Headcanons/fun facts for the Iron Eclipse cast vol. 5
Besides engaging in hobbies and other relaxing activities, what does the Iron Eclipse cast do to calm down?
Marco: He either works on his latest software project or finds a secluded spot in nature to admire its beauty. Once he finds the perfect spot, he reflects on happier times, looks at the old photograph he still carries with him, and contemplates what his father would do in a difficult situation.
Tarma: He either hugs the people he cares about the most or lets his mind wander to his unique interests and feelings about loved ones to distract himself from frustration.
Eri, Doctor Amadeus, Heidern, President Marx, Midori, Hilde Garn, Pocke, Celaphios, Torquil, Harvie, Amilcare, and Yohanes: They have no relaxation techniques worth noting
Fio: She either bakes simple treats, fiddles with Peppino, hangs out with Tarma or practices breathing exercises.
Trevor: He either smokes cannabis and chews on a couple of edibles, quietly admires his knives or listens to the Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: The Tides of Time soundtracks. He occasionally listens to K-pop music that he finds humorously cheesy, which makes him laugh and serves as a distraction from his frustrations.
Nadia: She either makes detailed shopping lists, thinks about food or draws adorable, stylised animal doodles in her sketchbook.
Ralf: He either goes to the bar with friends and gets intoxicated, enthusiastically discusses his favourite action movies and anime shows with Clark or practices his close-quarters combat skills on trees. He occasionally watches baseball games and plays with the local children before telling them fun stories.
Clark: He either goes fishing to catch and release fish, looks through his photo album or cuddles and plays with his cats. He rarely plays rugby and sometimes gazes at the magnolia he carries, reminiscing about the good times he shared with comrades he lost in battle.
Tequila: He either reads apocryphal biblical texts, frequents nearly empty churches to pray or looks at the photographs he carries on his person and in his Polaroid camera.
Gimlet: He either looks at pornography magazines and admires the beauty of women or engages in intense physical release by punching and ripping pillows. Occasionally, he has insightful conversations with his adopted father and prays to God when alone. Rarely, he collects seashells to give to others and whistles random tunes while skipping rocks or daydreaming about Sagan and Alisa.
Red Eye: As Ruoxi, she has no relaxation techniques worth noting. As Shufen, besides playing her banhu, she either mumbles Buddhist mantras, shares herbal teas with loved ones or studies neuropsychology. As Liddy, she either attempts to recall birds she's seen, reminisces about amusing life moments or enjoys luxurious shopping and dining experiences.
General Morden: He either spends time with his exotic pets, plays the piano, checks in on his soldiers or retreats to his office to read classical literature and enjoy a couple of glasses of Scotch whisky. Additionally, he dedicates considerable focus to developing meticulous plans alongside Sagan, Logan, and Allen O'Neil.
Allen O’Neil: He either reminisces about the good times with his family and General Morden, lifts weights or plays simple board games while engaging in humorous banter with Sagan.
Ptolemaios: He enjoys meditating in dark places and carefully observing the rituals of his cult and current world events.
Rootmars: She either immerses herself in conducting scientific experiments on abducted livestock or visits remote, unoccupied places on Earth to admire the untouched natural beauty.
Invader King: He either sleeps in his cocoon and stops asexually reproducing for an entire day or eats the regurgitated larvae that he biologically produces.
Walter: He either plays his keytar, smokes from his bong, spends quality time with friends or snuggles with Tyra.
Tyra: She either plays with Angelica, counts the clouds in the sky until she loses track or plays with her hair. Additionally, she enjoys listening to song recommendations from Walter and Trevor.
Hyakutaro: He likes to study the history of martial arts and spend quality time with his twin brother and three cousins.
Allen Jr.: He enjoys creating music with Walter and calling Julia to catch up and discuss various topics.
Pupipi: She often studies the complex anatomy and psychology of humans and wildlife. She also enjoys taking leisurely hour-long strolls through forests and mountains.
Sophia: She either checks in on Marco to see how he's doing or researches various seafood dishes and cooking methods.
Margaret: She either flirts with cadets and new recruits, discusses her gardening ventures with Tequila or goes shopping for more orchid seeds.
Rumi: She either goes for a light jog with Madoka at the local park or reminisces about the good times she had with her older sister and her late friends, Chris and Alexander.
Madoka: She either studies the field of medicine, does cardio exercises or thinks about the different ways she can kill a person with a bazooka.
Leona: She likes to check in on Roberto to discuss various subjects and see how he's doing. She occasionally goes stargazing with Marco or bar hopping with Ralf and Clark.
Alisa Stewart: She either gently caresses her trusty wrench, gazes up at the sky to admire its beauty or gathers inspiration for her latest engineering projects.
Nathalie Neo: She often chats with Ralf about random things and enjoys a couple of drinks with him as a way to take her mind off her current frustrations. She also practices her aim by shooting paradummies borrowed by Walter or at trees and rocks during solo walks in the forest.
Roberto Nicola: He often gives himself motivational speeches to calm down and get something done, even if they sound corny. When he needs comfort, he turns to Fio and enjoys sharing a couple of her sweets and a cup of iced tea with her.
Avatar of Evil: They either devour the emotions of people they deem the most evil and annoying or hum melodious tunes while silently observing the current events of the universe.
Sol Dae Rokker: He either burns bushes, meticulously counts every stone used to build the Oro Sol Ruins until he loses interest or playfully drops a snake on his followers from the sky to see their reactions.
MS-Alice: She either likes to rewatch the best memories she has experienced since Marco brought her to life or listens to Nadia's ramblings about fashion, forensic science, piloting, and art. Occasionally, she enjoys pondering the meaning of existence with Wysteria and Celaphios.
Nayutaro: He either practices progressive muscle relaxation or studies and masters new martial arts and ninjutsu techniques.
Issenmantaro: He either flexes the muscles in his hands and fingers, braids his cousins' hair or practices new martial arts techniques with Hyakutaro.
Nanahyakumantaro: He either practices his roundhouse kicks or browses funny raven and crow images.
Happyakumantaro: He either thinks about the relaxing atmosphere of the beach or considers which cocktail recipe he should try next.
Abul Abbas: He either indulges in gambling and drinking or embarks on solitary camel rides in the desert with his most trusted accomplices. On occasion, he playfully flirts with Sagan and the female soldiers of the Rebel Army.
Macba: He either scrolls through dating apps or polishes his boomerang-like blades.
Wired: He either tallies his stockpile of grenades and bullets or engages in arm-wrestling matches with Macba.
Oghma: He either enjoys 20-minute sensory deprivation flotation sessions or explores various wine flavours, documenting his thoughts on each one in his journal.
Zoilo: He either listens to nature sounds with binaural beats or chats with Macba about their home life and work frustrations.
Anastasia: She reads books on ancient Greek culture and esoteric philosophical ideas, while unwinding with 30-minute aromatherapy sessions.
Wysteria: She enjoys visiting the serene cerulean lake near the Sparrowhawk Operations Base, which is lined with broad-leaved trees, a few conifers, and a variety of flowers with primroses being particularly prominent. She also enjoys fidgeting with the handle of her whip and cleaning her Desert Eagle in a field of wildflowers on a sunny day.
Dilovar: He appreciates reflecting on the things he's grateful for in life. He also enjoys lying down on the grass to take deep breaths and reminisce about cherished moments with friends and past victories over adversaries.
Sagan: She either playfully flirts with her platoon of men, touches up her makeup, go on a smoke break or competes against Logan for fun in a drinking contest. Additionally, she engages in rigorous and intense tactical training exercises.
Logan: He either devises tactical plans, goes antiquing, has a smoke with Sagan and General Morden or improves his flexibility and combative strength by doing gymnastics and boxing.
Guilherme: He either wonders how Janaina is doing or spends his time watching Torquil fine-tune cars and tanks, discussing random topics with him.
Ferdinand: He either showers his pets with loving attention or painfully pinches his cheeks for 2 minutes straight.
Mikuláš: He practices mindfulness by finding a quiet space in nature to sit and focus on his breathing, which helps him centre himself. There are times when he attends church to pray to God, focusing on the good things in his life.
Gyeong-Hui: She looks away, either up at the sky or down at the ground, takes deep, calming breaths, and gently clicks her tongue. She occasionally makes sock puppets and sometimes engages in light-hearted discussions about Dezső and her friends with Ferumox β.
Thandolwethu: She likes to think about cattle while collecting rocks and arranging them in a circle.
Ekaterini: She likes to go to beaches where there are few to no people around and draw random patterns in the sand.
Souma: He either does 10-minute yoga sessions or forces himself to yawn six times.
Juozapas: He either engages in intense physical exercise to release endorphins and clear his mind or plays with his beloved dog for a couple of hours.
Priyanka: She enjoys going on long walks in nature, appreciating the tranquility and beauty around her. She sometimes likes to visit Buddhist temples with Yohanes and discuss any TV shows or movies they have watched recently.
Zdravko: He likes to spend 15 minutes sitting at the edge of a body of water, finding the rhythm of nature to be soothing and grounding.
Dezső: He excessively daydreams about Gyeong-Hui until his face turns as red as a tomato while fiddling with his thumbs.

My Favorite Games of 2023.
Hi. Hello. Thanks ever so much for clicking on this page. Happy to have you.
First thing's first: I'm a little freak when it comes to video games. I don't feel the need to beat most games I play. From Software is one of my favorite studios in the industry and I've never finished a single one of their games. This means, fortunately, that I get to play a LOT more games than the average bear.
I've written up some blurbs about my top ten favorite games from 2023, but before that here's the list of every game I remember playing this year that left any sort of lasting impact on me (in no particular order):
Dead Space Remake Resident Evil 4 Remake F-Zero 99 Humanity Dredge Metroid Prime Remastered Anemoiaplois Alan Wake 2 Baldur’s Gate 3 LoZ Tears of the Kingdom Counter Strike 2 Hunt Showdown El Paso Elsewhere Jusant Slay the Princess| Remnant II The Finals Street FIghter 6 Lethal Company BattleBit Remastered Don’t Scream Homebody The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog Pizza Tower World of Horror Super Mario Wonder Mr. Sun’s Hatbox Fifa 23 Sea of Stars (Demo) Half-Life (25th Anniversary Update)
And the games I played that were NOT released in 2023:
Unpacking Persona 4 Golden Picross 7 The Order 1886 Shovel Knight Dig Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Spider-Man: Miles Morales Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Project Zomboid Quake LoZ The Minish Cap Drill Dozer Wario Land 4 Pokemon Pinball Resident Evil Revelations Summer of ‘58 Trackmania TwinCop We Were Here Visage Cursed Halo CE Half-Life 2 (I probably play this once per year) Witch Hunt Red Dead Redemption 2 Cyberpunk 2077 Borderlands 3 Brutal Legend Cultic Slay the Spire PUBG Rez Infinite Batman Arkham City Alan Wake Alan Wake: American Nightmare Max Payne LoZ: Majora’s Mask 3DS Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2 Tunic Everhood Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VII Remake GOODBYE WORLD Yakuza: Like a Dragon Critters for Sale Dome Keeper Phasmophobia Hades Nintendo Switch Sports
Now that you understand the kind of freak you're dealing with…
Let's dive into my top ten favorite games from this objectively fucked up year.
10. El Paso Elsewhere Developed by Texas indie studio Strange Scaffold, El Paso Elsewhere is a Max Payne-clone with vampires, an opinionated narrator, and lots and lots of bullet time. As a small studio punching well above their weight class, Strange Scaffold leans into abstract, PlayStation 1 minimalism when it comes to visuals and pairs them with a soundtrack that will make your hands sweat. The vibes are here and they're ready for the end of the world. I'm personally also a big fan of everything this studio stands for.

9. Mr. Sun's Hatbox I want you to imagine Metal Gear Solid V. Now I want you to imagine that game as a 2D, level-based, slapstick platformer you can play with up to three friends. If you think that sounds stupid, you'd be right. And it's beautiful. As you build up a secret army of soldiers with various skills (and disorders), you'll start to develop *favorites*. This game constantly asks if you're willing to send those favorites on a harrowing mission and risk losing them forever… or if you'd rather send an idiot you recently captured who blinks constantly and can't kill anyone without fainting.

8. Dredge Every year I feel like I find one game that falls into the “just one more round” category, and baby… Dredge was it for 2023. As a weary fisherman in strange waters, you'll make the most out of your 12 measly hours of sunlight only for your daily voyages to inevitably pull you into the darkness of night, and night is when things get weird. Rocks emerge from the fog that you swear weren't there before, your equipment malfunctions, and you're pretty sure you just saw something in the water… something big. Despite only containing a small collection of islands, the world of Dredge manages to feel vast - perhaps vast enough to swallow you whole.
7. Resident Evil 4 Remake I was curious to see what sort of changes would be made to the timeless classic and father of modern 3rd person shooters, Resident Evil 4. I wasn't let down. RE4 Remake takes all the things that didn't age well about the original, tossed them out, and replaced them with only good things. And MORE things! It's campy, fun, and better than a game of bingo.

6. Jusant I really feel like this one didn't get the recognition it deserves. Jusant is a rock climbing game that combines the quiet contemplation of Journey with the mechanical specificity of Death Stranding. Unlike Death Standing, though, there is very little story to interrupt your flow. There are plenty of collectible bits to find for those curious to learn more about what happened before the events of the game, but the environmental storytelling does most of the heavy lifting. For me, the joy of the game comes from how it feels. Right trigger controls your right hand grip, and left trigger controls left hand grip. Plan your route, manage your stamina, and climb high above the clouds in search of answers.

5. F-Zero 99 This. Shit. Slaps. I've never been a big F-Zero guy, but this MADE me one. The “battle royale”, 99 player format is the perfect fit for the ruthless, high octane world of the game. Races last about three minutes, and friend, they are the most intense, white-knuckled three minutes of your life. The decision to make your boost meter the same as your health meter started in F-Zero 64 (I believe), and it is so much more HARROWING in this game when another player could side-swipe you mere meters from the finish line and blow you to bits. Sadly it's only playable via Switch Online, but it made me cheer, laugh, and scream enough this year to earn a spot in my top 5.

4. Alan Wake 2 Remedy makes weird games that also manage to exist in the AAA space and for that I will forever love them. Although Alan Wake 2 resembles a 3rd person shooter survival horror, I'd honestly say it's more of a narrative game than anything else. There's sidequests, there's puzzles, there's upgradeable skills, but at the end of the day the characters, world, and story are what kept me playing. If you haven't checked them out recently, you should definitely watch a story recap of the original games before diving into this sequel, but the wild swings for the fences this game takes are well worth that small price of admission. There's a god damn musical number, for Christ's sake.

3. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom I've really got nothing to say about this game that most people don't already know. It's incredible. The fact that Nintendo made a game that redefined an entire genre and then made a SEQUEL to it that ups the ante is remarkable. To be honest, I've only cleared the Rito, Zora, and Goron cities. I got a bit tired of exploring the depths and guiding Koroks to their friends, but I can't deny the sheer level of complexity and polish on display here. I saw someone on TikTok build a functioning Mecha Godzilla in this game. Good God. I've heard that the ending of this game is one of the best in the franchise, and if I'd seen it this year then it may have wound up higher on my list, but for the time being I'll continue picking up this masterpiece from time to time, chipping away at it until the day comes that I can finally smack the tits off thicc Ganondorf.

2. Half-Life (25th Anniversary Update) I know I'm gonna get shit for this, but I don't care. This year was the 25th anniversary of Half-Life and Valve released an update that made playing it (and it's online Death Match) much more accessible. I threw it on my Steam Deck out of curiosity, expecting to play for 20 minutes. I could not put it down. It is unbelievable how modern this game still feels. I simply had so much fun sprinting through the corridors of Black Mesa with a dozen weapons strapped to my back, blasting aliens and military Spec-Op chumps as a 24(?!) year old theoretical physicist.

1. Baldur's Gate III This game is fucked up, man. The sheer amount of writing in this game scares me. We can all talk about how BIG this game is, it deserves it, but the thing BG3 does better than any other role playing game I have ever experienced is actually encourage roleplaying. I've played through Act I four times now, with four different groups of friends, and it has felt fresh every time. I have seen the same events play out in so many different ways that it boggles the mind, but in every one of those play sessions I see players asking themselves “What would my lil guy do here?” rather than "what is the best thing to do here?" The game rewards players constantly for just trying shit and the D&D 5e rule set means playing like the character you said you were from the start leads to frequent Points of Inspiration. Maybe one day I'll see the end of this story (probably not), but I don't have to in order to feel a connection with BG3's world, characters, and most impressively, the characters I made myself.

Honorable Mentions for 2023
5. Dave the Diver 4. Homebody 3. Sea of Stars 2. Humanity 1. Super Mario Wonder
Top 5 Favorites NOT from 2023
5. Metroid Prime 4. Final Fantasy VII Remake 3. Cursed Halo (Halo CE Mod) 2. Red Dead Redemption 2 1. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (3DS)
Games I didn't have a chance to play from 2023 but still want to when I find more time...

Hey you! Yes, you! Learn how to use GZDoom!
Also if you see this post, please reblog it if you think it's good, like I don't think Tumblr's algorithm (that kinda exists) will like it.
Hi, I'm Lynn "WJB" Beck, and I'm here to tell you about an exciting new old game engine that is extremely easy to use for not just making original games, but also mods and animations and stuff!
And this engine... is GZDoom.
GZDoom is an enhanced sourceport of the 1993 first-person shooter, demon-punching simulator and stress-test for pretty much any technology that contains a computer. As opposed to more low-key and/or "vanilla" sourceports like Chocolate Doom or Boom, GZDoom allows for a lot more options, including Build Engine-style voxels, several types of dynamic lighting, and even stuff that was originally exclusive to specific Doom Engine games, like Strife's light RPG mechanics, This means that it can be used to make extremely impressive "total conversion" mods, and even fully original games with entirely custom stuff!
This guide covers how to get started, and a basic overview of how certain things work (get ready to learn about lumps!).
Getting Started
Ok so before you can start Doing The Thing, you need to... install some software! Don't worry, it's only like 4 and they're fairly lightweight.
Go to this website here and download the most recent version of GZDoom. You will need this to actually run your game.
Go here and get Slade. You will need this to import custom graphics and audio, as well as to use text-lumps (which are basically necessary, even if you're making a basic custom level set, and I will explain why further down).
This ZDoom Forum topic is where you can get Ultimate Doom Builder. While there are other Doom mapping tools, UDB is what I personally use, and it's extremely beginner-friendly while also being fairly versatile. It even has a built-in script editor, so you can modify a script and then immediately jump into testing to see if what you've done has worked!
Finally, you need a copy of specifically Doom 2. You could use Doom 1, but in my opinion Doom 2 is better because it has a lot more stuff than the first game, and - let's be real - you'll probably be doing a lot of vanilla mapping to get to grips with the editor before you can start making your big ambitious game (which is what I'm doing over on my modding sideblog, check it out). I'll leave this one up to you. EDIT: I forgot that Freedoom exists. That's also good.
Mounting stuff into Ultimate Doom Builder
Next, you'll need to get UDB set up. This is fairly easy. First open UDB and, as soon as it starts up, go to the top-menu and click "Tools", then go to Game Configuration. Select "GZDoom: Doom 2 (UDMF)" and click "add resource"; using the attached file-explorer, locate the Doom 2 folder on your computer's file system and add DOOM2.WAD to the list of resources, then do the same with gzdoom.pk3 in the GZDoom folder (making sure to switch the "Add Resource" tab from "From WAD" to "From PK3". Click Ok, and you're done!
If you want to put your custom graphics into the game, you simply create a WAD file in Slade, put your graphics in (more on that later) and save it; then when creating a map in UDB, this box will appear:
If you click "Add resource" here, you can then select your custom wad and use any assets, code etc. in your map!
How Slade works
This bit is a bit more complex because it deals with multiple file formats and methods of importing stuff, but I'll start simply by explaining textures, flats, sprites and patches.
Before I do that though, I need to talk about Markers. To define images as a sprite, patch or flat, you need to put them between a pair of Markers with specific names, which you can create by clicking the "New Entry" button:
"Empty (Marker)" is selected by default, so all you need to do is name it. The naming format is [LETTER]_START to start a section and [LETTER]_END to end one; S_Start/S_End are for sprites, P_Start/P_End are for patches, and F_Start and F_End are for flats. You can, additionally, further subdivide this by making another pair of Markers inside a Start/End pair with a number after the letter, but I'm not sure if this does anything (my only experience with it is that the Doom 2 wad file does this).
Now to explain how these things actually work! First, sprites. A sprite is an image that represents an object or creature in the game, and a cool thing that GZDoom does is let you use generic PNGs instead of Doom's proprietary GFX format. Sprites use the following naming scheme: a four-letter identifier, a single character denoting what frame of the animation the image represents (the Arch-Vile, which has the most sprites out of any monster in Doom 2, has frames that go from A all the way to Z, and then [, \ and ]), and finally a number from 0-8 that indicates the angle the Thing (that's the technical term for a Doom Engine entity, by the way) is at. Using the Imp as an example:
The "0" angle just means that the sprite should look the same regardless of the player's angle; this is used for items, decorations, the death animations of all monsters (including players), and the two sprites used for Doom II's final boss.
A cool thing about sprite angles is that you can actually make a sprite work for multiple angles; by adding an extra frame-letter and angle-number after the first set, you can do things like have a monster whose left and right walking frames are the same but mirrored by formatting the sprite's name as something like NAMEA2A8 (in fact, the Imp uses this technique for all its sprites apart from its death animation).
Next up, flats! Flats are square textures that are designed to go on floors or ceilings (though you can use them anywhere, including as sky textures!) but lack the flexibility of patch-based textures. You literally just. Import your texture and put it between F_Start and F_End. That's it. That's how a flat works.
And finally, patches. Patches are complicated, but very easy to use when you know what you're doing. First, put your image between P_Start and P_End, then right click it, put your mouse over the "Graphics" dropdown, and select "Add to Patch Table". You will then be prompted to create a TEXTURES lump; click "Ok" with the default settings. This creates a Texture1 lump, and the "Patch Table" (which is just a list of patches, which I will explain soon), alongside P_Start and P_End if they aren't already present (and a dummy texture). Double-click Texture1 to open it, and then select "New Texture" (you can adjust the scale, too):
Once this is done, go to the top-right corner and click "Add patch":
By default, you only have access to any patches you have assigned, but a cool trick I use in my own mapsets whenever I want to modify an official texture is to copy its Texture1 entry from the Doom 2 WAD, then paste it into my WAD's Texture1 and rename it. This does create copies of the constituent patches in your own wad's P_Start/P_End section, but you can delete those and it will still work fine.
Both patches and Flats are limited to 8-letter names, so be warned.
The actual final thing to talk about is converting PNGs to GFX; this is a simple process, but it can cause issues with colour. Basically, Doom has a very specific palette:
While this can look pretty good, on images it wasn't designed for or that use colours it doesn't feature, it can look pretty bad. For example, if I put this random image I made through the conversion process:
Then it comes out looking like this:
All the more cyan-adjacent hues become more blue, it nuked the antialiasing, and some of the gaps in my colouring are now much more obvious (especially on the fifth character's head and legs).
My point is, only do this if you want your mod to be compatible with more vanilla sourceports, or if you want to reduce the filesize. Otherwise, you're better off just using a strict palette when making the sprites and keeping them as PNGs.
Custom palettes are possible, but like. Literally all you do is click "New Entry", select "palette", name it, click the "Import from" button (purple page with a diagonal arrow on the top-middle of the palette-view window), set the filetype on the file explorer to "PNG", and import your custom palette image (which should be square (non-square images get squished and lose some colours) and 16x16 at the smallest, though the images I normally use are 128x128 because for some reason they're scaled up by a factor of 8, even though they display the same when imported regardless of size). You can even test them out or add them to the in-built palette list, which is nice. If you want it to override the default palette when your WAD is loaded, name the lump "PLAYPAL", which is what Doom's palette is called.
Now we get to talk about text lumps! I don't have much to say. Do the "New Entry" thing, select "Text", and name the file. The ZDoom wiki - which I will be linking to at the end - has information on each type, so check those out.
Map making
This is the final main section of this, and I'll try keeping it fairly brief and simple. Doom maps use four main elements; Vertices, Lines, Sectors, and Things. A Vertex is, well a vertex; it's a point in 2D space that acts as a starting or connecting point on a Line. Lines can be either walls or walkover triggers, depending on how you use them. Sectors can be rooms or shapes on the floor, and have properties such as damaging floors, being "underwater" (the player can swim and sound is muffled), or even having different gravity. Finally, a Thing is any entity that isn't one of those, ranging from monsters to player-starts to decorations, plus some complex technical ones I can't even begin to explain.
Useful resources
I am not good with words, but these places are!
ZDoom wiki - covers both regular ZDoom and GZDoom, plus other sourceports like the multiplayer-focused Skulltag and Zandronum. It has guides about ACS and ZScript, two of GZDoom's most useful tools for scripting maps and Things, respectively, as well as the obsolete "DECORATE" language which ZScript incorporates many elements of.
Dragonfly's Doomworks - mapping tutorial resource. I use their portal tutorial a lot whenever I want to put portals in a map.
Doomwiki - good for looking up monster and weapon stats for if you're making custom Things.

#Blind Incandescence - Detective AU
Note: I randomly came across this - 'T was hilarious. We must continue. Putting it here for easier access.
Thread Title: Data, Drama and Coffee Karma
@uchihaa-itachi:
“For the record, both of you owe me coffee.” Came the monotonous voice from behind a flickering computer screen, “Also, mind telling me who gave Naruto access to the case files?”
๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑
@senjutsunade:
She’s exhausted.
Her head hurts.
They have been trying to fix Naruto’s mess for the last few hours. And how her eyes are ready to bleed out of their sockets.
What was it with Uzumaki fingers and destruction?
Deadpanning, her only response isto throw a pink highlighter at the Uchiha.
“Blame Kakashi!”
๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑
@konohagakurekakashi:
A non-committal humm was his only response as he shifted within his seat, back and shoulders popping in protest. He vaguely wondered how he contributed to the curse that was solely attached to the Uzumaki name (and fingerpads) before his stare settled on the empty belly of his pug mug. Itachi-chan was right about one thing though, they could all do with another refill.
He would have to get to that, seeing as the Uchiha was still trapped in the all-encompassing void of data-input, the light of his screen casting ghostly shadows underneath his lids. Their honored employer was engaged in a battle with a pad of sticky-notes; each treacherous slip, tearing and crumpling before she can stick her reprimands and scribbles to the Intern's chair/table/Ramen calandar (there was also the datum that Tsunade-sama's coffee usually came with an added kick, punch and bodyslam--each sip doing it's bit to disintegrate the esophagus). Kakashi sweatdropped at the thought. Iie he would definitely have to be the propitiatory lamb here. Absently clearing his throat Kakashi's pencil rose from his half-done crossword to flick twice at the switch of their trusted coworker (Mr coffee maker).
"Sou des ne... I need an 8 letter word for difficult... Starting with a T..."
๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑
@uchihaa-itachi:
Cue a noncommittal hum as pale digits caught the offensively colored highlighter, dark orbs pausing to shoot the blond a look that would be more or less ignored. This was routine, after all, though he supposed he ought to consider him lucky it was stationary this time. They were already up to their eyebrows in paperwork and certainly didn’t need an addition in the form of carpenter bills.
Yare ne...Eyes flickered back to the computer screen, gaze zeroing in on an obnoxious line of code that had no business in a computer software that could barely process binary to begin with. Thus was the power of funding and accident prone little kouhai fingers that could do more damage than they were probably worth.
“Try toilsome.” Like our collective existence.
The sound of bubbling liquid was quite welcome in their dingy little void.
๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑
@senjutsunade:
Late hours were become far too common, recently. Cases were coming their way far too frequently. Becoming increasingly absurd. Inhumane. And so, despite the apparent annoyance, these moments were somewhat relaxing.
Or they would have been, if she weren’t being consumed by an endless amount of paperwork. Hadn’t she done all this not even 4 days ago?
Letting out a barely audible sigh, she tried once again to read the scrawl that was supposed to be...a receipt? A report? A grocery list? Eye twitching in annoyance, she scribbled furiously on a sticky note, and sapped it into the offensive paper, as if force was required to make it stick.
Growling, a glare was directed at Kakashi. “Or Tortuous”. Maybe she should try sticking a few to some of the interns foreheads? “Troublesome!” With a stapler to make them really stick? “Taxing!” the eight letter requirement completely forgotten.
“Irksome!”And so went the ‘starting with T’ requirement out of the window. The annoying paper was shoved away, as another one, with STAINS of some sort on it, was revealed. “Inconvenient!”
Why were these intern creatures becoming more useless each year? “Problematic!!!” As she started scribbling another note, furiously, her pen decided to run out of ink that very moment and thus the useless stationary was hurled at the silver haired idiot, this time.
“Infuriating!”
๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑๑
@konohagakurekakashi:
His superior’s initial huffs and glowers soared over his head like a paper plane, the Hatake having built up a resistance against the special brand © she reserved just for him within the second year of his employment at Anbu--much like her endurance toward his time-keeping skills and very valid, very real excuses. When her ire started to ascent with each scrap and crinkle of paper however, Kakashi spared a prudent gaze in her direction, pencil long having scratched ‘toilsome’ into each awaiting, puzzle block. Yet, the only thing his concerned gaze got him was a pen to the chin, grey hues following the way the offending piece of stationary fell back onto his desk, before rolling onto the carpet and underneath the copying machine (never to be seen or heard of again) Fact. The underside of their copying Machine was a No-Man’s land. “Maa…Maa…I think you’re running on low blood sugar, Tsunade-sama, if your arms keep jerking like that, you’re ‘gonna get a paper-cut.” He slowly stood from his seat, wincing at the familiar ache that came with horrendous, desk posture—before closing the distance leading to Mr Coffee Maker. “I’d recommend the usual order from the usual place, demo, I think they closed down two weeks ago due to non-compliance with health regulations…” Cue a quirk of his brow in the Uchiha’s direction to confirm same, before he started his search for the Sugar container—the stupid crock never being in the same place at the same time (mutant ants—being the ongoing theory).

How to Start a Podcast
Part 1
The second article Sydney kindly gave me is How to Start a Podcast by buzzsprout. Buzzsprout is also a hosting site, which you need when you start a podcast, so they have to know their stuff (according to the article, since 2009 they've helped three hundred thousand podcasts launch, which is impressive).
Buzzsprout breaks the process into ten actionable steps.
Develop a concept.
Define goals
Pick a theme/topic (they provide a whopping seventy-five in this article linked)
Find a niche
Name it (they have provided this article for further reading)
2. Choose a format
I didn't think about this before I read this article, but there are different ways to present podcasts- the article mentions interview, cohosted, scripted non-fiction, news, educational, and scripted fiction (and I will provide audio drama help as I conduct my own research and get information from podcasters about it).
The article goes over the 'optimal' podcast episode length, with some statistics, but the only thing that seems to be important they put in the first sentence: "Make your episodes as long as they need to be and no longer."
They also talk about an episode release schedule, with more stats.
3. Set up recording equipment
Of course they talk about microphones, including another article all about that aspect of podcasting, but apparently there are different types of microphones. I never knew that. They go somewhat in-depth about the different kinds, so I'll leave the technical reading to you.
4. Choose software
The article also talks about different software, from recording to editing. They give a few different options in the article, with links to each. I'm not sure if they get commissions based on how many people click through, so I'll leave you to go there to give them some love.
5. Record your first episode.
The article further breaks the process into smaller steps.
A) Write an outline (with further reading that includes templates)
B) Pick your recording room wisely
Before Sydney's post, I didn't know that sound travels different off of hard and soft surfaces, though I guess in retrospect I should have figured (echos in canyons, for example). I didn't realize it would make a big difference, but I guess it does.
C) Connect your equipment and set up your software
This is important- make sure you hit 'record' and everything's plugged in, folks.
D) Microphone technique
If you're going to speak into a microphone, learn to do it right.
E) Test different recording styles
Test for quality.
6. Edit
They provide an article for further reading. In the main article, they break it into broad steps.
A) Make sure the intro and outro are engaging
Hook the listener right away.
B) Edit for content, then everything else.
Start with big cuts, then move smaller.
C) Fade between tracks
Apparently, cutting audio can sometimes make clicks and pops in the recording. Who knew?
D) Create a punch list
I guess this is a to-do list.
Then when all that's done, you export it! They throw a bit of technical jargon at you (what the heck is an ID3 tag?) but thankfully, it seems to be fairly simple with this podcasting host site. I'm not sponsored by them, it just seems easy enough for beginners.
7. Create podcast artwork.
They also include five tips for that.
A) Visually communicate the subject
B) Design for a variety of sizes
C) Don't use too many words or fonts
D) Avoid 'podcast imagery' (microphones, for example)
E) Keep your brand consistent
They provide a few sites for people to create artwork, so that's cool.
8. Set up podcast hosting
To be honest, this confused the Hell out of me. But there are a few videos about it they linked at the end of the step, so feel free to read the full article and watch them.
9. Get listed in podcast directories
More technical stuff, but I guess that you need the last step- hosting- to actually get onto Spotify or Apple podcasts or any other site/app.
10. Launch and grow
The article goes over two ways to launch- grand and soft- and a few other things like imposter syndrome. It talks about seven marketing tips.
A) Tell friends and family
B) Create a buzzsprout ad
C) Post episodes on social media
D) Join groups and forums
E) Cross-promote with other podcasters
F) Overcast ads
G) Create a call to action
The article also recommends celebrating, and I'm always down for a celebration. Don't be embarrassed it's about your own achievements, or feel like it's needlessly self-congratulatory or self-centered. It seems like a ton of work, so give yourself some credit!

I mean I had to do this eventually. I won’t rank all of them because there are SO many, but here is the Top 20. Enjoy!
Top 20 Best From Software Boss Fights In Order
Malenia, Blade of Miquella- She wins. I can’t help but to put her here for a myriad of reasons. Aesthetic, difficulty, arena, moveset, rewards, the practice you need? She makes me happy for reasons the rest of this community will NEVER understand.
Sister Friede & Father Ariandel- The most stressful stamina fight you will EVER do in these games. Three consecutive boss fights that were all built to test how well you can manage your own healing with different strategies tailored to each section. Friede still scares me to this day and I love her for it.
Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower- Probably the easiest boss fight I’ll put on this list, but frankly, this fight is glorious. Truly, such an entertaining fight and yet she still keeps me on my toes.
Darkeater Midir- I still maintain this as the ONLY perfect dragon fight in all of FromSoft’s entire menagerie. No one else even holds a candle to this legend. Not Fortissax, not Kalameet, not Placidusax. Midir takes their crown without even a contest.
Knight Artorias- This man STILL kicks my ass. DS1 didn’t really age well in terms of difficulty, but Artorias still demonstrates to this day that his greatsword can find its way down my throat easier than most bosses.
Slave Knight Gael- Truly one of the more satisfying wins on this list. I always feel accomplished when I beat this man at the end of DS3 and his entire story is probably one of the better lore entries in the Souls Narrative.
Dancer of the Boreal Valley- My favorite base game boss bar none. Aesthetic and difficulty and the best outfit in the game.
Sword Saint Isshin- Truly a gorgeous fight. Scale plus difficulty AND a great ending to Sekiro.
Ornstein and Smough- No explanation needed. The original gank fight and nothing has ever come close since.
Orphan of Kos- I shouldn’t like this scrawny heathen, but fuck if he’s not one of two reasons I crawl my ass back through this game time and again.
Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy-Dude says 15 words the entire game and his voice lines have been etched into my skull. Plus, his fight is cinematic as hell and he gives me serotonin.
Demon Princes-The closest FromSoft came to matching O&S in gank fights. Unique mechanic and the bosses’ design was actually super dope. Entertaining every time.
Genichiro- This man taught me how to play Sekiro single-handedly by kicking the shit out of me until I understood. Easy fight now, but he needed to be included.
Gravelord Nito- I don’t have an explanation for this one. I shouldn’t like him, but here we are.
Mohg, Lord of Blood- Very creative boss fight and his music is dope. An underrated yet VERY satisfying boss fight to win if you take him down by yourself.
Radagon of the Golden Order- Checks all of the boxes in my humble opinion. He also has great lore and his physical design is incredible to look at. Plus I gotta respect the dude for putting his hammer through my skull. Every. Single. Time.
Guardian Ape- This fucker forced me to play like Dark Souls in Sekiro. After all that work learning from Genichiro, this punk had the audacity to make me relearn everything. Respect.
Quelaag- You know why she’s here. Don’t act like you don’t. We love her and we respect her.
The Nameless King- Hours of work paid off when I learned to beat this dude. My level of play skyrocketed when I learned how to beat this guy. Everything became so much easier after I learned how to successfully kick this guy’s ass on command and I’ll forever respect him for it.
Owl (Father)- An ADHD nightmare, but one of the more satisfying victories in Sekiro. He also is a good punching bag to empty out the disdain I carry for my own father and my father can’t even throw shuriken.

Handheld Fighting Games of 95/99 - Mortal Kombat 4
Mortal Kombat 4 was released for the Game Boy Color in December 1999, developed by Digital Eclipse Software, Inc. and published by Midway Home Entertainment, Inc. This handheld version adapts the original arcade and console game but with several limitations due to hardware constraints.
The game follows the story of Raiden, who gathers warriors to stop the revived Shinnok from conquering the universe. Gameplay remains a traditional one-on-one fighting format, where players use punches, kicks, and special moves to deplete their opponent's health bar.
The Game Boy Color version features a roster of nine fighters—Raiden, Liu Kang, Scorpion, Reiko, Tanya, Fujin, Sub-Zero, Quan Chi, and the unlockable Reptile—fewer than its console counterparts. It also lacks the 3D graphics of other versions, instead using an engine from its predecessor. Other limitations for the Game Boy Color version include short FMV's that replace in the game fatalities, removal of blood effects outside of the FMV's as well as removal of the combo and weapons systems. #gaming #videogames #fightinggames

Smart Attendance: The Modern Shift to Online Systems.

Spreadsheets, punch cards, or handing out sign-in sheets were the methods of the past for keeping track of attendance. These days, online attendance software is assisting businesses in their transition to more intelligent and effective tracking.
Online Attendance Software: What Is It?
A digital tool called online attendance software keeps track of when people arrive at work, school, or an event. It instantly updates records and can be used on PCs, smartphones, or tablets. This means no more paperwork and no more wondering if the numbers are correct.
Why It's Gaining Popularity
Organizations are choosing online systems for a few simple reasons:
Saves Time: No manual entry or corrections needed.
Reduces Errors: Less chance of mistakes compared to paper-based methods.
Works Remotely: Employees or students can mark attendance even when working from home.
Generates Reports Instantly: Get daily or monthly summaries in one click.
Who Can Use It?
This kind of software is useful in more places than you might think:
Offices: To track employee check-in and check-out times.
Schools: For monitoring student attendance and keeping parents informed.
Events: To manage guest lists and entry logs.
Field Teams: Let staff mark attendance from job sites or while on the move.
What to Look For in a Good System When choosing a platform, make sure it offers:
Mobile and desktop access
Real-time updates
Simple interface
Report generation
Secure data handling
Concluding remarks
Making the switch to an online attendance system is about working more efficiently, not just going digital. It improves accuracy, saves time, and aids teams in maintaining accountability.

Using the Face Attendance Mobile App to Transform Workforce Management | iLoggedIn
Businesses are looking for more intelligent ways to manage their workforces in today's tech-driven, fast-paced world. The Face Attendance Mobile App is one of the most significant developments in employee management; it is a game-changer for businesses seeking to expedite attendance tracking with increased security and accuracy. For real-time workforce management, iLoggedIn provides a cutting-edge solution that enables businesses to abandon antiquated biometric systems and adopt facial recognition technology.
What is a mobile app for face attendance?

A Face Attendance Mobile App is a piece of software that records and verifies employee attendance using facial recognition technology. This app works with any mobile device that has a camera and doesn't require physical contact, unlike conventional punch cards or fingerprint scanners. Workers only need to launch the app, scan their face, and their attendance is automatically recorded. Time and geolocation information is safely recorded.
Why Use the Face Attendance App from iLoggedIn?
We at iLoggedIn are aware of how contemporary businesses are changing. Our Face Attendance Mobile App is made to streamline and improve the process of managing attendance in a number of important ways:
Hygienic and Contactless
Touchless solutions are more crucial than ever, particularly in the post-pandemic environment. Employees can use the iLoggedIn app to record attendance without physically touching a device, which improves workplace hygiene and lessens the spread of germs.
Real -time appearance tracking
Our app enables real-time appearance updates, allowing managers to monitor check-in and check-out data. Whether your team works in the office, far, or on the field, the app keeps you connected with accurate data at all times.
Jio-tagging and time stamping
For businesses with distance teams or field workers, it is important to verify the location. Iloggedin face action atternance mobile app captures GPS location and time with each appearance log, which ensures accountability and transparency in your workforce.
Anti-Spoof Technology
Facial recognition has to face one of its most common challenges, namely spoofing: deception through a photograph or video. iLoggedin applies advanced artificial intelligence technology to detect and prevent spoofing attempts it provides. This guarantees the acceptance of facial data that is live and real-time.
Cloud Within Reach
We have included the mobile application of our services to be fully cloud-based, given that attendance records are available anytime, anywhere. HR, through the touch of only a few clicks, can generate detailed reports, record attendance variance, and manage employees.
Who Can Benefit from the Face Attendance Mobile App?
Indeed, the Face Attendance Mobile App is useful for any sector. Some of them are listed below:
Corporate Offices: Effectively maintaining hybrid as well as remote teams.
Construction Sites: Record on-site employees down to their exact places.
Educational Institutions: The simplest way to record student and staff attendance.
Healthcare Facilities: Create both cleanliness and accountability.
Retail Chains: Record attendance centrally across multiple store locations.
Integration is easy and user-friendly.
At iLoggedIn, we keep user experience sacrosanct. Our app adds no complexity in terms of installation or integration among existing HR systems. It has an intuitive interface, which even the least tech-savvy employees can learn to use easily. In a matter of minutes, training and onboarding can be done, saving your precious resources and time.
Safe, Scalable, and Future-Ready
Security goes into the heart of what we do. Every facial data touched in records is encrypted and stored securely. Additionally, as your business expands, iLoggedIn offers scalable solutions to manage a workforce of any size. What is more, the R&D team carries out continuous enhancements to the platform to ensure it is in line with current AI and facial recognition advancements.
Conclusion
The Face Attendance Mobile App is very much a modern workforce solution that boosts productivity, accountability, and security rather than just an ordinary attendance-taking device. There should be nothing to worry about as this will ease attendance taking for an entire workforce, whether manned or unmanned, numbering 10 or 10,000.
Download this app now from the Play Store for easy and secure Face Attendance Mobile App.
