SOTM SPOILERS AHEAD!!
okay so I’ve seen a few questions about SOTM and how it effects previously established lore and I kinda wanna give my two cents on and try to clarify maybe theorize a little.
“So William and Henry didn’t make the original designs anymore?”
No. They did. At least the ones we know. It’s kind of complicated. Firstly, Fazbear Entertainment and by extension Fredbear’s Family Diner was already an established business when they collaborated with Edwin. So by that logic Fredbear and most likely Springbonnie probably already existed. The prototypes we see of them in the R&D section were supposed to be for the new establishment as this was pre-bite. Both would go on to be reworked/rebranded into new characters being Freddy and Bonnie. Chica and Foxy is where it starts to get a little more muddy. Chica was obviously designed by Fiona, at least her Chica’s party world version. But I think it’s also important to remember that for all of these the Murrays were contracted to make them. Meaning I imagine they were given some kind of description of what they were looking for, hence Chica at first being referred to as the design for the hen animatronic. I imagine that at least the basic idea of there being a chicken animatronic was commissioned by them. With Foxy it’s kind of unclear, we see the puppet version of Foxy and we know Fiona made puppets. We even see she made a pirate wolf/fox of some kind for David. So I see it either being, Foxy was Fiona’s original character but he was put for lease or sale and bought by Fazbearent. OR Foxy specifically and the Foxy pirate stage show we see was made for or in collaboration with FazbearEnt. But regardless of if William and Henry made the original designs or ideas or not they had final say on the versions we know today. They ended up not using Fiona’s designs for the first Freddy Fazbear’s location, which are described as ‘creepy’ by Edwin. Seeing as these animatronics go on to match the style of animatronics we know were designed by William and Henry I think it’s safe to say they had a hand in making the final versions we know from the other games. So yes I do still think the majority of the original gang that we know can still be attributed to Afton and Emily.
“So does this mean that Afton and Henry didn’t make the springlocks?”
As I said before I don’t think so. Fredbear’s was already an established brand. We know that location specifically used Springlocks. I think it’s more likely Henry and William came up with the idea, maybe had some kind of prototype, and worked with Edwin to improve upon the idea or use the technology for new suits that were planned to be at the next location. So it was more likely that all three (or at least Henry and Edwin) worked on the Springlock technology.
“Okay so then what was William Afton after in stealing from Edwin? If he didn’t want the characters or the springlocks what did he want?”
Well, I’m glad you asked. First of all, I believe William was after employees. He was poaching employees from Edwin, we see this implied a couple times throughout. Most likely because he was working on creating Afton robotics at the time and wanted workers for himself. Especially given that Edwin’s business was on a downward spiral and wouldn’t have lasted very long. Secondly, although it’s still debatable if Fazbear entertainment even was sending groups to the factory or if it was the mimic luring employees there the whole time. We know Arnold most likely was tricked and lured there by the mimic. But I think the way Edwin speaks about trying to keep things from them and being betrayed and the fact he puts all his plans so only he can access them does imply William was after something. That something? I believe was not the characters (although FazEnt would end up taking the majority of those too. Although I think that was through a buyout as most of them were for sale or lease and Edwin needed money) but I think he wanted the technology. Think about it. There’s so much stuff we see in Edwin’s factory that seems like it could’ve been used in a lot of the sister location’s technology specifically. 1. There’s the scooper. There’s just.. straight up the scooper. Right there. Edwin made the scooper. I don’t think there’s any debating that. 2. This one might be a bit of a stretch but I can’t help but feel the Tiger sections the mimic acts strikingly similar to how we see Funtime Foxy and Funtime Freddy function. It’s very reminiscent of the way Funtime Foxy reacts to light in the Funtime auditorium section. 3. The most important reason I believe is because of the mimic’s ability to copy voices. Which we see is an ability in some of the Funtime animatronics as well. I mean Funtime Freddy literally has the ability to mimic voices. They outright call it mimicry. Funtime Foxy also has an ability to “Parental voice sync and Replay” which to me sounds like it’s talking about a form of mimicking as well.
To give the TLTR version:
-Original Gang most likely still was William and Henry’s idea at least what animals they should be but they commissioned Fiona for the designs and never ended up using her designs (except for Chica during the Chica’s Party World Era but the Murray’s owned that). Switching to their own designs last minute.
-Springlocks still most likely were invented by Henry and/or William as Fredbear’s existed before Edwin’s partnership with them. The prototypes we see of Fredbear and SpringBonnie were supposed to be for the new location but most likely never got used because of the incident in 83.
-William Afton was still stealing ideas from Edwin even if it wasn’t the animatronics. I believe he was more so after the technology which can be reflected in his later inventions like the Funtime animatronics. He also was most likely poaching employees from Edwin’s dying business to work at Afton Robotics.
I hope this could help clear up or anything about it! I know this is a bit of a yapping fest but I hope it made some sense of things!

Tell me more about the hycalon project. Now
-@phantom-w0lfbane
sure! :P
the basic gist of it: it’s set in 2023, a year after hunter’s disappearance. with no leads thus far and their friend group having become strained, luz decides to take a job offered to her by philip, who says he wants to help. she hopes that a night shift job in the last place hunter was seen will give her time to investigate on her own and help her find some clue as to what happened. and, hopefully, that’ll lead her to finding hunter and finally bringing him home. nothing goes as planned obviously
and here’s some random bits of info under the cut!⬇️
• hunter has a specially made fredbear plushie that plays pre-recorded voice messages when the paw is squeezed. he talks to it a lot when he’s younger, but distances from it when he moves in with philip
• luz’s favorite animatronic is freddy, he reminds her of her dad. her second favorite is foxy
• all the main animatronics are still in the story — freddy, bonnie, chica, foxy, and at one point fredbear & spring bonnie as well (those 2 were removed following the MCI/closure of the diner, and were not brought back when it re-opened). the puppet also has a role, but it looks and acts a bit different from how it does in the games
• its a crossover between toh and fnaf, but it doesnt follow the exact plot 1:1 from either media. its a mix of what i like about both and then some other things i added because i thought it would be fun or made the story work better :D
• the characters with the most development/importance in the au so far are hunter, luz, collector, and belos
• all the palismen are in the au as pets!
• here’s one of the first sketches i did for hunter’s current au design. him being a wolf was one of the very first things i knew i wanted for the au even back in 2022 when it took place during security breach era !! in the oldest version he was a blonde wolf animatronic in the pizzaplex lol. i think his name was something like wittebane wolf???? idk i couldn’t make it work😭
Tumblr media
• the diner was opened by philip and caleb in 1999. philip deals more with the business side of things and caleb with entertainment. they both have a hand in the animatronic’s creations
• on the name of the au — halcyon is defined as “denoting a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful”. this comes up ….. a lot in the au, and the desire for that “better” point in time influences the way the characters think & their actions throughout the story for better or worse!
and that is all i got right now! that isn’t like. “spoilers” for the au anyway lol

I am a “Gregory was never involved with Ruin” truther to be completely honest.
He wasn’t the one who sent Cassie the distress call message in the first place. He’s been missing for a while from what the missing posters of him imply and just how destroyed the Pizzaplex is. Considering he almost certainly went missing in whatever shut down the Pizzaplex, and just how thoroughly destroyed and graffitied the building is and how much worse the animatronics have gotten in condition.
And to be perfectly blunt I don’t think it’d be possible for him to be the one contacting Cassie in any of the endings, on the radio or in the elevator.
Radios don’t work underground unless it’s from very short range because rock blocks radio waves. So who ever was talking to her over the radio always had to be pretty close by in order for her walky-talky to be able to receive the signal.
And when “the real Gregory” starts talking the first thing he says is that he’s not in the building, but that message itself is coming from the walky-talky. Basically contradicting itself. That can’t be the real Gregory on the radio if he isn’t close by, because radios have basically no range while underground. Because it also insists that “Gregory” isn’t in the building, and hasn’t been there all night.
Not to mention "Gregory” somehow being able to track where Cassie is and direct her when he’s not in the building. Implying he somehow managed to remotely hack into the Pizzaplex’s systems, in order to get access to the cameras to see where Cassie is.
I 100% think someone other than Gregory dropped the elevator, because it just flat out doesn’t make sense for Gregory to have done it. Or have the ability to do it from outside the Pizzaplex
My current running theory is that this was all planned out by either the Mimic, GlitchTrap, and/or BurnTrap, depending on if they’re connected or flat out the same entity. In order to try and turn Cassie into the new Vanny.
I am just going to treat them all like the same thing, and call them MimicTrap, because even if they aren’t the exact same thing, I still think they’re all rooted in the same goal of being the new William Afton.
You see MimicTrap’s last successful minion, Vanessa, got deprogrammed and freed by Gregory, meaning the eternal work of Afton killing children in Pizza restaurants could no longer continue.
And that’s not something MimicTrap is alright with no matter what exactly the basis and context of his existence is. Afton’s digitized ghost returned from hell by way of Fazbear Ent’s penny pinching, a Mimic program that inadvertently got trained up on Afton’s serial killing ways either by observing Afton directly, or the Mimic getting fed information about Afton’s crimes by Fazbear Ent in order to create Help Wanted.
All of that is irrelevant to what the thing’s goal is: Continue William Afton’s serial killing legacy, which is easiest to do with a human puppet to do so.
Animatronics are big, clunky, obvious, and only permitted to be in specific locations, humans don’t have those kinds of draw backs. Humans blend in with the populous, and roam free without restrictions be they mechanical or by human expectation.
[Animatronics can’t leave their designated pizzerias, that would weird out and alert everyone that something weird was going on.]
Now why would MimicTrap choose Cassie as his new minion/victim? Because she’s the ideal new Vanny.
She’s familiar with FazTech and the Pizzaplex due to her dad working as a technician there, and Cassie herself spending a lot of time there. Cassie was a daycare kid, and had her previous birthday party there.
Cassie is a lonely but loyal child who’s only [human] friend, who MimicTrap has accumulated enough data to convincingly replicate, has gone missing. So MimicTrap has something to lure Cassie deep into the Pizzaplex with, it has leverage.
[Just like the Fruity Maze girl and her dog, he’s using a child’s close attachment to something to lure them away to a secluded location, by pretending to be the child’s friend.]
So she has skills/knowledge that would be useful for MimicTrap’s minion/puppet to have (being able to mess with/manipulate the Animations just like how Vanessa herself could).
MimicTrap also has something that he can use to lure her into position, and leverage against her in order to get himself free. Along with trick her into interfacing with the V.A.N.N.I. mask and get her the ocular implant that ties her directly into the network.
Gregory, or at least the promise of rescuing Gregory. Cassie’s only human friend, who is, as far as she knows, missing.
All that to say, I think MimicTrap faked “the Real Gregory” betraying Cassie at the end of the game, in order to get Cassie to hate Gregory or at least not trust him any more. Meaning that if Cassie ever encountered Gregory again after this, which is pretty likely if he’s still running around with Freddy’s head, Vanessa, and looking into Fazbear stuff, she wouldn’t trust him.
She wouldn’t trust the only person, to have ever gotten one over, on any form of William Afton, and Survived. The one who escaped, the one who took out the corrupted animatronics, the one who freed MimicTrap’s previous minion and shut down it’s hunting grounds for who knows how long.
This combined with Cassie’s attachment to Roxy, who already hates Gregory for taking her eyes and wrecking the Pizzaplex, means she almost certainly wouldn’t believe anything Gregory said or tried to do to help free her in the event of them meeting again.
Which also plays into MimicTrap’s plans, which I think changed when Roxy intervened. Originally I think MimicTrap was just going to go fully Vanny on Cassie and just take over her brain/body the way he did Vanessa by using the V.A.N.N.I. mask. This changed when Roxy tried to fight the endo MimicTrap was inhabiting.
This girl had Roxy’s loyalty, even after she’d shut the animatronic down. And MimicTrap had already altered Roxy (and the other animatronics) programming once, back when he had Vanny under his thrall. Now that he was free and had access to the network once more, and was no longer being stone walled by M.X.E.S. he could do so again.
So what does he do? He ensures she’s trapped in the Pizzaplex with him and Roxy, while also ensuring to poison Cassie’s friendship and bond with Gregory.
Roxy becomes the good guy by being her only remaining friend and “protecting her” from MimicTrap (who’s not trying to attack her anymore), along with affirming her new hatred/dislike of Gregory. MimicTrap starts slyly altering Roxy’s code and Cassie’s perception of reality via the V.A.N.N.I. mask to mold her into his new minion, and Cassie falls even deeper down the rabbit hole.
So yeah those are my thoughts.

Okay, okay, some small rambles. I don't have a lot yet but still! So, new FNaF AU from yours truly, Hyena. Currently called "Fazbear's Fantastical Circus" AU, I'm thinking the circus itself has a more full name of "Fazbear's Fantasical Circus of the Forgotten." Now, the general plot line idea I have (as always, details are subject to change, as this is still very early in the ideas stage.) The story starts around the event we learn about in SB/Ruin, about how Cassie's birthday went. Though in this AU, rather than just meeting and becoming friends with Gregory... While looking for a place to hide in the Pizzaplex from Roxy and the other animatronics trying to mask the blatant absence of her friends, Cassie wonders if anyone would even notice at all if she just vanished. Soon after stumbles upon an area of the indoor amusement park she's never seen before! Following the long, strange hallway eventually leads her, back outside? But this sure doesn't look like the Pizzaplex parking lot, it doesn't look like a parking lot or the outside of the Pizzaplex at all really! Or anything familiar for that matter. She soon finds herself in a strange and fanciful world inhabited by creatures that reminder her quite a bit of Freddy and his friends but they're certainly not animatronics, nor are the entirely unfamiliar faces among them. Question is, is everything as wonderful as it seems? And is there a way for her to get back home? As for the Characters and designs: Cassie will retain a fully human design, though in style and such it'll likely differ a bit from her AWLB and WWLWWF AU designs, as for the others. 1. I don't plan on having any "repeat" characters in the Circus (basically, just the initial versions of each character. so while there's Freddy, there's not ALSO going to be Funtime Freddy, Nightmare Freddy, Glamrock Freddy, etc. ) Any characters the primarily go by a different name even if they're technically of the same "set" may be included (i.e. Foxy, Roxy and Mangle would all be counted as separate characters despite all being "Foxy" adjacent.) I don't know what all characters I'll end up including, but off the top of my head, this means that aside from the original 4, I count the following as potential characters who may get a Circus design for the AU: Puppet, Mangle, Ballora, Baby, Sun, Moon, Springtrap, Nightmare, Lefty, Roxy, Monty, most book exclusive animatronics, MXES, Orville, Mr. Hippo, Happy Frog, El Chip, Nedd Bear, and so on. 2. A few of the human characters will be in the circus, though I have plans not to give them entirely "Human" designs, for lack of a better way I can think to put it, they'd have sorta "Sphinx" like designs- mostly anthro-like designs but with human facial features and structures. I also plan for all characters in the circus to have mostly humanoid anatomy. (I wanna practice my figure drawing and anatomy with these too!) 3. I'm not going to make set refs too quickly, so designs will fluctuate a bit as I draw them, I also want to be more attentive with adding ornate details and such to outfits and such. :3 4. I am absolutely not an artist capable of hyper realistic art lol, but I do plan to try and study photos of animals more to get the facial features of the non-human characters a bit closer to the actual animals they're based on. Again I'm not sure I'll really give this one a proper fic just yet or if it'll just be art and little small written snippets. It won't cut into me finishing AWLB part 2 either, that's still in the works even if its slow. My motivation for that fic comes and goes something fierce ^^;
Anyway! That's my new AU ramblings for now, I'm gonna work on finishing that first art piece for it, and then I've got one more in mind I wanna do! :3
Permission to ramble just a lil bit about the (very few) details/aspects I'm thinking on for my newest FNaF AU? (Fazbear's Fantastical Circus AU) (I'll take a single like as permission lol)

WELCOME HOME AUS
Henlo Henlo!
I have a few Welcome Home Aus in mind, and 1 is in the making already! But i have a few here so i just have to blurt it out so i wont forget about them 😭
WH SHOWMAN AU:
• This au is basically Welcome Home mixed with my absolutely favorite show! The Greatest Showman! I will have to remake the plot, but the jist of the lore is there but i do have to add some or edit some.
WELCOME HOME DAYCARE (ANIMATRONIC AU) :
• Besically a FNAF take on Welcome Home! The crew will be animatronics of Welcome Home Daycare!
WH DIAMOND AU:
• Yes by the title of this au, Its a Steven Universe Welcome Home au! I will change some of the plot from the steven universe, i will base some of the lore from the show since it was my inspiration to this au.
WH DESSERT AU:
• Its just Basically like a desert version of the crew! Think of it like Cookie Run Kingdom! Its still the original WH, its just that they are all desserts!
WH CORRUPT/E̶̜̒̓̄͊̈́͘R̸̡̗͓̗̈́́̂̋̀̅̕R̶̺̳̙̀O̵̺̙̗̼̟̓̎̇͋̿́̚̕̕̚͜R̷̡̞͓͙͕̝͙̯̆̇̄͛͘̚̚͝AU: Forgotten Memories
• Ę̶̜͖͇̘̹̒̓̄͊̈́͘R̸̡̗͓̗̈́́̂̋̀̅̕R̶̺̳̙̀O̵̺̙̗̼̟̓̎̇͋̿́̚̕̕̚͜R̷̡̞͓͙͕̝͙̯̆̇̄͛͘̚̚͝....ʀᴇʟᴏᴀᴅɪɴɢ ɪɴꜰᴏʀᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ..
Weird..what happened there.. Oh well!
This au is a little different from the rest..While the others will have ocs of mine included, this one has an specific oc that will be very dear to me. Basically a little protion of RL me will be in my oc.
The original WH but with a little twist- WH is a puppet show, but what if someone came before them? Can the crew save them? Or will it slowly cosume all of them or will they be able to find them and solve the problem of the mysterious glitching area, their little community has.
WH BOOK OF LIFE AU:
• Basically the WH cast as he character in Book of life. I already have planned who wally would be.
Either Manolo or A Male Version of La Muerte 😭💕
(UPDATE: I made a few edits in some of the AU's, especially the titles so if you see some differences, that means I changed it :>)

Bonbon...just bonbon. Just bonbon stuck to his hand. And he has to make a choice to put up with bonbon, or cut off his own hand.
(Amazing idea that I cut short due to being so fucking tired and filled with writer’s anxiety to the MAX, smashing my head into the keyboard, but not wanting to keep abandoning the damn blog. Hope this is still fine though! I really need to cut back to shorter asks again, I should have considered that before making a “series” of this. At least it’s going to be done soon!)
Sometimes, your brain tells you to do stupid things. TRULY stupid things. Henry certainly was no stranger to it, not at all. Though usually he had a little bit more… of a reputation what to uphold. ‘What is the worst that could happen?’ That was the standard question to consider, the one thing to maintain at the forefront, while also eying the potential benefits of the risks. What was the worst that could happen? Usually death. That has prevented Henry from doing quite a few nonsensical actions, ranging from petty theft of objects he never needed, to making himself a name as a Serial Killer. Nonsensical ideas, with no rewards, and potentially risky chain reactions that could lead to the destruction of his entire work. It was for the better that they had gotten buried in his mind again, Henry would have been even more upset with himself now, looking back on his life, otherwise. Yet, now? Nothing was stopping him from the worst. Death? Never heard of ‘em. If you only wake up again in the same place as you were before, death lost its biting edge, it became old news, hardly worth a second thought. And this led to more and more bad ideas. However, today’s bad decision had taken the cake. Henry had sat down behind the desk just a moment ago, the night barely even started. Only few animatronics were roaming, thus it wasn’t anything to pay too much attention to. Maybe a few interesting conversations would come out of it- but that was it. So, instead he began picking apart the office. It wasn’t the common one, it was made out of steel and darker than the regular one, instead there were blinking lights shining- pizzas made out of plastic and glass, stage lights to the sides, and the eyes of two animatronics that were- probably not capable of coming to life. Probably. A shiny mask of Funtime Freddy’s and- The Puppet. The OTHER Puppet. God, when was it that he had designed and planned out THIS robot? It must have been when- … never mind that. Prying his attention away from the frozen machine, peacefully smiling, with its eyes glowing golden- Prying his attention AWAY, he turned to the table, where the small handpuppet of Bonnie was sitting. The panel to the side, filled with buttons and levers, was also interesting, but he would look at that later. The little machine seemed like a great opportunity to inspect if the animatronics were actually still working as they should have in reality… or if perhaps they were only plastic shells, filled with only the intent of the soul that created this place. He wasn’t sure what it would tell him about the maker… however more information was always useful. It was a light machine, in general. Its weight would still surprise anyone who wasn’t familiar with machines, but all in all? A lightweight, nothing to note. Peering into the opening, the Pink Guy noted that it was unnaturally dark inside of there. Even if he held it directly under a light, there seemed to be a void inside, swallowing all light, making it almost impossible to see any mechanisms that were in place. And that was when the terrible idea hit him. Usually there were a few criteria that thoughts of his had to pass before being translated into an action, like ‘why’ and ‘how’ and ‘what if’- due to his currently freedom of basically anything, it swiftly skipped past these hurdles. Before he knew what he really was doing, he put the little bunny onto his hand- Where it instantly clicked shut, grabbing his arm tightly from the inside. The lights flickered wildly, before the lighting changed to the usual “caught” atmosphere- Quite alarming. Now, there were two options- either a creature has come in from the outside while he was disracted, or BonBon was about to maul him. Seeing as the machine started twitching and booting up, the latter one seemed more likely, so Henry watched the creature with mild interest. What a funny way to kill him. The vengeful soul was rather creative, he had to admit that much. The bunny looked from the left to the right- Then up at Henry, who stared down at him somewhat unimpressed. For a moment both sides stared at each other in silence, then BonBon crossed his arms. “Put me down.” “Oh, I would if I could and in more sense than one. But you seem to be grabbing me.” “Where is Freddy!?” “On the wall, as far as I can see.” Looking at the mask, the bunny frowned for a moment, then swiped its claw over Henry’s eye and cheek, only barely missing the eye itself. Deep red scars were left on the cheek, blood slowly starting to drip down from it, a disgusting feeling in the Pink Guy’s opinion. “NOT FUNNY!” “DO NOT ATTACK ME.” “THEN STOP MESSING WITH ME! JUST BECAUSE I’M SMALL YOU THINK YOU CAN MESS WITH ME, HUH!?” Again he tried to attack, Henry only barely being able to hold him back. “I CAN EAT YOU. I CAN HURT YOU. AND I WILL IF YOU DON’T TELL ME WHERE MY FREDDY IS!” “I DO NOT KNOW.” “THEN FIND OUT!” “IF YOU STOP ATTEMPTING TO HARM ME, I MIGHT.” Finally, Henry was able to let go of the bunny, it wasn’t trying to rip him into pieces anymore. God, that little rat was a little stronger than he liked. “Last time I saw Funtime Freddy- or at least a thing somewhat resembling him- he was in the vents. Thus, the choice- do you want to let go of me and inspect them, or do you want to stay here and search the other rooms first?” BonBon- Benjamin, right? He thought he could remember him being called Benjamin before- looked at him angrily again, then his ears dropped. “I- don’t- I can’t! I don’t know how to! I think YOU did something to make me unable to let go, this isn’t my fault!” Finally, the aggression that had started to build up inside of him subsided, as he recognized this behavior easily. Benjamin was still a child, probably has not been very old when taken and not having been dead for more than a year or two. Raising his other hand, he tried to calm the boy down. “Alright, alright… I did not do anything, but if neither of us can separate from the other, we might have to look together. Would that be okay with you, Benjamin?” Wrong thing to say. “Wh-Who told you my name?! You don’t have a RIGHT to use my NAME-“ Something within Henry SNAPPED, the aggression returning, double as strong. “Please, CALM DOWN.” Finally, this seemed to shut him up. Perhaps it was the heightened aggression in his voice that helped- and while Henry didn’t enjoy trying to scare those weaker than him, this time it seemed to be necessary. This seemed to be the damn reason why that bear was borderline mad and always happy to throw this thing around. Looking at the little thing the man slowly shook his head, then took a deep breath. “Are you calm now, Bon? Good. Good. Amazing.” His tone had changed now, much sharper and colder than before. If it worked, it worked. “Let us have a nice walk now. A nice, long walk, you and I, both of us, maybe we will find Freddy, maybe we will not. And you know what, while we have this walk, we could also have a nice long talk about you. What brought you here, specifically.” “I- I don’t want to-“ Abruptly Henry moved his right hand, where Bonbon was located, almost smashing it into the wall. “Oh. I seem to have slipped. How CLUMSY of me. What were you saying?” It was a bluff. Of course it was. He wasn’t so pathetic as to try and harm a kid. But he also felt sick and tired of being in such a ridiculous situation. For a moment Bonbon stared at him nervously, his jaw slightly tremble, as he was caught between wanting to try and live with the situation, in hopes of it not getting worse, or if he should lash out, here and now, trying to kill the human he was attached to. “Only a little walking and a little talking and maybe we will find Freddy too. Do you not want that?” The easy way out. Old habits die hard. Most people preferred the devil that they knew. Including returning to familiar situations again and again, reenacting them, even if it had hurt before. The small machine pressed its ears against its body, clearly distress, but finally he nodded wordlessly, drawing a smile out of Henry, who was now more than willing to pretend he hadn’t very obviously threatened the kid before. “Fantastic! I am sure we will have a lot of fun. First and foremost, I would like to know, what is the last thing you remember from before waking up here…?” Maybe he would be able to make it up to the bunny a little while on the go. He did somewhat feel bad for him. They slipped outside the office. No animatronics in sight. And Henry for once was looking forward to a long night.

Just comparing two cartoons I love
I understand that nobody asked in any capacity, but here I go anyway:
It feels fair to compare Ducktales 2017 to Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2018), not only because they're only about a year apart and truly, what is a year, but also because they
1. Both use this style that looks like it jumped straight out of a comic book. Okay, it's mostly the solidly inked shadows, but it gives me, personally, comic-y vibes.
2. They have taken what's arguably the main characters (the triplets for DT, the Turtles for TMNT) and shaken the formula up a good bit. Were the triplets formerly indistinguishable and all had the exact same personality, interests and voice actor, they are now three entirely separate entities with different traits and appearances. And while the turtles had about one defining personality trait and looked basically the same, save for the color of their masks, Rise made them different species of turtle to justify giving them radically different designs and three-dimensional personalities. Both shows faced criticism for this decision from people who cannot deal with change. Despite this, in both cases, it just works and does so incredibly well.
3. The oldest bros wear red.
4. We have two middle bros associated with the color blue who are both voiced by Ben Schwartz.
5. Both shows have a focus on family, with Ducktales especially focusing on found family and Rise on brotherhood.
6. Anime references!
Ducktales has a larger cast overall, with a lot of different characters all interacting with each other and they all have the most pleasant voices I've ever heard in my entire life. It's all solidly animated, the style is consistent and the animation is fluid, the characters are diverse and they're all lovely in their own right, except for those who aren't. The writing is top notch. Everyone feels consistent despite the large cast and it's delightful to watch all those interesting people interact with each other in their own way. The show also handles its mystery elements and occasional action scenes incredibly well, building suspense and delivering laughs and gut punches without hesitation. They juggle different tones like a professional clown, except the true clown was us, the audience, all along, for ever having doubted them.
The overarching plot of Ducktales, for its first two seasons, was mostly to uncover the mystery of what had happened to the mother of the triplets and all that would entail. Mystery and mythical elements will likely continue to be afoot for season 3.
Rise works with less focal characters, we have the Turtles, Splinter and April as well as various bad guys, but more than makes up for it with a lot of animation. A lot a lot of animation and it's all high quality. There's usually so much going on on-screen that a watching it once isn't enough to catch it all. Despite that, it doesn't feel crowded or rushed. Lots of dynamic shots and incredibly-choreographed action scenes, but nothing the thoroughly solid writing has to hide behind. Even when the baddies aren't the main concern, they're still well-rounded, interesting characters with unique abilities and motivations. Although, most of the mutants are just really feral. Still a delightfully diverse cast.
The turtles on the other hand spent their first season trying to foil their various foes, from a yokai trying to mutate all of humanity, to his mutants, to dealing with random mythical stuff, to the nefarious Foot Clan trying to reassemble the Dark Armor in the shadows. It's generally a more action-driven show, but they still find the time for some heartfelt moments.
The triplets 2.0
Despite their conventiently color-coded caps, they were really mostly the same character possessing three different bodies at a time. Well, the times of eerie The Shining like-twins, except extended to triplets, are over!
We have Huey, the oldest brother, voiced by Danny Pudi. He's a gentle, intellectual soul who values red hats, science, scout badges and checklists. Huey is arguably the closest in characterization to the original triplets, with some additional neat freak sprinkled in for flavor. He tries to be the responsible older sibling and keep his brothers under control and out of trouble. He also seems to have the most fiery temper of the bunch and should clearly not be pressed to the breaking point. He's my personal favorite and I heard season 3 will bring more focus to him, which makes me elated to hear. 888/10.
Middle child Dewey, the blue one, voiced by Ben Schwartz, who will inevitably come for all the iconic blue characters. He's very clearly the middle one, because he craves attention and validation and occasionally dreams of being an only child. Dewey is the one who started the investigation into their mom's disappearance and kept it from his brothers, partially to save them from hurt, but also because he wanted to feel special. He's the most interested in going on adventures with their uncle, but can get reckless when doing so. He's a bit of a spotlight hog, who has his own talk show that nobody watches and sings his own theme song when he needs to get hyped up, or just to fill this silence. This may sound kind of negative, but rest assured, he's a good, sweet boy. The focal triplet for the first season. 500/10.
Louie, the evil triplet, a schemer and a conman. Voiced by Bobby Moynihan.  The youngest of the bunch. While they call him evil, he's really far too lazy to cause serious harm, except for when it's his laziness that's causing him to take dangerous shortcuts, oops. He dreams of making a fortune, but without having to work for it and preferably without any responsibility either, thank you. He also occasionally dreams of being a spoiled fat cat. Despite his chill demeanor, he can be a bit of a crybaby and those tears are only fake 50% of the time. I feel like he likes getting babied, but mainly because that means there's less work for him to do. Season 2, which focuses more on him, reveals that he's actually quite brilliant, capable of seeing all the angles and giving him some chessmaster-like qualities. He needs to learn to use those abilities for good. 665/10.
Hi, she's Webbie! The honorary triplet, who also got a massive makeover, from annoying token girl tagalong to socially awkward, adorkable action girl. Be careful who you call ugly in middle school, indeed. Like a more ferocious  Mabel Pines, she has a grappling hook and years of martial arts training under her belt. Webbie can absolutely decimate you, but won't, because she's a sweet girl. Voiced by Kate Micucci. She continues to like unicorns and the color pink, but assuredly in the most badass of ways. She helped Dewey with his quest to uncover the mystery of his missing mom, but works well with all of the triplets, with Huey taking her under his wing a bit and Louie trying to get her to chill out more. Webbie is a sweetheart and I would die for her, were it not completely unnecessary, since she's more than capable of taking care of herself. ∞/10.
A lot of the supporting cast also saw updates and changes, for instance Gyro being a genius without social skills and Fenton being an adorkable scientist, but again, they work really well. They're interesting new takes on beloved characters. Even the new additions to the cast are great. In short, I love me some birds and am excited for season 3, Disney, get your scheduling together.
The Turtles 2.14.2 - I upgraded my upgrade in the middle of the upgrade
Also, these guys have seen so many different iterations in their, what, 30+ years of existence. As someone with no prior attachment to the turtle brand, I don't have a lot to say here. Leo's not the leader in this one and Raph has more personality than being angry at Leo for being the leader. Donnie is not just a random nerd spouting technobabble and Mikey has more depth than yelling the catchphrase every now and again. Apparently, this made people upset. I don't know how to help you with that.  The middle brothers exude some high chaotic energy and should not be left unsupervised, but the oldest and youngest seem fairly stable.
Raphael, the red-bandana'd alligator snapping turtle is an imposing figure. He's the oldest and therefore team leader by default. Raph has no reason to be upset at Leo, so he isn't. Despite his ferocious appearance, he's a soft guy, who likes teddies and doting on his brothers, but fears puppets. He's a bit of a knucklehead, most of his plans involve smashing things with his tonfa and he may refer to himself in the third person in the heat of the moment, but he possesses emotional intelligence, is open about his feelings and looks after his brothers. He is big and and strong, but his heart is bigger and stronger. He especially loves small animals animals, who don't usually return his feelings. RIP in F. This responsible guy is voiced by Omar Benson Miller. 300/10, very soft. Somehow both the heart and the big guy of the group.
Donatello has been upgraded from second-to-youngest to second-to-oldest, not that it makes much of a difference. His color of choice is purple and he continues in the character's tradition of being a nerd, although this time, with self-confidence. Donnie is very sure of himself and his abilities. As a spiny soft-shell turtle, he's less sure of his shell, but that's okay, he's made robotic battle shells to make up for it and his bō is the mother of all multitools. This guy can build you a tank out of a buggie and upgrade your animatronic into something to give the FNAF franchise a run for its money. He's the smartest of the four and when not focused on his phone, very focused on the mission. Due to having to deal with his bros, he can be exasperated a lot. Thinks of himself as an emotionally unavailable bad boy, even though he's just really sensitive and wants his dad or someone parent-aged to tell him they're proud of him. Theater kid. 999/10, give the middle child a hug and some coffee, you can't tell me he has a healthy sleep cycle. This sarcastic nerd is brought to you by Josh Brener.
Leonardo, Ben Schwartz's second blue character (Sonic (2020) being the third under his belt) and also his second ninja after Randy Cunningham. He's not the leader. He's still a good character. Leo has approximately 800 charisma and unwavering faith in both, his family and himself. Mostly himself though. Like Louie, season 2 revealed that he is a master of prediction and playing people like the cheap kazoo you can't tell me he doesn't have to play Darude's Sandstorm on. He dabs, he boards, he will pun you to death and back and he has an Odachi that can cut through space. Leo likes hogging the spotlight when given the chance and wants to be showered with attention and praise. Having four kids really only means twice the middle child nonsense. Leo is a red-eared slider, the original species of the TMNT, as I've been told. He's also the best at being a ninja, but usually too lazy to really apply himself. He's younger than Donnie, but tumblr suggested to read the two as twins, since they're approximately the same age, which sheds a whole new light on their dynamic and frankly, makes way too much sense. 420/10, for our memelord Leonardo.
Michelangelo, the eternally youngest of the bunch. An artiste, who puts stickers on himself, tags the lair, has a spiritual connection to his skateboard and the color orange. Mikey loves all things arts and craft, but he also tries his hands at cooking. He idolizes famous TV chefs and can do pretty much anything out of and into pizza. He's funny, without being annoying, like I feel a lot of other iterations of this character are. It's an easy pitfall for comic relief guys, but this one is more than that. If that's an issue, feel free to leave my house. Mikey is genuinely sweet and happy, optimistic and soft, but also the one brother who knows when it's time to take off the gloves and just get straight to the point. He's open about and in touch with his feelings. He's just baby. Don't treat him as one though. A lot of promo stuff says Leo has taken him under his wing, but he's had more episodes together with Donnie. Not that I'm complaining, they work very well together. Mikey and Raph are both the emotional centers of the group. Does not mind being yeeted after retracting into his shell, as box turtles may do. (Disclaimer, do not yeet actual box turtles!) His weapon of choice is a Kusari-Fundo that can turn into a fire-demon and is about as unpredictable as he is. Likes to jump and bounce around. Probably does parkour. Voiced by Brandon Mychal Smith who is audibly having a blast. 500/10, just an all around Kusari-fun guy.
For last, but certainly not least, April O'Neil, my girl, who saw an upgrade from flip-flopping love interest who was vaguely ninja-ing, but mostly damsel in distress-ing, to all-around spunky powerhouse and by God, she is glowing. Rise has her more as a big sister figure to the turtles, and I will not be told otherwise. She is independent and don't need no man, mutant or no. She has her teleporting pet, her faith in herself, her pinpoint baseball hitting skills and the a complete and utter lack of fear. Despite being a weirdness magnet, April is perfectly comfortable. She would like to be able to keep a job, maybe, but she has loving friends who respect and love her. Surprisingly good a ninja, fearless and fun. Occasionally thinks about being popular at school, but it's really not a big concern, she's not gonna throw a tantrum over it or anything. April is very chill. Not likely to be damseled. More likely to run after the turtles and clean up their messes or save them and everyone involved is fine with that.
The late 10's are really coming in to show us how dynamic and well-written female characters that aren't just "strong", but three-dimensional and relatable are done, huh?
An iconic performance by Kat Graham and ∞/10 for being the honorary better ninja non-mutant non-turtle and best big sister.
Here we have it, two older properties, having new life breathed into them to make them fresh and enjoyable. Have a new spin put on them, to better fit in with our current world. You can feel the love oozing out of every frame. At the end of the day, of course, it all boils down to taste and whether or not you like something. I gave Ducktales 2017 a go because a lot of the staff from Gravity Falls went to work on it and if you don't know me, I love me some Gravity Falls. It's a good show and I enjoy it. I recently got into Rise and while I don't know much about the people working on it, it is also a greatly enjoyable show, easily on the same level as Ducktales, if not above, yet with far less people speaking about it. Which is frankly saddening. I can only recommend the two of them wholeheartedly. If you love animation, yourself and occasionally feeling things, these are for you!

Note
Just everybody in general. Side kiddos and all.
(note: my ocs called Luna, Shadow, Poppy, Tiger Lilly and Lily are brother and sisters)
well, here goes me winging it for the first guys as I have not thought of developing them too well: William Afton: He and his business partner were the most famous in the town for their creations but he had a dark side which somehow kept hidden but it started leading to his downfall and somewhat insanity when members of his family started dying. He did the best he could but it caught up with him in the end. Crying Child: very shy and quite the ‘cry baby’, he never liked going out in crowded public spaces because either his brother and his friends would pick on him or he’d get too overwhelmed. He only started not liking the animatronics his father made when he started having nightmares about them and one day, one of those nightmares came to life on the day of his birthday, shutting down Fredbear’s Family Dinner. the big brother(?): always was a mean boy even when growing up, always teasing and scaring his little brother as he found it ridiculous to watch him cry and hide. He had the most fun in public spaces as he had his friends tagging along to do more things but everything changed when a prank didn’t go as planned for his little brother. Elizabeth: A adorable little girl, probably the kindest in the family and she always tried to cheer up anyone she saw outside or her brother mostly. William made a robot just for her but wouldn’t let her go near it but she wanted it so she broke the rule and went over, didn’t end as well as she thought it would... side children(ocs): Luna Afton: is perhaps the oldest of the side children, she is about 36, and she herself has three kids (we’ll get onto them later) which she takes care of very well, she is a weird wolf vampire mix which really doesn’t fit in which is probably why her and the others here were tossed aside. She is very kind and will do her best to give good impressions but can look scary with her armour, scars and gas mask mouth piece, she doesn’t try to be but can’t help getting in fights. Shadow/Ryan: he is a full on demon, he can be a bit of a jerk and was to C.Child and the B.Brother when living with them and so was told off quite a lot but he can be pretty chill and relaxed at times, is somewhat scared of Luna since she’s pretty much the mother figure of them all. Tiger Lilly: a half demon, she is...interesting as she has four different personalities, normal bubbly, killer, demon and watcher. She was always in the bubbly personality when talking with either the C.Child or  Elizabeth and would turn killer when around the B.Brother and then demon around father. She can’t feel pain in bubbly or watcher but can in killer and demon, which Will found to be interesting and somewhat useful.. Poppy: a demon angel, she is perhaps the most innocent little girl ever and was the best friend of C.Child and Elizabeth and would try her best to be friends with B.Brother but he always pushed her away, Will found her quite annoying and would on multiple occasions threaten her to tone down or he’d show her what his creations could do, that always made her calm down and hide away. Now she is constantly happy and being all bouncy, she gives nicknames to just about everyone. Kira: she is one of Luna’s children, she is a six horned demon and may look terrifying but is actually pretty chill, she is usually seem outside protecting Poppy from harm or playing games with her. She had not gotten to meet the other members of the family until it was too late so she doesn’t have any history with them but she just remembers Luna telling her that father/grandfather wasn’t a good person. Scard: he is one of Luna’s children as well, he is a literal half angel half demon and it’s so bad that his face is sewn down the middle just so the demon side doesn’t try to take over constantly but the two sides do get into arguments a lot and it’s sort of funny to watch a guy basically have a argument with himself. The same thing for Kira goes with Scard. Chris:...don’t quite know what he is, he looks human yet he can make weird dolls that kind of act like voodoo dolls? Due to that, Poppy nicknamed him ‘Puppeteer’ since it suits very well. Luna isn’t even sure he’s actually her son but she accepts him as it anyway. He may have come over when the others were all long gone but somehow he knows and..and it’s creepy. Oh and he also looks like a literal ragdoll.. Lily: she is a small half demon, she...she isn’t meant to be alive but she is somehow. She was killed by Will when she was just 3 but when her twin sister turned 14(Poppy), she suddenly came back and she only remembers the happiness, nothing else, she has no idea what the others have to go through now because of the reputation left behind.

Harry Potter Trip
On Thursday the 7th of December I went on a college trip to the Warner Brothers Studio Tour of Harry Potter.
I am putting this on my blog because I felt it was worth a mention as I learned a lot, from costumes to animatronics and sets to props. This day was amazing and jammed packed with everything anyone with a passion for Film and TV could know.
Let me just start off with that I understand that not everyone likes Harry Potter, that is totally fine but this Studio Tour is really worth going to as it make you feel you are apart of this story that has come to life because of a lot of talented people and I some day hope that I will make something like this happen in my life.
The Start
Now I cant really tell you what happens at the very start of the tour because then I would be ruining something for the people who are planning on going or are wanting to go, but i can say the way that it is done is very life like and is a very out of the box idea, this was my second time at the studios but I was with a friend who had never been before and he was speechless and didn't expect what happened at all, the start makes you really feel your in a movie and it gives you this feeling that makes you never want to stop smiling.
The Costumes
This was one of my favorite things about the studios, you can get right up close (But not touch) to these perfectly detailed costumes and see how beautiful and amazing they are in person.
Some of these costumes take months to make and design. The costume at this very moment I cant get out of my head is Hermione’s Yule Ball dress from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
It was designed by Jany Temime who is a french costume designer. She felt that this dress was the most important costume in the whole film because this was to show that this girl is growing up in to a beautiful young woman who before this point everyone thinks is nerdy.
Jany said she wanted this dress to really stand out and she didn't want it to look like Hermione had borrowed this dress from her mother or sister, she wanted it to be completely hers and to show that yes she is always with boys trying to defeat Voldemort but there is still a small part of a girly side in her hense the pink and purple thrills on the dress.

The Animatronics
This part of the tour was so exiting because most of the moving creatures you see are made either as a model or a moving animatronic.
Animatronics are by definition “use of robotic devices to emulate a human or an animal, or bring lifelike characteristics” and so this is pretty cool in my opinion.
There where so many used in the franchise but my favorite animatronic is of course Buckbeak, this particular animatronic took various vet and even physiologist and also Dermot power animal references to get this animal right.
Now Buckbeak is a Hippogriff which is half eagle and half horse, BuckBeak was designed by Nick Dudman who also designed make-up effects and also did creature design for the whole Harry Potter franchise.
For Buckbeak he wanted him to look like a soppy teenager and so in the movie is shown to be the average size or a teenage horse should be, along with this some of buckbeak's feathers are out of place to show the he can really be bothered to clean himself.
Most of Buckbeak is unfortunately CGI even though they did make so many  animatronics for this creature, the main struggle for animatronics is that they cant really fly and so when Buckbeak is seen flying though the air, in production they have put Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) in front of a green screen and put him on this basic green body of a molded horse back, after filming the CGI crew and supervisors will then computer generate Buckbeak and then put in him in the place of the molded horse back and put the back ground as Hogwarts to make it seem like Harry Potter is flying around Hogwarts on this amazing creature.
This is mainly the same process for most parts of Buckbeak either this or a someone with a long stick with a tennis ball would be standing in front of the actors and the Director would say this is the creature today, or they even have the head on a stick, there are a number of ways that this could have been done.

Puppetry with Dementors and Making them
Now in Harry Potter I didn't think there would be puppets as everything is mostly green screen and CGI, for the Dementors its something a bit unusual, at least it is to me.
For the Dementors the costume department and also the creature department, came together to figure how they where going to make this faceless nightmare, they came up with the idea of having a fake human skeleton covered in light black material and then putting it on a harness for someone to wear, the actor with the harness on them would then have to have a blue screen suit on as Dementors float and do not have legs.
The Director of Prisoner of Azkaban was Alfonso Cuaron wanted the Dementor to have more of a floaty effect to make people feel like they where seeing the most scary character with no face and has wasn't sure about the material it was first made with and so Jany Temime (Head Costume Designer)  had to keep looking for different kinds of black fabric to make it float correctly and make it more spooky.
Jany finally found it and then Alfonso then wanted the Dementors to be filmed underwater by a puppeteer, he found this was really effective because you got the full effector of the Dementor and also the material flowed in the right way and seeing the Dementors on screen looking so dark was really amazing and so well filmed. Also with making the Dementors puppets you can then in my opinion do more with them, as the puppeteers are in the water they are also in a way hooked up to the Dementor its self, the puppeteer's hands would be attached to the skeleton of the Demeter and if they pointed at something then the Dementors hands would point at something, I found this really cool how you could more a Dementor yourself and have fun with it underwater.
The Dementors, after being filmed underwater would then go through the CGI process for when you get a close up of them and to edit them in to the present footage for the scene they need to be in.
