Locally adapted, decentralised innovation is reshaping what environmental monitoring in Africa

Projects like AirQo in Uganda and Clarity Nodes in Nairobi are deploying low-cost particulate matter sensors to create real-time urban air quality maps.  

These portable devices, calibrated against reference stations, are not housed in government ministries—they’re installed in schools, markets, and transit corridors. 

This hyperlocal, community-focused deployment marks a decisive shift toward monitoring as a distributed public good. 

In the water space, compact mobile testing kits—some linked to smartphones—are enabling NGOs and universities to test for E. coli, nitrates, and fluoride in boreholes and streams.  These kits don’t require lab infrastructure or formal training, making them ideal for community-led sampling in rural areas. 

Remote sensing is also playing a vital role. Satellite data from programs like Sentinel and MODIS is being used to track vegetation loss, algal blooms, and surface water dynamics.

The last post made me think about Magnus having to put a hand below his heavy belly, to ease the ache of it a bit - he's too stubborn to admit it's gotten too big by now. Kinda hot.

And Predaking "loafing about" ? Love that as well. Mf was dozing off while his breeder was being tortured with unending pleasure.. Magnus only forgives him because the sex that followed was amazing. But he better not do that again ! (Spoilers: it will happen again).

This time around Magnus is the only one sparked, so he doesn't want to be alone in bed all day, even when he starts getting too big. So he asks to be taken along with Predaking during the day. Which means that Predaking can flaunt his pretty, gravid breeder in front of everyone.

Still toys with the remote, because he does need to keep Magnus busy/entertained even if they're out. He loves showing off Magnus.. but if people stare too hard he gets jealous. So he pulls Magnus closer - his breeder is always on his lap these days - and tells him to keep quiet as he fills that greedy valve. Maybe he's nice and helps hold his big belly once in a while.

Now Magnus is stuck on his stud's large spike, too big to move enough to ride him on his own - forced to keep it warm, while Predaking goes on with his own work. Uselessly clenching around it, desperately needing more but not getting it.

Bonus points if his titties are way too big for his chestplates, so Predaking got him something made out of fiber instead - his titties covered and hidden by cloth, but easily accessed by his stud's large claws. Kneaded and pinched, milked by the pumps or Predaking's claws, depending on his stud's mood.

mhmmmm Magnus sneaking his hands under his belly, so heavy he would usually be in his bed at this point, but he protests, saying he has too much work to do- the truth is he feels a little lonely without an equally sparked Optimus in bed with him, but since the Prime is now taking a break, that's not very feasible... so he struggles through his days with a baby bump so big he can't close his legs anymore, barely fitting into his office chair...⬇️

When he's at the point where work is too taxing and he's having trouble focusing, Predaking takes him along as he fulfills his own duties (i wonder what kind of duties the king of predacons has...) Perhaps at first Magnus takes more direct interest in what Predaking does, but that quickly passes as the carrying cycle progresses and his focus switches to keeping his valve satisfied, his titties milked and his belly cradled.

But it's not enough, the overload is shallow and unsatisfying, he tries to rock against Predaking's lap, and eventually Predaking takes pity on him (how could he not when his poor breeder is moaning so much) and he holds Magnus' belly up to ease the weight, letting him ride his spike until his water breaks...

By the time he's ready to pop, Predaking has him sitting in his lap almost constantly, one clawed hand holding the underside of Magnus' full belly while the other teases the sensitive mesh of his tits, covered up so that no one who strays in gets to see them, per Magnus' wishes, but they're leaking so much through the fiber anyone would immediately get an idea of how good Predaking has it. Magnus sits on his spike, too tired and worn and heavy to start bouncing on it like he'd like to, valve dripping lubricant down Predaking's throne, while Predaking leans back and yet again dozes off... a big beast like him requires a lot of sleep, and Magnus hates it.

Sometimes it's too much and despite himself, Magnus starts whining, struggling and failing to reach around his full belly and touch his node... Predaking just shushes him, kisses his flushed face, the feeling of sharp teeth brushing against Magnus' finials making his valve convulse. Predaking's arm reaches around the underside of Magnus' belly, cold claws rubbing his clit until the commander is squirting himself silly all over the throne...

The internet was created to give the US military a communication system that could survive a nuclear war. The idea was to have an interconnected network of computers without hardline routing. Instead it was handled by variable heuristics. This means that even if half of the nodes were destroyed, the system could find a way to route along different paths and still, eventually, reach it's destination.

It was a brilliant form of asynchronous communication.

Academia had created it, and quickly found great use in networked communication and remote data processing.

And now we use it to view porn. So, what happened?

The World Wide Web. Before the WWW, you had to know the IP address of your friend's computer, be given permission, and then log into his bulletin board service.

The World Wide Web was a system of protocols that created a public internet front. ANY person could find it through HyperText Transfer Protocol, use a public log-in, and access the web site. The HTTP was designed to be crawled by search engines, allowing them to effectively index the entirety of the public-facing internet.

One of the first real search engines was call WebCrawler, because it - crawled - the HTTP of the WWW.

They would load page, then open and index every - single - hyperlink contained in the document, storing and indexing meta tags.

We also ended up with MetaCrawler, that would index multiple other search engines, allowing it to provide a far more comprehensive system of results.

Nowadays, most search engines are meta crawlers, and because of the prominence of Google in searching, Google results are over weighted, meaning that there is almost no way to escape the dogmatism of Google's biased search algorithms.

And the reason we use it for porn is that this was the first viable online business plan.

As I'm closing in on the end of development on the Killer App Mod v1.2 for TRON 2.0, I'm tackling some more difficult things. I have two progress update videos to share today.

Killer App Mod v1.2 will feature upscaled textures. But upscaling was done selectively. Upscaling all the textures, en masse, would consume a lot more memory and disk space, for little benefit.

I would actually be grateful for everyone's assistance, in identifying more TRON 2.0 textures that should receive the upscaling treatment.

If you could send me screenshots on social media of what you think should be upscaled, I'd really appreciate your help.

While testing, I discovered an issue I never noticed before. Thought it might have to do with my setup: GPU, driver install, etc. But, nope. It's for everyone in TRON 2.0, retail vanilla or modded.

Alan's lenses will randomly disappear. But I seem to have fixed it, permanently.

Just had a thought today. We know cars can be remotely controlled if they have any kind of uplink technology implemented in them. The CIA even admitted it.

The problem is you can't really see what you're doing unless you have access to every GPS node like they do.

I'm predicting in ten years, car dealers are going to land an FPV drone in the roof of a car and repo it by driving it back to the dealership like they're playing GTA the wrong way.

Or car thieves are gonna figure out how to do it. Jam or hijack the uplink signal, magnet a drone to the roof, remotely start and drive the car.

(Re)Building the Future Chapter 3

(several hours earlier) 

"Freddie, I could really use some help over here," Gregory comments as he slashes at a zombie rabbit. 

"But I do not have any weapons," Freddie replies,"Just these purple flowers."

"I can't believe you're still working on your garden! You started it two hours ago!" Gregory groans in frustration. He takes a hit from the zombie before finally defeating it. 

"I can't believe you are still living in a home made from dirt," Freddie says.

 Gregory sends him a dirty look. They've only just convinced Vanessa to buy Fazcraft for them, and it's already clear that they have very different priorities when it comes to gameplay. There's something so very satisfying about being able to obliterate his enemies without consequences. Something Freddy just doesn't seem to understand. 

Sighing, the bear moves his avatar towards Gregory's and gives a half hearted attempt to help him. His 4 story mansion's landscaping will have to wait.

Unfortunately for both of them, something explodes and both avatars temporarily cease to exist, leaving only a clump of flowers and a sword behind. 

"Aw, c'mon," Gregory complains, "Freddie, you're the worst."

"Now, Superstar-" Freddie begins. The incoming lecture about sportsmanship is interrupted by popup on the computer browser. 

Fazbear Entertainment Security Alert: Security Node 54b has been deactivated. 

"What the heck? That's all the way down in Monty Gator Golf!" Technically speaking, Gregory isn't even supposed to have access to the Pizzaplex's security program (even if he did help design it). He hacked in awhile back and then promptly forgot about it when nothing interesting seemed to be happening. He's comfortable with the way things are right now anyways. He's got a stable home, guardian mandated therapy sessions (because he doesn't already have enough therapist related trauma), and a robot sidekick. The payout from Fazbear Entertainment is pretty nice, too. He's not sure if it's a 'thanks for lending us your technological genius' or a 'stay the heck away from our establishment before you cause more destruction' kind of payout, but they're doing pretty well regardless.  

But if someone is deactivating security notes, that could change things for all of them. Gregory had probably better check it out. With one last belligerent look at Freddie, he opens the pause menu and selects Save and Quit. 

It doesn't take long to pull up security feed and begin searching for whoever is responsible for disabling various security nodes in and around the mini golf zone. Nor does it take long to actually find them. He is, however, caught completely off guard when he does. Of all the crazy things he's seen in his short life (and he's seen a lot of crazy things), nothing could prepare him for seeing Cassie running around calling his name, trying to find him. Especially when it's his own voice he hears replying to her. 

"That's… Not me…" Gregory hasn't even seen Cassie since school let out last summer. Where did she get the idea that he was at the Pizzplex? 

"Something or someone must be mimicking you," Freddie says worriedly. 

"You don't think it's… You know… That thing in the basement do you?" Gregory asks. He shudders. He hasn't personally met the thing, but he's heard plenty of stories from a few overly chatty Fazbear employees. Stories that would keep most kids his age awake at night. 

"I do not know, but we need to get that girl out of there before she gets hurt," Freddie tells him. 

"Or before she hurts someone else," Gregory says, trying to come off as brave. "Cassie can be pretty scary when she wants to be."

"You know her?" Freddie asks. Gregory nods. "Then it is doubly important that we keep her safe."

They follow Cassie's journey thanks to several conveniently placed security cameras, but there is little else they can do. The security nodes cannot be reactivated remotely. There's no lock down protocol they can use to keep her from progressing deeper into the Pizzaplex. Just the cameras. True, they could call the police. But what are the police going to do? They're trained to deal with human threats, not animatronics. 

Freddie and Gregory manage to speak through a few deactivated staff bots that Gregory hacks, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Cassie is determined to follow the other Gregory's instructions. Helplessly, they watch, hoping something stalls her progress long enough for them to get through to her. But unfortunately, it's only a matter of time before Cassie reaches the door to the sinkhole.

"Is that thing almost ready?" Roxy asks impatiently. She's not sure how long they've been down in Parts and Service, exactly, but it feels like it's been hours. 

"Roxy, I swear, if you ask me that one more time, I will use this system to upgrade your voice box so that it is off. Permanently." Helpy replies in an uncharacteristically annoyed tone. 

Wow. Roxy hasn't managed to get this kind of reaction from Helpy before - though she's definitely tried to. Just a little taste of his own medicine. He deserves it. 

" You said you'd have it up and running in a 'jiffy'. I'm pretty sure it's been longer than that," she observes. 

"Hot wiring the upgrade system isn't something I do every day," Helpy protests, "I'm usually more of a nodes and guidance kinda guy!" 

"Are you sure you know what you're doing? What if something goes wrong?" Eclipse worries. The Helpy image on the computer screen glares at him. 

"It's almost like you don't trust me."

"Maybe we don't," Roxy says noncommittally. She flexes her claws and examines them as if just noticing they need a new coat of polish. 

"Listen. This machine is super touchy," Helpy informs them, "Being off on calibration by even a single pixel of space could be very bad!" 

Roxy and Eclipse glance at each other as Helpy continues. 

"If we want this to go smoothly and not kill Cassie in the most gruesome way imaginable, you need to be patient. But I guess I could rush things if you really wanna risk it?" 

"No!" Roxy hastily assures him. 

"That's okay!" Eclipse says at the same time. 

"I thought so," Helpy replies, satisfied. Zeroes and ones flood the screen once more as he returns to what he was doing before the interruption. He begins humming the theme song for Freddy and Friends: On Tour, and soon, Eclipse joins in. Roxy rolls her eyes at first, but finds herself humming too, eventually. Hey - it's a distraction. And a distraction is definitely needed right now. So she commits to it. Because otherwise she'll just sit here thinking about Cassie and everything that could go wrong with what they're about to do. Which is exactly zero help. Possibly even negative help. (if that's a thing) 

"I didn't know you liked Freddy and Friends," Eclipse comments. Both he and Helpy are staring at her. 

"Oh. Well. Ahem. It's not that I like Freddy and Friends. It's just… Catchy. Yeah." Roxy tries to sound cool. Neither of her companions seem convinced. 

"Okay," Helpy says, shrugging. "I think we're good to go, now, but let's run a few tests just to be sure."

Given that Helpy doesn't have a physical form, Eclipse and Roxy take turns pressing the buttons on the Testing Console. Roxy vaguely remembers the system being used on her, but she's never noticed how game-like the process is. Blue. Red. Yellow. Red. Green. Blue. It's almost like the times she's played Simon Says with kids at birthday parties. 

"I think we've done pretty much everything we possibly can to test this thing," Helpy finally announces. 

"Time to cross our fingers and toes!" Eclipse says, doing exactly that (and more). 

"Come on, Eclipse. I need you to help me make sure Cassie gets strapped in right," Roxy tells the attendant, which forces him to detwist several parts of his body. 

Cassie seems impossibly small in comparison to the rather large contraption designed to hold animatronics. It's all wrong seeing her like this. Seeing her here. All broken and bloodied. It is so lucky Roxy couldn't stick around after she stole it's eyes. So lucky. 

"I think we'd better give her some of these. You know, so she doesn't wake up halfway through?" Eclipse holds out a few Moondrop candies. 

"You realize those things are so potent that they're practically considered medical grade narcotics, right?" Roxy asks, wondering how long the candies have been in his pockets. She quickly decides she'd rather not know, actually. "They're banned in over a hundred countries and are only legal in, like, Timbuktu, North Korea, and Utah of all places."

"All the more reason to give her some - the potency, not the legality," Helpy points out. 

"She should be at a hospital being treated by professionals right now. This is the best we can do to without help from outside, which we don't have," Eclipse reminds her. Roxy sighs. The Moondrop candies will keep Cassie more comfortable. They just happen to be extremely strong for candies meant to calm kids down before nap time. Just another questionable business venture by Fazbear Entertainment. 

"I guess anything we can do to improve our chances is probably worth it," Roxy finally agrees. 

Eclipse crushes several of the candies, mixing them with a little bit of water. Then he pours the mixture into Cassie's mouth. She instinctively swallow instead of choking, much to everyone's relief. 

"I guess we'd better get started," Roxy says. She's not sure she's ready for this, but she doesn't trust herself or the others not to talk each other out of their plan. 

"Procedure commencing in three…two…" Helpy announces. Countdowns are usually an exciting thing for Roxy. They put her in a competitive mood. A winning mood. Races, games, heck, even the occasional birthday cake have countdowns. But this one is different. They're playing god with a little girl's life and there's no guarantees that any of this will be worth it. 

"One…"

Hide Job Listings From Companies You Are Not Interested On LinkedIn (extension for Firefox & Chrome)

Have you noticed that some companies have a bit too many job listings on LinkedIn? Have you ever wanted to hide some of those companies from your suggestions? With the help of this Chrome extension "Hide Items By Link" you can do just that, as the name suggests you can hide elements by a given link on them, but it also supports hidding by any text you have selected! Select the name of the company then right-click it and click "Hide items that contain this text" and that's it; here is a gif showing as much:

This extension is also available for Firefox, which is important to notice has a more granular security model because it requires you to grant access to the extension for each domain (Firefox will show such prompt at the top right corner after you try to use it for the first time).

What else can it do?

Another useful thing you can do with this is to hide Google results from sources you don't want to see, as seen in the following gif:

It can also help you hide channels you dislike from the search results at YouTube, just right-click over the channel name and select "Hide items with this link".

this method is a bit more reliable than text selection but on many websites items do not share a common link (like the channel link in this case) so its not always possible to use this.
