I love you clowns I love you puppets I love you stop motion I love you animatronics I love you porcelain dolls I love you marionettes I love it when someone makes a stylized caricaturized character and wills it to exist in the real physical world and then breathe life into it with acting, be it by animating or in real time through their body. It's all about Creating a Little Guy and communicating the beauty of the things you observe around you: the sadness, the humor, and the absurdity of life. And the comfort your audience feels, knowing that even if the Little Guy you created can only be viewed through a screen, it exists somewhere in the real world. You know what it would feel like to touch it. It may not seem realistic, and the limitations of the medium may be very visible, but they can tell it was made with love, and that's why it's wonderful

I want to see more appreciation for these art forms. please. I understand there is a certain uncanneyness that can be off-putting to some people, but come on. at least try to move beyond your initial knee-jerk reaction and notice the real human emotions that were the driving force of the artists. If I have to deal with 5 more years of google autofilling "creepy"/"scary"/"killer" into my search bar when I'm trying to discover new works in some of my favorite art forms, I'm going to lose it.

Here she is, my finished puppet of lo! I've been working on her on-and-off for about a year! I actually finished her about a month ago but hadn't been able to get good footage of her until now :U

I've always been interested in puppetry, I think it's pretty neat! This is my first attempt at a puppet like this, though I have made the blinking mechanism once before. Her body is made of foam and her head & eyes were 3D printed. Her ears are actually cosplay ears that can move and swerve. I'm pretty pleased with how she came out :3

These photos show just how much talent was involved on Bob McCarron's crew; the photos were kindly provided to me by John Cox (who won an Oscar for his work on George Miller's Babe), with Belnda Villani and Vivienne MacGillicuddy present in these photos. Villani would later work as sculptor on The Matrix trilogy, and MacGillicuddy did prosthetic makeups on the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

All in all I woud again like to thank John Cox for sending me these, and helping more people see the work put in an, in my opinion, very underrated werewolf film!

If you haven't already guessed, I absolutely love all things ALF. Fair Warning: The majority of my posts are about him.

Other fandoms/interests: Rock-Afire Explosion, animatronics, the Muppets/Jim Henson, puppetry, Disney (the parks mainly but sometimes some other stuff), Star Trek (I just started it so I'm only on the second season of TOS so no spoilers please), 80s culture and music, Michael Jackson, the Beatles, "Weird Al" Yankovic, M*A*S*H, filmmaking, scriptwriting, and probably some other stuff I can't think of at the moment

Fun Facts For No Apparent Reason:

-I usually refer to ALF as Gordon. Just a fair warning.

-I've got ideas for an ALF revival that will never come to fruition (probably). Which is a shame, since I already have a whole fanfiction similar to it (it was the original plot for it but it went off the rails from how I wanted it to go so I ended it), which you can find the link for in my bio if you're interested in reading it. I'm also working on a pitch bible and have a demo script written out, but they were only done because I had a ton of free time when I made them.

-A few of my headcanons for Gordon: he's nearsighted and has either ADHD or OCD or Autism (he's undiagnosed)

-Uhh...did I mention I'm hyperfixated on ALF?
