Found out today that Opa/Tem has his own personal site where he's put a lot of his writing, which offers some interesting clues to what was going on in some of the VNs and what went down between him and Glip.

Opa has a disclaimer on the story page that they had a lot of fun writing for Flora but also that it was difficult and painful at times (it's always painful!) since a lot of their work was never used, despite promises to the contrary. This matches up perfectly with the fight between Quill (Opa) and Papaya (Glip) in Quixate and Ellaroux Change Storgo, just as I suspected.

In the VN, Papaya says that Quill started a scene with her. "Scenes" in the flora discords were supposed to be ways people could work out interpersonal conflicts in a controlled setting, but as far as I can tell mostly ended up with people shrieking the most hurtful things they could think of at each other and then going "just kidding! we were rping! X3 y u mad" after. So presumably Opa was the one who'd had enough and wanted to try and work through all this since he started the scene, although this is Glip's rendition of how it went.

In the VN, Papaya and Quill cry and tell each other they love each other after Quill calls off the scene because he feels too bad. I'm more skeptical about this part.

On Opa's site, he says he put his unpublished Floraverse stories on a wordpress site and then linked to it on a "tiny server", which he then got "in trouble" for. He has to mean that Glip found out about it and got mad, although if the tiny server in question wasn't the Floraverse one then did people report back to Glip about it? He is quite bitter about it though.

It was a problem, apparently, that I was sharing my own creative work that someone else was hoping to monetize for themself. That incident killed my interest to keep developing a website. Six years later, here we are! Anyway, I see no reason not to share them now. I'm still proud of the ones listed here. (There are some I'm leaving off for now.)

Six years ago puts this right in near the beginning of the MS Paint era, with the embarrassing VNs of Hothead owning the haters on Twitter. In the write-ups for some of the older stories, Opa mentions being scared that Floraverse was dead forever (this was around when Glip went into hiding for a period of several months after Marl's crimes were exposed). It's interesting then that Glip apparently still got mad that Opa was posting his stories to his site even when Floraverse was going off the rails. Did they actually intend to use them or did they just not want to "lose" them?

There's more lingering bitterness in the descriptions for a lot of the stories about various things, like being ignored in RPs or working hard for no end result.

This was me trying to get Quarrel over to Eastar. It's okay, I guess, although then it got overwritten by Quarrel needing to be elsewhere, and then… I don't know. It's surprising, making this website, seeing how much I produced that never went anywhere and could never be shared. I get that making a big project means being willing to put in effort that ends up not being used directly, but… I'm not sure. It's one thing when you put in work that you then realize isn't right for the project. This feels more like stuff that was ignored until it could go away.

The general impression I get is that he and Glip are done professionally. At the same time though, Opa is still going to bat for Glip and co. on Bsky and defending them against the haters, so it doesn't sound like their relationship is entirely over? Splitting ties creatively but not personally sounds way outside of Glip's capabilities but I don't know. I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

Anyway, there's also some interesting comic lore to be learned here. I haven't read the new stories listed here (aside from Nurse to Health) but from the summaries...

Charthur has a sister??

There are VN panels of Eastar Charthur somewhere, so she might have actually been close to showing up in the comic for real, but it never happened. Eastar Biff was supposed to be there!

Opa at one point says "pity Wishbone never went anywhere", so he is also frustrated with how plotlines in Floraverse never resolve properly lol.

Tempo, the bizarre spindly thing, is one of Opa's characters apparently, which is where Tem comes from.

He wrote a trilogy about Neon which is "temporarily removed". I wonder if Glip told him to take it down.

He wrote a story for Thorn, one of the Cardinals in the Althair RP that got no screen-time whatsoever at all. Were they Opa's character? He says he'd lost his motivation at this point (RP troubles stacking up, perhaps?)

Opa is the one who wrote Practice Run, that one game about Neon that I completely skipped. Maybe someday I'll go back to it if I get really bored.

Opa wanted to make more of the RPG game with Charthur and Jasmaby but it got too complicated and he lost steam.

He mentions writing New Employee Orientation was fun but it was a shame it never went anywhere. At least someone's acknowledging how often Flora drops its plots!! He says it was deleted off of the site and he doesn't know why, although the files themselves are still there. Taking a look at it, it has indeed been deleted. Glip must have gotten rid of it in a fit of pique or something.

He made a little game sequel to New Employee Orientation, but

I was really eager to share it. Then I was told I couldn't share it until someone had made a song to go with it, and that song was never made. I brought up that I was still waiting a few times, but it never went anywhere. It hurt a lot. At least now I have a place to share it.

Glip was so controlling about this stuff.

He made three birthday games, one for Eevee, Glip, and someone called Poketto. He only refers to them as "someone" on the site, although Eevee's has her name in the title of the game.

Opa wrote some more stories in Twine about the Tigers, with a note

A trilogy of stories written about Charthur and Jasmaby. These never got shared anywhere, which is too bad, because I had fun writing them. I wrote so many stories that were forever kept in the vault for one reason or another. I'm sharing these now, as I'm pretty sure every reason to hold them back has long, long since become moot.

Becoming moot is an interesting choice of words. Again it implies Opa cut ties with Glip, but as I said he's still white knighting for them/Floraverse on bsky. What does it all mean...

Opa wrote a story about escaping the worst roommate ever and says it's "based on a true story. Kinda." 🤔 This could be about the whole Jolly thing but I'd have to refresh myself on that.

while I don't think the character fusion thing is a fetish (it's just plain cool tbh), *some* people in flora's inner circle like to skirt the line between fetish stuff and sfw so I can't really say for sure. kinda reminds me of the neon/lily/chip fusion, Nilly. (I think it'd be cool if Charthur and Neon were being bffs so hard they fused into one (like in Steven Universe) so at least half of Charthur could be relevant to the comic teehee)

You're right, I might have jumped the gun on that one. Mostly I'm thinking of the Lexy/Ko'pe thing, but on further thought that's really more of Eevee's fetish than Glip's. She's making a whole game about how hot Lexy merging and turning into things is after all.

Poor Neon, even she isn't relevant to the comic anymore and she was a huge character for a long time! We just get cameos of her so Glip can jingle more keys to get old readers' attention. Not to mention she's not even the same Neon because of the stupid frequency nonsense. :/

That's true, neither of them have been very mean to anyone, although I tend to think of Charthur as more spunky than nice (not that they cancel each other out). Mostly she just has trouble understanding her feelings and gets insecure sometimes. Biff was always cool. Cozmo too, he was kind and understanding to the Beholding Sirens when everyone else seems to think of them as horrible monsters. I can't picture any of them screaming at people like the Glipserts usually do.

Tried to get the reply about you but it seems like they deleted it somehow. All I know is that it brought an ick that you described the situation they were in as drama but not enough to be actually against what you're doing. They also noted that to understand Flora, you need to be buddy buddy with Glip, making this whole thing the finall boss of sisyphus.

Eh, that's fair. It's crazy to think of how close you have to get to Glip to understand anything - even Samael/Sunbe still has huge gaps in their doc of Florafacts and they're one of the closest people to Glip now. I suspect that no one can really understand the comic but Glip, it's not really for anyone else at this point. Still I remain...

These shots of merged Quixate and Ellaroux are bizarre. Glip's really into fusing characters for whatever reason (probably fetish reasons, given that one porn comic with Lexy and Ko'pe). Will this happen in canon?? Who can say!!

It looks like Ellaroux is the less dominant person in the fusion, since it's mostly Quixate with an eye scarf. Ellaroux keeps their aggro Glipness though. All Glipserts have the same kind of abrasive, "telling it how it is" personality that Glip themselves have, for all their talk of being kind and gentle and understanding to everyone. Are there any Floraverse characters that are just nice? 🤔

I have no mouth and I must scream!! At this point that means Glip has two characters that are in love with Quixate, the Principal and themselves. Will there be more?? Can Glip get even more weirdly intense about their new favorite??? Only time will tell...

Like what Charthurfan said, saying anything critical about Flora will always attract the same two groups no matter what platform it spreads in. Tumblr at this moment is a pretty good place to talk behind anons but it's not safe when the word gets out off-site. Especially when Minor A has briefly mentioned you on Bluesky.

I've been monitoring the members of Flora and all of them are seemingly try to victimize themselves to no avail. One of the victims left Bluesky after the members got to them again and is now residing in their personal discord server.

Been also seeing this another version of fused Quixate and Ellaroux design and I found more of it on Kuri's Toyhouse. Will be sending those sometime soon.

Wait they did?? I hope I haven't caused them any grief or anything, they have nothing but my sympathy. It's been blessedly quiet here so far.

It doesn't surprise me that they're all still hounding people, that's been Glip's modus operandi since back when they were actually popular lol. Hope whoever it is is taking care of themselves at least.

Quixate was supposed to marry that lady! What was that about! He's dating the Principal and maybe they got married! Is Quixate poly?? That hadn't occurred to me before but now that I say that it seems likely, Glip's poly after all.

Really don't think there are any critical Floraverse servers out there at all from my knowledge. Perferably there's none due to how terrifying the background of Flora is that no one would make a small place to talk about this.

Though at the same time, who would even want to waste their time on a convoluted story that no one will know the answer to?

About the Quixate thing, is it me or am I finding this whole thing now weird? I get you like a character that much but the fact that they gave Quixate's player a server and is now being the favorite out of Glip is pretty daunting considering Kuri/Buchbrennerin has been in the spaces since she was a minor as stated in Floracast.

Probably, the insane amounts of horrifying drama around Floraverse I think pushes away even the genuinely curious. I feel like most remaining Floraverse fans probably started the comic before it went off the rails and are hanging onto that old vision of it, if they aren't caught up in trainwreck syndrome.

The Quixate thing is definitely getting strange. Glip's drawn Papaya having sex with various characters before (mostly Lexy, but also Toyle and I think Cerise?) but she wasn't wearing her mask for any of those, so it was easier to see her as just another character. Glip represents themselves as Papaya WITH the mask though, so now drawing porn with Masked Papaya/Ellaroux feels even more weirdly personal.

WAIT KURI WAS A MINOR??? REALLY?????/?? OH MY GOD that's INSANE, WHAT. Even assuming Kuri wasn't creeped on as a minor (unlikely given Floraverse spaces' record) the age gap between them must be huge. This is blowing my mind right now.

You could make the vids under a sock but it'd still lead to lots of fights I'm sure. You COULD do it though, it's an unfilled niche aside from like... me I think, and I'm still mostly fascinated by how the drama and the comic intersect in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. If the comic was good none of us would be here I think lol. The pain of being fixated on something you don't even like 😔

The itchio post was so insanely tone-deaf, it's kind of amazing. Right on the heels of them cracking down on adult games and the whole movement to fight against censorship and them sticking to their guns and refusing to sell any kind of adult games at all, and then bam, they advertise a fetish game. A safe-for-work fetish game, but still! Was their publicity guy just not in the loop at all? Insane.

I know i'm late on this response though when there was an attempt to remake Floraverse in a discord server, that place was hijacked and taken over by Glip to become the Eastar server it is today.

This is true! Everything about the whole debacle sounds so embarrassing tbh. I don't know if there are any other concerted efforts to "fix" Floraverse out there, or groups focused on doing it, but I assume if there are they'll probably meet the same fate. There are better ways to spend your time! I say this even after writing a billion words summarizing the stupid comic because there were definitely better ways for me to spend MY time but I did it anyway for inexplicable reasons.

There could be Discord groups out there for victims of Glip and Floraverse, though I don't know what they are off the top of my head. They seem to keep a low profile, aside from the floraverseisacult site. I don't know if there are any for critical talk about the comic itself though. I'm fine just hanging out here in my corner chatting occasionally with you anons personally.

In recent Glip news, they posted art on bsky of Quixate and Ellaroux definitely having sex while saying they love Quixate, so there's that. The line between Glip/Ellaroux/Papaya just gets thinner every day. How thin is the line between Quixate and his player? Who can say...

On her end, Eevee's fetish game got a shout-out by the itch.io bluesky account which went over quite badly for a whole host of reasons. She continues to struggle with whether or not you should tag safe-for-work kinks as kink/label them as adult, since she wants it to be accessible to all audiences but also still be a kink. She draws parallels to Kojima and the Metal Gear series which is odd since like all his games are rated M but whatever.

The guy who made the So Sorry video said that people have asked him if he'll do one about Floraverse and he's thinking about it, then he said someone attempted to bribe him into not making one, which is hilarious. What could they even offer him?? And way to make your group look even more suspicious. Curious about how that'll pan out. Most of the vids or write-ups about Floraverse never get into the comic itself, saying it's an incomprehensible mess which is true, but I feel like you miss a lot of fascinating aspects of all the drama if you don't look into them at least a little. Proof of Samael being very involved in the community for years and also possibly dating Glip is all in the comic, for example.

Ellaroux and Papaya's character distinction is hard to tell. At least some of the self-inserts had a distinction, however, Ellaroux and Papaya have a blurred line that it's a guess who game.

Pretty much, all I've got is that Ellaroux seems calmer than Papaya and also more nude for some reason. They seem to be in love with Quixate or in a relationship with him too? No mention of Lexy anywhere yet. Unmasked Papaya still shows up sometimes and I don't know if she's also been renamed?? idk man

The original purpose of Masked Lexy and Masked Papaya were to act as OOC versions of their in-universe counterparts. Is that distinction still relevant or consistent in the current comic?

Not particularly. The last time we saw Papaya she was having that big argument with Quill and that came to nothing, at least in the comic itself. Masked Papaya goes by Ellaroux now, they're still sort of the original Papaya but mostly Glip now. Mostly Hothead talks to Ellaroux like they're still Papaya regarding that fat imposter, but they don't act like the original Papaya at all. With the new plot apparently returning to Wishbone where the fat imposter was, maybe we'll get a follow up on that? I doubt it though.

Why use old characters when you can just make a ton of new ones! Glip mentioned on bsky that they've created 14 new characters for the next VN because sure, just pack 'em in there like sardines, why not. Beleth and Orobas are supposedly going to be in it, and maybe Amdusias, but in what capacity I have no idea. Maybe it'll be about them or maybe they'll just be cameos in this flock of new technicolor furries to not care about. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Life Review

Life Review

Unsurprisingly, there were only two comic pages before a new VN came out. Very little happened in them except Quixate and Hothead had a sort of twee conversation with a weird floating soul, saying it got lost but found its way to Cenastre. Hothead tells the soul it needs to become real to stop being lost, and when the soul asks how it does that, Hothead says it has to "touch hearts", specifying that that's different than baring your heart since that's more one-sided. Not that it matters, this all got dropped completely when this VN got released.

No one else is credited for the writing in this one, so I assume it's all Glip. They say that this is, as always, filled with painful feelings! Truly, art is pain! There are some deep and healing feelings in this as well, so they say. You be the judge!

The title card has the Principal in its snake form. There are two forms of the Principal it seems, snake and dinosaur, and I had to do some backreading to see what they were up to. 

Snake Principal: ⦁    Told Decabook to stop scaring the children about him molesting them (i think this is snake principal, we can't see the lower body) ⦁    Wanted to get into a suicide pact with Quixate, was a big whiny sadsack to him about being evil and contaminated ⦁    Went to a wacky wiggly inflatable tube thing and asked it to change it, underwent "suilege"

Dino Principal: ⦁    Sealed on Pike, escaped and caused a bunch of tragedies, ate the moon's rim, took over the Art Pyramid ⦁    Asked Quixate to succ from it against its will ⦁    Met up with Andre to talk about ending the war ⦁    Walked around a pen squiggle place talking to a bunch of flowers about being crazy ⦁    Talked to Sunbe's pink glowworm thing about "dissolving the barriers" ⦁    Was in Love's play about wicked charlatans

Not really sure what it signifies. I guess snake Principal got reborn as dino Principal via suilege or whatever. Anyway, Ellaroux hops down a hole holding something that kind of looks like scissors, kind of.

Snake Principal is at the bottom of the hole, and Ellaroux appears with the thing around its neck. It's sort of like the hinge of the spring or trampoline in Donkey Kong, I'm not sure what the word for it is. Ellaroux stands on its head.

With a split angel face, Ellaroux asks how the Principal is still alive after everything it's done. Principal says that eternal/forever/always. Ellaroux says it hasn't acted like it and Principal repeats himself. Ellaroux screams at it to prove it. Glip has always self-inserted into this comic but at least they'd put a character in-between to try and pretend it wasn't just them (Beleth, Neon, Jupet, Phesund). Ellaroux is just Glip, which makes these scenes even more annoying. You, the author, are coming into the story to chastise one of the characters you wrote, like this is somehow some kind of plot or event with any kind of stakes. Why are you godmoding your own characters!! Aaaarghhh

Anyway, the red spring thing dissipates and two doors appear, one white and one black. The dissolved red spring turns into leafy Kiwiface. Did you guess leafy Kiwiface immediately started throwing sigils around? You'd be right!

We then get what appears to be flashback panels to the Principal's life, or maybe its life in another dimension or timeline or frequency or something. It meets Quixate and then apparently they have sex. Quixate is ridiculously burly, which feels like a joke. I'm not sure what Principal is doing, is it its tail or does it have tentacles? Anyway, there's also a shot of dino Principal and a weird thing that looks similar to Quixate, maybe the Lady he was supposed to marry. Not sure.

More images get overlaid on this. I'm not sure if they're supposed to indicate events in a chronological order or are just random people. Buff Quixate wanders off, Lady gets threatened by a triangle, some kind of weird tree creature has no hands, Buchbrennerin pokes Quixate with her burning feelers, a star explodes, Andre is there, some snake looking thing is there (Good Knight? idk), Baphomet is there, and yet another kiwiface looking tree is there. I suppose this is the life review.

The wall between the doors gets taken up with all these panels while leafy Kiwiface stands there looking smug. She throws another sigil at the Principal, who has reacted to everything with dull surprise.

We cut to dino Principal talking to Quixate. It talks about creating a plague that will kill the forests of Glissod to teach Gaap a lesson. She'll know the angels' suffering through the death of all the trees from a Spirit-type plague, spread through accepting war and conflict. The trees would rather die than support the idea, and Principal cackles imagining Andre also dying with Owel soon to follow. It thinks them dying due to their own ignorance of their sins would be hilarious. Weirdly, Quixate has nothing to say about any of this.

We cut back to snake Principal looking somewhat ashamed. Leafy Kiwiface throws some more sigils at it, gotta love em! Principal is back to being a sad sack again and wonders how that'll help before giving in like a sulky child.

We then get a big wall of text because I guess Glip got tired of drawing again. It keeps seeing all its lives and potential lives and feeling bad about it, since the alternative is dying and being reborn, but it hopes someday it'll get to see Quixate again. It gets shown Gaap wandering around Glissod in anguish over all the trees dying, not understanding why. Principal reflects on what the point was on killing so many people and ruining the land if no one understands why it's happening. It feels bad about it, thinking about how all the woodland creatures didn't declare war on angels so why did they also have to suffer? You'd think Quixate would have mentioned this to it at the time but I guess that would've created some kind of conflict and we can't have that.

While Gaap was trying to figure out what was going on, Andre died and split into several fragments (Phesund and Stolas etc.). It's mentioned that Principal decided to kill everyone in a fit of "energetic mania" so I guess maybe it's bipolar, I dunno. It remembers Quixate trying to tell it that Andre had changed and feels bad about how it didn't realize sooner that that was true. It curls up with a :V mouth while Leafy Kiwiface throws a fern at it.

We cut to Principal tied up in a cage hanging over a pit. Ellaroux is there and climbs into the cage, telling it they have to be quiet. A giant Kiwiface shows up, looking like a snake with wings all over it.

Biblically accurate Kiwiface

Principal gets taken to the Luminousity Dimension, looking neutral. We then cut to it and Ellaroux on the streets of Arc, with Ellaroux stomping along looking pissed off. They complain that they don't know what to do now. Principal says they can split up since Ellaroux's already been helpful. Ellaroux says "So that's it? I'm helpful and then you're done with me?" The Principal says that's not what it meant, and says it wanted to make a helpful suggestion in return for the help they gave it so far, and says that Ellaroux doesn't seem to like it very much.

Ellaroux clarifies that they hate Arc, and Principal says that hating Arc makes it worse. Ellaroux reluctantly agrees but says that splitting up isn't a good idea unless the Principal is somewhere safe.

We abruptly cut to Principal in a bunch of flowers with someone calling out to it, saying it's his prince. It's Quixate of course, and he says that "his Dame" is joining them in his dreams.

We cut back to Principal in Arc coiled up. It asks someone what they want. We then abruptly hit some static and cut somewhere else where a wiggly triangle head worm says hello to Eastar.

This is YET ANOTHER version of Andre, and he says that the Librarian (leafy Kiwiface) is tired since they're mostly energized at night, and it hasn't been night in a long time. This Andre is rather cheerful, saying he's filling in for Kiwiface with a Discord reference, saying it's time for #introductions again. I assume this was all played out in the Discord. Andre demands everyone justify their presence in the channel to prove they're normal "about this" and then says Welcome if they already did so.

Recently Glip did a comic with CC going over the rules of their own Discord where they decided to kick out all the minors, which was very overdue. At the beginning of it though, they said that they also were kicking out all the lurkers and anyone they didn't think was there in good faith, so I assume this is related to that.

Andre says that Wishbone is a fun signal... NOT!!! He says he didn't like "reading that one" since it was an attack on his continent from Arcus to Wishbone (I guess he means Paige writing the script of what happens?). So was Phesund still there while this was attack was happening, was he involved? Was it his idea? Eh, who cares about Phesund anymore, he's old news. Laughing, Andre says he told the Librarian that he'd show them what he'd learned.

Then annoyed, he says that a red diamond, Wishbone, is a signal he can work with, while Chance, a similar looking diamond, lost its chance. Chance was back in the original frequency where this all started, if I remember right. Laughing awkwardly again, Andre asks what is stealing, and how you define stealing from land and a bunch of other things like Angels or Hellside.

Andre, frustrated, says they're not speaking the same language and wonders what to do when it gets confusing. He then seems to get distracted, saying everyone is little animals and everyone needs to take care of their animal bodies. He then shows up in a dark hallway with a Mask of the Sun door, wondering why it sounds like a haunted house. This version of Andre is rather flighty and disjointed, as you can probably tell.

He asks why this is what's arriving from Dewclaw and Arcus while the smiley door starts frowning lol.

He complains that it's dreary and lonely, and there's forgetting, but then cheers up as he says that the remembering later is nice and helps with the signals. Forgetting got mentioned before in the MSPaint era, where Baphomet wrote Paige a letter about needing words to combat the forgetting, and some of the original angel lore where they'd erase your sense of self. Surprised to see that come back after all this time. He says he remembers this, then shows off an emoticon that looks like |^> and says it's like "Not-Sure", then talks about "the bluing of the names" and "oh, to have a voice". Don't take that for granted, he says, as the emoticon gets a googly eye.

He laughs and brings up Phesund, saying it was weird to have a little animal body. He says he remembers biting his fingers, his heart beating, making mistakes and forgetting things and falling in love! Remember that? Phesund's barely developed relationship with Deca? That sure went nowhere, huh? Andre says he went to Arcus for that. It was worth it, he says, but wow did it hurt. I assume this is actually about Pengo and Glip having a falling out.

We get a static scene shift to triangle Andre again and it appears to be raining. He says it got rough earlier, and that he learned a lot about apologizing over time, but they don't prepare you for the effects of "it feels bad". He appears to melt a bit as he says that he's learned not to do things because it made him feel bad last time.

what are "consequences"

Andre talks about how much it hurt and that he just wants it to be better already, looking even more smeary. He then brightens up and unsmears while talking about he's going to paint murals in Wishbone. He says there's a guy he knew (peeked at) and that he changed his Turf Tiger ability from WAR? to WARD. He'd go around drawing on places to make them safe, like how WAR made safe places to fight, but without the fighting, just in case there was any source of actual conflict left in this comic. Andre laments not asking him about his secrets, then gets smeary again. He says he'll ask him the next time he gets a chance.

Andre says he thinks the WARD thing is a good idea so he's going to do it and add protection around Althar. He says he's going to try and bring his sister's other body parts back, saying that Sample is now just a head and has to be carried around everywhere. The only real choices she gets to make are what to sing about. Andre is sure with the Librarian's help he'll be able to restore her.

Andre wonders out loud who wanted to help, then says if you're one of the ones who want to help FILL OUT THE APPLICATION!!!!!

He then clarifies he hasn't made the application yet. Oh triangle Andre, you're so wacky! He says the application will just be pictures since he hates paperwork. He says that's all for now and invites you to think about what kind of protections you'd put on a place you love. We can make it a collaboration! he says before there's a clap of thunder. This startles him and the rain starts smearing him again, and he says he wasn't trying to be ominous.

We static cut to Andre again, congratulating everyone on their very normal introductions. He says he hasn't finished the applications yet but he's working on it. He says he's taking his time, and that if he doesn't, someone else will, and he's not letting that happen again. He asks how many of you have died before, saying he's died twice and his least favorite part is being born again. Dying's not so bad, everything makes sense again, but when you're born you don't know anything and have to relearn it.

Andre says he's talking about this for a reason and that he'shelping incarnations now that he has the experience, and he's helping the Librarian put souls into new bodies, which is what the initial comic was about. He says that some may still be in a life, so possibly souls are being stolen? He's also making some kind of portal. He says he wants to do something better than the last time with Wishbone, I guess referring to the last RP set there. He says he's still learning how to heal and fix things (all the drama that no doubt ensued in the old rp), but that's why he's doing this. He says it's kind of like homework since he "enabled lives to be taken".

Andre says he's a different angel this time and he's changed, but he doesn't want to wear his old mask since it was stressful. This new triangle mask is his FAVORITE SHAPE, as the art pyramid is a bunch of triangles and so is Wishbone. By triangle math, the Art Pyramid is worth three Wishbones, so he thinks he can do this. He then brings up resonances, saying that normally a Dreamer can change resonances as they grow, but that got kind of stuck in places. He says he's the resonances of faith, regeneration, and reparations, but says he doesn't know what that means yet. He does have faith in everyone though to work well together, since he has to vet who gets to live in Eastar (who participates in the RP, probably).

He says that part of his job is determining resonances and that it's hard work. He starts smearing as he's not sure why it's important for him to recognize the different resonances. The Librarian said he should know before doing more advanced work, anyway. He says he'll share more about angels and resonances later. Resonating has come up a few times before but it's never been fully explained. You can resonate with an angel which can sometimes be good and sometimes be bad, so there's that I guess.

Another static cut away. Andre says he fell asleep and his dreams were everywhere, and it was like a broadcast changing channels quick.

He says there was a cake made of sludge, presumably referring to Toxodei and Euphobia back during that Valentine's Day VN. He wonders how Dreamers can eat all the time, scoffing at how weak their bodies are. He is happy about how if he does eat he can paint for longer though. He says that Lunekos distract him sometimes, and that a prince of the Lunekos said that Andre is the Luneko Star, servant to Lunekos, although he doesn't know what that is (cat owner). He says that one thing Althar got right was that Lunekos are very important there and he'll do the same for Wishbone

Anyway, Andre rambles a bit about how much he loves art and how powerful it is. He says almost everyone in Wishbone is a statue (???) and that magic did it, so he needs to fix it, although he asks if anyone out here wants to help. Speculating about what someone might do, he suggests going back in time before "the accident" happened. He says Wishbone needs a new dream and he can paint it into being, but he'd like some suggestions. Last time there was the Major and Minor Arcana (that thing with Papaya of Pentacles, which we saw nothing of). He says we don't need that, although some angels from that time might still be hanging around. All of this sounds like RP prompting. Andre says he'll scold angels being mean in an eyerolling moeblob kind of way.

He wonders what angels of Wishbone's future might look like, hoping they like painting. He loves the idea of a city with art everywhere, instead of burnt walls and towers of rock. He also loves the idea of being able to go into so many pieces of art. He then abruptly gets an idea and runs off.

After another static cut-off, Andre comes back to say he made a painting of Phesund and went in to surprise him. He says Phesund recognized him but the visuals were lacking, but with practice Phesund can get better at dreaming. The camera pulls out to show the Principal and Euphobia watching one of those TVs from before. They don't look particularly impressed.

The screen clicks off, and the Prinicipal asks where they can get paint. Euphobia suggests their own bodies. The VN then just ends. Welp!

Strangely, even though this really sounds like the introduction to a new RP, Glip doesn't mention that anywhere in the desc. Nothing about applying for it or when it's starting or anything. I guess Glip got tired of how they can't control everyone during an RP and decided to take full control themselves. On bsky Glip has been talking about the next VN and Beleth and Orobas are supposedly in it, and that they've been reconnecting with Amdusias. I remain dubious. I guess we'll see when the next one drops.

I think Sam has been in the flora community for at least 5 or so years now? Could be more, but from what I know I'd assume it's been that long. IIRC Maya was an old old character glip made that Sam took a liking towards and wanted to RP as, but that's also from what I know.

That makes sense! That'd explain why Maya's been around for such a long time. If she was a relatively minor character I can see why Glip would let Samael play as her, although I wonder what Samael saw in her. She didn't seem to have much going on beforehand, and even in the Egg Change Dream Exchange VN she mostly seemed to be crying about people using her.

Her being aged up is a positive at least, but there is still this odd line from Andre/Phesund.

He mentions painting a child specifically. I guess Andre might not be talking about Maya here although it seems to be implied.

it's curious that maya is a character that belongs (?) to sunbe/samael, when she's been portrayed as a young kitten in the flowercat reference sheet (https://floraverse.com/wiki/species/flowercat/), one of the earliest species sheets ever created for the group during its deviantart days, so it should've been around... almost or somewhere near 10 years ago?

did glip "give away" Maya to samael? or maybe samael is simply allowed to roleplay as Maya? the dream exchange VN does say that samael plays maya, so that could be it? did glip and samael already know each other way back then?

I was also startled by that! I'm not sure what else that bit of text could mean. Shizukan was SUCH a major character! I sort of vaguely recall some drama on twitter involving Shizukan's player but now I can't remember if they were Samael or not. It's all very mysterious.

I'm not sure what to make of this! In the desc for Talwire's Egg Change Dream Exchange, Glip does say that Sunbe plays Maya, which means Maya could have existed beforehand and Samael was given her or the permission to play her. That'd be very weird though, Glip is usually insanely possessive about their characters and how people interpret them. It's possible Samael and Glip knew each other even that far back? I don't really know the trajectory of their friendship. That identical-looking kitten on the refsheet really raises a lot of questions.

One possibility is that the person playing Maya beforehand got on Glip's bad side in the RP, so Glip kicked them out and gave Maya to Samael instead. That'd be strange though, since Glip's talked about just removing people from RPs if they made them upset, not giving away their characters to other people. Maybe Samael saw the kitten design at some point and decided to make a character based on that?

I just remembered that Maya was one of Charthur's students in that fic that never got posted, so I went to check and lo and behold, there she is even back in 2018.

Has there been an unofficial Floraverse work that was more or less successful?

Not that I'm aware of, although admittedly I don't do much searching outside of what's on the site itself. A few times people have tried to reboot or "fix" it via different rewriting projects but all of those fizzled out in pointless drama eventually.

I guess it depends on how you're defining inspiration. Weird looking furries with Pokemon elements? Probably vague enough. Weird looking furries in the Floraverse style? Searchlight beacons pointed your way. I've definitely seen some artists who have no apparent ties to Floraverse but have a VERY Floraverse-esque style, it's a unique look. It'd be very hard to get away with anything in that kind of style.

Not sure who Iris is.

I don't want to go into too much detail about what happens in that VN, it is again very harrowing and disturbing as I said and it's mostly about Glip's own life, not the comic. The little parts I pointed out are all that I really wanted to talk about.

I'm not too familiar with the outside orbiting works of Floraverse, but Samael/Sunbe has definitely shown up in the main comic itself in one way or another. This isn't a comprehensive list by any means, just what I've noticed in the course of summarizing all of these. It's possible Samael was going under other aliases I don't know while contributing to updates.

Toxodei, the fat oil fetish dragon, is one of Sunbe's characters. They show up in Arc, Undertown in what seems to be a relationship with one of Glip's self-inserts, Euphobia, and Glip credits her for a lot of the character writing.

The VN was posted on Valentine's Day, as a note.

Sunbe is also mentioned in Quixate and Ellaroux Change Storgo, implied to be connected or possibly the player for a character called Shizukan.

Shizukan is a MAJOR character and has shown up many many times, and Glip seems particularly fond of her. One VN is actually named after her, Shizukan's Test (in which someone says "Why has Stolas let Jupet see into his mind? Why has Stolas shown something inappropriate to a child." where Stolas and Jupet are both characters of Glip's).

This pink glow-wormy thing is another character of Sunbe's, I think a representation of one of her alternate personalities? I think she came out as multiple recently but I could be misremembering. Anyway, snake guy with the stupid neck arms there is the Principal and another one of Glip's characters.

The VN TALwire's Egg Change Dream Exchange was made specifically FOR Sunbe, featuring her character Maya, a child. Of note is Glip's character, Andre/Phesund, talking about drawing pictures of Maya and not knowing they were bad.

In the VN Maya also starts crying saying she has big messy feelings and feels like Andre used her.

Shizukan also showed up in Stolas: First Speech and Thread Into Althar, presumably playing a large part in the Althar RP that ran for like a year. From what I've heard, RPs in Glip's discords were massively draining and time-intensive affairs that could run for 12 hours at a time with no breaks, so I assume Sunbe/Samael spent lots of very intense time with them all.

Assuming that that one shot does connect Sunbe as Shizukan's player, then her characters began to show up and influence the story in 2023 with Thread into Althar. At least, on the main site. It's possible there were behind-closed-doors RPs that no one will ever know about. If Sunbe ISN'T Shizukan's player, then her influence began to show up at the very beginning of 2024 with TALwire's Egg Change Dream Exchange, although her character Maya was mentioned earlier in some fics that never got posted to the main site and could have been hanging around for a while beforehand. I don't know how long she's been a member of Glip's discords or a patron of theirs in general though.

Haven't found the time to summarize Life Review yet, but in the meantime Glip is back to posting on bsky again, this time with an off-site auto-bio VN called Victim Blaming (same name as another auto-bio comic/VN with Toxinuate). It's pretty harrowing and disturbing (definitely heed the warnings at the beginning), and on the whole it doesn't have anything plot-related in it, but there were a few things that caught my attention I'll briefly point out.

Marl in it is portrayed as Dead Air (a Dead Air?) this time, who first showed up back during the breakdown period hassling Hothead into doing Tarot. Somebody Glip had beef with was also portrayed as a Dead Air in a porn comic about having sex out of spite. People seem to turn into angels when they're experiencing a certain emotional pattern or something, so I guess Dead Air is a self-pitying, lack of empathy, not listening kind of situation. I dunno.

Glip portrays themselves as a blank TALcat, which is a first I think. Blank TALcats have shown up as vectors for TAL mostly, but notably, in the VN that was based on Minor A's COCSA experience on a bus, Minor A was portrayed as a blank TALcat doll. Despite the writer of the VN (w0z) stating that the VN was about Minor A, Glip continues to insist to this day that it's actually about them instead. I feel like these two things are connected.

This is a misrepresentation of their actual answer to the question. Glip doesn't seem to reread anything before talking about it, so I guess this is how they remember it now. This is what their answer actually was:

Experiencing childhood sexual abuse can make someone interested in loli/shota stuff, I'm not saying this interest couldn't have stemmed from it or that Glip didn't realize that until much later. They just misrepresented their answer to downplay what they said.

"finally recognized" obscures how Glip slandered Marl's other victims for years as slutty liars trying to get attention by ruining an innocent man's life. It completely sidesteps responsibility for their decisions and behavior while they were covering up for Marl.

This is a particularly cruel strawman to create for Marl's other victims. Glip wrote a huge apology doc later saying that the other victims were telling the truth the entire time, and still they portray them in this VN as simplistic villains making them miserable unfairly. "and don't care" is portrayed as cruel when Glip in reality didn't care, because they thought they were all lying. "just want to hurt me too" is portrayed as an unfair assumption when Glip did willingly decide to hurt the other victims. They DID hurt them to protect Marl. They DID do that, entirely of their own volition. They say they feel like being associated with Marl's horrors is unfair to them, but they were the one covering up for him for years.

Their excuse for their cruel behavior is that Marl abused them into not recognizing they were in pain, thus absolving themselves of all responsibility for the independent decisions they made to harrass the other victims and call them liars. Every cruel thing they did, said, or drew was because of Marl, you see, they were blameless. This basically invalidates their apology doc entirely.

This is an accurate representation of them lashing out at the other victims unfairly, at least.

Eevee also wrote an essay recently about their history with being preyed on by adults as a minor, but it doesn't really relate to any of this. It's strange that Eevee never shows up in any of these stories Glip tells about their abuse. Eevee was there the whole time. Her absence from it all is so odd. Neither of them ever talk about where she was for all this.

Anyway, I suspect both Eevee and Glip are trying to get ahead of the narrative since a video about So Sorry from Undertale came out recently that had a fairly large section about Floraverse and their crimes. As far as I can tell, their efforts have not been successful.

Did you ever hear about a fan made floraverse spin off? It’s a few years old and from the looks of it, it’s been abandoned. I was following it when it was releasing but the creator eventually stopped. Something about drama between them and floraverse. They seem to have taken it down from most of their social media accounts but it’s still up on itch.

Unsurprising that drama led to the end of it, Glip insists that Floraverse is an open universe under the creative commons license, but they're super controlling about how people use characters and what kind of species they make, etc. They've made several posts about how anyone misinterpreting their characters is torturing them personally so I can't imagine them being okay with anyone doing anything with Floraverse that they don't like. Which kind of goes against it being an open universe, but you know.

Opa's character did made an appearance in Q + E Change Storgo in one of the supposed illustration of the scene Glip and Opa did, so they're not gone from Flora. It's most likely they're still in the community.

Do you mean Quill/Quarrel? I'm not sure what other characters Opa had. It's true Opa could still be in the community, I'm not in any of the discords after all. It sure sounded like Glip and Opa had a falling out though from the scene in the VN and the description on the site. If I felt generous I'd say that maybe Quill and Papaya just had a fake scene fight and it had nothing to do with Glip and Opa in real life but Glip has no boundaries between themselves and their characters so I think it's unlikely. I could be wrong though.

Opa-opa and Temtempo are the same person, just different aliases. They prefer to go by Tem though, as of recently. But yeah Opa/Tem's fanfic was probably the best thing to happen to flora because it made Charthur ever so slightly in the limelight.

Ah, I forgot about Opa went by that, thank you. I know Opa wrote the turf tiger stories, but I don't remember them being credited for any other VNs or things like that. That doesn't mean they weren't involved in the background or credited in the description though. I know for a while Pengo and Glip were fighting so he wouldn't be contributing then, but he did come back in more recent times. Floraverse is so incoherent generally, it's hard to tell whose voice would be where. I remember Axi being mentioned around Circlet of the Sun but I didn't know they were doing any writing. They did get a fair amount of porn on the porn site though. I don't know if they're still dating Glip or what.

Opa at least can write a comprehensible story. Beginnings, middles, ends, characters that have interiority and sensible motivations, decent pacing, clear conflicts. Solid stories that were always rather refreshingly simple compared to the rest of the Floraverse mess. Even that 25 Hour War fic that never got posted for whatever reason explained things better than months of comic blathering. I wonder what went down between him and Glip?

Hi. I talked about Furfur's species before, and it turns out that the answer (given on Tumblr) is just that she had a "faux sphinx" for a parent (and the Imp species sheet calls her a "Satyrbun + mixed 'cat' imp"). I don't much has been said about what a faux sphinx is, but it might be related to the "Cat" species that Alice is part of.

Also, Col has been shown before, but his original design by Exty was much simpler (pretty much a bird with hands and a skull-like facial marking) and his first appearance was basically just an explanation of the "Maladies." I think he got a drastic redesign because Glip and Exty appear to not be on good terms anymore and the original design wasn't prominent enough to stay like it was for Beleth and Amdusias. Maybe frequency shifts just did that too.

Ah, that makes sense. What makes something "faux" is still a little unclear, I assume it just means that something looks like something else, but isn't really. So I guess the "faux" part for Furfur comes from her looking like a pure Satyrbun but not being one?

I understand what you mean, I'm not going to jump down your throat about it or anything, don't worry. This kind of thing can be complicated. For a second I thought Opa had written all the Turf Tiger things, but no, it was Glip and Marl after all. Opa just wrote fic about the two of them that fleshed them both out. I forgot about that part! It's been so long since the Turf Tigers have shown up in any meaningful way, a lot of it has just slipped my mind.

Who is Tem? The name vaguely rings a bell but I can't place it.
