remember how a few years ago a bunch of terfs on tumblr admitted to making secret non-terf sideblogs where they'd participate in fandoms and slowly frogboil their mutuals by starting out with statements that everyone would agree with, like "women shouldn't have to share space with abusers!" but then shift their definitions and shift and shift and shift over time, and keep their mutuals nodding along until suddenly they were agreeing with and spreading straight up terf bullshit, oblivious to the fact that they'd even been manipulated?

and then the terf bloggers openly laughed on their main blogs about the fact that they'd done this, and how it was so easy?

and then those posts were found and circulated and we all said, "man, i'd better keep an eye out for stuff like that because it truly goes to show that none of us are immune to propaganda!"

also, remember how this platform, like twitter, has a well documented and much discussed nazi problem which has never fully gone away?

well, this is just me saying be mindful of that. because i've now seen three posts this week -- thankfully only in the for you feed, so far -- that have absolutely reeked of antisemites trying the frogboiling tactic on well-meaning people who are horrified by the actions of the israeli government and military.

posts that were 98% something that anyone who wants the violence to stop would agree with, but then had a sentence or two wedged in halfway through that set off enough red flags to decorate a car dealership.

i'd include the most recent one i saw as an example, but naturally when i tried to take a screenshot i accidentally clicked wrong and the page refreshed and i lost it forever.

i don't really have a good summing up thing to say here, just... be mindful. don't forget that none of us are immune to propaganda, and that the shittiest people on earth will go out of their way to use your outrage over one form of violence to try and drag you into agreeing with another.

What happens when jay feels true anger? Like his careful control over his feelings snaps? (Over something non-samiel related to make it fun and more difficult for you lol) Because like- he has insane emotional regulation, and he's sharp, but he can be so cruel and vicious, and i wonder how that makes other people who know him feel? That he's capable of such destruction with a few careful words? Like samiel, his father, hird, or even jane in some way lol

I absolutely agree with you: Jay can absolutely be cruel and vicious - I think he very much has that in him, especially when faced with something he is utterly, completely, genuinely furious about. For example, I could see him being very, very angry at a person I could mention who is currently upsetting the galactic peace of the Exterior (and Interior) Circles...

I think Jay wouldn't do a lot of shouting when furious (unless of course he and Samiel are having a row), but I think instead he goes... cold. You have also absolutely nailed it when you talk about him being capable of destruction with a few careful words: that is precisely what he'd do.

I think there is a part of Jay's mind that can't switch off: that hoards information and tidbits and analyses situations and - more importantly - people. It makes him very good at his (ex) job, but I think on a more dangerous level, it makes him very, very capable of ruthless precision when he loses his temper, to the point where he will tear someone (or something) apart very efficiently, weaponising the things he has observed against them, and he almost never needs to use physical violence.

As for how others feel about it... well. I mean, we all know Samiel is quietly having a breakdown in a corner about his beloved being so unbelievably gorgeous when decimating people (Samiel is... very much on board with a Jay that could have the galaxy on its knees). Daimion would, I think, be both delighted that his son has such a strong soul mate, but also a little cautious, because unlike Samiel (and his rose tinted glasses), Daimion is very aware that a man who is capable of the damage that Jay can do when angry, is someone that you need to keep on side. I think Jane would be unpleasantly surprised (because she's really only ever seen the 'nice' side of Jay), and I think it would be a critical moment in their relationship: it's the point where she sees Jay 'warts and all' for the first time, and she would have to work hard to reconcile that with her image of him.

As for Hird? Well - let's go with unimpressed (because when is Hird ever impressed with Jay? 🤣). She'd probably just tell him to fuck off, because Hird does not have time for that level of nonsense!
