for posterity's sake before i pass out for another hour, i just need to document that after maybe 4 hours max of rest a night for the past week, in the middle of the night i took a work phonecall in my sleep and woke up ten minutes into a conversation with someone famous on the east coast, and freaked out and hung up when they got semi-inflammatory and their assistant took over, and within 5 minutes of that @rcmclachlan messaged me, and i called her in a kind of panic that was kind of like being on shrooms in college and having a sober friend document that something entirely unrelated to the trip but still deeply fucked up happened to you and was real.

Harlequin, Pierrot and Columbine were in some love triangle where both H&P were competing for Columbine’s heart but in some renditions of the story were also drawn to each other? 😭 So Dmitry is Columbine here?

Pierrot started off as a ‘buffoon’ archetype in pantomime before becoming the embodiment of yearning and unrequited love (in the original, Columbine chooses Harlequin so there’s a love triangle between all 3 characters).

THIS IS SO 😭 I don’t think Sasha intentionally wrote them to have this level of unresolved feelings and yearning between them but there is no straight answer for any of this 😭🙏🏽

The cool thing about fiction is that you can interpret it any way u want, and I can’t see them as anything but guys that had unspoken feelings between them and never admitted it

HSR is a masterclass in atmospheric excellence. Every scene manages to develop, maintain and evolve the feeling of brutal reality pushing down on the main characters, the squad and humanity as a whole (whatever is left of it); every new setting/ location/ change of scenery keeps the same oppressive sensations but it never seems like the narration is repetitive or bland.

It's neat, it stays fresh without straying from the core of the story.
