he didn't stop to reassess his bearings, he stopped to gauge hers. and perhaps to let some Misfortune slip against her arrow and spare one of his kind-of kin. a huntsman respects the hunt, but her sustenance could come from a little bunny today instead, perhaps. he rather likes the corvids in this area. (they leave him some of said blackberries.)

alternatively, he gets to watch this warrior looking lady hit her target with nothing but the simplest type of weapon and her skill with it, and that might give him an equal amount of warm fuzzies for the day.
