wherein a frivolous cangse sanren gifts something to wei changze that could (& was!) mistaken as a betrothal gift by wei changze's sect heir & master, jiang fengmian. wei changze, who does well to hide her gifts & remain as modest as possible, accidentally lets this one slip into view for others to see & the news

my Headcanons for a Canon Couple that gets no Canon Exposition

it has been... about 8 months since i last Updated this series & this is my crack at who Wen Qing & Wen Ning's father might've been

i had a ridiculous amount of whiplash thinking about cssr & wcz figuring out they have a little one otw while i was drawing lwj pinup

i made brief mention of this on twitter, but everyone i'm drawing from the prev generation is being saved on the same file. that means i can toggle layers of characters and compare heights, and subsequently everyone drawn is to-scale compared to their counterparts. yixi is taller than zhu-guniang, wei changze is taller than both but lankier too at this point because he's at the tail end of his teenage years (on the cusp of turning 19 iirc from headcanons) and hasn't bulked out yet. not that he really will, he'll get a little top heavy. dorito shaped. likewise this means that with all the nie & lan & wen & jiang wips saved on the same file, i've surpassed 90 layers already and the file threatens to implode regularly. likely i'll have a height-chart by the end of this

fun fact, by the time i started drawing the og xiao laopo, i'd already thought of a name for her. i was just too scared to put it on her card, but since i've already given madam lan a name and committed to it, little wife gets one, too

headcanon:

wei changze writes back to lotus pier (& to the servants he worked with) to inform them of the good news! cangse sanren is with child, they're expecting an autumn birth if all goes well. the main jiang family congratulates them, & the servants all throw in their advice on how to proceed. letters upon letters are sent back, & one of the recurring themes is "make sure she stays off her feet as much as possible!"

So.

no meandering or sword flying, he supposes. cangse sanren is having a riot reading the letters, & is intent on following their directions because she considers their advice as something of a challenge.

So.

how to stay off your feet when you're a Wandering Cultivator? a steed! ofc she thinks this is all for fun, so she gets the most obnoxious steed she can find to help them saunter on their journey. 10/10, would recommend getting a donkey when ur preggers if only for the effect of pretending to feel faint and swooning off of it only for ur husband to catch you.
