jin with chronic pain
a thing from my rewritten destinies au!!! for those who aren't familiar with my au, jin has fibromyalgia (since i thought chronic illness/disability rep would be nice, esp in a cartoon like rcp, i'm surprised they haven't done an episode like that)
Content: Headcanons, mentions of chronic illness, chronic pain, and chronic illness struggles in general. This is based on my Rewritten Destinies AU!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jin normally stays in the Rescue Center, responding to calls, managing reports, but most of the time, not actually heading out by herself.
Why is that? Well, mostly because it's not the most easiest job to do. Going out, walking, running and functioning as a normal member of society is more than easy for the average person. But for Jin? That's a whole other story.
Chronic pain is nowhere near easy to deal with, and doing usual daily tasks can sometimes be the most challenging part of the day. So, she prefers staying in and watching over the base.
She likes using her wheelchair, as it makes it a ton more easier to get around from point A to point B. Joint pain is a bitch, so a wheelchair is very convenient to have. She also owns a pair of crutches, with a few fun stickers (Gifted to her by Helly!). The decorative images tend to fill her with a sense of warmth when she looks at them.
Everyone plays their own part in helping Jin. Poli will take over the majority of her duties, assuring that she has nothing to worry about. Roy will . and Helly will give her fun little trinkets to lift her spirits!
And Amber- oh, Amber. She is constantly looking out for her. She checks in daily to make sure Jin has gotten enough rest, took her medications and painkillers, and is basically her personal nurse.
Jin greatly appreciates the lengths her friends would go for her..
She loves making new inventions and gadgets, as it keeps her busy and entertained while staying in base. It keeps her mind off from her condition. That is, when her pain is considered tolerable. But when it gets really bad, that's when Amber, Roy or Poli would have to hold her back from straining herself even more.
Jin hates being bedridden on flare days. She knows she has to, but that doesn't excuse the fact that- 1, She's in a huge amount of discomfort, 2, is very bored, and 3, she doesn't feel... useful. A burden to her team.
The rest of the team hates that she feels that way. They care for her with all their hearts, so seeing her in pain, well, pains them too. Even more when she feels worthless.
Rather than merely responding to emergency calls, she's built a drone that allows her to assist the team during rescues, and she can control it from the base.
ok this has been in my drafts for too long but i just realised it was nearly finished so HERE HEADCANONS JUMPSCARE GRAHJSHSJSBSBS (finally) HOPE YOU GUYS ENJOYED THIS!!!!
The drone has several functions- such as retractable handlebars for people to hold on to, a small collection of tools like wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. Fun fact: The drone is large enough to support her and her weight, so she can sit on it if she wants to take a rest while it floats in the air. Helly says it's the coolest thing ever. (It is!)

Leonora Carrington - Alchemy
A major part of Carrington's craft was alchemy. She specifically practiced kitchen alchemy with the two other members of her coven: Kati Horna and Remedios Vero. She was captivated by the idea of transformations and becoming something new. It can be argued that this was because of her finally being spiritually freed through witchcraft after her tumultuous upbringing and mental health problems.
This interest in alchemy is very present in her art. A lot of her paintings feature eggs which are an ancient symbol of the Philosopher's Stone, the ultimate prize in alchemy. She includes other transformations as well such as butterflies coming out of cocoons or flowers growing, and alchemical symbols. Even the materials she used were reminiscent of alchemy. She frequently painted in egg tempera, a medieval era paint that involves mixing eggs with different pigments. Carrington has said that the act of creating the paint was like an alchemical recipe or spell.

You know, based off that one ask to you, I think I got a little bit too cruel with the events of one of my RCP AUs...
Like the existence of a large, eldritch-y centipede amalmagate of a horrific and ungodly fusion of rusty vehicle parts, a psychopathic AI, and...[REDACTED].
I'm so sorry for that mental image.
B(
H..Huh? Hold on, I don't really get it.. 'Large.. 'Eldritch-y centipede amalmagate of a horrifc and ungodly of'.. Now I'm lost again. But if you say it would be a probably bad mental image, I think I should be concerned.

Hi RCP happy Itzy comeback season!
After finally sitting down to enjoy the new dlc, I managed to calm my heart by first going back to re-read "be the wave, i'll be the shore" and getting reassurance after that final ryury scene.
It was really comforting to read Chaeryeong take her time with Ryu, and kind of "thread carefully" as to not scare her off, because after that little angst you introduced on the previous entry, I kind of went back to read it with a heavy heart and ended up second guessing Ryu's actions and words 😭 a mess.
But it’s good now, really enjoyed this new entry with chaerji showering Ryujin with their attention, as she deserves. Really looking foward to part 2 and can't thank you enough for blessing us on Chaeryeong day.
Not gonna dwelve into ryeong with the strap, she scrambled my brain, what can I say.
Chaerji teasing ryu, Yeji talking about how "her back arches" well... yeah.
I wanted to ask if dlc Ryujin likes the fact that both Chaeryeong and Yeji are bigger than her, I remember Yeji being the one who likes that ryu is smaller, but what about Ryujin? Is that somehow attractive to her ?
Yeji really busted one out while watching ryury 💀 didn’t say much but I'm sure she was going crazy in her mind. It would be cool to know her thoughts about it but... yeah.
Also, I've been taking the chaerji pill everyday with the comeback and can say that it is not for the weak! Gonna end up dreaming about that handsome Yeji running her hand on Chaeryeong's hair while she rests on her lap.
Caught some other little crumbs, like on one of Lia's scenes you can hear ryeong clearly say "where is Yeji?" even though she is not in frame. And also in the dance scene with the black outfits, ryeong slips in the grass a little and you can see Yeji check on her immediately and then they hug. And obviously can't forget the ryury hugs because ryeong gets cold so easy, they are so cute!
Thank you so much for the beautiful update RCP! I hope you’re enjoying the new songs a lot. What is your favorite b side so far? Mine is Kiss & Tell, like, hands down. Easily top 5 Itzy b side for me.
Have a great comeback season! Take care and see you on the next update!
-🧡
(sorry mobile users, tumblr is doing something funny with the format)
Happy comeback season 🧡!!
There's a method to the madness of dlc. I didn't mean for it to be angsty if i'm honest, I wanted to include what i think would have been a likely thing that crept up on ryujin. But minor spoiler alert? it goes deeper than her relationship with chaerji, but yes, no second guessing needed, ryu just needs a bit more time to figure out her thoughts to share with chaerji. :)
part 2 is in the makes!! far less emotions, much more unhinged fun times
oooo good question, ryujin doesn't lol. both chaerji don't mention it even when it's ryu turn to be the little spoon, so lets just say, chaerji keep it to themselves, maybe a quick smirk or something when their eyes meet, the teasing isn't worth a sulky ryu
oh we're gonna get yeji's thoughts during all that and i can't wait to write it ;)
yeji running her hands through chaeryeong's hair, add a little smile and a nuzzle… oh the chaerji pill is awful.
OH? i didn't catch those chaerji moment, i might rewatch… but the ryury was lovely, to no one's suprise, i love it :)
Thank you so much for reading! My favourite off the album is Girls will be Girls but bside it's Kiss and Tell too, just so punchy and hits perfectly. Thank you for dropping by, take care yourself and I look forward to the next :)

OK, since you've asked. Out of all the chaos RP aus that you have which one is your favourite, which one is the most developed and which one you'd like to set on fire and watch it burn for centuries long?
*deep breath. Starts going thru my trash hoard*
(also TW at the end: death threat to myself)
Alright, alright. I got favorites, I got mehs, I got "it's alright", and I got OH MY GOG WHY DAVE WHY
It is to my deepest dissapointment that the same AU that I had first shown to this fandom is no longer my most developed. Sorry Broomstown Redux/WTPB/POLI, but you felt like RCP + Lore + Angs rn. Worry not, I'll fix you someday.
SOMEDAY.
For real tho, WTPB/BR is still my favorite. Where I got my Blonde!Helly headcanon from, and also badass Helly, Roy being cheesy with flirting, Poli and Jin being actually related to some extent, and...SHIPPING. Still struggling over it rn actually.
For most developed, it's gotta be Modfall: a hodgepodge of my Homestuck obssession and RCP. Basically, it just started as Mod Ten, then Modded Twelve, then more lore and timeline fuckery = Modfall itself.
So far, I've got about a dozen of teenager archetypes, Homestuck classpecting and analyses, sketches of characters (including a new art style for this), and hypothetical scenarios laid out...and also the timeline. Homestuck got a fucked-up one, so why not have my own fuckery?
Also had to omit and alter a lotta people, including my own OC South (sorry my transmasc femboy gal, but I gotta use Homestuck OCs for Homestuck AUposting). I'm also figuring out on Helly's own...relationships, because surprise surpsrise he's a teenager in this AU (although the youngest one, the oldest bordering 17)
Got a lotta to talk about Modfall, but anything else is spoiler content. But just as you know: Helly and Droney are bestie soulmate thingy (aka (online) moirails) in this AU. There shall be homosexuality. There shall be trans-shanigans. There shall be casual death and another Poli to put in my body count.
And there shall be a ship both sunken and sailed at the same time. As in, Timeline A sunk, Timeline B sailed kinda thing.
As for what I wanna burn to the ground, besides the things I did with my...sexual drive exploration? And also my first FNF era?
At first, I thought of my first AU for WTPB (aka Alpha/Beta), where it's 1) an FNF mass displacement crossover, 2) transfem Helly with no rhyme or reason...and shipping him with a 17-year-old FNF character (why me why), and 3) Poli got the Bill Cypher defeat ending going on.
But....hey....I had no black sheep?! Even that Alpha/Beta is an artifact to remind me of progress, and my FIRST EVER AU literally jumpstarted my love for AUs and crossovers!
Infinite Loops/IFP!RCP: Hey—
FUCK OFF. GO KYS. PLEASE DIE. WHY DO YOU EXIST. GO TO FANFICTION HELL YOU UNFINISHED AND UNAPPROVED [TOO DIRTY FOR TUMBLR]. WHY ARE YOU HERE YOU [NOPE NOPE NOPE]. PLEASE DROWN UNDER MEMORIES ABOUT TO BE ERASED.
IFP!RCP: *whimpers*
Sorry about that...haha!
Sorry for that random "kys" thing. Idk why I even joined IFP beyond crossovers.

The Truth About IRS Settlements: How to Lower Your Tax Debt Legally
Owing money to the IRS is stressful. The threat of penalties, wage garnishments, liens, and even asset seizures can feel like a dark cloud hanging over your life. But here’s something many taxpayers don’t realize: you may not have to pay the full amount you owe. The IRS offers a program called an Offer in Compromise (OIC) that allows some taxpayers to settle their tax debt for less than the full amount—sometimes for just pennies on the dollar. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how the program works, who qualifies, and how to apply. We’ll also cover alternatives to consider and how professionals like Perfect Tax Relief can help increase your chances of success.
What Is an Offer in Compromise?
An Offer in Compromise is a formal agreement between a taxpayer and the IRS that resolves a tax debt for less than the full balance due. In simple terms, it's the IRS saying, "We’d rather get something than nothing, so we’ll accept a lower amount."
The IRS accepts OICs when it believes:
The taxpayer genuinely cannot afford to pay the full amount, or
There is doubt about the accuracy of the debt, or
Collecting the full amount would be unfair or create financial hardship.
In 2023 alone, the IRS received over 47,000 OIC applications, but accepted only around 13,000—roughly 28%. So while the opportunity is real, qualification and preparation are critical.
Do You Qualify?
To be eligible for an Offer in Compromise, you must:
Be current on all required tax filings
Not be in an active bankruptcy proceeding
Demonstrate financial hardship or inability to pay the full amount
The IRS uses a detailed formula to determine your Reasonable Collection Potential (RCP)—an estimate of how much you could realistically pay based on:
Income
Expenses
Assets (home equity, cars, savings, etc.)
If your RCP is significantly less than the total tax debt, you may qualify. 💡 Tip: Even if you don’t qualify for an OIC, the IRS offers other options like Installment Agreements and Currently Not Collectible status that can help manage your debt.
How the Process Works
Settling your tax debt through an Offer in Compromise involves several steps, paperwork, and patience. Here’s a breakdown: 1. Gather Your Financial Information You'll need to provide extensive documentation about your:
Monthly income (pay stubs, profit/loss if self-employed)
Monthly living expenses (rent, utilities, food, transportation)
Assets (bank accounts, retirement accounts, home, car, etc.)
Debts (mortgages, loans, credit cards)
2. Complete IRS Forms You’ll need to submit the following to the IRS:
Form 656 – Offer in Compromise
Form 433-A (OIC) or 433-B (OIC) – Detailed financial statement
Application fee of $205 (unless you qualify for low-income waiver)
Initial payment toward your offer (typically 20% of the offer amount for lump sum offers)
3. Choose Your Payment Option The IRS offers two payment types:
Lump Sum Cash Offer: Pay 20% upfront, then the rest in 5 or fewer payments within 5 months
Periodic Payment Offer: Pay in monthly installments over 6–24 months while the IRS reviews your offer
4. Wait for Review The IRS typically takes 6 to 12 months to review your offer. During this time:
Collection efforts are paused
Interest and penalties continue to accrue
You must continue making payments if using a periodic plan
5. Decision: Accept or Reject If the IRS accepts your offer:
You must meet all future tax obligations for 5 years
If you default, your original tax debt (minus any paid amounts) may be reinstated
If the IRS rejects your offer:
You can appeal the decision within 30 days
You may still pursue other resolution options like an Installment Agreement
How Much Should You Offer? The amount you offer depends on your net disposable income and equity in assets. The IRS calculates: Offer = [Monthly Disposable Income × 12 or 24] + Equity in Assets
Use 12 months for lump sum offers
Use 24 months for periodic payment offers
For example:
If you have $150/month in disposable income and $2,000 in assets:
Lump sum offer = ($150 × 12) + $2,000 = $3,800
Keep in mind, the IRS will scrutinize your expenses and may disallow anything they deem unnecessary (luxury car payments, private school tuition, etc.).
Common Reasons Offers Are Rejected
You can afford to pay the full amount through a payment plan
Your offer is too low
Missing documentation or incomplete forms
You’re not compliant with current tax filings
You’re in bankruptcy
That’s why working with an experienced tax relief firm like Perfect Tax Relief can make a huge difference in your outcome.

Every case is unique, and we tailor your strategy to give you the best chance of success. Alternatives If You Don’t Qualify If you’re not eligible for an Offer in Compromise, don’t panic. Other options include:
Installment Agreement – Set up a monthly payment plan with the IRS

Penalty Abatement – Reduce or eliminate penalties due to hardship or reasonable cause
Bankruptcy – In rare cases, older tax debts may be dischargeable
We can help you evaluate these options and guide you to the right solution.
Final Thoughts: Don’t Wait to Take Action

Faceclaim: Jooyeon from X-Dinary Heroes. Nota! Esto es una ficha temporal. Estoy trabajando en una carrd mas extensa.
-FICHA-
Nombre OC: Damian
Edad: 20 años (2004)
Fecha de nacimiento: 9 de Septiembre, Virgo.
Orientación sexual: Jiasexual. Si te pareces a Jia, le "gustas". Sino, no.
Clase: B
¿Cuánto tiempo lleva en Briarcliff? Nuevo Ingreso.
-HABILIDADES Y CONOCIMIENTOS-
Maquillaje, baile, tocar la guitarra.
Poner un vial, extraer sangre.
Curar y desinfectar heridas.
Coser puntos de sutura.
Poner inyecciones, encontrar venas.
RCP y primeros auxilios.
-DESCRIPCIÓN PSICOLOGICA-
*Defiende fuertemente sus ideas.
*Tímido e introvertido, recurre a RRSS e internet para hacer amigos.
*Desconfiado.
Y vuelta a empezar.
-HISTORIA-

Introducing Resource Control Policies In AWS Organizations
Tumblr media
AWS Organizations are introducing resource control policies (RCPs), a new kind of authorization policy.
Resource control policies (RCPs)
One kind of organizational policy that you may use to govern access within your company is resource control policies (RCPs). RCPs give you central authority over the highest level of permissions that your organization’s resources can have. RCPs assist you in making sure the resources in your accounts adhere to the access control policies of your company. Only in an organization with all functionalities enabled are RCPs accessible. If your company has merely activated the consolidated billing functionality, RCPs are not accessible.
Resource control policies are not enough on their own to provide your organization’s resources permissions. An RCP does not issue permissions. An RCP establishes restrictions, or a permissions guardrail, on what an identity may do with resources within your company. To truly provide permissions, the administrator still needs to apply resource-based policies to the resources in your accounts or identity-based policies to IAM users or roles.
What is permitted by identity-based and resource-based policies and what is permitted by resource control policies and service control policies (SCPs) logically intersect to form effective permissions.
The resources of the following AWS services are covered by RCPs:
Amazon S3
AWS Security Token Service
AWS Key Management Service
Amazon SQS
AWS Secrets Manager
Evaluating RCPs’ effects
AWS strongly advises against attaching RCPs to your organization’s root without fully evaluating how the policy affects the resources in your accounts. Attaching resource control policies to individual test accounts is a good place to start. You may then move them up to OUs lower in the hierarchy and, if necessary, work your way up through the organization level. Examining AWS CloudTrail logs for Access Denied problems is one method of assessing impact.
Maximum RCP size
Your RCP’s characters all contribute to its maximum size. This guide’s examples demonstrate how to format resource control policies with additional white space to make them easier to read. However, you can remove any white space, including space characters and line breaks outside of quote marks, to conserve space if your insurance size is getting close to the maximum size.
Attaching RCPs to various organizational levels
RCPs can be directly attached to the organization root, OUs, or individual accounts.
RCP’s impact on permissions
One kind of AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policy is called an RCP. Resource-based policies are the ones with which they are most closely associated. But permissions are never granted by an RCP. Rather, RCPs are access controls that outline the highest level of authorization that can be granted to resources within your company. Refer to the IAM User Guide’s Policy evaluation logic for further details.
Resources for a subset of AWS services are covered by RCPs.
Only resources handled by accounts affiliated with the organization to which the RCPs have been assigned are impacted. Resources from accounts outside the company are unaffected. Take, for instance, an Amazon S3 bucket that belongs to Account A within a company. Users from Account B outside the company are granted access under the bucket policy, which is a resource-based policy. An RCP is assigned to Account A. Even when users access the S3 bucket in Account A from Account B, that RCP is still in effect. However, when users in Account A access resources in Account B, that RCP is not applicable.
Permissions for resources in member accounts are limited by an RCP. Only the permissions granted by each parent above it are available to any resource in an account. Even if the resource owner attaches a resource-based policy that grants any user full access, a resource in the impacted account does not have that permission if it is blocked at any level above the account.
The resources that are approved as part of an operation request are covered by RCPs. The “Resource type” column in the Action table in the Service Authorization Reference contains these resources. The resource control policies of the caller main account are used if the “Resource type” field contains no resources. For instance, the object resource is authorized by s3:GetObject. Every time a GetObject request is made, the requesting principal’s ability to invoke the GetObject operation is assessed using the relevant RCP. An RCP that has been linked to an account, an organizational unit (OU), or the root of the company that controls the resource being accessed is said to be applicable.
Only the resources in the organization’s member accounts are impacted by RCPs. The management account’s resources are unaffected by them. Nevertheless, this also applies to member accounts that have been assigned administrators.
The RCP is incorporated into the policy evaluation logic to decide whether to grant or deny a principal access to a resource within an account that has an attached RCP (a resource with an applicable RCP).
Regardless of whether the principals are affiliated with the same organizations or not, RCPs affect the effective permissions of principals attempting to access resources in a member account with an appropriate RCP. Root users are included in this. Because RCPs do not apply to calls made by service-linked roles, the exception is when the principals are service-linked roles. RCPs cannot limit service-linked responsibilities, which allow AWS services to carry out essential tasks on your behalf.
Permissions must still be granted to users and roles using the proper IAM permission policies, such as resource-based and identity-based policies. Even if an applicable RCP permits all services, all actions, and all resources, a user or role lacking any IAM permission policies is not granted access.
Resources and entities that are not subject to RCP restrictions
Resource control policies cannot be used to limit the following:
Any modification to the management account’s resources.
No service-linked role’s effective permissions are impacted by RCPs. One special kind of IAM role is a service-linked role, which is directly connected to an AWS service and has all the permissions the service needs to make calls to other AWS services on your behalf. RCPs cannot limit the permissions of service-linked roles. Additionally, resource control policies have no effect on AWS services’ capacity to take on a service-linked role; in other words, they have no effect on the trust policy of the service-linked role.
AWS managed keys for AWS Key Management Service are exempt from RCPs. An AWS service creates, maintains, and uses AWS managed keys on your behalf. Their permissions cannot be altered or managed by you.

"El ABC de los primeros auxilios"
Los primeros auxilios son una serie de técnicas y procedimientos que se aplican en caso de emergencia para preservar la vida y prevenir daños mayores hasta que llegue la ayuda médica profesional. El ABC de los primeros auxilios es un método sencillo y efectivo para recordar los pasos fundamentales en caso de emergencia.
A - Aire (Vía Aérea)

Overview of MRCP UK Part 1
Tumblr media
MRCP(UK) Part 1 DETAIL DESCRIPTION seems to be related to the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) Part 1 examination in the United Kingdom. However, I do not have specific information or comprehensive details about this particular keyword.
The MRCP(UK) examinations are a series of assessments conducted by the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom (RCP) to evaluate the knowledge, skills, and competencies of medical professionals seeking membership in the college. Part 1 of the MRCP(UK) examination focuses on the basic sciences relevant to clinical practice, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and microbiology.
To provide you with a more accurate and detailed description of the MRCP(UK) Part 1 examination, I recommend consulting the official website of the Royal College of Physicians or other reliable sources of information related to medical education and examinations in the United Kingdom.
The MRCP UK Part 1 exam is the first of three examinations required to obtain the Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) qualification in the United Kingdom. It is a written examination that covers a range of topics in medicine, including anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and clinical medicine.
The exam is held twice a year, in January and July, and consists of two papers. Paper A is a multiple-choice question (MCQ) paper consisting of 200 questions, and Paper B is a written paper consisting of 10 short-answer questions.

In response.
1) 5% is significant in some circumstances. 5% being the total reduction from civilian usage because people were remote is not as big of an impact as many would make it out to be. 5% is not saving us or taking us from one RCP to another by itself. Should we strive to maintain that 5%? Certainly, but it only being 5% indicates that the effect from lifestyle changes is minimal.
2) Agreed
3) The study that our world in data cites is by Joseph Poore’s work in 2018. There is so much flawed in that study because of how they did their analysis but also because of the confirmation bias inherently in it and the conclusions fed by that bias. Poore is a militant vegan and is well known in the scientific community to either manipulate his data to support those views or incorrectly come to conclusions supporting said views. The actual conclusions of the meta analysis state that we should look for more sustainable options and improve the system, this means using things like GE and ionophores which people are scared of for no reason other than fear mongering.
One of the issues with these types of analyses is that they don’t feasibly do Birth-Death analyses properly. It’s why the author of Livestock’s Long Shadow actually retracted his study, and what people like Poore poorly base their work on. Only agriculture has B-D analyses because we can measure the inputs and outputs from day one. No other industry does that. You can do a B-D analysis for the automotive industry because you cannot measure inputs and outputs from the first day the materials are mined to the last day an automotive vehicle is disposed of.
These type of analyses also fail to compensate for the how much worse the alternatives are for animal based products. Alternatives to leather, for example, require petroleum and plastics which are measurably worse. The other issue is they these analyses also tend to do gal of water per pound of beef requirements, except you’re not just getting a kind of beef. Ever. You’re getting an entire animal where every single part has use. If we look at the most water intense crops, such as almond trees, all that you get are almonds. If you want to make something else out of it you still have to use the almond or cut down the tree itself.
Yes, animal agriculture and agriculture in general have a large impact (21-25% for global and 10% in the USA), but the alternative solutions are not better and are in fact much worse. The solutions to the impact the Ag sector has will not be solved by non-experts telling people what to do. It will be done by experts that look to improve yields while reducing inputs and negative outputs (all of which is actively occurring).
4) the slide is something easily seen and I agree that it’s there. But there is a very real “crunchy granola activist to conspiracy theorist” pipeline that is a catch all for this type of activist and person. A lot of these movements and the people within them eventually move into conspiracy theory territory, especially when people ask for citations and data and/or breakdown why said study or data is flawed.
I’ve seen a few of the antisemitic blogs make statements like “Greta was Times person of the year a few years ago, but since she linked climate change to colonialism they dropped her” or some variation thereupon.
And here’s the thing.
That’s not the reason.
Everyone dropped Greta because she offered nothing to the climate change problem.
She was a novelty as she was a child who was so singularly focused on climate change that it distressed her to the point of going mute. It distressed her so much that she dropped out of school. It distressed her so much that when she stopped being mute she started yelling at adults and it became her sole thing.
And that got her attention.
Here was a child who gave up being a child in order to bring attention to climate change.
Except we’d already had people who have been doing that for years. Again, it was just that she was a novelty because of how young she was.
Her “solutions” were also nothing new or novel.
Reduce your personal carbon footprint, switch to a vegetarian/vegan/vegetable heavy diet, contact your local politicians, etc…
These are all things that climate activists have said for years, and many of them are not actually solutions.
The whole claim that the individual civilian reducing their carbon footprint en masse will help reduce emissions was debunked during the pandemic when everyone’s footprint went down due to us all being stuck at home and it did almost nothing.
That’s when we all realized that the main emitters were massive corporations, businesses, and the energy sector and that the whole “reduce your footprint” narrative was coming from them in order to avoid responsibility. And the activists had been eating that up for years and spreading it around like gospel. They had been duped.
The whole thing about switching to a plant based diet makes no sense when animal agriculture is maybe 50% in total of the entire agricultural sector which is between 10-20% of global emissions. This one is particularly maddening because a lot of these activists like to blame Animal Agriculture as the number one emitter and/or the worst thing ever. Except it’s a percentage of one of the smallest sectors and literally does not have, and cannot have, as big an impact as the energy sector. Furthermore, all the alternatives to products that are made from the animal sector are much worse for the environment (e.g. plant based leathers need to be paired with petroleum/plastic based products and are not sustainable). These are the same people who scream that, typically, scream that GMOs and conventional Ag is bad while organic is the greatest thing ever, all the while they ignore the limited yields and increased inputs of organic.
Essentially they’re asking you to believe that a percentage of one of the smallest sectors has a bigger impact than it actually does and that you the consumer can fix it.
It makes no sense, and people have caught on to that.
And everyone has been contacting their politicians about this stuff for years.
The reality is that activists like Greta offer no actual solutions.
If she had actually gone to college and decided to pursue a career in climate science and relevant fields in order to bolster her work and develop solutions then maybe she’d be taken seriously. But she has a high school education and offers nothing more than an ignorant juvenile take on problems. Her solutions are not solutions, they’re just what ignorant activists shriek about because they don’t know what to actually do. They can’t actually understand the science, the mechanisms, and the methods because that takes years of education and experience.
If at most you have is a high school degree and you’re not furthering your education in any way then there is no way you’re going to actually provide an answer that the experts aren’t already working on.
The solutions to the issues are developed by experts with years of education and experience who are trying to address specific problems. Animal Agriculture scientists specifically are developing feeds to reduce methane emissions, Agricultural scientists specifically see certain inputs and outputs and want to improve yields while decreasing problematic outputs, ecological scientists are working on solutions to address the Ag/Wild environmental interchange. Scientists and experts work for years on a singular problem or set of problems in their particular field as it relates to climate change and develop a solution or way to reduce the impact of the issue.
It’s never an activist screaming that something needs to be done that fixes the issue, because it’s already being worked on. The activist is only coming from a place of passionate ignorance that they think is informed, but we’ve known about this stuff for years and it’s honestly wearing thin.
That’s why Greta is no longer the “darling of the Liberals” or whatever else you want to say as a tongue in-cheek barb.
She was a novelty that eventually lost its novelty and everyone saw her activism for what it really was: the same recycled fear mongering we’ve heard before.
That’s why she’s jumped ship from climate change to the anti-Israel crowd. The climate change community wants you to actually be educated on the topic and provide solutions, her new group does not. They want you to say the same canned lines, cliches, and catechisms. They don’t want a peaceful solution, but a violent one. They don’t want to provide a narrative based upon the vast nuances of the historical fact, but one that is steeped in antisemitic propaganda that trivializes and reduces everything to a black and white perspective.
That’s much easier than being educated and providing hard fixes that are incremental and occur over time. Much easier to scream about the omnicause and that there’s one “final solution”.
