Calling fellow metalheads!
Since so far I've only mentioned it as a sidenote as a part of another post, I figured I'd make a separate one
Are you a metalhead? Do you like clicking boxes and/or talking about metal?
Behold:
It'd help a lot if you could answer this short survey (anonymous, 12 questions, mainly multiple choice) for my college research project
The survey will be open for at most two weeks. My project is due in early May so I need time to be able to actually write up my research.
Since my project is specifically about metal fans, I can't just send it out to my fellow college students and friends like other students have done, which is why I need y'all to help me out if you have a minute or two to spare
Thanks!

Do you like this metal song?
A gimmick blog inspired by @doyoulikethissong-poll, @doyoulikethis-videogame-song, @doyoulikethis-vocaloid-song and those alike.
Not familiar?
This blog will regularly post snippets of songs without any identifying information. Attached to the song will be a poll on which you can vote whether you like or dislike the song. Once the poll has concluded, the song will be revealed.
Tagging System
#activepolls : polls that are currently running
#closed : polls that have concluded
#results : results and song reveals
#notapoll : anything else
#suggestions : songs posted from suggestions
Genre tags are added to the best of my knowledge. If you know better, feel free to add a reply and I'll adjust accordingly.
Suggestions
You can suggestion any metal song but I'd appreciate if you roughly followed this format:
[artist] - [songname] [version, if applicable], [section, which you find most memorable, should be around 30-40sec]
Multiple songs per ask are allowed. I only know so many songs and to be honest, my taste is kind of limited. So this blog really lives off of suggestions.
Vote options
If you're not sure how to vote, this is a rough rule set you can go by:
Song title/Artist/Album comes to mind -> I have heard it before
Sound familiar, but can't pinpoint it - Never heard it before -> I haven't heard it before
Will go on my playlist once revealed/Already on my playlist-> I like it
Indifferent - Dislike it -> I don't like it
For more reasoning, read this ask.

The world is not ready for my antifascist eco-leftist reading of the Genesis Foxtrot album.

[Album of the day] Exist - Hijacking The Zeitgeist
Baltimore, MD || 2024 || Prosthetic Records
[Genres] prog death, djent
[Themes] Modern society and its ills; woe must surely follow the technological trappings of our generation. For the Blue Light Infinite casts false shadows within Plato's allegorical cave, the only solution to be the touching of fresh grass.
[FFO] Psychotic Waltz
[Thoughts] 2024.04.12 has been a great day for album releases! You won't find Exist on Metallum yet; they've waffeled on the discussion as past releases edged more towards prog rock/djent. Nevertheless, I really dig this release and expect to be spinning it again soon.*
The cover art really captures the feelings of the album, credit to Sebastian Jerke for continuously putting out amazing artwork. Check out his other album covers, fellow stoners may recognize some names such as My Sleeping Karma.

* Metaphorically; the speakers on my record player suck.

I'm serious, I can't even convey in words to someone who isn't already a fan of The Dear Hunter just how fucking amazing this song is, like just look at this:
This list from the TDH subreddit, which isn't even technically complete, attempts to outline every reprisal throughout all five albums, just open it up and see how many different songs have a reprisal in The March.
That isn't even to mention the fact that throughout all five of the Acts there are lyrics foreshadowing this very climax and tragic end that the song (and Act V as a whole) represents, which is completely transformative to the experience on repeat listens.
If you have a few hours, seriously listen through Acts I-V front to back and really pay attention to the composition and lyrics, then when The March comes on, just experience the complete musical catharsis and chills that I get every time I hear it without fail. It's worth it.
