When she'd first appeared publicly in her General's colors, the attention had been fit to crush her. Being so seen was new, was disconcerting, was exhausting-- but it was the only way anymore for Pyra Magna to be seen and so Jumpstream wore the paint like she wore her loyalty. Chin up, shoulders back, meeting every optic that was turned on her.

The looks changed as time passed; commiseration, curiosity and disgust all blended into pity. She could feel it as she picked through the debris of the tetherfall.

It was the last thing that mattered when she heard--
