What is Project LITE?
Origins
Project LITE is a concept created by our team amidst the COVID-19 issues. What started out as a concept for a mask to be worn during a livestream as part of a character (Which is still going to be done!) we eventually implemented furry design into a V2, and thus was born our character Lite.
We’ve since begun working with the code, materials, and even trying to lower the cost revolving around such a project. We’ve already gone through two previous designs that we determined were too bulky.
What Species is Lite?
While we're not releasing the name just yet (as it still might change!) Lite's design is based off a western dragon head, an angular face meant to end at a point with a smooth shape, perfect for sitting comfortably and lightly on a head, while being able to hold the electronics necessary.
Is this species open?
Not yet, but eventually! We want to finish our sketches, create a public base, and start work on a physical model. After all of that, you're welcome to create your own character. We'll even help!
If you're interested, we're seeking artists who might be willing to assist in 2D references. None of our team are extremely skilled in that area, as we are mostly 3D and IRL designers.
Can I help?
Yes! We're accepting help in most any form, as we've got a lot to do. If you have any skills in 2D Art, 3D Art, Reference creating, or if you have suggestions (or want to help in a way we might not think of) please come to us! We're open here through the ask us function, or you can communicate with us on Discord, directly to Spark, the team lead. Roxas1156#2924
If you have any questions, ask away. We're here to answer, just give us time as we may be designing, or social distancing

"Your relationship with language is your freedom." Jason Reynolds
“Your relationship with language is your freedom.” Jason Reynolds
“It took me a long time to understand how much literacy affected my life.”
Jason Reynolds
Please forgive the sound and editing quality of this video. I tried to add titles on some of the key moments of Jason Reynold’s ideas. He showed the students and staff pure love that day, pure truth, and I am forever grateful to Kristin Sierra for working for over two years to bring him to our area.

the year that wasn't (1) and what might be (2)
the year that wasn’t (1) and what might be (2)
I have a new gig, one I’m excited about. My feelings and response to the next phase are filled with gratitude. Closure, however, is healthy. Some of the things that happened this past year act as a wedge, preventing the door from fully closing.
The year began so positively:
What went wrong? (and what can go right)

okey! choose 4 of your mutuals and mencion 3 positive traits about them🥰 let's see how wonderful everyone is.
this is so sweet 🤍 sorry it took me so long to reply! i wrote a whole reply and then chrome crashed and i got frustrated!!
@thequeenosnes: cait is the older sister i never had 🤍 someone who is always there to hype me up, to give me advice & listen. cait always works so hard & is so passionate about all the things - whether it’s work or theatre or books or music, and i just love that about her! also, can we just talk about how talented she is & how many edits she was able to make for both projectlit and projectbway? iconic behavior.
@darlingston: jamie, literally the love of my life, just one of the sweetest and most compassionate and caring and supportive people i’ve ever known, who always checks in on me & makes sure i’m okay. someone who always chooses to be kind and positive even when things aren’t going well or aren’t easy and i just have so much admiration for them. not to mention, their talent !! 🪐
@august-landry: alie was my first friend here on litblr, and i’m forever grateful for her! she’s so incredibly kind and welcoming, the number one hype person, who is a master at gifs and graphics and typography. also she has wonderful taste in books & i just love her dearly 🤍
@adanscy: eloise!! eloise is just an actual angel. she’s such a talented writer, whether that’s about her poetry, fic, or her analysis of edits in tags. she’s so encouraging and sweet, and perceptive and just so so clever? i love seeing how her mind works & hearing her thoughts on things.

“If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention.” Heather Heyer
If you have been paying attention to media in the past few days, you are surely aware that a White supremacist rally was held in Charlottesville, VA which resulted in the death of Heather Heyer and state troopers Lt. H. Jay Cullen and Trooper Berke M. M. Bates. Along with these deaths were many injuries. Beyond that, there was a lot of fear and horror on the part of many as they participated in the counter-protests or watched what was happening from near and far. It wasn’t simply because it was happening, though that was horrifying, but the response from DT made it clear that he does not believe that any one side is more to blame than the other. In the face of White supremacy and Nazis, DT seems incapable of placing blame squarely on White supremacist shoulders. Again we saw a situation where people witnessing this were thinking, well surely now he’ll say something definitive, but no. There are White supremacists who see the outcomes of this event as a victory and are excited about DT’s weak response.
Many people I know are looking for specific things to do in order to counteract, resist, interrupt, and ultimately put an end to racism and it’s many forms. Events like these tend to flood people’s emotions and can overwhelm us or have us looking for positive actions we can do to make change. Here are some of the resources out there if you want to get out and do something. Some of you may need to also do something to care for yourself first. This has been emotionally draining for many, so there are also some self-care resources.
Action Steps Celeste Ng has you covered if you want very specific tasks. She continues to add other tasks on her twitter feed so it’s a good idea to follow her.

Series: White People Homework (24) Moving on
Series: White People Homework (24) Moving on
Tumblr media
I read another tweet from the founder of #ProjectLit, Jarred Amato, about The Scarlet Letter by Nathanial Hawthorne. In two occasions he’s used this text as his go-to for discussing how we should abandon old, irrelevant texts in our classrooms. And I get it, I really do. Post #22 speaks to the canon. But here is a another secret of upholding systemic racism in our schools, classrooms, and…
