€○v1d may have canceled all the fun formal events in my life for the last 2 years, but fancy fundraiser season is back, and I'm here for it. #butterick 6621, two ways. (slide 1) Sure it can be a quick sew out of a basic jersey knit, but you can also make it from a stretch velvet embellished with ombre sequins. (Both fabrics are from @joann_stores) (Slide 2) While I fully intend to wear a slip with this dress, I had to be a little creative with the neck, arm, and hem facings as not to stitch a line through the sequins. Soooo much hand sewing, and yes, it's a little messy in some spots. I had a deadline! (Slide 3) The pattern, #b6621, view A, but sleeveless. (Slide 4) My inspiration, Jenny Packham resort collections! The purple/silver is from her 2018 collection, the black/silver is from 2020. I’ve been on a headband kick lately to help clear out some of my yarn stash, and because they are relatively simple to make. Well, I’ve been on vacation this week and have managed to get some things done around the house. I ordered 2 new monitors for my computer. They should arrive tomorrow and one thing that has always bothered me about my setup was that I didn’t really have an actual monitor stand.

So today I built one.

Went to my local hardware/lumber store and picked up a piece of MDF, had it cut to 3′, then cut up a dowel to use as legs for the stand. I cut out 5 legs, sanded them, then painted them copper.

I used some antique screws I had to screw the legs into the stand. It’s pretty simple, but it’s a lot nicer than what I had before (monitors stacked on plastic boxes) :)

Update: The new monitors came today as well as my new mouse and camera. Very happy with the monitors and mouse (last picture). The camera left something to be desired... the images are all blurry and noisy... I assumed since it’s 8 years newer than my current camera, it’d be better, even as an entry-level point & shoot... seems like I was wrong there. Might return it for a different one.
