this (semi) controversial literally came to me in a dream last night and I need to yap and get opinions :
I hc the shepards as poc possibly mixed with black and white maybe black and Mexican (???)
it doesn't matter the mix I hc them as poc and given the time period they obviously weren't treated the way people should be treated.
Segregation was signed out of law 1964 - and unfortunately just because a law is passed people's mindset doesn't change so there would still be an ABUNDANCE of rasicim and discrimination.
it was mentioned in TWTTIN briefly abt the racism and other crap that happened in this time period.
but as a mixed person - I wish people acknowledged the discrimination and things that happened instead of romanticizing it
even though I wish it never happened, acknowledging how people were treated and applying it into media and fics are important for making it canon.
⋆. 𐙚 ˚₊˚⊹♡
with that being said - I feel like writing a fic abt Ponyboy being oblivious to all this discrimination - and hanging out with Curly when He was being mistreated, and he realizes and talks to Darry and Tim about how it sucks.
controversial ig?
I need opinions

hi! so today my family said i’m going to be a liberal bc i think ppl deserve equal rights. and i also called them out on their islamphobia and rasicim. rn i’m just rlly angry at them. like, if we all agree ppl deserve equal rights why am i this “snowflake” liberal? it’s like talking to a wall at this point but i can’t just NOT calling them out at the same time. they taught me to speak up and to treat ppl the same way i’d like to be treated and get shocked when it backfires.
i hate hate hate when people use the old snowflake thing as an insult when u rightfully call them out on their ignorant comments. i’m sorry u have to deal with that in ur home but i’m v vvvvv proud of u for not standing by silently and letting it slide bc it’s not ok and as tough as it can be to call out your family on things like this, it needs to be done

UNPOPULAR OPINION CHECK
*clap* *clap*
rasicim only exists to justify slavery
feminism only exists to justify the patriarchy
homophobia only exists to justify societys toxic way of viewing love
all forms of biasim exist to justify deining human rights
all these 'issues' were only made so that we'd have something to endlessly debate about instead of addressing that these issues are in fact human right issues
we are all human and we are all in this together
it is not another 'groups' problem
feminism is not a womans problem
racism is not the other races problem
it is everyones problem
we're not addressing the fact that the reason these issues exist is cause people aren't having there human rights upheld so any issues surrounding humans is a human rights issue
we should always stand up for people even if you don't face there exact scrutiny does not mean you get to turn a blind eye
it is a human right issue

Because I live in a small village in Germany I was already in 7th grade when we first talked about slavery, not even rasicim, just slavery in the US and we were told it has stopped 200 years ago and now black people are equal. I was in 9th grade when we first spoke about Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks and then the teachers told us after Luther King got shot black people were treated equally. That's it. End of the story. No need to talk about it again. Yes, black people are not the property of Europeans anymore, great. But is that really an achievement anyone should be proud of? Yes, black people are allowed to use the toilet they want to use. But is that really an achievement anyone should be proud of? They should be proud, that they fought so hard, but that are no goals anyone should had to receive. No goals anyone should risk their life for. And I think it is disgusting that black people still have to fear they get shot by the police for just breathing. How can teachers actually tell anyone that things are fine now when they never were. Stop judging people by the colour of their skin and start judging them as people. Love the beautiful women, who sing in their gardens to their children, no matter what their skin colour is. Hate the black trans woman just as much as the white cis man who hords child pronography, is she does the same. There are good and bad people and that has nothing to do with colour. This needs to be talked about, in school, at home, everywhere. Things are not fine and we, who are privileged need to speak up, donate and be and ally.

CAS - service 12
04.06
I have no idea If this can count as CAS service however this is very important issue about witch I would like  to talk about it on my CAS BLOG. As many of you know George Floyd 46 year old afro-american man was murdered by the police man on 26th May 2020. This situation made a lot of people understand how serious is the problem of racism and made the   them realise that they don’t want to live in the world where we are all no equal because of color of your skin. If you agree with me I encourage you to support the organisation called BLM. Black Lives Matter is an international movement which campaigns against violence and rasicim around the world. If you agree with the values of BLM I again encourage you to support but not just as reading and thinking about it but to do something that really might help with the issue. On of things you can do is protest. I have already been on one BLM protest on 04.06 in Warsaw and I definitely will go there again.

I need to get some thoughts out about what is going on in the world. The love of my life is black and works for a news station. I have spent the last few days wondering if he was gonna come home from work safe. This is not really something I feel like I can talk about with him.
I never really understood how rampant rasicim still is in America until I started seeing him. But My first personal experience with rasicim was when I was 13. I was visiting my grandma who lived in New Orleans at the time. We were driving around and I saw these 2 boys (probably 16 years old or so) and I made a comment about how they were attractive. She immediately started freaking out and told me “you are not allowed to think they are cute.” They were black. She then continued to tell me that if I ever dated a black man, o would be disowned. I had decided that day that I wouldn’t date a black man.
Jump forward 13 years. I meet this incredible man on tinder. We start talking and hit if off, but because of what my grandma said when I was a kid, I don’t expect it to go anywhere. Then we meet in person. After meeting him I decided what my grandma said doesn’t matter. If she disowns next because of this man, then she does. Thankfully she has seen how wrong she was and is fine with the relationship. Now my grandpa is not ok with it and barely speaks to me anymore.
I wish that was the only experience I have had since I found my boyfriend. I am a middle school English teacher. One day one of my classes was out of control. It took us 20 minutes to read a paragraph because they wouldn’t stop talking. As a result they each had to write me a letter about respect. One student decided that he would rather write me a letter telling me how wrong I was to be dating a black man. This student wrote 2 full pages about how disgusting it was. I have never been so angry and sad in my life. I didn’t care that he came for me, I expected that. But he came for the man that I love and I wanted to scream.
I don’t fully understand what black people are dealing with right now. I never will, but I want things to change. I want to not have to worry if my boyfriend or future children will come hime that day. Or what people have said to them. I’m usually quiet about anything that may cause a reaction from people, but not anymore.

YA Novels: Middle Class
These are some amazing young adult novels that deal with characters in the middle to lower middle-class bracket. It’s important to remember these books won’t necessarily deal with problems brought on by being in the middle class but more about the struggles they face as a young adult.
Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr -- Coming of age story about a sixteen-year-old girl trying to amend mistakes she made when she was thirteen.
Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher -- Zoe has a secret, a secret she tells to her very trusted penpal. Mr. Stuart Harris who happens to be in jail on death row.
Silver Sparrow by Tayari Jones -- Set in Atlanta in a middle class neighborhood two girls get caught in the middle of one man’s deception and their families complicity.
The Skin I’m In by Sharon Flake -- When Maleeka can’t find a place to fit in or escape the bulling she becomes the bully herself.

I think the issue people have with you making a post about rasicim against white people is you have posted several actual racist confessions and didn’t feel the need to make a post about how wrong racism is and you haven’t posted it yet so people feel like you only care about racism and censure racism when white people are affected
And around and around we go.

Why not all lives?
Because black lives have been repressed and shit on for hundreds of years. No one needs to be reminded that white lives matter because they always have due to white privilege but people do need to be reminded that black souls are being crushed on a daily basis with oppression and rasicim in America. People need to be reminded that their lives matter too. That's why.
