top was tryin an experiment from a jakedontdraw short, wherein you set a brush to randomize color (but not value!) while setting the page to black and white, to show that value matters more in creating somethin recognizable than color, though i kinda fucked it up by doing a black and white photo with harsh lighting

second was trying out a new brush where if i go soft it goes light and go hard it goes dark, mainly worked out well since it made the image take less than an hour, but gives trouble when trying to blend edges and also results in random white specks about so it needs fine-tunin, but we're roughly satisfied

Done in honor of the end of my Saturn Return. Done in ~8hrs. Wanted to squeeze in a little more practice of painting without lines and painting something a little more ambitious than a bust. Happy with the results. Getting closer to the sort of digital renderin I would like to do. While I am a very fierce proponent of the sciences, I feel that astrology is a nice way of looking at things we might need to pay extra mind to in our day to day life. Can astrology predict the future? Of course not, that would be insane. Are they helpful suggestions of what we might need to focus on or work on? Sure. It is not gospel, but like all spirituality (not dogma, not religion) is a means of motivation and focus. For all you folks born with Saturn in Sagittarius, your 3 year long return, like mine, is ending today. I hope it was as fulfilling and enriching for you as it was for me. I can look back from 2014 to now and say that in pretty much every respect, I have grown and worked hard. Saturn falls in my second house, and that area has most certainly been the area with the most celebrated growth. I still feel like I am not entirely where I want to be in a lot of the same respects, but progress is nothing to sneeze at. All you with Saturn in Capricorn, strap in for a fiersome ride and work hard. I am actually quite fond of Saturn as an astrological force. No nonsense, structured, focused, ardent, motivated, goal oriented. Yes, very much the things I value in myself. (The symbol for Jupiter is added because for me they always go hand in hand, Saturn test, Jupiter rewards. Sometimes the lesson is the reward, or the progress for progress sake is the reward, but rewards will always follow hard work.)
