#real axis of evil vibes there

I need to make some sort of graph for the Leverage characters who wear a suit where one axis is "how put together do they look" and the other one is "how put together are they really?"
one end is Nate, who constantly looks like he put his clothes on in the middle of the night while blind drunk even when he isn't playing a creepy guy in a horrible hat, but is so many steps in front of everyone that it makes up for the outfit.
Other end is Harry, who probably has a closet full of well made suits (points off for some of his shirts, tho. Real 'relaxing on a porch with a mint julep' vibe on some of those) and a head empty of plans. I love him dearly, but he is not an expert in non-evil lawyer crimes.
Sterling is somewhere between them. Smart enough to know what Nate is doing, but always a few steps behind him. Looks pretty put together, but points off for the exact opposite reason from Harry (He owns about ten copies of the same suit). Also, it's all two piece suits and I'm a sucker for vests.

Kaiju Week in Review (December 31, 2023-January 6, 2024)
Episode 9 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was a huge one, wrapping up the flashback storyline with gut punch after gut punch and dropping half the cast into a new realm of the Hollow Earth, Axis Mundi. I'm being vague because there's a very big twist at the end. Chomping at the bit for the finale.
youtube
@quazies has graced us with another animated Godzilla short, this one focusing on Rodan and wringing surprising emotion out of the daffy bird. And I continue to get a kick of out this Animal Crossing-esque Monster Island. This is their fourth Godzilla video; if you're unfamiliar with them, correct this immediately.

The new issue of TotalFilm has a sizable article on Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. My notes:
Trapper (Dan Stevens) is a sort of Titan veterinarian.
Emphasis on filming in real places; the Hollow Earth is a mixture of Greenland, Iceland, Hawaii, and Australia. Also mentions some sort of physical Kong prop and another full-sized HEAV.
Apex isn't in this story "in a literal way," but Monarch seems to have copped some of their tech; Kong's B.E.A.S.T. Glove is implied to be one example. Sort of disappointing that the Monsterverse continues to avoid having a recurring human villain, but then it would've been hard to keep Apex in the picture, between the Mechagodzilla scandal and all their key members dying.
Rome is mentioned as a location in the film, which was reinforced this week with a Japanese trailer showing Godzilla astride the Colosseum prior to his evolution. As a half-Italian, I'm thrilled.
Wingard is aiming for late-Showa Godzilla vibes. Not possible on a nine-figure budget, says I, but I'm curious to see what he comes up with. Adds that he "wanted the color palette of the film to resemble the experience of what it was like to walk down a toy aisle in the 1980s[.]"
Wingard on Skar King: "[He's], in a way, the closest that the human threat has ever been juxtaposed onto a titan itself. The Skar King almost represents an upscaled version of the worst parts of humanity, just as Kong represents some of the best parts of humanity."
Now, about that cover... they're doing the bisexual lighting on purpose at this point, right?
The new Godzilla Battle Line units are Orga and Kiryu Kai (Heavy Arms Type). Orga's pretty fun, dropped into the arena by the Millennian UFO and respawning with half health once defeated. The new Kiryu is a major addition, dealing 30% more damage to units that cost 7 energy or more.

This is my first Kaiju Week in Review covering 2024; for a look back on all that happened in 2023 in kaiju film, television, and video games, I'll refer you to this excellent video by @zagorudan. @vintagehenshin has one out on indie tokusatsu as well.
This is a year ending in "4", so a lot of Godzilla movies have big anniversaries on the way. The biggest, of course, is Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, turning 50 on March 21. Toho wasn't celebrating golden anniversaries in earnest when the other non-Godzilla members of the Big Five reaches theirs, so expect a Full Weapon Strike of merch, comics, and short films. We already know Mechagodzilla's in the next Godzilla Rivals issue, though not top-billed. Ultraman Leo, ESPY, Evil of Dracula, and Prophecies of Nostradamus also turn 50 this year.

Con so good !!
I bought some physical copies of stuff I already have as pdfs (Fate, OSE, Burning Wheel, y'know)
I got some new stuff too, like Teatime adventures to try the recipes and Mythquest since I remembered seeing posts and the kickstarter way back.
Teatime is real cutesy and I'm looking forward to the food. My only criticism is that it might've been better as something like Wanderhome for something rules-minimal like the vibe it's going for, but admittedly I've never really looked at cooking ttrpgs much! Well Wilderfeast exists but monster slaying and devouring is not quite the same genre as Teatime Adventures.
Mythquest isss . It's more 5e adjacent than I was hoping, like it's less distant than Pathfinder2e. Which I suppose isn't a bad thing if you're deep into 5e like I was years ago, but the mechanics aren't quite there for me. It feels like a "build your own class" form of Savage World's traits (which I also saw, but didn't want enough to warrant a hardcover).
It also features "class stacks", which are sorta bundles of traits and progression to guide your character's levelup options. But building outside of those feels a bit... Wrong? Like you have the ability to, but the game recommends using a stack instead and doesn't feature any examples of Not using a class stack (both in the prefab characters nor in the example text).
Not as fulfilling as I would've hoped, and honestly I regret buying the bundle for it (player, gm guide, monster book) but the plush I got out of it is pretty cute. Given the chance to go back hours ago I would've just gotten the core book. And even then... Eh? It's not the book's fault for not adhering to my tastes but when it marketed itself as distinct from 5e I didn't think it would be reflavored 5e. There's even a short section about how dnd alignment isn't a thing while trying hard not to point fingers. "Other TTRPGS have these alignments, but not us" isn't honest !! That's just dungeons and dragons !! Who else uses the chaotic/lawful good/evil axis!!
I'll make a better post about the stuff I actually liked though later. My mood is just sorta subsumed by this lackluster financial choice.

Circlet of the Sun pt. 3
(part 2) (part 4)
Sila and Papaya go back and forth about the script some more, with Papaya repeatedly saying how much she loathes Sila but never says it to her face. They does have a funny line about how she makes an expression that doesn't make sense though.
there's an emoticon for this somewhere
The impression throughout all this ranting is that Sila likes dramatic anime-like fight scenes for her Mary Sue. Doesn't seem like a crime to me but I guess I wasn't there. She is mocked for it. More direct parallels are drawn between Glip's abusive real life dad and the real life gun he threatened his family with and this person on the internet who wrote bad stories and hurt people's feelings.
After a bunch of that, we cut back to Papaya and a new character, Jaxi, at the shop. Jaxi is a stand-in for one of Glip's real life partners Axi, I'm pretty sure. Anyway, Jaxi says that Sila came to them the next day and told them about what happened, and that Papaya really scared her when she yelled at her. They say that, knowing Glip, scaring her would have been intentional. They say Glip shouldn't be so mean to someone who's doing their best and trying to help. Glip doesn't remember yelling or why. Hey, guess what train of logic shows up again! Guess! GO ON! GUESS!!!
sure have trouble remembering when i yell at people for some reason
Papaya says she feels ashamed and starts to explain (crossed out) BLAME herself. She says she should have known better and shouldn't have yelled and just explained it calmly for the tenth time but instead she yelled. "I'm so tired of everyone being scared of me," she says. Gee, I wonder why that would be? Maybe this whole VN is a reason. Jaxi says that Sila is really scared of her and they can't think of a reason now to tell her why she shouldn't be.
We cut back to Tox and her two minions. Inkcat is called Vacuumania which makes me think of a fetish site more than a character name but hey. Toxinuate throws a pity party about how her two friends, Obverse and Vacuumania, tell her everything she does wrong and that makes her get better at things, which is a theme that came up when Tox was first introduced. This whole scene has very weird vibes since it seems like Glip is aiming this at Jaxi, their real life partner, who was talking to them completely reasonably a second ago. I don't know man. It's weird, that's what I'm saying.
i'm not talking about you, jaxi! (or am i)
Tox keeps rambling her big irritating pity party to herself about how she can't have boundaries and does everything wrong and everyone hates her yada yada we've all heard this before. It's also implied at one point that Tox should accept every kind of story/medicine people want to inflict on her, so I guess we're back to kinkshaming lol.
It goes on to touch on being cancelled again and how people blame Tox for things it totally didn't do. I'd remind you that Tox is another self-insert of Glip's but at this point you might as well assume that's a given.
step on me more plz (just kidding) (or am i)
Scissors and Inkcat, sorry, Obverse and Vacuumania actually tell her to shut up at one point which is pretty funny though.
thank you
There's some more of Selfish-Harm being a strawman villain then out of nowhere this hilarious thing.
lol what
There's a whole bunch more yelling and Selfish-Harm being evil and Selfish-Harm stabs Papaya repeatedly with very deliberate rape imagery, which is weird. She tries to explain but Selfish-Harm never listens, so she thinks of a way to make them listen.
Papaya shifts into Lily! Hey, Lily! One of the actual characters! I'm shocked. There's a bunch of rambling in the corners about Lily panicking about how she's put into a role that doesn't fit and she can't remember who she was because she keeps getting killed in someone's mind so she can never grow, because they don't know her. She'd never like someone as pathetic as you! The narration says. "You're Sylvan! You kill her in your mind! You're the one who restarts the universe everytime!"
What does it mean? It means Sila likes Lily the wrong way and writes stories about her dying, basically.
Anyway, Lily holds a baby Jupet in her hand. She says that Jupet is small, but they're a nekopossum, so that'd be why. That'd explain the fairy circle in their room as well! It does imply that maybe Lily had other children in other frequencies but who cares at this point.
hachacha
TAL's been using a laser to collect data and heal. Lily is scared of it, but it helps her. It takes away her pain and creates the wall out of the inability to feel pain. This is the quarantine line, it says. The quarantine line for paranoia! What does it mean. Someone says that you've lost the Heaven's Keys, and that Clear Watching is an underground prison on one of the Keys.
Glip and Lily go into the Keys. Glip says they found an anomaly, and we get a shot of Jupet with an X over their head. No one remembered them, they became a child of the story, never to have been, it says (what). There's then an odd panel with someone rambling, Glip I think, saying you're a terrifying person and that writing about their own character in their own story fills them with dread, so they're going to kill her off for good. I assume this is about Sila. Glip throws Lily into Clear Watching, WHERE ANGELS GO TO DIE.
Anyway, we have a frequency shift from Andre to Sample, because great, whatever that means, and cut to Amdusias pony, now named Sinpony. Beleth is talking to her, but they have a new form now with a diamond over their eye. Another AU form of Beleth. Sigh.
Beleth thinks about how they're so cool and that they can beat anyone up with their three favorite toys. They call them and Tox, Obverse, and Vacuumania show up, baffled. Sila is there again, saying Sinpony belongs to her, and Beleth squares off to fight.
We then get a card saying it's the end of part one and Papaya never wrote the second part because Sila attacked her. It's a poor workman that blames their tools, you know.
:3c
We go to Callclout writhing in pain from Bugsy's rule, yada yada. They try to figure out a way to get out from under it. There's another childish "this is you!" moment with Glip introducing another new dumb angel, Socketpuppet.
wait i'm missing a thumb
As you might guess, Socketpuppet puts on puppets of other characters and pretends to be them. Socketpuppet pretends to be Papaya for a while and I'm not really sure who's talking. Of note though is that Glip again gets defensive about people hating on Call-Clout and says they'll kill off Lily and Neon if it continues. okay.
how to respond to criticism
The voice, Glip I assume, declares Rule Zero, that you (Sila I assume) can never talk to them or their friends again. I don't know why they think Sila would at this point, it sounds like it'd be the last thing on her mind. But hey.
They then explicitly blackmail Sila, saying that if Sila talks about Glip to anyone or has any bad feelings about anything in this VN, they'll kill off Lily and Neon (maybe Jupet too). They get really defensive about Call-Clout again which is hilarious to me. Call-Clout, of all characters. Imagine being defensive of a character called Call-Clout IN a call-out you wrote!! it's kind of amazing.
i'm the hero!! glip says, like all the villains say, but it's different when they do it
It then says Hostage Taker, Selfish Hurt, so maybe Selfish-Hurt is threatening this to... who? Themselves? Someone else by pretending to be Glip? I don't know. Maybe they're blaming Selfish-Hurt for making them take hostages? This is a mess.
Hilariously, Glip then says that Sila made them realize that callouts are a useful tool, but they didn't want to do one. :( They just wanted to write a story about what it felt like for Sila to be a horrible creep! Look what you've made them do! This is your fault!! They say they're recovering just fine without Sila, as the VN clearly shows. No issues here.
We get a bit more clarity now with a goop like sort of Glip being confirming that they are the ones holding Lily and Neon hostage, and that if they die everyone will know it was Sila's fault and know she's a pervert who gets off on killing loving mothers. If they keep quiet then maybe Glip will keep them alive, or maybe not.
conflict resolution, by glip
Glip yells at Sila some more, then gets mad at them for driving them to do this. Sila cares more about jerking the characters around than how it hurts Glip so much when she does that! :( Glip says that this actually made them stop caring about Lily and Neon, because caring about them turned into endless suffering for Glip. I wonder if this could have been avoided if they just banned Sila when they suggested a script that creeped them out in the first place. Just spitballing though. "Who cares, it's just a comic" they say. Who cares indeed.
Glip says Sila radiates violent and murderous feelings and thinks that Sila would physically attack them if they met in real life. You're a dangerous person, Glip says, sorry you had to hear it from me. :( So they say they'll just kill Lily and Neon off right now. I mean, I guess it's not like Glip was even doing anything with them at this point, is it so much of a loss?
Just in case you were wondering, Glip then takes an opportunity to tell you how much they enjoyed writing this callout and screaming at this rando for hours. Callouts are great and cathartic! I guess people get their kicks in all sorts of ways.
call outs are great! not when they're about me though
Papaya laughs, saying that it's just a story. "Stories with no basis in reality don't matter", it says, although then it crosses "don't matter" out and replaces it with "creates that reality".
As threatened, we return to Lily and Neon. Neon says that something's been bothering her. Lily asks her what it is, while narration says THIS IS THE SCHOOLYARD DISEASE, THIS IS WHAT'S ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR. Spite, apparently. Actually that adds up.
Neon says that she's really scared of Lily, that entering this chamber with her and trying to teach her about what's going on is terrifying because she knows she looks like a traitor. Lily breaks, again, finally, whatever that means. Everyone in this comic is breaking constantly. Anyway, she doesn't know why Neon would talk about being a traitor, like she's forgotten that Neon told her exactly why. To be fair that was a pretty long time ago.
Lily wonders if Neon really feels bad about it or if it's just paranoia. Not sure how those two things are different. Why was she joking about something so serious? she wonders. Neon is a stranger, right? It gets crossed out and replaced with danger.
Neon says that this is what she's talking about, when she says again and again that she doesn't want Lily to kill her and Lily doesn't respond. Neon says she's had nightmares for years about Lily killing her (with beholding sirens involved somehow presumably) and that Lily acts like that never happened and just makes jokes and makes Neon feel good, and it doesn't add up to Neon. Neon can't tell if she's paranoid or if Lily is hiding how much she wants to kill her.
looks a bit like a rabbit
"I can feel it again, the way you hide your violent thoughts," Neon says. "You can't get mad or you'll snap and kill me, because Jupet's gone and I caused it." Not sure if this is due to the Jupet going into Beleth thing or Lily getting stuck on the wrong frequency. Neon says she can finally feel Lily's malice. She doesn't know what to do other than try to fix it, and says she'd try to fix it even if Lily wasn't here and Jupet wasn't gone, and she apologizes.
The Schoolyard Disease starts trying to take root in Lily's heart, where it would bring them full circle and begin them anew. But something about Neon said sticks with her. Had she said something new?
Lily feels ashamed of herself. She didn't think Neon would notice all of her violent negative feelings, but she did because she was scared and quiet and loving. I'll just have to take Lily's word for it. Neon noticed Lily leaking violence and hostility and somehow managed to apologize for it. That phrasing is a bit weird I think.
look into my eyes
Lily connects to the feelings she'd been lying to herself about. She'd almost scared Neon to death! This should be in its own separate VN, why it's tacked onto this rant is beyond me. No wait, it's because this scene is written out of spite, that's right.
Lily says that she's tried to kill Sylvan a hundred thousand times, but he can't die. He always comes back to life because he's a necropossum. This explains that mention of coming back to life so long ago with Jupet. Lily then says she can also never die, he can never kill her and she can never kill him. She describes it like she dies, then decides she just didn't die and ends up back here, and then takes it out on Neon. Neon also always comes back. "Are we monsters?" Lily wonders. I have to say, finding out that Lily and Neon are trapped in an endless cycle of death, murder, and rebirth with each other has made their relationship way more interesting. Oh no I'm part of the problem!!
Abruptly, they're back in the Amdusias pony form. Lily wants to say she'd never murder Neon, but she's not entirely sure that's true. She misses Jupet terribly. Lily says that she's not scared of not recognizing Jupet when she sees them again, but of them not recognizing her. She says she knows she wasn't a good mother sometimes, and wonders if that's what factored into them leaving.
She wasn't trying to blame Neon for her feelings about what Sylvan did to Jupet (will we ever find out?), and tells Neon that it's not her fault that all this happened. She's ashamed she hurt her and isn't sure what possessed her to do that.
Anyway, Sinpony collapses on the ground next to white Beleth, we're back at the end of... Schoolyard Disease? Is that the VN I'm thinking of? Anyway, Sinpony feels three other consciousnesses leave it or be forgotten. There's an odd bit about wishing for the universe to take her identity and leaving her with a life of malice for her and her child.
lily?
Not sure what to make of that. Sinpony talks to Beleth like they're her child but doesn't know why. This freaks Beleth out a bit. They say Beleth's memory isn't all there and they shouldn't play dumb, asking why they're playing the same tricks as their father ("may i remind you what a horrible monster he is?"). They weren't always a doll and they can't keep this charade up, Sinpony says.
Beleth breaks (everyone breaks!) and realizes that they don't have a childhood or a past and that maybe something's controlling them. They realize their body is indestructible and that's boring and wonder what death is like, then flip out at Sinpony and threaten to kill them for "touching her memory." Sinpony is terrified and has no idea what they're talking about. Unable to tell Beleth that they just want to see their child again, they pass out.
Anyway we cut back to CC. Sadly they seem to have escaped Bugsy's rule thanks to their "forcesight" to do a bunch of redacted things. They say that the paranoia on Neon had incubated and turned into Socketpuppet because of Beleth. Or Bugsy. Fine, whatever.
i'm the good guy
It does say that CC tried to protect Lily/Neon/Chip from getting their identities eaten, which doesn't really match what we were shown in that VN at all. CC then says she has to deliver a mask to its recipient because they've solved an instance of Schoolyard Disease by predicting what hurt to do in advance! Oh man, remember that?? I actually had to go back and reread it because it was already barely explained to begin with. I think solving an instance of Schoolyard Disease has now told them who they need to deliver the mask to.
Call-Clout remembers that this is where Median isn't saved, because Beleth is busy arguing with Sinpony over there. Beating a dead horse, am I right! Anyway Andre said a long time ago that without Median the plague spreads out of control and everyone dies. Oops! Srinivasa says they hate this world as much as they love it, and that they don't even feel real anymore, just a thing being manipulated by their mask. Stardrop warned you about this.
Call-Clout wants to take off the mask and just exist, but it'll look like the Unmasked Sun (Glip) and no one will help them then. So unfair. :( CC says the shift is inevitable and that they've lost this round and three identities. CC has a big hole in their chest and Socketpuppet shows up and eyes it. CC bleeding out summons an ENCORE (but wasn't Encore already here...?)
Encore shows up and says they can take the hole away from CC's chest, although CC is too weak to say anything with Socketpuppet nearby. It has a thorny ring looped into it like a keyring.
i guess you can call for multiple encores
CC says they're not good and are tired of playing the villain. Encore says they'll do it instead and they'll give them what they deserve, a fair trial. CC laughs at the idea, asking Encore where they were when they got blamed for the plague and exiled back in the Masked Sun VN. Socketpuppet lols in the background and again sizes up the hole in CC's chest.
CC calls them an idiot, resonating with "the entire cycle Socketpuppet had completed", and the hole in their chest congeals and becomes a Circlet of the Sun. Title drop! After all this time what is it?? What's the circlet of the sun??? What is it???
It's just the receipts of what Sila did.
the secret of this callout is... that it's a callout
Anyway CC rambles on disjointedly about exaggerating feelings and some talk of suicide and Sila assaulting her brother or mom or something, I can't keep track of this since it's not explained and I don't care. This is already so long and we're so close to the end...! CC goes on to describe malice and I thought maybe Glip was describing themselves but I think it's supposed to be directed at Sila. Not sure how I could've mixed that up!
got a face made of taffy
There's also a "diagram" that looks a lot like a uterus.
and some fallopian tubes i suppose
Anyway out of nowhere, Ms. Warmheart appears again. CC asks her to help them by yelling at CC as if she's yelling at Socketpuppet. Warmheart is peeved and says that CC already has a "little doll" in back to play with, and says that this is why CC got into this mess in the first place, their little experiments. Anyway CC and Warmheart and Socketpuppet argue and it's boring and doesn't make a lot of sense. Malice gets brought up again. Warmheart does say that CC is some kind of abomination that holds multiple souls and identities within themselves though.
She also mentions razing the land again! I remember that getting mentioned before. It's not explained any more here than it was back then.
burn it all to the ground
CC pulls out the mask they were supposed to deliver, saying it's time to eat it. Socketpuppet demands it but CC gives it to Warmheart instead, although she seems pretty hesitant about the whole thing. Encore meanwhile makes a big circlet portal and goes through it, figuring everyone else can handle it on their own. They wonder what they'll do when this frequency is completely drained of magic. They shrug and say it's just the natural consequence of trying to solve a problem by lying to yourself.
Mr. 5 meanwhile is covered with worthworms while everyone else is doing other things. What'll he do now, the narration wonders? Die, hopefully. Encore keeps going down a hole and Glip brings up being cancelled again out of nowhere.
this red circle is about to charge
Encore, looking sillier and sillier as they go, yells at Sila again. I thought at first they were yelling at themselves sarcastically but now I think it's genuine yelling at Sila? It's weird how the same accusations seem to fit between the two of them. Probably a coincidence.
/srs or /j? /srs or /j?????
There's more yelling at Sila, along with accusations of trying to kill herself to make Glip feel bad. It goes on and on for a while and then Glip's like "let me make it a violent cartoon, you like those!" and Bugsy shows up again. Bugsy likes punching things but sometimes feels bad about it and doesn't know why. What could it mean? At one point Bugsy holds up a list of all the people Glip's ever hurt and says they'll hold Glip accountable for it if Glip hurts them like they've ever hurt anyone ever. Just in case it's too subtle, Glip's name is scribbled out.
Bugsy wearing a fetching bra
There's more yelling at Sila. Glip/Encore says that when Bugsy acts like their bad feelings are reality, it erases theirs. They then say that that's fine, let's talk more about Bugsy's feelings. Let's make sure the rest of the story is agreeing with Bugsy! Let's see what happens, Glip says.
We go back to Clear Watching, WHERE ANGELS GO TO DIE. There are two new inmates in the cell of the prison (the channel on the discord, remember), Lily and Neon. No one ever escapes Clear Watching, where angels are held against their will for as long as the judge deems appropriate.
Glip appears and mocks them for being stupid enough to have their identities stolen/raped, especially by Bugsy of all people. Lily and Neon look on and while we saw Glip in a disguise, they see Encore as Encore. They say they've seen this creature in their dreams, overlooking every instance of Schoolyard Disease. Let's do it all again, let's see the tragedy from the top! Encore says. That does fit with what we know about Schoolyard Disease, to be fair.
The narration scolds Lily for not being a good mom, saying that Jupet is off hurting people all the time, with no idea how their mere presence brings plagues into existence. Jupet's getting hurt because they were never told that hurting others was bad, since Lily herself is good at hurting others. Lily feels bad and decides to swear off violence.
Since Lily can't die, there were never any consequences for killing others, so she just got used to it. Lily is upset, telling herself that killing shouldn't be normal, but it's become normal to her. Lily can't tell Jupet that what they're doing is wrong because she can't connect with Jupet's feelings without infecting them with an unnatural bloodlust, and leaves the feelings that Jupet picks up on anyway unexplained. While this is going on Lily is turning into a worm for some reason.
a furry slinky
Lily tries to understand what's happening to her as a constellation (Stardrops rule about reading stars?) appears on her. She must have stolen someone else's identity, she wonders, because why else would someone be stealing hers? It must be her fault and she deserves this, she reasons. She becomes a full furry slinky called Salivent, the cyclic solvent, swearing that she'll solve this problem if it's the last thing she does. Don't know why the saliva theme with her.
Some scribbles yell about victim blaming. I have no idea who they're supposed to be. Glip I assume.
odd equivalence i think
On closer inspection I THINK it's supposed to be Lily talking about being raped and Encore talking over her, but again I'm not sure. Encore goes on with more victim blaming and then says this is boring. Lily screams how this can be boring, and Encore says she's seen this hundreds of times. Lily swears off violence and then kills Neon again. Lily insists that she's changed and isn't like that anymore, and Encore says oh, like all those other times you said you wouldn't kill her? And Lily stays quiet.
Lilyworm writhes in her cell about how no one believes she's changed even though she says she has and how unfair that is. It's disgusting that Lilyworm thinks its intentions matter, someone says, no one cares. The "acid" escapes Lilyworm's throat and she says "why don't you like me" which isn't what she meant to say, and it gets rewritten to "why don't you believe me".
Neon has now merged with Obverse for whatever reason, asking why Lily would think she doesn't like them. Maybe it's because she doesn't like her. I'm not making a joke, that's what it says. It's implied by font though that it might be Obverse saying it and not her.
simple enough
Lilyworm screams "why won't you believe me" while Obverseneon says she does... believe she likes hurting her! Oh! Got you good!! It actually might be Obverse saying that though. They go on to say that they believe they don't like Lily, while what I think is Neon says that she does believe her. There's a bunch of rambling about Obverseneon believing Lily hates her and such and she's scared.
Obverseneon, with the subtitle Obnoxiously Oblivious, gets to a chalkboard to explain how she's wrong. There are more faux mathematics as we AGAIN go to the same theme, where Obverseneon thinks that she must not have been expressing her love for Lily correctly if Lily had to ask in the first place, so the blame is on her. She reasons that Lily is asking because she hasn't actually changed, otherwise she wouldn't ask. Whatever.
Obverseneon laughs about how funny this all is and how they could ever expect Lilyworm to change. "We're just feelings machines" she says, "none of this is real and never has been". Lilyworm also has a stupid face, kind of looks like a playground kiddy ride.
or an indie horror game villain

Daymare 1994: Sandcastle Review Cons: - Cannot rebind controls. - A few robotic-looking animations. - Faces look a bit bad, especially on the male models, it looks like too much botox and now any sort of expression is a mission in itself. - The immersion gets broken a lot with no animations for things like opening a door or picking up an item. - The cutscene transitions can be a bit abrupt and sharp in places. - In built-up areas, the detailing of the level can take a while to pop or load in. - The prompts for interaction are big and bright so it takes some of the tension and exploration out of it all. - Doesn't make clear about the collectibles in terms of what they are and what to do to actually get them. - At times they feel the story in with a few paragraphs of text on a loading screen. - Mouth movements are real weird looking. - Every time something cool or in any way Interactive it cuts to a cutscene sequence. - Everything is staged in a way that you cannot get lost, but also you have no sense of exploration and it just feels like you are following a crumb trail. - At the start of every new segment, you start with your torch off regardless of whether you had it on beforehand or you start in a dark room. - Spelling mistakes in mission descriptions. - Frustrating boss fights. week of february 23rd, 2020
aries: your ruler mars is in capricorn, where he is most exalted in the sky, and this week he spends a while in alignment with the south node dredging up old traumas, as well as old victories. what you do with this new martial information (perhaps inspired by retrograde mercury in the sign prior to yours?) is fully up to you.
taurus: it may sound dreadful that your ruler venus squares formidable pluto this week and it can be dread indeed, especially if you have been doing more wallowing than is healthy. but formidable is not always the same thing as evil. can you reclaim any power you’ve given away?
gemini: from deep within its retrograde, mercury connects with the fateful north node. it is an excellent time to, for example, learn the runes or take up computer programming. strange synchronicities occur when you do.
cancer: although the moon is your true ruler, ever since the north node moved into your sign it often feels like the nodal axis is your ruler and that’s no less true this week as it feels like every planet known to humankind pings off those two points in the sky. you’re extra psychic, especially if you have connections to your ancestors.
leo: the sun trines the north node and then meets up with mercury, marking the halfway point of that planet’s retrograde cycle in pisces. romance suits you, the more operatic the better. embrace your daily dramas.
virgo: mercury makes it halfway through its retrograde which, as you likely know very well, occurs in your 7th house and affects all your partnerships, especially relationships that are (or that you thought were) already established. in many ways you can consider this peak activity. what you cannot do is fall into the trap of thinking you know what will happen next.
libra: venus perfecting a square with pluto is not necessarily your favorite or most comfortable aspect but it is like remembering your posture - a small move can really change everything.
scorpio: late in the week, venus squares your ruler pluto and it is likely very much your cup of tea. it forces positive growth and it has a very hot, romantic energy. it may be hard to hold still.
sagittarius: such mutable vibe is quite healthy for any sagittarian. but remember, all things in moderation. don’t go overboard. find some root to ground yourself by.
capricorn: among much other nodal axis activity, the week sees a very royal mars, at the peak of his divine masculine, meet with the south node in your sign. look for omens. make omens!
aquarius: it’s a strange sort of “eye of the storm” kind of week where superficially everything seems calm (dare i say normal?) but under the surface you’re in a chrysalis making big changes that even you don’t really know about or understand.
pisces: the surreal quality of this atmosphere unsettles many but likely suits you just fine. your dreams are prophetic but so is your waking life. keep in mind neither is more real than the other.

Venus Pluto
Venus is about relating to others and Pluto makes this area of life intense, obsessive and controlled. Pluto energy is intensely intense, deeply deeply emotional and plays for keeps ... that’s forever yours and forever mine when coupled with Venus! When Pluto is with Venus it’s not about just getting a partner or having a partner its about owning each other.
The ownership is not made by having an expensive party called a wedding or the ceremony with “I do” at the end, it’s not even about the contract that gets signed in the back room they call the marriage certificate. NO, the bonds of partnership are formed during intimacy, during sex, during that moment of orgasm when the bond between you is at its most emotionally, sensory and immediate present and is being FELT both BOTH OF YOU.
You may very well have the party, do the wedding and sign the contract but the real marriage and union of two happens in the nuptial consummated act in the honeymoon bed. Yet it’s an “as if, that’s ever going to happen!” Venus Pluto isn’t going to marry anyone under contract of law unless the sex is good! These people are the try before you buy types: especially in the area of intimacy, sex and relating. If they don’t feel the spark, the vibe ... that feeling of absolute connectedness during intimacy and if the bliss zone is not reached they will distance away from the relationship.

Pluto and Venus are the two planets connected to money which puts the personal finances and cash flow front and centre of any friendship or relationship of any kind. It’s always going to be about the money. These people will seek out wealthy friends or at a bare minimum those who are at the same level of financial ability. Pluto is also a planet about control and along side Venus is adept at controlling the money and running a tight budget. Even if these people live in a low socio economic demographic they will still manage their money effectively and cunningly so as to achieve as much as possible with what they have, which will leave others wondering how they could afford to buy that or take that holiday. This position understands that it’s not about how much money, it’s about how you control that money that counts and makes the difference.
This is also a position of a person who will tend towards marrying into money and only considers those with prospects of a good income worth dating. If these people grow up in a family with no money they will push all their passion and intensity towards doing whatever it takes to be a wealthy adult and will pursue a career that pays well or pursue relationships with those who are paid well. It’s the stuff of the rags to riches stories of film and literature but these are the types who fully endeavour to live it in their real lives.
Venus is pleasure and when it’s involved with Pluto fun gets shifted to extreme and their inner party animal comes out! They play hard and when they play: bingeing goes to excess, whether that comes by staying up far too late, drinking far too much, exposing too much or making love for so long they feel numb all over ... its intense, it’s full on, its top gear or go home! As it’s Pluto it can all be done in secret or in the dead of night in a smokey seedy basement in some back block dark alley full of shady deviants in trench coats. These can also be the themes of their entertainment in literature, films and YouTube habits as can an allure for horror movies and any genre that explores themes of the underworld, crime and mysteries.
Pluto is associated to the underworld and when paired with Venus this can be a situation of being attracted to darker, heavier emotional types. Equally they can tend toward books and films that explore these themes in the characters and they are actually married to a balanced and charming spouse. It does indicate that they do prefer to keep their partnership very private and their inner sanctum of primary friendships private.
Trust is very important to these people and if it is broken then so is the relationship. It will not be a situation of remaining friends, it’s a situation of becoming an instant enemy as soon as the broken trust was discovered and you are not only dead to them at that point you just got put on their reprisals hit list that sits dormant until revenge can return the favour: of the hurt and damage that the betrayal of trust felt like. You can’t take back a feeling with these people they will not believe that it wasn’t meant to be said that way or you really didn’t mean to do it! No, they see it as the revelation of what you are really like and again you are dead to them at that moment after utterance or discovery.
Venus is creativity, styling and design and when paired with Pluto is very artistic and can benefit from any creative activity. Pleasure is found creating beauty and in the intense focus of creating a picture, playing an instrument, performing in a play or colouring an adult colouring book. Pluto is also about transformation and regeneration and when applied to creative processes this pair is adept in repurposing, recycling and coming up with creative solutions to fit the purpose. Any of these type of pursuits as hobbies or avenues of income or pleasure are beneficial to the person with Venus and Pluto paired in the chart.
When Venus and Pluto are paired in the chart the person is intense, focused and in control with an inner strength that knows how to face the darkness strait on! Eye to eye and an eye for an eye, for they know that place where evil can reign, they know that dungeon, they know that place where hell resides in all of us. These are the people with the inner emotional fortitude to face what others turn from. They make excellent therapists and are the person you want beside you when life takes one of those types of turns that destroy lives. Here the intense emotional relationships part of this pair steps up to the plate and their ability to empower and support others is operating at its premium level. When these types of employment are pursued the Venus Pluto pair tends to have a lot less drama and less darker problematic issues in their private life at home.
The charisma and charm is high when Venus and Pluto are paired in the chart. They will have sexual appeal to others as their intense energy radiates around them. As Pluto is about control: they can turn it off or they can turn it on and when they turn it on: it is powerful energy which can charm, persuade, manipulate and influence who ever they beam their alluring temptation upon. Venus is how we attract others to us and when it’s with Pluto: its sexual energy, its power, its control, its money, its often hidden and if it’s secretive the thrill factor rises significantly for them. Charisma, charm and persuasion are the skills of effective negotiators, politicians and company directors and as they say “Sex Sells!” This pair do have some of the mysterious qualities of the “X” factor that makes a celebrity have that edge, that a politician gets elected by or the negotiator who achieves more than anyone expected. When Pluto takes control of Venus by Aspect the result can be very appealing to mass groups of people as they work their charming ability to woo others, gain supporters and attract followers: especially when also in Aspect to the Nodal Axis, Angles &/or Luminaries.
How these all things play out in the context of a whole Natal Chart must be taken on a chart by chart basis as to how this is played out in a real life. When assessing its operation in the chart one needs to look for what other planetary combinations would support these things or what planetary combinations would halt, hinder or limit these things.

Eurovision 2010s: 90 - 86
90. Suzy - Queiro ser tua” Portugal 2014
youtube
~Huawei Wa Wei~
I have mentioned earlier that Moran Mazor is arguably the saddest NQ, but Suzy is definitely up there in people whose success I was rooting for. Indeed, I mostly love Suzy because she was a TRAGICALLY ROBBED UNDERDOG.
You see, Suzy was ~BULLIED~ from the moment she had won FdC, and beaten Catarina in the F2. Now, I personally don’t mind “Mea Culpa” itself (my favourite was the drunken pirate hag known as 😍 ZANA 😍, but that’s for another ranking). However, I don’t think I’ve *EVER* witnessed a fanbase as downright evil as the Catarina stans. These ‘people’, by the lack of a better term, make the Beyoncé and Ultimo fans appear like kind and rational people. These... self-proclaimed ‘eurovision fans’ tried to intimidate Suzy into quitting by sending her death threats, all because she DARED to beat their erstwile female-mediocre flavour-du-jour. Who the fuck does that? Human pieces of shit, that’s who. 😤
There’s an *additional* sociocultural connotation to the entire Suzy vs Catarina debacle, but my friend André, who is Brazillian and has Suzy in his 2014 top three made a great post about the issue back in the day, so I’ll just quote him for those who want more backstory:
Quero Ser Tua belongs to a music genre called "pimba", which is perceived by the Portuguese middle and upper classes as tasteless and vulgar because of simple melodies and dirty metaphors (the latter not present in Quero Ser Tua). So they despised Suzy and (...) went in a fucking frenzy [when she won FdC], attacked the composer of Quero Ser Tua (also the father of pimba music), and accused him to rigging the televote and even started dozens of petitions (alol) and regularly vandalised Wikipedia writing that Portugal's entry was "disputed" or that Catarina was the real winner (holy alol). This drama speaks to me because Quero Ser Tua and pimba music in general sound like other genres of popular music we have here in Brazil that are also derided by the snotty-nosed middle class as vulgar and devoid of "culture", often with racial connotations on top of the social class ones. To me, Suzy's victory (rigged or not) has a political message: pimba IS culture, like any other kind of music, and it deserves to represent a country as great as Portugal because it's part of their culture and they should be proud. It's definitely a bigger statement than the bourgeois, mediocre Mea Culpa and I am proud of every Portuguese that voted for Suzy to win. <3
As for ~my~ layman’s opinion, well, I just think the song possesses some great summer sprit.😊 It’s a colourful explosion of cheerful accordeon, moody percussion and ethnic frivolity. 😍 Listening to “Quero ser tua” makes me very happy about 100% of the time, almost as much as the knowledge that, after being disliked for most of the pre-show, Suzy won everyone except for her most diehard haters over, becoming someone who is now almost unanimously deemed one of the most robbed NQs. STAY PRESSED, HATERS. >pasta :victorydance:

89. Jana Burcheska - “Dance Alone” F.Y.R. Macedonia 2017
youtube
[2017 Review here]
Like many of the 2017 entries, my passion for Jana dropped over time. Make of it what you must but I think the live of “Dance alone” kind of cheapens it... and you know what I think about cheap and trashy, I LOVE THAT OBVIOUSLY.😍
However, I also think the cheapness does Jana dirty, because “Dance alone” also happens to be one of my favourite songs OF 2017. Its 80s synth sound and high voltage fierceness left me bald and straight UPON IMPACT, with madly quotable lyrics that I STILL use in friendly banter to this day. 😍
The awesomeness is only further enhanced by Jana, who is -independently from her song- also one of the best humans in 2017. I absolutely ADORED this goat-voiced gremliness from the SECOND she spent her first interview shading the fuck out of Rykka 😍 (check the 2017 review for the dirt) and then proceeded to troll the press people by teasing that she actually couldn’t sing for no reason. 😍
Which brings me to the live act which.... conceptually is a match to the song, but which also doesn’t do it justice. Don’t get me wrong, Jana contorting her body as she’s assaulted by a Carolean windmachine sustains the crap out of me, but I have always thought “Dance alone” had more potential than shown in the live. (Getting rid of the “Wishing you could hold me close” closer is particularly upsetting imo.) Moldova and Azerbaijan would’ve turned “Dance alone” into an EASY top 30 in this ranking, but in the hands of Macedonia it’s a mere top 90 for me. 😭

88. Lake Malawi - “Friend of a friend” Czech Republic 2019
youtube
only a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend
Lake Malawi live the ultimate BorisBubbles dream: IMMENSELY annoying song whose appeal hinges entirely on how uncomfortable it makes other people, somehow convinces about ~95% of the loyal eurofans that it’s a fantastic masterpiece. 😍 ADVERSI-DEITIES 😍
Of course, the axis around which Lake Malawi spins is Albert, a human spark plug and mankind’s youngest thirty year old. Seeing Albert fling himself around the stage, never losing his entheusiasm is the main reason why “Friend of a friend” exceeded my already high expectations! Another, slightly-less awesome reason however is the D-sound-like staging:
It really just is a clever, likable entry. Of course, that doesn’t take away that “Friend of a Friend” is objectively one of the most irritating songs ever, making it anathema to the televoters’ tastes <3 😭(😍)
________________________________________________________________
87. Jamala - “1944″ Ukraine 2016
youtube
It is only FITTING that Jamala and Lake Malawi rank alongside each other, star-crossed lovers that they are. ALBERT x JAMALA 5ever:
A greater love story than even Alfred x Amaia. However, this post is mostly about Jamala, so LET US discuss a great, if controversial winner. I will start with a small caveat and say that “1944″ isn’t the song for me. One of the biggest dealmakers in Eurovision songs for me is replayability “1944″ just doesn’t have that quality for me. I only really relisten to it when I must, for rewatching purposes. However, that does make the few times I DO revisit “1944″ all the more magical to me. If we take on board that songs are a means of expression, then “1944″ is one of the best songs ever, for the themes it expresses are all too real. I don’t even NEED the gutwrenching, defiant lyrics to *FEEL* the pain the nation of Ukraine is going through. The act sends shivers down my spine, body aching all the time. The Jamala Tree is one of modern Eurovision’s most iconic visuals:
Of course, that ALSO makes “1944″ one of the most notoriously political entries of all time. Now, other fans of Jamala might argue that, “No, it’s not about the Crimean war at all, just the historic deportation” and well... no? There is a reason why Jamala wrote this song *NOW* and not the last time she entered Vidbir. It *is* Jamala’s way of coping with the Russian invasion, something which *also* ties into her own family history. “1944″ is a very elegant, tasteful middlefinger aimed at Putin, but it’s a middlefinger nonetheless. However, what if it is? The Ukraine vs Russia conflict is a notoriously heated one and potshots are to be expected. If I have to chose between an open attack and a backhanded one (such as that rubbish entry from the Tolmachevy Sisters, or the two rubbish ones by Julia Samoylova), I will always pick the former.
Overall, I greatly appreciate “1944″ and think it’s a great winner. The composition is evocative of both Ukraine’s history and musical traditions, as well as their current predicament, making “1944″, despite pertaining to a specific year, a timeless experience. It is very deservingly considered one of Eurovision’s best winners by the fanbase, and I hope it remains a favourite for future generations to come.

86. Joan Franka - “You and Me” The Netherlands 2012
youtube
Yes, Joan ranks one spot above Jamala lmfao. EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!!! 😈
Back in 2012, I obviously was a feverish Joan stan, mostly for Ironic reasons: “LMFAO JOAN TARD... it’s YOU... and ME! SO SILLY <3″ -- me Circa 2012, when my wit amounted to calling lovable dimwits “tards” and quoting song lyrics.
In 2019, I can say that... I still love Joan for her ineptitude and frivolity, but with the added layer of *genuinely* loving Joan for Joan. From the consistently offkey singing, to dressing up like a Lakota warchief (completely oblivious to how inappropriate this is 😍), to the bonfires (pandering to the Land Of Fire, Azerbaijan 😍) and the general-happy-go-lucky vibe, “You and me” just feels so.. real? Like a real person regaling real stories of a real romance with a real (boy)friend. It is so disarmingly earnest, which of course, being stuck in 2012, meant that it was unceremoniously offed by the professional juries. TOO PURE FOR THIS DAMN’ WORLD. 😭
Since this update booted the final entries from Portugal, Macedonia and the Czech Republic, I’ll disclose my final thoughts below, as to not disrupt the ranking:
PORTUGAL:
Honestly, a pretty good chart for Portugal, despite being the fourth country to be fully eliminated from the ranking. I was hoping that Salvabrat would have started a hot streak, but alas. Portugal just keep getting screwed over by subpar staging and their own stubborness, leading to insistent dismissal by the fanbase. I fucking hope people (Portugal deniers) come to their senses though because they are consistently robbing one of Eurovision’s best fucking countries.
NORTH MACEDONIA:
Sean Tarbuck from ESCUnited nailed Macedonia the best: they are a country of amazing music and utterly disastrous lives. They are probably the single worst stagers in Eurovision? The numbers don’t lie, with a qualification rate equivalent worse than San Marino’s. Just look at what Slovenia and Serbia are doing, Maco, and you’ll be fine!!!
CZECH REPUBLIC
There isn’t much to say about the Czech, but they’ve finally contributed with an entry I not only liked, but loved. I do think we are in the beginning years of a Czech Golden Age though and if they can keep that hot streak going, Eurovision might be coming to Prague very soon (ie: within the next five years.)

Fool’s Quest: Fitz and the Fool Rundown
And now we wait together @sonnetscrewdriver!
Plot/Setting/Narrative
I’m so embarrassed for my son Rap-a-taskal.
Getting ahead of myself here but take a chill pill kid.
Calm your Tellator tits.
Actually, screw it! lets start at “the end”:
I’m officially caught up now and I’ve been digging around the internet lurking on forums trying to soak up art/discussions/opinions I’ve been avoiding for months.
And the most interesting fannish thing I’ve uncovered is how lots of people are treating Tellator and Rap as two different people - I’ve read several discussions and threads where Tellator was being thought of and referred to as almost like a parasite or something.
I personally didn’t get that vibe when reading Rain Wilds.
I don’t view Rapskal as an innocent bystander taken over by an insidious and other entity, but I can totally see how folks can see it that way so power to them I suppose.
Time and Parenting really come to a point at the end of this book, bounded tight within the thrill of having these two Realm of the Elderlings character axis’ finally meeting!:
And we the reader are, now, FAR more knowledgeable about the magics and histories of the Realm than any one character present! Funny how time and managing our narrative children will do that, huh? ;D
I’m of the personal opinion that the Elderlings are going to be too thankful and indebted to Fitz to really head the level of retribution Rapskal will demand - but that doesn’t mean Fitz won’t make matters worse with his paranoia and how he expects to be treated (Fitz’s “I-deserve-to-suffer” self loathing really reeks in this book and I have no doubt it will harm more than help in the early stages of Assassin’s Fate)
But oh! I can’t wait to see my Elderling darlings and Six Duchies nerds mingle more!
And yes, I do think Rapskal will continue to be an asshole.
I’m invested in Rapskal though and I can’t wait to see what his deal is and how he’ll affect the story.
I don’t know about y’all but I feel Rap is being set up to have some big part to play - but I’ve no clue if it’ll be direct or indirect lol. TIME WILL TELL!
If I had to guess right now (and I’m going to because why not) I’d guess that at the moment Rapskal probably struggles, that he is antagonistic, because he is outside of the narrative’s “Reflection & Parenting as Change” theme and may never fold into that current because of his choice to skip adolescence via-memory stones.
Rapskal doesn’t have a lot to reflect back on, or maybe the issue is he has too much memory or doesn’t reflect at all and only looks forward forward forward. And we know he isn’t a parent as Nortel told us.
Frankly I hope Rapskal can learn from Fitz and/or Amber, I’d like to see him fold back into the narrative flow rather than swim decidedly against it (not that he isn’t uninteresting for doing so, quite the opposite really).
Maybe Rapskal will find something to reflect back on? Maybe he’ll refuse?
But enough about Rapskal!
THYMARA’S WINGS ARE SO BIG NOW. *gasp* I love her.
Do you think when our Six Duchies party leaves Kelsingra they’ll ride down the Rain Wilds River on Tarman?!
*muffled screeching*
Okay okay okay I’m sorry, back into a Fitz and the Fool Rundown not Kristie has deep love for Rain Wilders Giggling.
Fitz
This dummy.
Don’t get me wrong; temperament wise this older Fitz is still my favorite but he’s also so full of grief and self loathing he’s practically useless mid-book.
And that’s fine, Hobb as always does a great job with making me understand Fitz.
But still - OH MY GOD.
You’ve done a lot wackier and intensely strange stuff than admit your daughter is the result of your BFF, your wolf-brother, and yourself’s souls mingling Fitz!
You even come to terms with that fact, even if simply choosing to ignore it for the most part that still means you’ve acknowledged it - you’re willing to painstakingly mine information from any and everyone but you don’t tell Beloved about your daughter’s dream journal?
Um??? WHAT???
Wake up dude.
Just poor decisions left and right.
Needless to say I was very frustrated with Fitz for a while but we worked through it.
Oh my god I friggin’ cried when Starling sung her Epic and Fitz was recognized by the court though, oh man that was so satisfying and mystifying and wondrous.
I’m glad Fitz has for the most part gotten over his issues with Amber and the Fool’s various identities and seems very accepting of Ash and Spark.
Bee
Nooooo!
I mean, “No” to Bee still being on her own but mostly “No” about Bee slowly being blocked out of the narrative perspective!
NOOOO
I’d be fascinated to find out how long she was in the Pillar. Based on the narrative we read and assume she’s wandering about around the same time Fitz and company are but we’ve been given nothing in evidence of that.
INTERESTING
Stay safe my little piglet!
The Fool
Yes.
YES.
I’m very intrigued to learn more about Beloved’s dragon blood transformation and what knowledge will come with it.
What will happen if the dragon is truly dead, who will guide their transformation?
ME THINKS FITZ
But, uh, yeah.
While it was uncomfortable I was rather happy that Fool got angry at Fitz and had no trouble telling him to step off.
I wasn’t very pleased with Fitz myself at the time, I was a bit smug about him getting a tray full of food plopped in his lap.
Well done.
I really hope to witness more of Ash and Spark and The Fool’s bond!
Beloved has been alone for so long, has had the opposite later life to Fitz and his massive family.
And what better than taking in and giving shelter to a son and a daughter?
Good stuff.
Shun AKA Shine
CALLED IT.
Oh Shine, you poor dear.
Shine will become an asset to Nettle, I imagine, and I desperately hope she heals and that Kettricken can guide her well and that court does Shine good.
I’m livid and just overall done with Chade, I’m serious.
I feel as though I’ve given Chade benefit of the doubt over and over again and it isn’t like he is an evil person or claims to be something he isn’t - but uuugh what the hell?
If you’re mister cloak and dagger spider web master maybe reel in some goddamn self control and think ahead on the consequences of your personal actions instead of just those of your King and various eyes within the kingdom, come the fuck on dude.
What an idiot sending both his children to a grieving Fitz and for not following up with any information for his children OR for Fitz.
I’d be so upset if I were Shine, I would’t be surprised if she drugs him.
It’d be poetic in a twisted away.
Why did Chade hide Shine from others as well as from herself? What was he thinking, that she’d have to become less shallow, vain, and self-centered before he’d bestow upon her the depths of her lineage?
Chade moans about being denied learning to Skill because he was a bastard but zip! he seals up his bastard daughter’s power because ???
????!!!!!
ANYWAY
I’m glad Shine is safe and that she and Bee came to a functioning relationship even if not one ripe with mutual meaning and growth.
Lant
Chade-light 2.0 and I aren’t hitting it off so well but I’m trying to keep a level head about this sassy lost child.
His biggest sin is that he is boring.
Or, well, I think my real issue with Lant is that he’s young.
So young.
Oddly young.
Older than Per or Ash or Spark yes but younger than them somehow; he doesn’t see, he doesn’t listen, he doesn’t seem to even think for himself.
Rolling about in his self pity that he can’t bang his sister doesn’t help endure him to me either but you know, I’ll take Riddle’s advice and let time and space do it’s thing so maybe by the time the third book comes out I’ll have cooled on Lant.
Ash/Spark
OH SHIT.
I love themmmmmm.
Oh my god.
I’m really really really hoping that Ash, Spark, Per, and Bee are going to be Gen 2 of Elderling mayhem and stories.
That’d be golden.
Smart as a whip and willing to make their own choices, that’s Ash and Spark.
Brilliant.
Perseverance
Talk about stickin’ to your name!
Per is a sweetie and I really need to stop but I can’t help but see him as my son Charlie.
Which is amazing - but gutting at the same time lol.
What have I done?!
Per is perfection and I really hope Fitz does right by him and of everyone traveling now I feel like Per will help Fitz the most as far as his inner space goes.
Per has a understanding and relationship with Bee outside of Fitz’s understanding of his daughter and I think Fitz’ll need to hear about that and mine Per’s perseverance as their quest wears on.
Highlighted Passages
I smiled as the royal family passed, tears of pride stinging my eyes. Our doing, the Fool’s and mine.
“Vengeance?” I asked quietly. “It’s a poor motive for doing anything. Vengeance doesn’t undo what they did. Doesn’t restore whatever they destroyed.”
“Sometimes thanking someone is more important to the person giving the thanks than the one who receives it.”
“I thought you had come here in fury over what I did to you as we passed through the Skill-pillars.” He stepped back from me. “Oh, I’ll leave that to Nettle. If she hasn’t blasted the skin from your flesh with her words yet, you’ve that to look forward to.
I could not think about it at the moment. I tried so hard, but there was just not enough time or enough of me. And trying was not doing.
Safe. As if “safe” were more important than anything else.
With the instincts of all bullies, they knew that eventually she would have to emerge. Then, in the way of their kind, they would peck her to death for being different.
“Ah, Fitz. I can always trust you to have some sort of bizarre problem that breaks my ennui.”
She breathed as if she had run over nine hills. I stared at her. She had been a stranger, a lover, a nemesis, and a betrayer to me. And now she was my historian.
“Why does understanding come so late to us?”
War and hardship had hardened them; I understood that, but it did not mean that I wished to see my own folk mocked or disdained that they were not likewise hardened.
But all fires, of wood or grief, burn down to ashes eventually.
“Doing something stupid and reckless is not a better proof of your love than doing something measured and powerful.”
“Keeping a child from harm is not the same as rearing one.”
“Steady, I’m pregnant, not ill.”
Both logic and love anchored me where I was and doomed me to the suffocation of waiting.
“Every one of them has witnessed what the Servants have done to their fellows. And each has chosen to serve them rather than defy them. Every one of them is more treacherous than you can imagine.”
Once one knows what heartless people can do, it cannot be entirely forgotten. It always remains among the possible things that can befall you.
“Put it behind you, and think about it again in twenty years. Whatever it was, you can’t change it. So stop clinging to it, and let time and distance do their work.”
“I always fail the people I love the most.” “Say rather that you judge yourself more harshly than anyone else ever has.”
“No soup! Anything I can bite and chew. Or crunch! Is there anything crunchy?”
“That I guessed,” Malta said knowingly. “When first I saw him, I felt as if I already knew him.” She smiled at me as if we shared a jest. I smiled back, without understanding.
“Worrying doesn’t solve anything. I know that. In one way I know it but in another it seems wrong. It seems that if I don’t think about all the things that hurt, all the things I’ve done wrong, then I don’t really care.”

Let's Get Stoned and Zoned with These Suggestions
Leighana Martindale
It’s a weird time where we all have a lot of time to kill! While some of us still have to go to work [You are a hero if this is you!! - thank you!] most of us are slowly starting to lose our minds.
And while there a bunch of amazing ways for us to stimulate our brains during this time, sometimes we just want to get stoned and zone out. So this list is for you if you’re looking for something to help you forget about the state of the world.
6 Netflix Shows to Binge:
Tiger King
This show is absolutely insane and I almost feel like Netflix was sitting on this waiting for us all to be home! This show includes murder, drugs, hillbillies, and a whole lot of big cats! I promise you your mind will be blown and you’ll definitely have a ton of wtf?! Moments during this series.
via GIPHY
Grace and Frankie
This is probably one of, if not my all-time favorite shows. Frankie is by far my favorite television character. Her let loose, fuck it, yet be peaceful attitude is the most relatable and literal goals for when I grow up. Follow along with Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda as their husbands leave them to get married to each other.
via GIPHY
Charmed
The power of three is definitely a power not to be messed with. These badass sister witches fight demons and all different kinds of evil in this nostalgic 90s tv show. Definitely recommend if you’re into mystical types of TV shows - nothing too realistic or violent though, so safe to watch!
via GIPHY
Gilmore Girls
Ahh yes, the mother-daughter duo that we all want to be. Another nostalgic tv show, step back in time with Gilmore girls and even the year in the life Netflix series they did.
via GIPHY
Love is Blind
Normally I am not one for reality tv and definitely not one to recommend it but this experiment was so addicting to watch! The premise is that people meet in these pods so you never see the person, only talk to them - the end goal being to fall in love and get married! It’s crazy, Smoke a joint and watch it, you’ll be into it.
via GIPHY
Shine On
Causing a range of emotions, this show is so well done and so badass. Reese Witherspoon meets with different badass women from different sectors of work and talks with them about their jobs and social constructs. You will probably cry, and it’ll probably be during the episode with p!nk.

*NEW MOON* in SAGITTARIUS 11/26/19 After plunging the depths we rise! Those of us who gave up the ghost are resurrecting from the funeral pyre. Sagittarius brings us a passionate impulse to radically burst forth in a new direction, to cast off our clothing and shackles, and let our arrows fly. And while there’s a real wind that can lift us to higher ground, we can temper our impulses with a grounded strategic vision to expand in the ways our Soul has deeply desired. It’s the result of genuine healing which allows us to be brave hearts, ready to face whatever challenges may arise, because we are coming from our authentic truth. That is the freedom net that Sagittarius casts forth, as the light breaks upon the horizon… ::: PAT LILES says : “our horizons expand : Axis Mundi : allow love and connection to all beings be the guiding force : release where we have felt wounded in love and respect : acceleration and evolution: differentiating from the dominant culture : deep in our dream-creating essence : welcome in what awaits us after our lengthy surrender of the old” : PAM YOUNGHANS: “tune our thoughts to the right vibrations in order to attract the right results : AND being open to the Will of the Cosmos” : APRIL ELLIOT KENT: “Envisioning something that hasn’t existed before : ignore nay-sayers : resist the urge to imitate others : keep dreaming bigger dreams for ourselves, and for our world” : ELLIAS LONSDALE: “something extraordinary is happening : liberated to conceive the inconceivable and to renew your tangled and damaged roots in the old wise woman way that never ages and always works” ::: Full download >mysticmamma.com ARTbyme #MYSTICMAMMA > “EROS ARROW” (Edited) Limited Edition Prints in shop ↠🖤

i'm viewing this time as our opportunity to reconnect with ourselves and the people and place that gives us life (ahem, planet earth). life has been stripped back for the majority of the world. we've lost access to daily distractions. we're forced to isolate. some of us are really, really sick. some of us don't have the privilege to stay at home. yet all of us are going through this together. how are you treating others during this time? have you reached out and checked in? are you checking in with yourself? if you have access, are you engaging with nature? have we all thought about how our earth gives and gives and gives, how humans take and take and take? are you observing how this whole thing has interrupted your typical daily consumption?

Strains to Puff Puff on:
- GDP
Granddaddy Purple is one of my favorite Indica cultivars. With deep purple notes and a strongly sweet and earthly aroma, it’s hard not to enjoy this strain and its one that’s been around for years.
- Hindu Kush
Another amazing Indica, and one with an international fan base, Hindu kush has that deep piney smell with strong notes of caryophyllene.
- Orange Cookies
This delicious strain not only has notes of sweet orange but that pungy gasoline smell that a lot of the cookies family is infamous for.
- Sour Tangie
Of course a true favorite, sour tangie is a delicious cross of tangie x sour diesel giving you that sweet orange with a sour chem flavor that is strong! If you’re lucky enough to get some bud from the highly sought after genetics - which comes from true NY sour diesel genetics, then you should count your blessings and use a hemp-wick!
[p.s.: smoking with Hemp-wick helps you taste the true terpene profile of a flower instead of burning those flavors with butane]
- Do-si-dos
A huge hit in cannabis markets across the world lately, do-si-dos has a strong and pleasant aroma to it and is apart of the cookies family. Do-si-dos genetics are og kush x girl scout cookies so you can imagine how tasty it truly is.
- Helen Back
This strain has such a good terpene profile and beautiful bud structure, especially when you are getting high noon cult’s cut of it! Their genetics and the love they put into their bud’s are amazing! Helen back is an animal cookies cross and one I would highly recommend seeking out!

Have You Heard? Can’t-Miss August Podcasts
Each Wednesday, I interview one of the world’s leading experts in holistic health.
This month, we talked about brain health…why plant starches are actually good for you…real talk about food fads…how music can help you sleep…and how to achieve “radical metabolism” for weight loss!
Here’s a quick roundup of the high vibes you might have missed:
Prefer reading to listening? A link to the transcript is in the show notes for each podcast!
Ready to take your brain to the next level?
If anyone has a key to unlock the mysteries of the human brain, it’s Dr. Daniel Amen, acclaimed psychiatrist and author of more than 100 books and articles on brain health.
Learn what separates a healthy brain from an unhealthy brain, as well as revolutionary ways to sharpen your memory, improve your attention span, and regulate your emotions and behavior.
“The beautiful thing is, you’re not stuck with the brain you have. You can make it better. And I can prove it.”
-Dr. Daniel Amen

Starch: Not the food villain you thought!
From all the starch-shaming in pop culture these days, you’d think potatoes, corn, and rice were the axis of evil.
But Dr. John McDougall, one of my earliest influencers (and now a renowned doctor, bestselling author, and acclaimed nutrition instructor) is here to defend plant starches. Find out why plant starches’ bad rap is costing you far more than your favorite food.
“I’ve learned that people get sick when they switch from a diet of starch. And I want you to listen carefully to what I’m saying. I’m saying ‘starch.’ You know, the foods you were taught are evil.”
-Dr. John McDougall
Listen to Episode 93: The Power of Plants and Starches
Real talk on trendy diets and food fads
If you’re looking for a reality check on food fads and diet-culture, this episode is for you.
Dr. David Friedman, clinical nutritionist and national bestselling author of Food Sanity: How to Eat in a World of Fads and Fiction is here to debunk the most popular–and insidious–diet myths of our time. Including the idea that cow’s milk does a body good, and artificial sweeteners are a great way to keep your figure looking trim.
“Ignore those unreliable scientific studies. Tap into your instincts. Trust your gut, instead of relying on what you hear in the media this week and next. Then let’s explore the biology of the body and see what we were really designed to eat.”
-Dr. David Friedman

Why people everywhere are swapping Ambien for music
Michael Tyrrell is a musician, composer, producer, and author whose life work is the healing frequencies and energies of music — especially for healing sleep disorders.
You’re going to want to remember the number 444. It’s the musical frequency that packs all the punch of Ambien with none of the side effects.
“Every part of our life centers around frequency, but very few people understand the incredible ramifications of that fact.”
-Michael Tyrrell
Listen to Episode 95: Music for High-Vibe Sleep with Michael Tyrrell
What does bile have to do with weight loss? A lot, actually!
Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD, has been recognized as one of the top 10 nutritionists in the US. And she’s on a mission to help women (and men) everywhere heal their metabolism, lose the weight, and reclaim their health.
Struggling to lose weight? Find out why Dr. Gittleman believes that healthy, free-flowing bile is one of the absolute best ways to kick your metabolism into gear.
“Bile isn’t a very sexy topic, but it should be. Free-flowing bile breaks down fats, helps flush toxins from the liver, and revs thyroid function so we can slim down without such an intense struggle.”
-Ann Louise Gittleman, PhD
