it’d  merely  been  hours.  long,  torturous  hours  since  they  forcibly  parted  ways.  so  much  had  happened  since  he  watched  her  drop  to  what  he  presumed  was  her  death,  and  yet  there  she  was.  mind  numb  from  ruthless  interrogation  over  what  exactly  happened  in  blackwood  pines,  no  clear  answers  as  to  whether  jess  had  been  found  or  not,  mike  was  physically  and  emotionally  drained.  it  was  her  voice  that  hit  him  like  a  tonne  of  bricks,  never  mind  her  words.  through  all  the  emotional  turmoil  and  exhaustion,  he  was  most  likely  bordering  delirious  which  resulted  in  a  snicker  emanating,  weak  smile  stinging  from  a  split  lip.  “ this  ugly  mug ?  i  mean,  guess  i  got  this  gruff  bear  grylls  thing  goin’  for  me  now,  but ... ”  probably  looked  insane,  the  pair  of  them  an  absolute  mess  from  the  night’s  ordeal,  her  shoulders  tucked  under  his  arm,  cradling  her  against  his  side  while  they  waited  in  the  police  station  for  whatever  came  next  in  this  absurd  process.  but  that  was  hardly  the  first  thing  on  his  mind.  “ that  wait ?  never  again.  i  won’t  ever  let  that ... again. ”

A small smile shaped itself between both corners of Iris's lips." I can cheer to that" The words skimmed from the rims of her mouth in an amicable tone. Iris and Lois were by no means strangers but had not spoken to each other, apart from trivial work talk. Both were trying to survive in a male-dominated field where women's stories are not taken as seriously. When Iris first began working for Central City Picture News, most of her ideas were rejected. It has improved over the last couple of years but not enough. 

 " Originally, I was writing about the epidemic crisis spreading globally, but that isn't my story anymore" A small sigh followed her remark. When she first got her big break in reporting, Iris only wrote about 'The Flash,' but as an established reporter, her stories vary now. " Back  to square one."  Iris's chocolate-colored eyes glanced at Lois as she casually placed both hands on the edge of her hips. " What about you? Need any help with research. I'm itching to get out of the office."

"YOU KNOW, i'm not really great with girly friendships, iris..." lips were forming into an amused smile, "but, i think this is the start of a BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP !!" wasn't it just a match made in heaven ?? iris west and lois lane, both trying to bust through the glass ceiling at the jobs. why were women always pitted against each other when they could JOIN FORCES. in lois' humble opinion, she could do great things with iris. "so, tell me, what big story are you breaking THIS WEEK ??"
