a massive shape-shifting beast who breaths blue fire similarly to a dragon (shut up i think it’d be cool)

Magnifico and Amaya essentially keep the wishes of Rosas locked in the castle as a form of obedience. By giving the citizens false hope, it makes them more dependent on the royal couple, and the two have more power over everyone.

Anyways, let’s get to the main characters: Asha and Star.

I don’t have much of an issue with Asha’s character, more so her design. I already made a post showing my redesign of her, so that’s out of the way. Tbh tho, I also have an issue with the rest of the costume design of Wish, being a big costume nerd myself. The movie’s supposed to take inspiration from the Mediterranean, primarily places such as Spain and Morocco (and the Amazigh people for Asha), but the fashion feels like generic European medieval fashion.

I feel like the whole storyline of Asha’s interview with Magnifico was pretty pointless, so I would have it that she just starts off as the kings apprentice, whilst also working as Amaya’s scullery maid.

The couple took Asha in when the girl lost her father at the age of 12 (according to the film), and she’s been working for them for five years. Asha works not only to support herself, her family, and her community, but also as a way to distract from the grief of losing her father. Which is no issue, as Amaya always bombards the girl with chores, and Magnifico only teaches Asha the most basic of magic for fear of her growing more powerful than him.

I made Asha work as a scullery maid not only as a reference to princesses such as Snow White and Cinderella starting off their respective stories as maids, but also because scullery maids acted as assistants to the kitchen maids. Dahlia works in the kitchen, Asha and Dahlia are best friends, I figured it made sense.

But anyways, on the day of Sabino’s 100th birthday, Sakina tells Asha to take a break and return home, as she hardly visits anymore due to work. Asha says she’ll try asking the king and queen to get off early, but that she can’t make any promises.

Asha meets with Magnifico and asks for the day off, but the king refuses. However, wanting to keep her loyalty, Magnifico finally shows Asha the wish chamber, and even allows her to witness the wish ceremony that night. But once Asha starts questioning the king on his methods, any goodwill between them begins to fade.

Another thing I’m disappointed in, is that originally Star was going to be a shapeshifting humanoid inspired by the Genie and Peter Pan, and may have even had a romance with Asha. But, the idea was scrapped for the more cutesy, ‘marketable’, version of Star.

In my retelling, I’d choose to do this human shapeshifter version of Star, but I’d name him something else. The star Earendel was mentioned in the concept art book, which is the farthest known star from Earth and not only means ‘morning star’ in Old English, but is also named after the Tolkien character, Eärendil.

I would call this shapeshifter Star Earen, and because Disney loves their animal/cute sidekicks, Earen can have the ‘Kirby’ Star as a companion, just like how Asha has Valentino and Magnifico and Amaya have Charo.

((Side #2: Anybody else notice that Star lowkey looks and sounds like Kirby😶))

Earen and Star journey down to Rosas once they hear Asha’s pleas for guidance. Once Asha tells of Magnifico and Amaya’s lies, Earen reveals that he actually met Magnifico decades ago. The amount of years shocks Asha, as she realizes that the King and Queen might be far older than what they are.

((Side note #3: I didn’t realize this till someone mentioned it, but if Sabino is 100 and he gave Magnifico his wish at 18, then he’s been waiting 82 years for his wish to be granted. Which means it’s likely that Magnifico might be immortal. That, or Disney didn’t think this shit through (most likely)))

Anyways, Earen actually attempted to stop Magnifico and Amaya’s ploy to keep the wishes of Rosas locked away, but he was sealed within the heavens until he and Star heard Asha make her wish.

We can have it that the king and queen spun the story so that Earen was made out to be an evil that once threatened Rosas, but Magnifico banished him and saved everyone, essentially making himself out to be the good guy and manipulating the narrative.

Asha and Earen must now work together to expose the lies of the royal couple, and along the way, the two begin to fall in love. Earen disguises himself as a peasant boy so as to remain inconspicuous, while Asha tries to go about her job as if nothing happened, evading the King and Queen’s suspicions.

Star gives Asha a stick infused with stardust once finding out she is, quite literally, the sorcerers apprentice. It is also so that she may defend herself, as Earen has his powers and a sword (similarly to Peter Pan).

Unlike Magnifico, Earen and Star teach Asha the wonders of magic and the potential she wields, showing that there is no need for her to hold back when her gift can help so many, including those she loves.

The three manage to sneak into the kings study, but only have time to retrieve Sabino’s wish and return it to him. However, Magnifico and Amaya, now strengthened by the powers of dark magic, find Asha and Earen and threaten to destroy all the wishes should Earen not surrender to them.

And as a way to ensure that Asha doesn’t foil their plans, Magnifico destroys both Asha and Sakina’s wishes, despite Asha not being eighteen yet. However, the evil magic allows him to do so. This act weakens the two women, and infuriates Earen.

Earen then willingly complies despite Asha’s opposition, and Sabino takes Asha and Sabina to the seven (well six) teens for aid, who are in hiding after Simon ratted them out and who now serves as a puppet to the king and queen.

Despite loosing her wish, Asha finds the strength to carry on through the memory of her late father, enlisting the help of her friends and Star, who managed to evade the royal couple’s grasp. The team must work together to save Earen, whose power will be drained by Magnifico and Amaya. And if such a feat were to happen, then Earen would die and Rosas would be lost.

The five teens go into the woods to distract one of the royals, with the aid of the forest fauna and Star. Amaya chases the group alongside Charo while Magnifico tortures Earen and begins stealing his power. With the help of Dahlia, Asha sneaks into the castle to confront her former mentor and save Earen before it’s too late.

At first, it seems that the heroes have the upper hand with Magnifico neutralized, but then, Amaya swoops in riding Charo, who now takes the form of a giant dragon. Earen transforms into a dragon himself and battles Charo and Amaya, while Asha continues battling Magnifico. Star even comes to help after the original plan fails.

However, the unholy trio have the upper hand, and Amaya strikes down Earen, giving Magnifico enough time to not only drain Earen’s power, but to trap Star within his staff. With their combined powers, Magnifico and Amaya gather all of the peoples wishes, even stealing the wishes of those not yet of age, which includes the teens.

With all the wishes gathered, the couple and their pet destroy all the wishes, taking their energy for themselves.

Asha falls into despair as she watched her friends, love ones, and community succumb to the grief of loosing their wishes. The king and queen force Asha to apologize to the people, mocking her and making her feel even more guilty.

However, Earen comforts Asha despite his weak state, telling her it’s alright and that she shouldn’t be ashamed of wishing on Star, as he brought the two of them together. The two kiss, the strength of their newfound love and hope shining through the darkness and inspiring the people of Rosas to rise up.

As the sky and stars become alive, Magnifico’s staff is destroyed, releasing Star in the process. All the evil magic he, Amaya, and Charo used is sucked out of them and vanquished, and Earen is restored to full vitality.

Think of this as the transformation scene from Princess and the Frog. Asha and Earen get new outfits, with Asha even gaining a crown and a new wand from Star.

((Side Note #4: The “transformation” in the finale of the film is so stupid. Asha could’ve literally gotten a new dress once she becomes a fairy godmother, but instead, Star just made her sparkly. How magical🙄))

Rosas rejoices, as they realize they don’t need the king to make their wishes come true, and they can pursue them themselves. With Magnífico and Amaya banished from Rosas, Asha and Earen become the new rulers, being names Prince and Princess respectively.

And that’s basically how I would’ve done Wish. It’s not perfect, but it’s just an idea. I’m just disappointed that Disney do something better for their 100th anniversary.

Shadow High series 3 my new beloved

I didnt even like most of em until i saw them in person, but the knowledge that they'll probably never be in the show has my brain in a "well its free realestate" kinda mood

Random list of information cuz ive been plotting out friend dynamics and background lore

-i like to pretend Rainbow High/Shadow High are actually Rainbow University/Shadow University cuz im in art college Right Now and i think it makes more sense with the whole dorm room situation. And also major makes more sense than focus IMO

-I changed Pinkie's major from film to just undeclared. I think she eventually does land on Film. She just has a lot of interests! Her dream has always been to one day direct films, and I think she comes to love them even more while developing ideas her with the group as she winds up in a Director/Producer position for most of them. BUT also every time she takes a class in a different program she cant help but fall in love with that way of making art too. So she has a hard time picking for a while and changed her major a couple times before landing on Film.

-Pinkie and Berrie bond a lot over a shared interest in vocal synths (tho Berrie knows more about them than her).

-The two made Pinkie's vtuber model together!

-the fandom wiki says PJ is from germany?? Idk how canon that is tbh but ive decided to embrace it i guess

-Rooney's canon name is Scarlet Rose, but i thought it was kinda lame especially when Rosie Redwood is also in this line sooo I renamed her! Stuck to the color name puns tho. Mar Rooney. Maroon. Haha

-Speaking on her though i love that shes from texas and likes writing scifi mystery type stuff and that being said i just Know deep in my bones that she was a Voltron Legendary Defender fan and Keith was/is 100% her favorite. She has a continued fondness for mothman specifically cuz of this.

-PJ and Rooney actually talk about fandom and shows/movies ALL the time. They dont have a ton of overlapping interests, but where they do? The two literally never shut up.

-Rosie is such a random character, like outside of her design she feels very poorly considered. So I scrapped the cosmetology thing and made her an illustrator instead! I think it works better with her love of making art in nature. I can see her being really into illustrated guide books. I think shes a bit snooty when it comes to art too. It takes being friends with other artists to become more open minded.

-I like the idea that Rosie is mainly friends with Rooney and Berrie ontop of that. The three of them often tag team storylines and how theyd interpret them into different mediums. Rosie will draw up a bunch of concept stuff while Rooney writes up a pitch bible and Berrie will start making shit move and throwing in her own ideas on camera angles and character designs.

-as an animation major Berrie was required to take a sound design class early on, which is where she met Oliver! Hes very laid back, and likes to go with the flow, but functions a little like the "mom" of the group. Often reminding the girls to take breaks, drink water, stop looking at their screens lest they get eye strain etc. He's multi-talented tbh but Music is his one true passion and he likes how the girls are always giving him collaboration opportunities.

-Oliver and Rosie like to talk sports a lot, both having played a bunch when they were younger and throughout high school.

-Lavender Lynn is Oliver's number one "person who needs constant reminders to settle down" she is in a constant buzz of trying to get the best shots and is utterly obsessed with the process of artistic documentation. Everything must be documented.

-the whole school loves her for this actually, she has a whole side gig where other students hire her to help photograph their projects. She saves everything she earns from this for her future dream plans to visit paris. She has it set really, many of the artists who she helps photograph now will remain steadfast clients of hers forever onward.

-PJ and Lynn actually took a print media class together at one point. Which didnt at the time spark an everlasting friendship. But it did give PJ an easier in to ask for Lynn's help documenting a project the group was working on. One of Lynn's first times photographing them work happened to fall on a day where Rosie had planned to trick everyone into going on a nature walk sans devices... Lynn wound up really appreciating this outing and decided to continue hanging around the group even after that project had ended.

Your interpretation of Johan is amazing. I rarely see people that can read characters well, and Johan is such a complex character that finding someone that manages to write him like you do leaves me really impressed. So thank you, but also really, you're amazing. Also I love your writing style and how you word yourself, your language is very rich and you're very creative. Every time I read something you write im shocked you didn't write his character.

Anyhow, after all the praise, that I truly did mean hole heartedly, I wanted to ask you, how do you think Johan will be like with a partner that's very good at reading him and can kinda see through him, but is also very secure and isn't afraid of what they see/don't seek to change him (unless they see an unhealthy behaviour he has that harms him and even then). I think it'll be really interesting to see how he'll react to that, someone that can see him but can take it if he challenges them.

Also, say that person was very good at making others feel secure and comfortable. They have their own problems ofc, but as a person they're a safe space for their friends and they're good at making people feel seen and protected in a womby way (sorry for the weird wording I've going on lol), but like I feel like if he'd like someone enough to be in a relationship with them, but then that person sees him too much and he's kinda like uhh... Yeah idk about that, and they can kinda tell but they also make him feel weirdly comfortable (just a tiny bit tho bc again, does Johan ever feel comfortable? The answer is probably no) in a way that makes him kinda stiff and alarmed bc damn that feels kinda good to- nooo I cannot I shall be a stoic little bitch

Alright, someone who truly sees him and stands their ground? That’s gonna shake him up in ways he didn’t expect.

Let’s get into it.

Johan would hate you.

Not in the ‘burn-your-life-down’ kind of way—more like the ‘sits perfectly still for six hours because he accidentally felt something warm and now needs to reboot his entire worldview’ kind of way.

Most people either try to fix him or flee. That suits him. Predictable, efficient. But you? You see him. The patterns. The emptiness. The trace flickers of someone still in there. And somehow, you’re not afraid. Worse: you’re not impressed.

You don’t idolize him. You don’t try to fix him. You just… exist. Calmly. Steadily. Like emotional gravity he can’t escape. He sees you do this—for others too. Not just him.

And he hates it.

Because what does he do with someone who sees him—really sees him—and doesn’t flinch, doesn’t fawn, doesn’t fall?

He tests you, naturally. Withdraws. Prods. Waits for the collapse. But you don’t break. You stay, unshaken. Not as prey. Not as savior. Just you.

And that quiet refusal to play his game? It gets under his skin. Suddenly, trust starts forming like frost on glass—unwanted, fragile, undeniable. And he panics.

Because trust is the gateway drug. It leads to comfort. Comfort to vulnerability. Andvulnerability? To him, it’s corrosion. A slow undoing of the persona he’s spent years curating.

See, Johan doesn’t see love as soft or safe. To him, it’s invasive. A contagion. It doesn’t warm—it strips. It renames you, reroutes you, ruins your detachment.

So when you offer it—not as rescue, not as worship, just gently—it doesn’t feel like affection. It feels like a threat. Like something he can’t control.

He’ll tell himself he’s still above it all. That you haven’t touched him. But deep down, he’s unraveling. Because you’re not trying to be his everything. You’re just not leaving. You see the monster and the child—and stay anyway.

That’s terrifying.

Because if he lets you stay, he might start to believe something dangerous:

That he’s not hollow.

Or untouchable.

That maybe—just maybe—he’s capable of being real.

So yes, he’ll resist it. Deny it. Try to outlast it.

But he’ll lose.

And it might be the first thing that ever makes him feel alive.

Swap au character intro part 5 (and final part, probably!)

Yeah I decided to stop procrastinating and finish doing these- apologies as I can't draw old people for shit lol. Oh yh also Chapter 3 out of the fic's out yippee!!!

(I can't seem to get the link to work but I don't think it'd be that hard to find on y'all's own- oops)

Anyway- ramblings about the designs below the cut, as all previous intro posts <3

Time to talk about Melami! Horray! Ok so originally when I was still renaming them to fit their reassigned fortes, I was gunna call her "Goldsteed" because horse. Animals. Animal investigation. I'm so fucking smart I swear /j. Anyway- she basically has her canon uniform except I covered it with a big 'ol fuzzy coat and matching legwarmers. I would've given them both an animal pattern too if I wasn't. Lazy... and I didn't wanna overwhelm it with too much detail either so. Valid excuse? Idk. Oh also the teeth tattoo on her cheek is meant to look more like tiger or lion teeth then human - hopefully it comes off that way lol.

And Lastly Zange. I can't draw old people I stg but I really put in my best effort here! I won't lie I was so hyped on the fact that I'd finally finished it that I forgot to give him his fave tattoo but just know he's meant to have the one he does canonically. As for his fit, I figured that he could dress a little more casually in this au since it's Aphex with the whole warzone backstory instead of him. I referenced the costuming for Peter Capaldi's version of The Doctor because... well, just because ig but I kept his original cane and haircut - albeit a little more raggedy because guess what- I can't draw super short hair either!!! Woohoo!!!

I doubt I'll be making any more character into artworks like this but I do have a lot of plans for things I wanna do with the various citizens of Kanai Ward - some of which include design alterations that I'm sure I'll get round to including in art at some point or another anyway. For now tho, imma stick to more of the writing then the drawing.

TBH the Fernsong discussion just reminds me that the fandom isn't ready (and probably never will be) for the discussion that Shellheart is just as bad as Rainflower. 'But he divorced her!' Yeah, and that's the bare minimum when your spouse becomes an abusive parent. It's also the extent of what he does beyond occassionally calling her out for her cruelty. He does not at any point: - Meaningfully use his status as deputy to attempt to circumvent Rainflower's desire to rename Stormkit Crookedkit - Refuse to use the ableist name his (ex)wife gave their son despite being against it - Offer to suggest to Hailstar or even demand him to revert his prefix back to Storm- at any point, despite disagreeing with the name change - Didn't take remotely any issue with Hailstar compounding the already ableist name forced upon him by giving him the suffix -jaw Like IDK, its been odd to me for a while that he's praised. He didn't protect his son from abuse at all. And he could've at least tried, especially as deputy. Prefacing this with the fact that I have experienced ableist abuse and parental neglect in the hopes that it keeps people from getting weird about this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the fandom cant even handle crowfeather being called abusive half the time, or appledusk being called a shitty boyfriend. they are ABSOLUTELY not ready for the shellheart conversation, especially since he actually did follow through on doing one (1) single good thing for his kid. as minimal as it was.

i don’t think im as hard on shellheart as his detractors, i feel like crookedkits renaming is very sloppily written in general, but yeah. i get the hate. its exhausting to hear heaps of praise get tossed onto a guy who did less than the bare minimum (especially since, knowing this fandom, hed probably still get praised if he did stay with her and just said “hey babe, thats kinda shitty…. idk….”)

parents who dont do anything to stop their kid from being abused, but say out loud that they totallyyyy support their kid are still incredibly shitty.

I'm not sure why but ever since the internet was blessed/cursed with "Battle for Nightmare Moon" (Reminder I don't support Hypercrystal) It has consumed my brain to the point I have created an entire au based around it. For the longest time, I've wanted to share it, but at the beginning I was stopped by social awkwardness, followed by the Hypercrystal controversy & not wishing to be associated with him. But now that I've used Tumbler more, I've gotten more comfortable sharing this hyperfixation of mine & all the craziness that comes with it. Starting off, here's the general outline in regards to my take on bfnm (I have yet to figure out a name for my version of bfnm). 1. Time frame - Each season would be written to take place during the same time period as their respective bfdi season counterpart (ex. Season 1 - 2010/2012) 2. Gender - Yes, gender. Why? Well to go with the opposite theme, my dumbass brain decided to default gender-swap each character (With a few exceptions, e.i Winner) lest I decide otherwise. Now why am I mentioning this? Because various other takes on bfnm has the cast keep the gender the same as their bfdi counterpart, which sometime causes people to I guess correct me- but hey, these are open-source objects, nor was there confirmed genders. 3. Cast - You think I just limited myself to the opposites? Ha! Lol no. So before the whole Hyper drama (We'll get to that soon), I had planned to involve the characters from another video of his that were also open-sourced (e.i What if bfdi had new team members) as contestants because, like everything else, I could. 4. Hosts - Bringing up the drama again, before such, I decided to have Hypercrystal as a character, being the host. Why? Because every version of bfnm I saw had a mock announcer box of some sort so I wanted to be unique I guess (idk I'm thinking back like 9 months). Now, this hasn't changed in the slightest, for I have pre-planned too much to be ruined by drama, but also out of spite (The trauma I have prepared for this crystal ball). However, that's not the only crystal I've snatched (e.i the 100kly Object show contestants), recreated the assets & all because these goobers are too silly. Oh yeah, also the number hosts are negative versions of themselves (except x, bro became y).

Anyway with that out of the way & to follow up on it, we have my designed for the other crystals (The photo above is for reference- Also I tried to post these fools in a reblog of an earlier post of mine but the reblog wasn't reblogging so-) Brighter/Darker Crystal

Tf2 cardcaptor au part 1

Pauling is either working in a bookstore who is trying to find a particular old book for a client - administrator ( not named that here) or she's working for Administrator directly to find this Book.

Either way, she finds this book. It's the clow book. But as soon as she opens it, the cards come out and fly away. You know like with Sakura.

But instead the cards work a bit different here. Some cards have Merged due to such inactivity they started running low on magic. And so they merged to try and conserve magic.

Some more than others.

The cards also have a human as well as pure magic form.

The one card Pauling held into was the Breeze ( shout out to @infini-tree for the name. Also go check out her art she's great. And she puts up with all my weird ass AUs and crossovers and so on and so forth. I already dragged her into animorphs)

Anyway The Breeze... is Medics card. ( Red medic specifically). Nothing happens with him until some time afterwards.

Pauling is Freaking out. She found the book. But everything Flew out. She doesn't know How or Why but she knows that her client probably wants what's In the Book.

She spends some time trying to figure out what to Do. She's looking at the Card she has (the breeze is a mix of the Fly, float and Windy) and it's got a holographic/ lenticular effect where if you move it back and forth the picture changes and you can catch a glimpse of the Component Cards it absorbed.

That night she gets a Dream where she sees the Cards and a flurry of magic but most importantly she sees the Key/ wand.

The next day, she notices a weird bird / not a Normal White Dove hanging around. She doesn't think much of it but talks to the bird, partly to herself as well. And then it talks back.

It introduces itself with a German Accent and says he's the Breeze Card, and that she's a card captor now. She released them all and now she needs to collect them all.

This is all too much for Pauling but there's no time to process it all. He's right. She's got to get those cards back so she agrees. Medic here is playing the role of Kero because I didn't want to cast Kero. I suppose I could have had Bidwell and Reedy take on the roles of Kero and Yue(?) but I like condensing this.

Anyway Pauling officially signs her name on Breezes card, putting him under her mastery/ command. He gives her everything she needs to know.

She does sees Medics human form at one point but idk when.

As the Breeze, he can give her the ability to fly/ manipulate wind in general.

I can go more detailed and step by step plot wise if anyone really wants in a different post but here's the break down at the moment for who's who card wise

Breeze ( fly/ windy/ float) - red medic

Dash ( if I don't bring the Blu team as extra cards he becomes the agility or the Movement/ Speed a mix of dash and jump)- red Scout

The create - red engineer ( if with the Blu engineer they become a half fuses card that rejects the fusion and breaks into the Create and the Copy with Blu engineer becoming the Copy)

The illusion/ mirror- red spy

The strong/ strength- red heavy

The Fight( renamed the Combat)- red soldier

The Knight- ( sword/ shield fusion)- red demo ( the sword is Eyelander. He's still there and can Talk he's just not his own card anymore. I went with the demo knight theme instead of explosions because I didn't think there eas an explosion clow card and I wanted to Do something with that sub class idea)

The arrow(?) will consider going back and revising- red sniper

The Firey-red Pyro

To the surprise of no one. I did consider ' the Whimsy'- leaning more into pyro land but I felt like I should at least give red pyro their actual element.

Promise I will not be killed with hammers lol

So, my guy Tri:

He’s a Theelin Jedi, and he probably had a normal name early on but I have never come up with one I actually liked lol, so I will just refer to him as 'he' before he gets his actual name. I’m currently in the process of redesigning him based on the Monk Parakeet (blame Blue’s Theelin design challenge from last year) so he’s very Green. White-gray skin, green markings, white-green hair.

Anyway he’s force-sensitive which somewhat unfortunately manifests as super-sensitive telepathy. Like he is CONSTANTLY hearing other people’s surface-level thoughts instinctually which is extremely overstimulating and upsetting for a kid

Because of this he mostly has to spend time around Masters and people who know how to control and fully shield their thoughts from him, at least until he’s old enough to learn how to shield himself so he can block out other people

He has a very limited social life even once he can spend time around other kids his age because he’s not used to them and because he’s constantly worried about his shielding

At some point when he’s like 10 or something, he obviously meets Ash’i though! I imagine they meet when Ash’i like impulsively asks him to read their mind or something

He and Ash’i are good friends for a couple years until Order 66 hits when they’re both 12. Tri’s still an initiate at this point, but he’s conveniently off-planet for the Temple Massacre (thinking he was in a similar situation to Trilla and Cere, in a group of younglings on a trip with a master-Padawan pair)

However Order 66 is like. Catastrophically horrible for him considering the super-sensitive telepathy. Like it’s bad for everyone obviously but he’s literally feeling the thoughts of 10,000 people in his head as they die horribly

The other Jedi he’s with are able to hide out and keep him and a few of the other kids safe for a couple weeks, long enough for the clones’ orders to change from ‘kill on sight’ to ‘capture and send to Nur’

Of course this means that he and the group he’s with are eventually captured. Idk what happens to the other Jedi after this point. Maybe they escape or die or also become Inquisitors, I'm not sure. I need to think more about them because this is obviously kind of important to him.

Once he's on Nur, the Empire figures out his whole telepathy thing really quickly because he immediately starts screaming the instant he sets foot in the Fortress because he can feel all the prisoners being tortured and stuff

Obviously the Empire thinks a traumatized child with the ability to literally read other people's thoughts would be an extremely useful weapon, so they do the standard torture/cult brainwashing routine with him (would love some actual details on how that works, disney) and rename him Third Brother.

I got attached to him being Third Brother way before the Kenobi series came out, and I can't bring myself to change it. Maybe the Inquisitors gave Reva a name/number that had already been assigned as another way of telling her how much they hated her

Even Fallen to the Dark, Third Brother still has the whole uncontrollable and overwhelming telepathy thing, which makes Bleeding his Kyber crystal hell. Rather than giving him the standard cryptic force visions to tell him not to do it, the Kyber crystal is basically just screaming and pleading in his mind for him to stop. It's an incredibly painful and awful ordeal that takes hours for him to complete, and once it's over he can still hear it screaming at him any time he activates his lightsaber

This means that he is uh. very bad at any kind of lightsaber combat. Most days he can barely stand to turn it on--the screaming and pain is unfortunately not the kind he can harness into Evil powers. Because of this, he develops fucked-up telepathic force attacks to incapacitate people rather than physical dueling and stuff

He doesn't really need to use these all that often, however, because the Empire's main use for his talents is interrogation. Having a super-telepath is, of course, extremely useful for extracting information from captured rebels and Jedi.

I want to clarify how his telepathy actually works; he doesn't just naturally read people's minds, per se, but he picks up on people's 'surface thoughts'. Like, the general stream-of-consciousness things that are constantly running through people's minds, stuff like 'I'm cold' or 'shit I forgot to pick up my meds'. His ability is more like being able to perfectly and instinctually read people's body language, but it's constant and overwhelming and he can't turn it off. So, generally he can't actually access deeper stuff, like memories, plans, or things people actually want to keep secret, because people, especially people with any kind of training, have natural barriers in place to keep that stuff private.

As an Inquisitor, then, his job is to break down people's walls to the point that he can break into their heads and rip out the information the Empire wants, which is a skill that actually took a lot of practice to develop. In order to do that, he basically just hooks people up to the Empire's torture machines--torture doesn't actually give you accurate information, but it is pretty good at breaking down people's mental barriers--and asks them what he wants to know until they're weak enough that he can get the information. EXTREMELY fucked up. Got a villain monologue where he explains this process buried somewhere in my wips

He mostly stays on Nur to do his fucked up and evil interrogation stuff, but I imagine he's also somewhat involved with Project Harvester, and other Imperial organizations like the ISB occasionally request use of his skills, so he gets off-planet sometimes. He hates these trips almost as much as he hates Nur.

At some point maybe 5 years in (I don't think we ever established a timeline for this) he's off-planet on one of those missions, and there's a report of a potential Jedi nearby. Third Brother does not do actual combat missions/Jedi hunts because his skills are too valuable and he's also shit at them, but it's the Inquisition's job to take care of this kind of thing and he's the only representative of the Inquisition nearby, so he's forced to look into it

Surprise, it's Ash'i! He tries to convince Ash'i to come back to Nur with him and join the Inquisition because he is Extremely Brainwashed at this point, but Ash'i obviously refuses and they have a big fight about it. This fight mostly consists of Third Brother running away and throwing increasingly desperate and messed up force attacks before he eventually activates his lightsaber and subsequently loses

Not very clear on stuff after the big fight, haven't done a lot with that yet, but Ash'i refuses to let him go back to the Empire and they go on the run while slowly breaking through his Imperial programming nad stuff. Ash'i nicknames him Tri because he doesn't want them to call him by his old name and they don't want to call him Third Brother, but it eventually grows on him.

That's the basic stuff I've got for him right now! As mentioned, I'm in the process of redesigning him and sort of rewriting his story, so those are just the beats I'm sure of for the minute. Been forever since I talked about him though, thank you for giving me an opportunity to blab

I've got Caden brainrot, here's my thoughts!

Idk if you've talked abt it yet but in the DILLH au what's everyone's ninpo/mystics like? Did Leo lose his at any point, did Caden get Leo's portal abilities? Does Caden even get/have ninpo since in a weird way he could be considered a Hamato? If he does, does he have his AND Leo's?!?

BUT OHHHH, don't think you've actually confirmed it but DOES ANYONE but Caden know that his body is home to two people??? Does everyone think Caden is ACTUALLY Leo, and not know that Caden and Leo are two seperate entities possessing the same body????? Because that would be such an interesting plot.

Caden is all like "stfu I'm not Leo >:(" when everyone else is like "but U are??? Mikey accidentally put Ur spirit into that body so who else would U be?" And everyone just goes along with it thinking Leo renamed himself Caden or something and not knowing that the body already had someone else in it before Leo arrived who is ACTUALLY Caden ykyk?? That would be wild, and even more so chaotic for Caden's daily identity crisis >;)

⬆️ furthermore would Caden try to explain and tell people that Leo's just a ghost in his head and that Caden is seperate from Leo?? And better yet... Would they even believe him? It would be so evil if no one believed Caden was real... Like if everyone thought Caden was the one hijacking the body and not the other way around...... Mmmmmmm, I could even imagine the brothers hypothesizing that Caden could be some new krang trick/scheme to infiltrate the resistance or something and try to get rid of him.

Procrastinating rn, Draxum made a backup stasis turtle... I imagine he would've improved the Empyrean formula or whatever that he used to make the original guys. I highly doubt he would have just simply cloned someone, no way could he resist the mad scientist streak and perform a few tests and experiments and improvements along the way over a whole 17 years??

Caden could possibly have an even better immune system than the rest, be more powerful physically/mystically (well, eventually, I doubt someone fresh out of status for 17 years would be coordinated enough to do much yet lmao) but there's a ton of ideas I have rattling around about this, Draxum's had 17 years to work on a secret project and who knows what he might have done to Caden.

He could have gotten his hands on better materials, since laws in a apocalypse are kinda null and void and who's left to stop him >:) he could use illegal ingredients, maybe some krang technology... Who knows?

With training and all that, when he eventually gets the hang of existing I think some people would probably only see him as an incredibly powerful weapon of sorts...... Hmmmm... You got master Leonardo in the body of a fit, brand new and healthy 17 year old body. Reckon he'd get pressured into fighting against the Krang too early because of that?

And if the krang found out about Caden, I feel like they'd be intrigued at how their enemy discovered a way to circumvent death, maybe theyed want to capture Caden or something to figure it all out, maybe dissect him or infect him to create an even stronger weapon (...I sense this is simultaneously a great plot idea but ohhh crap the angst/torture Ive unknowingly come up with for Caden, OOPS?? Sorry Caden)

Hey... what kind of memories does Caden even have? Where in earth did he get an education xD was Draxum just hiding in his lab, sitting in front of a tank every few days with like an old scrappy kids book teaching him stuff? (Assuming he possibly could have been awoken periodically or something over the years, idk how else Caden would already be sentient/intelligent by the time F!Leo hijacks the body if the first time he wakes is when that happens 🤔)

I think you can guess who my favourite of your ocs is.

The more I think about it the more Caden gives of Casey junior vibes (specifically from the movie, being dropped into a whole new world -> kinda like learning about the world after being in stasis for years) Caden would probably get a bit of deja vu when he gets sent into the future with CJ, at least he'd actually have someone to relate to now this time about all the new weird things to learn about in the future.

Ripe backstory potential right there and these ideas r all for u, I love this au too much. If you ever need a beta reader for DILLH, I'll be there.

Oh boy…lets get to answering these *rubs hands together like a fly*

JUST LIKE A WARNING/REMINDER OF THIS AU. I haven’t actually figured everything out plot wise and whatnot, so honestly some things could possibly change when I actually get to writing this series.

1) SO! Leo actually lost his ninpo during the Krang war, due to idk, stress or something (haven’t figured out what yet tbh) but anyways, he lost it only recently, maybe like 2-3 months before he was even transferred to Caden’s body. Everyone else, like Raph, Donnie and Mikey still have their ninpo intact, so they’re all good. Caden on the other hand, doesn’t have ninpo, at least not at the start! It's a high possibility that Caden actually does get ninpo (not sure if he’ll have his own ninpo or not, still figuring that out) but he does have Leo’s abilities on making portals, but he’ll get that later on.

2) So, with his body situation and the whole Leo living inside him thing. At the start, no one thinks Leo is actually in there. Except for Mikey. Well, Mikey isn’t 100% sure, but he has a feeling that Leo is still around. But because of hour similar Leo and Caden look (with slight differences obviously) and with the whole being told that Leo’s soul was transferred over to Caden, they just mistake him for Leo. A lot.

But later down the line of the story, they’ll eventually know. Whether it’s by Leo possessing Caden for the first time and spilling secrets that only he knows about his brothers or something, or by Donnie doing some kind of test on Caden and somehow confirming that, hey, Leo’s actually been here the whole time.

3) Caden’s identity crisis…oh boy, so, he is always telling people that he’s not Leo. Has been from day 1. And the brothers mostly just wave it off and not really listen. They do or possibly will have moments where they think that Caden is actually Leo, but it’s just Leo is de-aged and has trouble remembering things. If anything they’re confused by Caden’s identity as well since sometimes they believe he’s actually Leo and sometimes they rethink that and think that Caden is just Caden.

4) With the creation of Caden. I feel like, since it is the apocalypse, they didn’t have many resources to be making new beings. So Draxum had to do what he could with whatever he had left over. He probably did try to perfect it to some level, and that being Caden is I suppose more resilient to some things, maybe just a tad faster than they is. Just little things like that. Not sure about his immune system though 😅.

Would he have used Krang technology? Hm…I’m not 100% sure if Caden is gonna have Krang DNA or whatever in him. So let’s just say for now, he doesn’t have their DNA.

5) Dude, this boy is gonna go through all kinds of problems. With both Krang and human ‘allies’. Like say, TCRI or EPF. Cause, it is as you said, with some training, and with Master Leonardo inside the body of a perfectly fit, younger mutant, they would definitely want to weaponize him for the war. That’s the human side of his issues with what they want to use him for. With Krang, it’s similar but they also want their revenge on Leo, especially upon learning more about the situation of Caden.

6) The Krang would definitely want to capture Caden, learn all the secrets of the Resistance and its members. Possibly idk, brainwash him or something into being their soldier. Prime however would also definitely want to destroy Caden. Cause like, hello? Leonardo who had been a pain in Prime’s side for years is trapped inside Caden's body? The leader of the resistance? Oh, he could just so easily kill him off then and there and the war is basically theirs for the win.

7) Caden’s memories. He doesn’t actually have much. Since, while he was in stasis, he’s been mostly asleep. But the reason why he can talk and has some kind of form of education/intelligence is simply because there were times where he did wake up at random times and Draxum would always be there and just teach him a few things. How to talk and what things are.

Leo had also significantly helped him when they conjoined souls and share a body. I don’t know how to describe it exactly but Leo’s mentality and what he already knows just kinda naturally affects Caden, making him just be quicker at understanding things, talking, walking. Like their minds just connected and since Leo has been alive for a while, sharing a body with Caden, he can just go around and control Caden like it was his own body too. (That probs make no sense, but trust me on this when I say to not think to hard about it)

8) Ooh, he is kinda like Casey Jr with the whole “hey, you’re in a brand new world now” not only that, CADEN WILL HAVE SUFFER THROUGH THAT TWICE WHEN HE IS SENT BACK IN TIME WITH CASEY 😭 this dude cannot catch a break fr.

Caden is def being awkward when he meets the younger versions of the brothers. Especially with Leo, but they also get into a lot of shenanigans with each other, so that’s going to be fun—

Dragon Age OCs

This will be an extensive post so obviously I'm going to put it under a read more and also tag it with spoilers... because not everyone has finished Veilguard!

That being said, I've put everything in order of most recent game to the earliest, that way if you're only interested in what weird shit I'm cooking for Veilguard, it'll be right there at the top.

EDIT: this got long. This post is Veilguard only. I'll put Origins and Dragon Age 2 in a different one.

This is mostly for my own personal reference as I continue to write banter and fanfiction, but I like posting it where people can see it if they get curious. This is all subject to change, as OCs can (and should) change as their writers do. That's progress and growth, babey.

Maybe someday I'll even include screenshots of my OCs. Dragon Age Origins my crusty beloved.

Veilguard

Lanalath De Riva (he/they)

My currently canon playthrough. Not my current playthrough, just my canon Rook atm. This might change with time.

Age: 29

Race: Elf, non-Dalish

Faction: Antivan Crows my beloved

Class: Sword and Orb mage.

Specialization: Spellblade, lightning and fire focused. This was nuts to run, and I did it by accident.

Romance: Lucanis the disaster that you are

Birthplace: Seheron

Brief backstory:

Ngl this one was a hassle to work out. Originally Lana was a Lords of Fortune named Monarch, only I did a full playthrough and then realized Lana fit the Crows far better. And then I changed their entire backstory bc it no longer fit 😭

So Lana is, as you read, from Seheron originally. This is partially due to The Iron Bull's influence, I hyperfixated pretty hard during Inquisition.

Lana's one of many in that shitshow of a war-torn nation, probably made exceptionally worse now that the Antaam's separated from the Qun. Bioware give us more world politics and lore.

Their story is pretty straight to the point, and very DA2 and DAO inspired. In the endless war between Tevinter and the Qunari, some magister decided that a feral elf child from Seheron would make an excellent gift, and kidnapped them. Lana (a la Anders vibes) stubbornly refused to give their birthname, and was renamed by another elven slave aboard the ship.

This slaver ship got sunk before it could make it to port, and Lana was one of the ones that survived.

Through sheer luck, they made it to Antiva, and barely scraping by, made it to sixteen years of age.

And then a young Viago fell out of a window directly on top of them trying to escape someone inevitably trying to kill him, and a friendship was formed.

Lana stayed glued to his side since then, being his loyal shadow, until the Crows gave up trying to separate the two and just recruited Lana instead.

Viago's "canonically" (via datamined information) 32ish, so there's only a three year difference, making them have an incredibly strong rapport.

As a result of their childhood, Lana speaks fluent Qunlat and Antivan, and a handful of Tevene. This means the Crows send them to deal with the Antaam when needs must.

What happens if Lana doesn't become Rook/doesn't romance Lucanis:

It takes an incredibly long time, but Teia and Viago eventually get Lana into their bed (and into their hearts). Lana remains Viago's shadow, and helps Taash guide those who choose to split from the Antaam into better lives. Also helps deal with the sudden influx of Tal-Vashoth in Antiva. Even after the Antaam, you know population statistics are going to drastically change.

Other OCs Lana knows: Kaarash-Taar (later documented), Ghil'danan (later documented), Wren (later documented), and Riesel (later documented).

Ghil'danan Ingellvar (he/him, ftm)

My favorite punching bag. Idk why I love traumatizing him specifically so much, but I do. I've written considerably more for him than I have my other OCs, and I'm almost done with my playthrough of him. And by almost I mean like. Post the two dragon fight.

Faction: Mourn Watch! My favorite goths.

Class: Warrior, sword and shield

Specialization: Reaper. It made sense for Mourn Watch. Surprisingly, not my favorite, though the death tornado is cool.

Romance: Emmrich, my beloved. I keep wanting to spell it "Emmerich". Old classy goth x Grungepunk goth energy. Sorry, dad.

Birthplace: Denerim! *Rubs hands together evilly*

Backstory:

I'll...try and keep this one short. I've been hyperfixating on him lately so his stuff's gotten out of control.

Ghil was born in the Denerim alienage, pre-blight. Raised briefly by his mother, he wasn't born Ghil'danan, it was the name he took later on.

Ghil's father was out of the picture from the start. His mother shared stories of his father growing up, so he's aware neither of them wanted to part, but there was a lot of baggage and kids learn young not to press on things that make their parents cry later.

Fast forward to the events of DA:O.

Ghil is more or less raised with Shanni as a sort of sister figure. Events begin steamrolling, his mother is one of the elves sold to Tevinter by Loghain (when I catch you Loghain Loghain when I catch you), and he's witness to all the horror of The Wedding. Those of you who played City Elf origin know what I'm talking about.

Ghil develops a hatred of Shems (he gets better, but those scars run deep, and I don't blame him), and things get dicey with Shanni. I'm tiptoeing around it because origins was very direct with Shanni's alcoholism.

The blight hits, the Alienage gets overrun, and Ghil flees. He loses Shanni in the chaos, and gets temporarily picked up and thrown into a tree by the overhead Archdemon, therefore cementing his fear of dragons and heights.

He obviously survives the fall, and runs past a human girl pinned in place by an ogre that was killed by a piece of fallen rubble.

He hesitates. Remembers that his mother would have wanted him to be kind to those in need, and with a LOT of effort, saves the girl.

They flee the city together. He learns her name is Wren, an orphan. Ghil is twelve as of the fall of Denerim. Wren is seven.

I'm not gonna get into the more mary sue aspects of Ghil's personality, but needless to say, it turns out Wren has the blight, Ghil willingly makes a deal with a spirit to transfer his brand spanking new magic to her to postpone her blighted condition, and they make it into Nevarra by sneaking through the Orlesian border. This is not easy, but they're children so it's easy...er. Easier.

Mourn Watch goes "hey that's some interesting magic you've got there" and takes Wren in who's like "hey fuck you take my brother too" and they're like "these two are definitely not related but okay"

And then they attend schooling together, until a few years later when Wren's condition begins to worsen again, because it's the BLIGHT, and she gets recruited into the Wardens.

This is where Wren and Ghil's paths split. More later on Wren. For now, my punching bag.

With Ghil's genius, fierce sister out of the way, he gets bullied RELENTLESSLY. Ghil's a smart cookie, but his grades begin to drop and he fully introverts.

Then, Hezenkoss takes him in as her student. Sort of. He's technically her student, but moreso she wanted a henchman to narrate at, and he got stuck doing a lot of manual labor.

Hezenkoss gets him trained up as a Reaper, especially as he shoots up like a weed and becomes The Second Tallest Elf Ever (I'm looking at you, Halsin Baldurs Gate 3), and transitions. Hezenkoss doesn't notice. He's not her Archnemesis Emmrich, so she doesn't care.

She also doesn't notice when he anonymously tips off the Mourn Watch that she's up to shit. Someone had to be the whistleblower, that's all I'm saying.

And from there, he graduates into a proper member of the Mourn Watch.

After a chance encounter with Professor Volkarin in the Memorial Gardens (with the tissue box, a la Clue), Volkarin comforts a grieving eighteen year old who has incredibly complicated feelings about the death of Shanni and being completely alone in the Mourn Watch.

Volkarin is unaware that this not only revives passion in the Mourn Watch in the Youth (this is actually pre-transition, oops), but plants the seeds of a budding affection.

Ghil then spends the next fourteen years trying to forget his first crush, fails miserably, wrecks several relationships in the process, and changes completely by getting tattoos and pretty much only ever hanging out with the dead.

And Myrna and Vorgoth.

Then the events of the game happen, and oh no! Guess there are Still Feelings for Volkarin, and now Ghil is helpless to fall head over heels in a proper, adult love.

What happens if Ghil isn't Rook/doesn't romance Emmrich?:

Let's be honest. Ghil would always romance Emmrich. But in the course of "never became Rook and Emmrich old man yaoi'd with Strife", it's...hm. A bit sad.

Wren dies in the end (unless she's Rook). So Ghil fully closes off to the living, and spends the rest of his life with the dead. He still has a living friend in Lana, of course (to be explained in Wren's backstory), but that's the most of it. I'd like to hope that Ghil falls in love with someone else. Do I, the writer, think he will? No. Ghil has been spending fourteen years trying to fight his own heart. He's one of those people who wants to move on but just can't. It's the inherent tragedy of his life.

Where the hell is Ghil's dad in all this?:

He's one of the Greater Dead. Literally cannot leave the Necropolis, got the love of his life pregnant and kicked it. Ghil has no idea, and Etheldredd also has no idea that his child is a part of the Mourn Watch.

The Necropolis is vast. Maybe they'll find each other posthumously.

Wren (she/they)

She's baby and I love her. Too bad I'm addicted to the inherent tragedy of the plot. I'm not goth for nothing.

Race: Human!

Faction: Grey Wardens, my favorite narrative punching bag. Or Bioware's, besides the elves.

Class: Mage, whackin' stick staff.

Specialization: Death Caller! I haven't played it yet but I plan to for her playthrough. Seemed appropriate.

Romance: Undecided. Maybe Bellara, because Neve's already planned for someone else and I managed to make Harding disapprove of me A LOT in the beginning of my Wren Run.

Taash is also definitely on the table. As I said, undecided.

Birthplace: Denerim! Same as Ghil.

Backstory:

The majority of Wren's early childhood can be referenced in Ghil's long-winded backstory. So this'll hopefully be shorter.

Wren was the illicit bastard of a Chantry sister and a Templar. Thus, she got dropped off on the orphanage's steps and summarily forgotten.

Despite this, Wren had a pretty happy childhood! Sure there was the occasional haunting and blood magic and slew of murders in Denerim, but that's pretty normal.

...right?

She knows who her father is, simply because his conscience is more guilty than her mother's. Her father stopped by to check up on the orphanage regularly on his circuit, and she often got cheap gifts from a father who was rarely there.

Still, she dreamed of being a Templar when she grew up.

Flash forward, Denerim, the Blight, everyone dies, and she finds a brother in Ghil'danan.

For a while, Wren remains one of the top students in the Mourn Watch. She grows up, attends lectures by Volkarin who becomes a mentor figure to her, and perfects her magecraft.

And then, her blight symptoms get worse.

Wren collapses on her way to class, and is found by a Grey Warden, who offers to recruit her and stay the Blight's hand a while longer.

She agrees. (This is where her particular backstory gets a fuckton of content warnings, so I'm going to keep it light. To be blunt, my OCs are often a dumping ground for trauma, and Wren got a lot of the heavier ones. Trigger warning for grooming and abuse. There'll be red text like this when trigger warnings are over.)

Wren is trained specifically by one Warden, the one who saved her. He's an older Weisshaupt veteran who's well-respected, and encourages her as she grows.

And when she turns eighteen, he tells her that due to her young age, it could reflect poorly on him that he made her do the Joining so young. He tells her that if she wants to remain a Grey Warden she'll marry him, and she owes him for it because he saves her life.

And for a few years, this works. She endures a very abusive relationship.

And then, Ghil finds out.

Because of her Warden husband's venerated status, he's hard to bring to justice, so Ghil just takes the swifter path.

He hires a Crow, a young one named Lana De Riva, and although they're reluctant when they find out it's a Warden that's the target, context for the hit makes them agree.

And together, they make it seem like an accident.

Wren's highly conflicted at first, but over time, settles into her new, freed role. She becomes a Warden librarian, for lack of a better term, and finds herself. She still keeps a low profile in the worries that someone will find out what her brother did, but remains relatively at peace even as her Calling slowly creeps closer.

What happens if Wren isn't Rook/doesn't romance anyone?:

Well, Wren's a strong independent nonbinary who don't need no man, but she's also got the constitution of wet paper in a typhoon. So when she's not Rook, she participates in Weisshaupt. While she survives, the aftereffects of adding more blight to her system is what eventually does her in, much to Ghil's grief.

I like to think she becomes a spirit of Kindness or Joy. Or good ol' fashioned Wisdom.

Did the Templar father make it?:

If he did I'd make him kick it at Therinfal Redoubt. But no he doesn't. Wren still has his Templar cloak that he gave her, once. She's got mixed feelings on her father.

OCs that Wren knows: Ghil (duh), and Lana.

In the circumstances where she dies, Lana and Ghil pull a favor with Riesel to get her HoF father to accompany Wren to the Deep Roads, as he's her idol and an uncorrupted part of the Wardens. So technically, she meets Lithe Surana, my DA:O OC and canon HoF.

Kaarash-Taar (he/him)

Finally, a bulwark of maturity and a breath of fresh air in the Trauma Squad. I'm very excited to play Kaarash in a later playthrough. Because I've been focused on the Traumatized Three, I haven't given too much thought to him yet. Just basic sketches of ideas.

Specialization: Slayer, I think! Give me back Reaver, Bioware.

Romance: Neve. Honestly bc I'm a gay transman I almost never go for the female LIs, but Neve... she's cool as hell. I wanna see what she's like. Incidentally when I made Kaarash I forgot Neve belonged to the Shadow Dragons factions LMAO

Birthplace: he doesn't know! Most of his young life was spent at sea.

Backstory:

Kaarash-Taar is an orphan, picked up by an old Tal-Vashoth sailor nicknamed Beres.

Beres, who grew up under the Qun, did what any ex-beresaad would do - drag the kid onto his Captain's ship and teach him the ways of the world and the Qun.

Ironically, this happened to be Isabela's ship.

Beres was a part of Isabela's old crew, pre DA2 events. He heavily respected his captain, and expected the same of his adoptive son.

When Isabela's ship was wrecked in the reefs, Beres and his young son survived, being taken aboard a ship while adrift at sea.

This was seen as a miracle, until they learned it was a slaver's ship, and the two were supposed to be cargo.

That didn't go to plan. Years of work as Beresaad and then with Isabela made Beres a wickedly sharp warrior, and Kaarash was much the same way. They managed to corral the slaves, enact a plan to overthrow the slavers, and successfully executed it, taking over the ship.

For the first time, Beres was a captain, and for nearly ten years Kaarash stayed by his father's side.

Later, when it turned out Isabela was alive, Beres joined his crew to hers and went back under her captaincy. But by this point, Kaarash was a young adult and hotblooded, feeling the energy of the revolutions happening around him.

Around this time he separated from them, drifting from place to place, helping refugees and freeing slaves. Around this time, he met Riesel, a young elven woman with an impressive family legacy, and decided to travel together in search of like-minded people.

Eventually, they found it in the Shadow Dragons.

While Beres doesn't necessarily agree with his son's revolutionary actions (he thinks it'll get Kaarash killed), he reluctantly supports his son nonetheless. After all, Kaarash has proven time and time again to be a tactical leader, and as time passed on, cool-headed under pressure.

What if Kaarash doesn't become Rook/doesn't romance anyone?:

He's still fighting with the Shadow Dragons. Maybe he'll romance Hal or something, that guy's fried fish does seem like it's worth being a little gay for.

OCs he knows: Riesel, Lana. Technically he knows Ghil, but like. Distantly. They don't talk, really, but they get along well enough.

Riesel (she/they/doesn't care)

Riesel's actually the oldest in terms of how long she's been in my brain for! I made her back in 2018, when I played Dragon Age Origins for the first time. She was baby then. Now, like many of us who did the math and realized our Wardens' children are grown adults in Veilguard, she's a fully fleshed out OC.

She's also probably the only one I'm not going to do a playthrough for, because....well, maybe. Idk. We'll see.

Race: Elf (non-Dalish)

Faction: Shadow Dragons

Class: Rogue, stabby

Specialization: Duelist! It looks incredibly fun and fits her backstory.

Romance: If she absolutely had to romance someone from the party, it would be Davrin, I think. He's got his shit mostly....together.....and Emmrich's too old for her tastes.

Otherwise she'd romance, idk, the Viper or something. Or Tarquin AND the Viper, which would drive her father to an early Calling.

Birthplace: Amaranthine City. For those of you who played Dragon Age: Awakening, you know where this is going. Probably.

Backstory:

*cracks knuckles excitedly*

Riesel was born to two loving, wonderful elven parents doing their best in an arling that hates elves. Like most of Ferelden. And the rest of Thedas, unless you're Bioware and suddenly pretend that the racism from your last three games doesn't exist.

And then, her parents died in the assault on Amaranthine city.

She was left wandering the rubble, crying loudly and dragging along a stuffed nug, until some tall man in shiny armor came and picked her up and tried to help her locate her family.

And he did, but they were in less than stellar condition, so he said "I guess you're mine now" and swept her away.

His husband, the ex-Crow, was exasperated but too smitten with his new spouse to tell his darling Warden "no".

(but really, Zevran did actually want to take care of her as much as Lithe Surana did.)

And so the pair raised their little girl lovingly. Riesel grew up fluent in Orlesian and Antivan, learned to throw knives, and sneak around so that her fathers didn't know what she was getting into.

(They did, but only interrupted when it was actually dangerous.)

Over time she learned a few rules.

1. Never be a Crow, Marry a Crow, or Hire a Crow. Fuck them Crows.

2. No joining the Grey Wardens. There are no griffons, and it'll make your uncle Alistair really sad.

These truths were ingrained in Riesel, and eventually she grew up to be a relatively responsible and level-headed adult. Who wanted to be a Grey Warden, but wasn't allowed to, so she settled for the next best thing.

The Friends of Red Jenny. This is who she was with before she met her best friend Kaarash-Taar.

Together, they traveled together to try and help people while her dads were away trying to cure the Blight, and eventually the pair joined the Shadow Dragons together, remaining a bombastic dynamic duo.

What happens if she doesn't become Rook/doesn't romance anyone?:

Romance is dead, or will be shortly, if Zevran has anything to say about his precious baby's relationships. Also Riesel doesn't care. Regardless, she's off saving people with the Shadow Dragons and doing things that will definitely send her parents to an early grave.
