scrapper and/or devastator for the character bingo? i really enjoy your thoughts on both of them!

Did you just ask about my favorite Constructicon (and, by proxy, my favorite TF character)? And did you just ask about my favorite combiner?

Also, going to be doing the rest of the Constructicons too since I was asked.

Any excuse to ramble, I guess.

Let's start with Scrapper boy because holy shiiiiit.

What can I even say without repeating myself? He's just THAT guy. An engineer, an artist, and a PSYCHO! Seriously, I am not reaching here; he fits into the "cultured psychopath" trope perfectly (think Hannibal Lecter). However, the thing that elevates Scrapper and gives his character a bit more texture is the fact that he is a truly modest and competent leader; unlike most generic psychos who get lost in their egos, Scrapper doesn't have that, nor does he have illusions of grandeur. He may be a true psycho and maniac, but that doesn't stop him from being a decent person, a good leader, and a model soldier. Perfect character.

Now I'll say, I'm very picky with Scrapper, and I'll say there's barely any people out there who truly get his character. What do I mean specifically? Well, some people either write him as a 100% remorseless and awful goon or a spineless soft leader who is just that nice... and maybe they gloss over the fact he puts BODY PARTS in his projects. Another crucial thing people miss is the fact that his modesty applies to his work, NOT TO HIS ART! HE LIKES TO GET PRAISED FOR HIS ART; IN FACT, HE RELISHES IN THAT PRAISE. He is an artist, after all; our food is compliments lmao.

Another take I see about him that is just... Uncalled for... Are people saying he's secretly insecure... I think you missed the point; go back to the drawing board. (Of course a character not being 100% confident all the fucking time is normal and healthy for your writing, but turning his modesty into some inferiority complex is... Questionable).

Either way, if they make a new TF show with Scrapper in it... They should contact me so I can write him.

I think I've made my case clear.

Devastator was a "love at first combination" thing. It must've been my already existing love for Bruce and The Hulk, but daaaaamn the way I gravitated toward this guy was surreal, to say the least.

The nature of him being a combiner makes it so I don't have much value to add outside of appreciation for aesthetics and baseless headcanons.

I'll say, I don't like when people write him as SUPER mature. He has to be either a dumb brute or a dumb kid, but I'm not so picky with him because, like... less than 10% of fics have him (one day I'll find myself bored enough to make an actual chart or something).

I also liked his scenes in ExRID #38 and I love how Andrew Griffith draws him (he makes Long Haul's truck bed the thighs 😍...)

Nobody understands him like I do. NOBODY! I have an almost spiritual connection to this fictional robot I'm so fr rn.

I'm not going to talk AT LENGTH here, because I'd rather dedicate one post just for him (in the distant future of an inspiration burst, that is).

Though I'll say the concept of a guy who is physically bound to a career he hates and wishes to do something else, wishes to be valued, and seeks excitement he doesn't currently have in his shitty existence, but still remains in the same career because he knows everything goes to shit without him...It's just a good fucking concept.

I'll forever thank Bleszinski for making him a logistician in IDW 2019. Good lord, what an improvement!

(If you squint, you can see why I pair him with Dirge, except I enjoy Dirge's suffering.)

I've made a whole post about Bonecrusher already, and that's that; it has all the reasons he's awesome and barely anyone gets him.

He's just so fucking awesome, and his design is awesome as well. I just like these stoic types that have anger issues and violent tendencies, go figure.

Uuuuh, BINGO!!!

I love him so much, but for some reason I barely talk about him?? And it isn't some personal gripe like it is with Scavvy, my opinions very much align with everyone else's opinion about him... Maybe that's it, and I don't feel there's much to add to him in the public discussion as there is with the others.

Either way, I love this crazy guy who melts people into his mixing drum and cackles like a maniac. What more do you want, really?

One thing that bugs me is when people overdue his craziness into soap opera schmuck without consideration for him as a person and his agency. A little ableist, innit? (not targeted, btw, it is kind of common).

Dunno, maybe he is "crazy" and maybe everyone else and him are ok with it; what if then, uh? Maybe this isn't some burden; what if, uh? I'm sure there are other things to explore with him; be so fr.

While the Bridges were blocked off with security checkpoints and armed guards, there were still other ways to reach his home again, especially when he knew the people he did. His father was a sea scrapper, and several of the Zaunite dock workers on both sides of the river knew him personally. He was like part of the found family. So, of course, it was no issue to sneak him across the water, even with his delicate and dangerous cargo.

A metal containment cylinder, thrumming with growing magic, held his most prized invention within. The Hexcore. It was created to be a proxy for casting spells – an artificial mage, of sorts. He had only just begun to understand it, himself, when his life fell to pieces. First, he found out he was dying, then he found out his best friend – his partner of eight years – wanted to create weaponry from the very technology they invented to save lives. The superheated argument with Jayce still rang clear in his mind as he watched the tug boat he was on pulling up to the docks of the undercity. No, not the undercity. Zaun.

The gentle bump of the boat coming into contact with the dock rocked him back and forth, and he stood to his feet with the aid of his crutch. He pulled the strap of the containment cylinder over his shoulder, and made his way off the boat with the help of a fellow passenger. He almost fell, but managed to catch himself.

A flicker of green light from under the nearby pier caught in his periphery. Curiosity carried him in its direction slowly, cautiously. He really shouldn’t have been making detours. He needed to get the Hexcore to Singed’s lab, where further study could be conducted on it, but then e saw a shifting shadow in the green light. When he got closer, he saw a young man with dark skin and white hair, dressed in clearly Zaunite fashion. He was clutching his leg, and looked to be in a fair degree of pain. From the scuffs and dirt, he assumed he’d been in some sort of explosion. Sympathy played out on his face, imagining the amount of pain the man had to be in.

Then, he was noticed.

At the young man’s words, he gulped back his awkwardness, then moved a few steps closer. “A kind face is a rare gift. I was taught to share it.” He though back to how his mother had raised him with the Zaunite culture of protecting and helping their own, and – well – now was precisely the time where those lessons kicked in. With the man’s request heard, he thought for a moment, then nodded his head. A detour it was, then.

His augmented leg felt numb and tingly, a sign of waning energy from the Hexcore, no doubt, but it still functioned better than it ever had. His crutch, while supportive, was ambulatory, and it was quite obvious that someone else needed it more for the time being. He thought it over, then pulled it out from under his arm and offered it out. “Use this. I’m afraid I cannot kneel to help you up, or I might be stuck down there with you.”

oh lovely!!! i didn’t expect anyone to be interested in this one :))

i will admit, it’s mostly my friend who’s into the mechanisms, and i just know some of the world lore by proxy. i DO plan to listen to more of their music soon :D

also, it might be a while till i post any of this, but i will move it up on my priorities !!

send me an au (either one of your choosing or one from this list!!) and i'll give you 5 headcanons

1. percy has one mechanism lung from being shot and killed. as a result, his breathing will hitch sometimes, and on occasion he’ll cough up smoke because of it. (it also means his breathing sounds unique, and vex likes to lay her head on his chest to listen to it. it calms her down.) vex has a mechanism heart, so percy also likes to lay his head on her chest as well to listen to it tick-tick away. (it also reminds him that she’s alive.)

2. scanlan has a mech throat, and as a result, his vocal chords are also mechanisms now. for awhile he was worried he wouldn’t be able to sing anymore, since he sounds different, but he’s actually learned to work with it, and sounds even more unique now.

3. keyleth has a mech spine - she died by falling from an extreme height, similar to the infamous keyfish moment. it causes her posture to be perpetually, well, better, and while sometimes that default shoulders-back posture makes her feel more confident, sometimes she feels stuck, and misses the way she could hunch over and feel hidden.

4. pike’s death will parallel how she was,, basically torn in half pre-stream?? and so the entire lower half of her body is a mechanism. and so whenever she walks, she goes clank-clank-clank like she does with her armor in canon :))

5. greyskull is the ship that vox machina flies around in, and it’s beat to hell and back. they’ve all worked to repair and maintain it. vex also has a small scrapper named trinket that she and vax (and percy, for a while) flew around in before meeting up with vox machina, and vex still keeps it around for solo flights or small trips. she is very attached

The weirdest thing is that a few months ago, Dove wouldn’t think that listening to kids running and playing would sound as sweet as it did.

A small chuckle escaped her as she sat on the steps leading into Dale’s RV. The horrified look on Glenn’s face as he stopped mid-greeting was just as amusing.

“Well. Good morning to you too, sunshine,” Dove squinted as she stood up and moved to stand next to him.

“When did they start tearing it apart,” Glenn frowned as he folded his arms in front of his chest.

Dove shrugged her shoulders, “’Bout a half an hour ago, I suppose.” She ran a hand through her dark hair as she turned her head slightly. Rick was finally awake again. Dove raised a hand to shield her eyes from the sun as she greeted the newcomer. “Mornin’, Rick!”

“Go on! Tear it apart, you vultures.” Glenn scowled and shook his head. Dove couldn’t keep herself from letting out a snort of laughter.

“Generators need every drop of fuel they can get,” Dale stated matter-of-factly as he walked past them.

“He has a fair point. I’d rather have a shower than a fancy car,” Dove mumbled quietly.

“I thought I’d get to drive it another few days,” Glenn sighed.

Dove turned her head slightly as Rick responded, “Maybe we’ll get to steal another one someday.”

This new way of living sure was a hell of a thing when you had a sheriff encouraging grand theft auto.

Dove placed a comforting hand on Glenn’s shoulder, “Maybe an even nicer one! One that’s not going to send an alarm running for miles next time too.” Glenn just let out an annoyed sigh.

Glenn seemed to be resigned to the fact that his car was being torn apart by Jim. Dove patted his shoulder again as she watched him step forward to converse with the other man. Knowing him, he was still probably trying to talk about what a cool car it was to anyone who would listen.

A revving engine caught the attention of a few members of the camp as Shane pulled up. He announced, “Make sure to boil the water before use.”

Carol made her way over to Dove. “Too bad about Glenn’s car, huh?”

The response caught in Dove’s throat as a shrill scream erupted from the woods close by, followed by another voice screaming “Mom!!”

A panicked look was exchanged between the sisters for a moment and then they were both off. Carol screamed for Sophia and the relief was obvious on Dove’s face as the little girl broke through the trees with Carl hot on her heels.

Tiny arms wrapped themselves around her waist as Dove knelt quickly to survey her niece for any marks. “Are you alright, Soph? Nothing bit you?” Sophia shook her head quickly, only able to muster up a panicked whimper. Carol finally broke through the trees behind her and let out a relieved cry as Sophia released her aunt with a cry of, “Mommy!!”

Dove glanced around quickly before she pointed back towards camp. “Take them back now! I’m just gonna make sure everything’s alright!” Carol nodded her head and scooped Sophia up.

Lori, however, eyed her warily for a moment before the brunette disappeared into the tree line again.

As she broke through the trees she held back a hysterical laugh. They were just stood around the damn thing, beating it with sticks. So much for being evolved past a caveman brain.

Amy let out a disgusted groan as the walkers head was finally chopped off.

Dale muttered, “That’s the first one we’ve had out here.”

Jim replied, “They must be running out of food in the city.”

Dove looked over at Amy and Andrea. Both of the sisters were just looking on like a couple of deer in the headlights and she couldn’t blame them. She felt a little nauseous herself.

Branches snapped in the woods and all conversation stopped. Andrea put a protective arm around Amy and Dove took a slow step forward towards the men. Curiosity was a bitch of a thing, but she wanted to see what exactly was going to happen.

Her heart leapt into her throat and plummeted back to her stomach as Daryl Dixon came into view. Her eyes locked with Jim’s in a moment of panic before she quickly looked down at her feet. Honestly, she would rather have a walker run out of the woods right now than have to face the inevitable.

Daryl looked pissed already. Definitely a good sign for them. “That was my deer. Look at it! All gnawed on by this filthy, disease ridden, motherless, proxy bastard!”

Dale shook his head in disgust, “Now come on, son. That’s not helping anyone.”

Daryl’s temper flared up again as he stepped quickly over the walker, headed right for Dale. Dove took a quick step closer to Rick as she eyed the officer, trying to communicate that this was not a good sign. “What do you know about it, old man? Why don’t you take that stupid hat and go back to ‘on golden pond’?”

A surprised laugh, which was able to be quickly covered up as a cough escaped Dove’s lips. Glenn elbowed her slightly in the side and narrowed his eyes once he had her attention. The woman merely shrugged as she turned her attention back to the dead animal. Her stomach did begin to rumble at the thought of venison, or anything other than squirrels for that matter. A sigh left her lips as Shane stated, “I wouldn’t risk that.”

Daryl’s focus drifted to her, almost asking for another opinion. Dove shrugged her shoulders before she slipped her hands into her back pockets, “As good as it sounds, it’s too risky. We got kids to think about and what if they eat tainted meat? Get sick?”

Daryl sighed and shook his head, “Damn shame. I got a few squirrels though. ‘Bout a dozen or so. That’ll have to do.” The calmness in the air broke as the walker head at her feet started snapping its jaw again. Dove let out a startled shriek and stumbled back into Glenn as Daryl shot an arrow into it’s brain. “Gotta be the brain. Don’t ya’ know nothin?”

The focus of the group shifted again as Daryl stalked off towards camp. Dale looked startled, “I don’t see this going well.”

Shane removed the hat from his head as the group started to walk, Dove started to take longer strides to keep up with the two officers. She heard Shane mention Daryl’s name and spoke up.

“I think you guys really need to think about doing this,” Dove spoke, concern in her voice. “I think you oughta try and break it to him as gently as possible. People like him tend to react violently, plus he seems pretty hyped up from losing that deer.”

The two men kept moving, but Rick glanced over his shoulder at her. “What’d you do before this?”

“I was a therapist. Getting ready to work on my PhD. Why?”

She didn’t miss the look the two men exchanged and fell back a step. Glenn flinched as he heard Daryl yell for Merle. “This is gonna be a shit show,” Glenn sighed.

Dove shook her head as Shane stopped Daryl in his tracks. “Poor guy. I got money on Dixon, though. He’s a scrapper.” She whispered so only Glenn could hear. Glenn let out a nervous chuckle as the two of them came to a stop next to the Jeep.

“There was a problem in Atlanta.” Seriously, Dove thought, he’s going to drag it out like this? What a mess.

“He dead?” Dove gripped Glenn’s wrist a little tighter than she meant to as she took a step closer to him.

“We’re not sure.”

“He either is or he ain’t!” Dove couldn’t really blame him for being so angry. She could only imagine how mad she would be if it were Carol on that roof. She would probably be trying to kick the ass of anyone she could find.

“No easy way to say this, so I’ll just say it,” Rick stated as he finally took a step forward. What a time to play good cop, bad cop.

Rick introduced himself, only to be met with, “Rick Grimes, you got somethin’ you wanna tell me?”

“Your brother was a danger to us all. So I handcuffed him on a roof, hooked him to a piece of metal,” Rick finished. Damn, she had to admire how he got right to the point about it. “He’s still there.”

Daryl started pacing like a caged animal. “Hold on. Let me process this. You’re saying you handcuffed my brother to a roof and you left him there?” Daryl shouted. Dove could feel her pulse quickening as a million and one ways that she was trained to de-escalate someone this angry ran through her head. None of them seemed to make any sense right now under the heat from the burning Atlanta sun.

The next few seconds were a blur. Daryl yelled, Dove let out a startled yelp as the squirrels flew towards her, she stepped back closer to Glenn, and just like that, Daryl was on the ground. T-Dog stepped forward, shouting something about a knife. Dove took a few slow steps forward, eyes wide as saucers as she watched Shane bring him down in a chokehold after a few swings of a knife.

“Chokeholds illegal,” Daryl managed to choke out.

Shane sounded too comfortable with it for Dove’s liking. “Yeah, well, file a complaint.” Dove argued with herself internally as she watched Daryl keep struggling to be let go.

Rick knelt in front of the other two men, clearly trying to calm the situation down. “I’d like to have a calm discussion on this topic.”

Dove scowled as she squatted down between the two officers. “Not to tell you how to do your job, but it’s awful hard to have a calm discussion with a man whose air supply is being cut off,” she finished through gritted teeth.

Rick glanced at her and nodded before he turned back to Daryl, “You think we can manage that?”

The two officers nodded at each other and Dove stood up quickly as Daryl finally got released. She watched for a moment, still in shock about what just happened, when she saw Daryl still trying to catch his breath as he pointed at Shane. Dove turned quickly and placed a hand on Shane’s arm. “Just back up, man. Rick’s got it. You don’t need to be bad cop right now,” she pushed him back gently before she walked past the other two men, joining Lori by the steps to the RV.

“You good,” the other woman asked, her eyes not leaving the scene in front of her.

“Yeah just adrenaline rush. I’m fine,” Dove nodded as she brushed her hair out of her eyes. She turned her head slightly and met Carol’s worried gaze through the window of the RV. Dove held her hand up and nodded her head.

“It’s not Rick’s fault,” T-Dog interjected and suddenly the focus was on him. “I had the key. I dropped it.”

Daryl snapped again, “You couldn’t pick it up?”

“Well, I dropped it in a drain.” Dove couldn’t help but roll her eyes at this. This just sounded worse and worse the more they tried to explain it to him. At least no one was dead yet.

Her heart sank as she folded her arms in front of her chest, her focus shifted with everyone else’s as the men moved slowly around camp. She knew that Daryl and his brother were close but, shit. She didn’t expect to see him cry for even a second. One of her hands flew up to cover her mouth as she looked down at her feet.

She wasn’t surprised when Daryl shouted. “Hell with all y’all. Just tell me where he is so’s I can go get em.”

What truly shocked her was Lori. The older woman spoke up from her spot by the door at this. “He’ll show you. Won’t you?” She almost insisted with just her words as she locked eyes with her husband.

Dove was torn between following Lori back into the RV or following after Rick as the conflict came to a close. She, instead, chose to check on Carol and Sophia. Her steps were quiet as she walked up the steps to the RV. Dove slid into the seat at the table opposite of her family and reached a hand out to stroke Sophia’s arm. “Hey, bug. You were real brave out there today,” Dove spoke softly as Sophia lifted her head from her mother’s arms.

Sophia sniffled and rubbed her eyes before she looked between the two sisters. “I was really scared,” the young girl whispered.

Dove smiled a little and nodded her head. “I was too, bug. But you did the right thing by runnin like that. Hell, I don’t think either of us knew you could run that fast!” Carol chuckled softly at this as she stroked the young girl’s hair.

“She’s right, Sophia. You kept yourself safe. That was the right thing to do.” Carol kissed the top of her daughter’s forehead before she whispered for her to do something that sounded a lot like ‘go check on Carl’.

Dove drummed her fingers on the table as her thoughts raced through her head. Carol’s voice finally pulled her out of her own head. “You want to go with them, don’t you.” Carol stated in a hushed voice.

Dove’s eyes shot up. Her hazel eyes widened a little bit as she felt color rush to her cheeks. “I…I was thinking about it.”

Carol clicked her tongue and shook her head. “I don’t want my sister out there dyin’ for someone like Merle Dixon.” Her voice didn’t raise above a whisper, though she didn’t sound pleased at all.

Dove rolled her eyes at this. “That’s not what I was thinking of!”

“Then what were you…”

Dove cut her older sister off as she reached out and took her hand, “What if that was me up there, huh? Or you? Would you want me to just leave you up there like that to die?” Dove hissed. “It’s the right thing to do, Carol. Merle or not, it’s the right thing to do.”

Carol’s eyes widened slightly as she took in her sister’s words and nodded her head slowly. “If that’s what you want to do, I can’t stop you. But I just want you to be careful. I don’t want to be explaining to Sophia why her aunt isn’t around anymore.”

A small smirk graced Dove’s face as she squeezed Carol’s hand gently. “Oh please. I’m always careful.”

It was Carol’s turn to roll her eyes as Dove rose from her seat, kissed her older sister on the top of her head, and descended the stairs out of the RV.

Dove looked around camp before spotting Daryl by the fire. She took a long deep breath in through her nose and out through her mouth before trudging forward. “Hey, you alright?” Dumb question.

“What kinda stupid question is that,” Daryl snapped at her.

Dove raised both her hands in front of her, a tired expression on her face. “Right. Guess I deserved that, it was pretty fucking stupid huh.”

Daryl just stared at her for a moment. He had the type of eyes that made her uneasy sometimes; eyes that could stare right into your soul if you’d let them. “What do you want?”

Dove let out a heavy sigh as she watched Carol approach her laundry station out of the corner of her eye. She stood up a little straighter and crossed her arms in front of her chest. “I wanna go with you and Rick. Try to bring back Merle. I figure the more people, the better. Plus, y’all might need someone to balance out all the testosterone in that car.”

Daryl stared at her again for a few seconds before scoffing at her. “Don’t need no one else out there, especially not you. Can you even shoot a gun?”

Dove grinded her teeth together as she nodded her head slowly. “Well, excuse me. I may not know how to shoot a gun but I am just as capable as Andrea and Jacqui and they go out into the city all the time! Give me a blunt object and I can take out any walker just as good as a gun, I bet.” Her hands were shaking as she unfolded her arms and shoved her hands in her pockets.

“Alright.” Daryl turned his attention from her.

Dove’s jaw almost dropped in shock as she stood still. “Excuse me?”

Daryl turned back to face her, eyes narrowed slightly. “You heard me, girl. You’re grown, you wanna go? Can’t stop ya. Just don’t expect to get your ass saved.”

“Oh don’t worry, I won’t,” a serene smile was on Dove’s face now.

Shane would definitely have to learn to hold his tongue if they were going to bring Merle back as he called Merle a “douchebag”.

Daryl pointed at the man, “Hey, you better watch what you say!”

Shane nodded his head all sincerely before uttering, “No no. Douchebag’s what I meant.”

Dove rolled her eyes and brought the palms of her hands up to rub her eyes, “Dear god what did I do to deserve this.”

Lori spoke up from her seat by what would be that night’s fire. “So what? You and Daryl, that’s your big plan?”

Carol eyed Dove for a moment before the group’s attention shifted to Glenn. “Oh come on!”

Rick spoke, “You know the way. You’ve been there before. In and out, no problem! You said so yourself.” He was right. Glenn wasn’t shy about telling everyone in the group how well he knew the city and he had dug his own grace.

“That’s just great. Now you’re gonna risk three men?” Shane scoffed.

T-Dog spoke up next, “Four.”

Daryl scoffed, “My day just gets better and better, don’t it?”

Dove rolled her eyes, “Might as well get this out of the way now and make it five.”

Dale glanced between them all and nodded his head. “That’s five.”

Shane shook his head and began to pace a little bit. “You’re putting every single one of us at risk. Just know that, Rick. C’mon. You saw that walker! It was here. It was in camp,” Shane lectured. “They come back, we need every able body we’ve got. We need em to protect camp.”

Rick nodded his head, “Sounds to me like what you need is more guns.”

Dove’s head was spinning. Sophia shuffled her feet as Dove walked over to them. She knelt in front of the girl, taking her hands in her as the others talked about the guns. “Now you listen to me, alright? I’m gonna be just fine! I promise. I always am. But I need you to promise me something too okay?”

Sophia nodded her head and listened intently. “I need you to look out for your mama until I get back, okay? Just make sure everything’s alright. Hold down the fort for me. Promise?” She released Sophia’s hands and held a pinky out to her.

Sophia locked her pinky with her aunt’s before she wrapped her arms around her neck in a hug. “Be safe.”

Dove kissed her niece on the forehead before standing up and brushing off her knees. “Be safe, Carol.” Dove hugged her sister tightly before she turned to see what was going on.

Dove lifted herself into the back of the van, her eyes were beginning to glaze over from boredom as she waited before she almost leapt out of her skin at the sound of a horn honking. From the driver’s seat, Glenn let out a startled shout as Daryl stepped on the horn again. “C’mon let’s go!”

Dove rubbed her temples and muttered to herself before placing a hand on the crowbar that she’d managed to sweet talk out of Jim. She would definitely have to make sure that she made it back now.

The young woman blew a kiss to her family as the door to the back of the van was slammed shut and they pulled away.

It was oddly silent on the way to the city. Dove positioned herself so she could see out the front windshield. “This is the first time I’ve left camp in the past two months.” She whispered to Glenn and Rick.

Rick turned his head, a sympathetic look on his face. “You might not want to look until we get there, then. Might be a bit of a shock. Trust me on that one.”

Dove took in the man’s words for a moment before she turned and faced the back of the van again.

Daryl finally spoke up for the first time since they started on the road. “He best be alright.”

T-Dog sighed. “The only thing that’s getting through that door is us. He’s fine.”

The van finally lurched to a stop and Glenn called back, “We walk from here.”

Dove groaned as she pulled herself to her feet and hopped out of the back of the van. “Oh shit, I’m getting old.” She mumbled to T-Dog as he hopped down next to her.

T-Dog shook his head at her. “You’re getting old? Just wait ‘til you hit 30.”

Dove laughed quietly as she took off down the train tracks after the rest of the group.

Rick paused as they stepped through a space in the gate that led from the tracks to the road. “Merle first or guns?”

Daryl snapped. “Merle! We ain’t even havin this conversation.”

Dove shook her head and motioned towards Daryl with her free hand, the other still tightly gripping the crowbar. “I’m with him on this. I mean a human life or ammo?”

Rick stared at both of them, clearly trying to keep his cool “We are having this conversation. You know the geography, it’s your call.” He turned to Glenn as the group began to walk.

“Merle’s closest. The guns would mean doubling back.” Glenn stated and Dove wasn’t sure if he was lying or not, but she was grateful for that nonetheless.

Her hazel eyes seemed to take in everything that had happened to Atlanta as they walked through the city. The city she had worked in and know so well was practically gone in a matter of weeks. It made her chest feel tight to see everything, but she knew she couldn’t stop moving.

She stepped lightly into the department store behind T-Dog and in front of Glenn as she went. She stopped, crowbar raised as a walker made it’s way through the aisles of the store. Daryl didn’t waste any time shooting the thing through the head.

Glenn moved forward and directed them to a staircase. It was a lot farther up than it looked, or maybe she was out of shape, but the steps were seeming to take their toll on her as they worked their way towards the roof.

The men reached the last landing as Dove rounded the corner just a few steps behind them. She took the last few steps slowly as she watched Daryl kick the door open after the chain was finally cut.

Something was wrong. Something was very, very wrong. She observed as she ran up the last few steps out onto the roof with the others. Merles Dixon was not a quiet man and he surely would’ve reacted to a door being kicked the fuck open.

Daryl’s screams for his brother turned into screams of panic. Dove’s heart dropped as she stepped out onto the roof behind Glenn and she saw it. A hand flew up to cover her mouth as she fought back the urge to vomit. Merle’s hand laid there on the ground next to a bloody hacksaw but Merle Dixon the man was gone.

Subtext, character arcs, and tragedy in IT Chapter 2

Y’know, I really appreciate the positivity in the Reddie fandom right now when it comes to the likelihood of Eddie reciprocating Richie’s feelings. There IS evidence to suggest he felt the same way in the movies, but like... I gotta be bitter, because it wasn’t enough.

After a long-ass conversation with @skinks about this very bullshit, I tried to make it more meta-ish because I’m still pissed.

(Everything else below the cut because this is long and spoileriffic)

It baffles me that the creators of the film were able to look at the book and see Richie’s queer-coding, but somehow didn’t catch Eddie’s. That they saw the subtext suggesting Richie had feelings for Eddie, but missed the all the subtext suggesting that Eddie returned those feelings. Or, that they DID pick up on all of that, but chose to cut it because... why? I genuinely don’t understand why.

Eddie’s arc in Chapter 2 only makes sense when divorced from the rest of the text - not just the rest of Chapter 2, but from the book and from Chapter 1 as well. Book!Eddie was repressed, but not cowardly. His inner conflict revolved around his fear of himself, that there was something rotten and diseased in him, which was only exacerbated by his mother’s Munchhausen-by-proxy. But he was always ready to go all-out for his friends, and he did. The thing that got him in the end was a shaky belief in himself and his own power, not an inability to act despite his fear.

And Chapter 1!Eddie was a scrapper. He was still afraid of disease, etc., but he was always ready to fight, to help, to throw the fuck down to protect himself and his friends.

Who the fuck is Eddie in Chapter 2? You could argue that because he forgot who he was with the Losers, he buried the brave part of himself, but no, they go out of their way to show that he was always like this, the cowardice thing goes back to when he was a kid. Like, where the hell did that come from?

It makes sense as a self-contained thing, if you look at it as the writer/director trying to make his death feel like the conclusion of a character arc, rather than an abrupt tragedy as it was in the book & miniseries. I think that was what happened, honestly. But in the context of the wider text, it doesn’t fucking work. That wasn’t the Eddie King wrote and it wasn’t the Eddie they wrote in Chapter 1. Moreover, considering Eddie’s queer-coding and the tension between him and Richie... why choose that as your arc?

If you’re going to go all-out and canonize Richie being queer and having feelings for Eddie... why stop there? Why leave Eddie’s reciprocal feelings as subtext? Why not expand on what you already had, i.e. Eddie’s fear of disease - make it clear that it’s a metaphor for his fear of being broken/rotten/wrong inside, make it clear what that metaphor implies? Have him realize by the end that he’s not broken, there’s nothing wrong with him, that he’s loved, he’s IN love, and he’s willing to fight to keep it?

Hell, to be perfectly honest, I’ve never liked Eddie’s death, either as a fan of his character or narratively. As I said, it’s abrupt in the book and miniseries - it makes sense for his character, but only because his character is pretty static throughout the story. He lives repressed and miserable and dies repressed and miserable, only ever getting to glimpse who he might’ve been otherwise. Eddie is a rich, wonderful character, but a tragic one with no real arc. Some people like that, but I personally hate it.

I appreciate Muschietti & co. trying to give him an arc, but I just... wish that they had done so by expanding on who he was in the text, or the version of him that they wrote. I wish they had given him a storyline that made sense for the character, rather than re-writing his character to make sense with the ending. They already changed a LOT for this adaptation, why not change that?

And like, ultimately, canonizing Richie’s feelings and having Eddie die is just... hopeless. It doesn’t gel with the story’s overall theme of love overcoming hatred, fear, and bigotry. It works if Eddie’s story is meant to be a tragedy through-and-through, the story of a queer man who could never bring himself to admit and be happy with who he was - you get the idea that if he had been, he might’ve lived. It’s upsetting, but it works. But if his story is one of overcoming his cowardice, then that element is lost - his death is sad, but he died bravely, so his arc (as per Chapter 2) is complete. Because of this, suddenly the tragedy of his death is all about Richie losing the love of his life, in direct parallel to Adrian’s boyfriend Don, who lost his. But if that’s the story, then what are we meant to get from it? Being out didn’t save Don from heartbreak, and being closeted didn’t save Richie. And because Eddie’s queerness and feelings for Richie remain all subtext (and let’s be honest guys, it’s pretty meager subtext compared to what we get in the book & even the miniseries), we don’t even know whether Richie had a shot at happiness with him in the first place! If Eddie had lived, we don’t know that he and Richie would’ve been together. We don’t even know whether Eddie would’ve been hypothetically interested. He’s completely decentralized from his own story, because at the end of the day, what Eddie wanted and what Eddie felt for Richie isn’t treated like it matters. His death is about Richie’s grief and Richie being alone - out or on his way out of the closet, perhaps, but lonely and bereaved. It has nothing to do with Eddie anymore, and it’s hopeless and dissatisfying through-and-through.

Normally I’m iffy on characters being spared or killed in adaptations, when that’s not what happened to them in the source material. It can work, but usually I feel like it weakens the story. In this case, I think that saving Eddie would’ve strengthened the story. But if saving him wasn’t in the cards, the least - the very least - they could’ve done was give him a better arc, and canonize his coding the way they did for Richie. Without that, his story falls so, so tragically flat.

...okay so this is VERY self-indulgent, but I’ve been kicking around this fic idea since literally around 2008, this fic idea is in middle school at this point, where 2007-movieverse Constructicons minus Bonecrusher who is dead and also a deus ex machina (the Constructions as I envision them, details ganked from other iterations of canon as I saw fit) ended up with a human inserted into their gestalt bond and decide to keep her. I started actually writing in November 2016, as a No-Shame November challenge, and I’ve been working on it again recently. I’m at around 25k words, and look, I love this fic, so I’m going to talk about it, I’m sorry.

3. If they complimented each other, what would they say? Well, Hook is all about competency. For him to say something’s sufficient is effusive praise. ...God, none of these people are verbally affectionate to any significant degree. Scavenger is the most obviously affectionate, but he’s (I’m getting ahead of myself) hardcore a gift-giver. I think Bran (OC) thanking them for things is a compliment - an acknowledgement of what they’ve done for her. Mixmaster has moments of sweetness.

6. What is/are their love languages? Well, we’ve been over Scavenger already, but. Gifts. Acts of service and gift giving, which go hand-in-hand for him. Hook is probably, ironically, words of praise, he likes to do well/succeed/excel. Mixmaster is a mix of quality time/physical touch, and Long Haul is probably the same. Physical touch is big for all of them, really, you can’t combine your form into one giant monster being without being big on the touchy-feely thing. And Scrapper is acts of service/being a manipulative mastermind in your favor. For Bran - being shown appreciation and respect in any form is the way to her heart. For giving affection, it’s acts of service/quality time/physical touch.

17. What senses remind them of each other? So tasting things the way humans do is not a thing I think movieverse Transformers do? It’s way more immediate and visceral and physical for humans, so, tasting anything is always done with Bran as a proxy, and uniquely associated with her side of the gestalt bond. For Bran, being in a moving vehicle, especially one of them, is the ultimate physical sensation of safety/comfort/love - the noise of the rumbling highway, the vibrations through the metal, the dim light and surrounding living machinery. The ‘Cons are all very aware of Bran when she’s physically on them, both because they like the way she feels against them and because things could go very wrong if they weren’t. She likes the smell of Cybertronian engines running hot, and they all love the way the others feel in their heads, through the gestalt bond.

...This is probably nothing like what you wanted or expected.

Over the past few months automating on Instagram using third-party tools has increasingly become difficult and expensive. We’re not able to perform half the actions we used to before the updates that began in June last year.

I’ve been using Jarvee to automated my social media activities across different platforms including Instagram. However, as Instagram became tougher as well as costlier to automate on, I’ve found myself shifting focus to the other platforms particularly Twitter, Pinterest, and Quora.

I’ve shared some of my Jarvee Twitter settings on this blog, so, check them out if you’re doing more than just Instagram.

I got back to automating Instagram on Jarvee and it’s been a couple of weeks now. I’ve seen some great results as well as disappointments in equal measure.

I figured it would be wise if I started a blog post that I’d update frequently and share what’s working for me so that we can exchange ideas right here in the comments.

It’s important that I should mention that most of what I may be sharing are not my original ideas but bits and pieces of information that will sometimes come from smart individuals on the same journey as the rest of us. I’m a member of several groups dedicated to automating Instagram on Jarvee, so, there’ll be plenty of tips I’ll be sharing here for further discussion.

Related: Does Instagram notify when you screenshot a story? Same strategies working for others My own Jarvee Instagram settings To start us off, I think it’s important to mention some basic steps you must always take if you’re running your Instagram on Jarvee:

Always make a point to have a few scrapper accounts to do all the scrapping so that your main/clients’ accounts are not seen to perform too many activities. Make few to none API calls. The embedded browser should be your best friend and all your. You’ll get fewer blocks when you use the embedded browser. Mobile proxies are key nowadays. I’ve tried all sorts of proxies and none except virgin 4G proxies work. I’m currently using 4G proxies from Airproxy and I’m running 3-5 accounts per proxy. The comments function seems to result in blocks so I avoid using that. When you get blocks it’s best to allow your account to rest. A minimum of 24hrs is recommended but I usually allow mine to sit for up to 4 days. I keep my follows between 120-150/day. I know a lot of people who do up to 200 but I prefer to keep things running moderately. Always remember to randomize your activities at all times. Obviously I haven’t shared screenshots of my exact settings. The problem with doing so is that you’re going to have too many people copying the very same settings to which Instagram is easily going to catch up on.

Update 5/1/2020 Jarvee Instagram Settings In this update on the best Jarvee Instagram settings, I’d like to show you how you can quickly set up your scrapper accounts to do all the scrapping for ALL your Instagram accounts.

With this method, you won’t need to change your scrapper accounts’ settings or add new scrapper accounts.

Setting up your scrapper accounts on Jarvee for all your Instagram accounts Here’s how to go about it:

First, we’re going to give all our scrapping accounts a tag. The tag ‘ SLAVE ‘ will do just fine for this example. Just make sure to tag all your scrapping accounts with the same tag. Now go to Settings -> Social Profiles -> Instagram on Jarvee and make your settings look like what’s shown on the following image: By doing so, Jarvee will use only Instagram accounts labeled ‘SLAVE’ to do all the scrapping of data.

This will ensure you don’t overuse any particular scrapping account as Jarvee will attempt to use all your slave accounts evenly.

With this method, you’ll also be able to see the follow-back ratio.

Here’s how to keep your scrapping accounts from getting blocked On each scrapping account, go to advanced profile settings and copy the following settings:

HOMEWORLD / PLANET: Cinixia is one of many moons circling the motherworld of the glamorous Aivu. With almost no natural resources of its own, it maintains an undesirable dusty and hazy climate. Most notably, is has a poor reputation that far precedes its punitive size, reknowned for being the sleazy, dirtbag satellite where technical junk and has-beens gets shipped from homeworld.

Aivu, on the other hand, is a popular celebrity destination in the small Alleyah solar system. Renowned for the exoticism of its services and cutting edge technology, Aivu certainly revels in its success, and has a highly exclusive clientele. Fine dining, gambling and slave trading are among some of the most popular pastimes on Aivu, where certain species or pets can be bought for small fortunes. Among the many high powered corporations that call it home, Synthenix stands out for their highly customisable options for android and cyborg wares. They primarily create aesthetic and cosmetic upgrades for multiple species, but are best known for their extensive choice of androids. These often find their way into the trading rings for being convincing replicas or even upgraded versions of some of the most popular species for sale.

If you fall out of favour in the high-powered rings of celebrities, it’s not uncommon to disappear and reappear somewhere much less glamorous… Say, in the bootleg fighting arenas of Cinixia. Cinixians make the most of it in the scrap-heaps — a good bet and a good bot could be your ticket off this shithole.

It’s no secret that the higher denizens of Aivu occasionally tune into the illegal fighting rings popular on Cinixia amongst the scrapper community. Some even deign to visit or watch it remotely if they enjoy betting on the matches. Bots and betting are the lifeblood of the moon; without it, they’d simply be a galactic dumping ground.

SPECIES: BETS1E has been loaded into the skinned shell of an early Titani-2 Synthenix Corporation Android model. Originally built with functionality in mind, these androids are supposed to be a one-stop shop for household and factory service. You want a efficient worker, manual laborer, assistant or guard who doesn’t talk back? All of the above? Synthenix has you covered.

Considering that this model was one of the earliest ranges Synthenix introduced to the public, customisability and expansive personality modules came second to their durability and usefulness. They were built to be sturdy, a little stocky, and convincingly realistic at a glance. Looking closer, their muted range of emotes and novel voice-box technology is now janky and outdated by modern android standards. With enough mods, these Titani-2 bots could provide a pricy and pointless alternative to new, competitively priced models from Synthenix.

Like all SynthTech ranges, the user is never without control — all Synthenix androids have a built-in panic button and reset systems in case a machine ever goes rogue, or attempts to rebel. Synthenix machines should be anything you want them to be, but never upset the power balance between organic creatures and what they were designed to be. There’s a lot of failed models and janky tests to get to that point of perfection and balance though… The scraps all get shunted off to Cinixia. It was only a few shipments at first, before it got out of hand, and an entire galactic community formed around the buffet table of tech junk. Critters come from all over to get a shot at building a masterpiece from the heap, or even upgrading their own builds from the lucrative trash.

BETS1E is one of the bodies that rose from that trash pile. Lacking any of her original SynthSkin(tm) that was supposed to give Synthenix models their supple, artificially soft finish, BETS1E’s frame reveals the bare metal skeleton underneath, with plenty of illegal mods to fit her preferred aesthetic. She has a broken voice box, which she continues to elect not to fix. She also has a limited range of nuance in her facial expressions without the SynthSkin covering, but she likes it like this. Broken feels normal. Broken feels right.

How to obtain these results? Target your automation! Every client has a specific niche and you must study this before you start scraping. You must consider:

The location of your client account (for example if this is a restaurant or a business activity based in a city) Competitors: if they have great engagement and popularity maybe you can scrape users from these accounts Campaign: similar accounts or competitors often create advertising and you can scrape data and users from specific ads post. Why? Find interested people without spending money Similar accounts: if a user is interested in an account that has the same niche, maybe you can scrape followers from them Now another important point: using filters inside scraper accounts is important because it helps you to clean the scraping. For example, if you have a list of names you can collect 250/300 Instagram usernames and clean the results using additional filters.

The goal is QUALITY, not quantity. Which do you prefer? 100 ghost followers or 50 real users, that interact with your posts, see your stories, and are in target with your profile? The answer is too easy!

So, Jarvee Instagram automation starts from scraping. Your client accounts must only do a static, specific operation (follow, like, story viewer) on a clean list of users that are attracted to your profile!
