Pseudo from Clash: Artifacts of Chaos
Pseudo has a Ryu Number of 4.
(explanation below)
Yes, I'm counting this boulder specifically as a character. Not just because you directly control the boulder in the Rock of Ages games and the crossover mode in Zeno Clash 2, but because that's really the only reasonable conclusion you can draw from this:

I found it fascinating that striders were/are based on tardigrades conceptually I love how that adds a slight twinge of weirdness to their already strange design
Obligatory Strider design ranking:
(top to bottom: first/"Tardigrade", final version, second/"transitional", third/"mini-Ghast" with spikes, third/"mini-Ghast" without spikes)
Also while making this post I realised that A. Striders kinda look like Pseudo from Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, and B. the tardigrade-looking one kinda looks like it has a similar palette to, if not the same palette as, Netherite? Which is neat. Also the "first"/"second"/"third" thing is based on how the images are ordered on the wiki.

Honestly, I really hope any future Zeno Clash games follow an anthology format, like everyone's journies are pretty much over by the end of ZC2 and there isn't really anywhere that Pseudo's story can really go after Artifacts Of Chaos's ending.
(more spoilery reason below)
Also like. Chile is a big country and presumably Zenozoik is meant to cover the entire thing, so if the developers wanted to show any locations further to the east or south, it wouldn't make much sense for characters to get there using the setting's medieval-level technology (unless Kax-Teh was correct and the next generation of Golems will arrive in the near future).

Clash: Artifacts of Chaos
Pseudo is a formidable warrior. Despite his outer stoicism, he is haunted by his memories and chooses to live apart from civilization. This quiet existence is upheaved when he meets a small orphaned creature whose incredible healing powers have attracted the attention of Gemini, the terrible mistress of the Artifacts. Clash Artifacts Of Chaos Review (Xbox Series S)

For our Clash Artifacts Of Chaos Review, Hunted by an enemy with untold power, a fighter and the creature under his protection begin a perilous quest to the edges of strange lands. You play as Pseudo, a master of martial arts who lives as a recluse in the strange land of Zenozoik. When you cross paths with the Boy, a small creature whose mysterious powers have attracted the attention of Gemini, the Mistress of the Artifacts, you decide to protect him, unaware that much greater forces are involved.
Clash Artifacts Of Chaos Review Pros:
- Decent cel-shaded graphics. - 12GB download size. - 1000 Gamerscore. - Action adventure gameplay. - Gameplay settings - field of view slider, a field of view slider for first person view, Invert axis and sensitivity sliders, subtitle font size, team colors, and subtitles. - Rendering settings - style set to Clash (color) or black and white, lime size, line distortion, reduce effects, and animate lines. - Controller settings - Four presets. - 3 save slots. - Three combat stances - lightning, boxing, and Spear. - The opening combat tutorial section allows you to try and decide on your preferred combat stance. - Third-person perspective. - Tutorial pop-ups as you play. - Directional dodging. - Seamless transition between gameplay and in-game cutscenes. - Day and night cycle you control with a tent. - During the day you play as Pseudo and at night you play as Pseudo imaginary form. - The cauldron is where you craft/brew potions like health. - Health canisters refill when you sleep and will put in water, this will heal you but not as much if you were to brew water into a potion. - The training dummy is where you go to level up and improve your stats, set special attacks, and change your combat stance. - Combat feels weighty and impactful with lock-on and guarding easy to pull off. - Stamina-based system for blocking and running. - The ritual is a strategy chance mini-game that grants the winner use of an artifact for the fight afterward. - At any point, you can challenge an intelligent creature to a ritual but they can also challenge you. - Collect dice and shakers to improve your ritual victory chances. - Its a game that grows with you over time. - Charge up an attack where you grab the enemy, go into first person, and do rapid punches to then finish up with a throw or slam. - You can see the enemy's health bar. - Collect materials and animals from the environment and as drops from fallen enemies. - When you die you respawn as your imaginary form and must retrieve your real body, a beam of light shoots up into the sky to help. - Open world. - You can kind of do as you want because it's a very wide open active world. - Game over is triggered when you die as your imaginary form. - A fascinating world to explore. - The creatures and inhabitants are unique and somewhat intriguing. - Has strong Absolver vibes especially in terms of learning and creating your own fight style. - Totems in the world trigger a set-piece fight where you learn a new attack or stance. Afterward, Totems become a place to level up. Clash Artifacts Of Chaos Review Cons: - Cannot rebind controls. - Slight performance hiccups such as slowdown and tearing. - Jumping is directed ahead instead of up in the air. - Combat gets bad at times like your punches are delayed, and your character doesn't move or rotate as fast as he should be able to. - Dodging is a nightmare, especially the timing of it. - The tutorial pops ups lag behind what's actually happening. - So hard to see what you can and cannot pick up. - No matter the field of view slider, you always feel too close. - Invisible walls. - You don't get much help with guidance. - The game doesn't use a clear picture of how strong an enemy is so you have to die repeatedly. - You don't get told or any sort of notifications of what a totem fight victory grants. - Constant difficulty spikes. - Found the tutorial to be quite lacking. - Any combat scenario with multiple enemies is a mashy mess of luck and frustration. - Not the best for achievements as they require so much work and game time. - Hot detection is not great. i am angry about clash: artifacts of chaos. it is not a game for zeno clash fans. anyone who says zeno clash fans will love this game is either lying or mistaken. it is a game for dark souls fans.
the combat in zc 1 and 2 was perfect and unique. every punch and combo was smooth and satisfying and immersive, serving to really sell the brutality of the world. everyone was a fist-fightin’ caveman mutant dude, including you. they threw it out for punch and dodge, punch and dodge, punch and dodge (and made the 1st-person view a freakin cameo; its mostly 3rd-person). they added all these dumb mechanics like the artifact minigame and convoluted levelling and limited saves to make the game appeal to normies and streamers. the lore has changed so much and this is not the zenozoik i remember. since when were artifacts a thing? since when are there multiple father-mothers (especially egregious, this one; father-mother’s entire character arc stemmed from being the only one of his kind and not being able to deal with it, so idk if this is a prequel or a sequel but either way THIS BREAKS CANON and considering how careful they were with continuity between zc 1 and 2 THIS ANNOYS ME SO MUCH) they’re literally doing the “hey, remember nostalgic thing? we do too, but we don’t understand it, so here’s the theme park version!” sort of thing that everyone hates. also changing the fundamentals to chase trends, that’s happening too. but this time, everyone is gulping it down like its amazing.
that said, pseudo IS fantastic. weird lookin’ guy, but has a very attractive and charismatic personality. character design and visuals in general are great, as always. emotional tie of the boy and pseudo bonding is very good. just wish all of this was in an actual zeno clash 3 instead of whatever the heck this game is.
#clash of the zenos#right on the heels of eternal cylinder too#now that was a fantastic game#just play zeno clash 1 and 2 again#heck play abyss odyssey again the combat was better in that than this

Ok but if Pseudo from Clash: Artifacts of Chaos* was dark-grey with purple eyes, he'd kinda look like an Enderman. Right?
*technical body-horror warning just in case, though there's nothing too horrifying.

NEW GAME + UPDATE & USER REVIEWS TRAILER FOR CLASH: ARTIFACTS OF CHAOS
We have been overwhelmed by the love and support you have given us since we released Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. A simple thanks did not seem nearly enough, so we prepared several surprises for you to enjoy!
NEW GAME PLUS
You asked for it, here it is: the New Game Plus mode. Once the game is finished, you will be able to start again with the upgrades you already got and face tougher, higher-level opponents. This mode also includes exclusive content: a new war paint for Pseudo, new hats for the Boy and a new set of armor for Pseudo to be found in-game. Will you take on the challenge?
FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS
This new update incorporates various fixes and improvements to the gameplay experience:
• Quality of life - At night, the location of Dark Bosses (optional end-game challenges) is displayed on the world map • Quality of life - Next objectives displayed after beating the Director, as some players told us they were getting lost at this stage • Options - On first launch, the game now asks the player to set the main parameters: animated or static textures, world loading by streaming or by zones. • Cinematics - New Boy kidnapping cinematics • New technology: the advanced NVIDIA Ansel screen capture tool • Various bug fixes
A TRAILER TO THANK ALL OF YOU
A 95% Steam user score is no small feat and we are deeply grateful to all players that took the time to write a review of Clash. We hope you enjoy this trailer made in fashion of a traditional Accolades Trailer, but with players reviews instead!
Our special thanks to Ross, SgtLemon1, Throkgaar, Moffein, Dread Guacamole, Eternal Optimist, Magnus, Fox with a cap, ImperialPanda and cronkin tompler who were kind enough to agree on having their review featured in the trailer. We would also like to thank Nogueh, Cahalit, strenkth, and all others that agreed to participate but that we could not integrate in the end: your reviews were a joy to read and we are thankful from the bottom of our heart.
Our thanks too to all the players of Clash for taking on this incredible journey with Pseudo and the Boy across Zenozoik. We hope you had as much as a blast than us!
Feel free to follow us on Twitter, join our Discord or go in the Steam discussions board if you’d like to keep up with all future news and share your thoughts with us – we would love to hear them.
- The Clash: Artifacts of Chaos Team
