this is ONE year of improvement. the amount we’ve changed is crazy, and i am UNBELIEVABLY proud of it. we’ve done a lot this year and last year, and i’m happy i was able to show off how much we’ve done.

DREAMTALE TWINS HEADCANONS

- The twins used to switch clothes all the time to trick people, it was one of their favorite games to play.

- The twins used to have freckles when they were younger. Dream now hides his, and Nightmare’s have disappeared.

- Nowadays, Dream looks at himself in the mirror and sees his brother.

- On the contrary, Nightmare cannot look in mirrors or at the stained glass windows, because he never sees himself. All he sees is the monster he’s become.

- Dream had a hobby of painting back then, and wishes he had the time to get back into it again.

- Dream used to collect old trinkets, cool rocks, and other items to give to Nightmare. He still sometimes does it out of habit, only to remember he can’t give them to Nightmare anymore.

- Nightmare greets people with “welcome back” every time they walk into his office, even if it’s for the first time.

- Dream used to scream run away when Nightmare would find a bug and immediately try to put it on him. Nightmare still does it, but now he only does it to the nearest person [usually killer]. He gets very disappointed when they don’t react the same way Dream used to.

- Nightmare, stuck cooped up in his office most of the time, often finds himself looking over at where he believes Dream should be, wondering why it’s so quiet or why dream isn’t rambling about his day in the village, and he gets very disappointed when he realises his brother’s not there.

- The twins used to hold hands with each other a very particular way. They refuse to hold hands with anyone any other way. [picture will be shown below]

- Nightmare is usually always somewhat in front of Dream whenever they walk together.

- The twins often call out to each other to ask a question. They get very disappointed now when the other doesn’t respond due to not being there.

- The twins tend to do everyday things for the sake of their brother, only to realise afterward that they aren’t there. [example: “It’s cold today, I should light the fireplace to keep my brother warm.” or “I’m making food for myself, but I should make some extra for my brother in case he gets hungry too.”]

- Dream can only feel the positive effects of things like alcohol and drugs. Nightmare can only feel the negative effects. This doesn’t make the positive or negative effects go away for the both of them, but they cannot feel it.

did you know that severe sleep deprivation can cause hallucinations. did you know that epic’s nightmares aren’t just scary, but physically keep him from getting actual rest. did you know that sleep deprivation is considered a form of torture. did you guys know this. it’s important to me that you all know this.

have i ever mentioned that epic is my favourite sa allegory.

he was forced into non-consensual experimentation from a very young age. he had to learn to sit still, not argue, not speak, not fight back, be good. just to survive this cruel man that he had to call a father. he was told over and over again that he’s not a person, just a thing to be used. this exploitation of his body didn’t stop when he became an adult, it continued until gester disintegrated.

his past sets him up for dangerous and very similar situations. he’s at risk of being exploited in the same way he was before, even after his au. my favorite example of this is epic getting together with sci. sci starts with (mostly) consensual experimentation. but because epic is just soooo good for him, sci starts to take everything further and further without permission, he begins to exploit and abuse the fact that epic stays so still and quiet. praising him for how good he is. and because of epic not fully understanding that this isn’t okay or normal, he doesn’t tell sci to stop or to leave him alone, he just sits there and dissociates. like a good little thing.

i just realized that out of everyone in the chromatic crew, epic is the only one that isn’t being followed around by a ghost because he’s the only one that has only a monster soul

cross has half of xchara’s soul, killer has kasey’s [sn!chara] full soul, delta has beta’s full soul, color has six human souls

and epic has just his own soul… or half of his own soul if i go by my own lore

the idea of epic being partially mechanical is giving me more ideas. what if epic had a slight robotic tinge to his voice that only he could notice because he’s always around himself. or maybe it is noticeable, but nobody acknowledges it because monsters can have such a wide range of voices. what if his voice was suspiciously flat, not really in the monotone way, but in the way that his voice [when put into an audio editor] came out weirdly flat instead of bumpy like how voices typically are. what if he refuses to see any kind of doctor out of fear that they won’t be able to treat something that isn’t really naturally a monster. what if parts of his body were easily replaceable with even more mechanical parts. raugh so many ideas so little time

less of a hot take and more of an observation i’ve made

epic and fresh are like, scarily similar, actually.

they’re similar in how they mask, they’re similar in having a parasite inside the SAME EYE, they’re similar in said beings in their eyes being mainly purple, they’re also weirdly similar in how they feel about things [fresh just, simply doesn’t generally; epic represses any and all emotions he sees in himself making him very numb to most things]

really their biggest differences are colour palettes, fresh being soulless and epic not, and how their parasites function fundamentally. fresh is the parasite and actively harms others for its own survival, while epic is a separate entity from his parasite completely and it only harms him, nobody else.

after all, epic’s eye IS a living being, gester says it’s a living artificial weapon, but because of its rejection of epic’s body,,, does it end up becoming more like a parasite? it feeds on epic’s experiences, so i think i’d personally call it a parasite? [it’s also, so interesting to me that gester can see what the eye sees and epic can’t. maybe gester is epic’s parasite [silly joke but not fully]]
