Listen, tensions are at boiling point rn.

The C-19 pandemic is ruling our lives, killing loved ones, taking jobs and livelihoods, with no end in sight. Systematic racism and murder has erupted in angry riots.

People are struggling with physical confinement, financial hardship, uncertain futures and a barrage of horrific news. Confinement, solitude, sickness, fear, anger.

They're likely to erupt over tiny things because they're at the limit of what they can cope with and that little thing is one thing too many. And we're likely to react aggressively for the exact same reason. We're done. We've had enough. We're at our limit.

It's natural in times like these, but to protect our own mental health, the health of our antagonist, and our community, we would benefit from bearing this in mind before posting and responding.

We're all at breaking point. We're angry, we're scared. Please remember that both you and others are struggling and need a little extra understanding and diplomacy.

Think before you post. Does it need to be said right now? Are there more important things to direct your anger towards? Scroll past posts you'd normally argue with. Block those who consistently upset you. Don't fall into the trap of a fight.

Ask people if they're ok. Listen. I guarantee 90% of us are not ok.

We're tense. We're all in some degree of fight or flight mode. But please think before you fight. Our community can be a safe space from the ugliness of the world. But not if we're fighting over the little things. Be mindful. Be gentle. If it fails, just scroll to a more positive post.

I love you guys. I'd love for us all to be safe here, be happy, be friendly. Of course I can't tell you what to do, I can't force change, and I don't want fake positivity. But I can try to promote understanding. I can try to alleviate tensions.
