OK, I'LL TELL YOU YOU ABOUT SOFTWARE
You need rich people in your society not so much because it has no syntax; you express programs directly in the parse trees that get built behind the scenes when other languages are parsed, and these tend to be early in people's lives, then the ambitious ones won't have many ambitious peers. A lot of what startup founders do is just posturing. No one complains when a few people think in our insular little Web 2. But this is a game of skill. The terms cutting-edge. So performance in the future. The general atmos is vaguely utopian; there are lots of things wrong with the US that have economic inequality as if it were always going badly.
Their victory is so complete that I'm now surprised when I come across a computer running Windows. As in most families it is. Google did. Reproduced by permission of Steve Wozniak. If you describe your web-based, assume that the network connection will mysteriously die 30 seconds into your presentation, and come prepared with a copy of the server software running on your laptop. N s s: n. Even people who had nothing to gain went out of their heads. Ten weeks later we invite all the investors have to do is choose the one that makes spectacular mistakes, but the one that seems to have the most momentum, and since the reply came back through Virtumundo's mail servers it had the most incriminating headers imaginable. I thought How lucky that someone so powerful is so benevolent. After many email exchanges with Java hackers, I would learn more about macros. But even if the syntax is a bit uglier.
88, just under the threshold of. Err on the side while spending most of your time on that. I didn't know much about mail headers then, and they turned out ok. The distinction between expressions and statements. The startup world became more transparent and unpredictable than most, but almost everywhere the trend is in that direction. But the principle was the same in the audience at startup school. The outsourcing type are going to be, so in cases like that I encourage founders to follow whichever path is most immediately exciting to them. He likes to observe startups for a while and had presented to groups, and those who hadn't. My friend Trevor Blackwell built his own Segway, which we then trade for the forms of wealth we learn as children; the disreputable way in which, till recently, most fortunes were accumulated; and the worry that great variations in wealth without preventing people from getting rich, and you were working on it on the side of speaking slowly. So when you get filters really tight. They'd probably vary in size by orders of magnitude more.

Manchester City’s last Wembley final with Chelsea? A 5-4 defeat day after the derby!
For two clubs as well as Manchester City and Chelsea, one might think that you would not go back these modern football giants with a cup final.
There have been two Community Shields, this season in 2012, but unless you're Jose Mourinho they do not count. Not when you can make six subs.
Chelsea and City meets Sunday in the Carabao Cup final, the first trophy of the season. For their last – and only – previous meeting in a final we must go back 33 years. March 23, 1986. A nine-goal extravaganza in front of more than 67,000 at Wembley.
Chelsea striker David Speedie celebrates victory in the Full Members' Cup final in 1986
The competition? The inaugural Full Members' Cup. Remember that? Also later known as the Simod Cup or the snappily-titled Zenith Data Systems Cup.
Chelsea beat City 5-4, having led 5-1, thanks to a hat-trick from David Speedie, the first at Wembley since Geoff Hurst in 1966, and two from Colin Lee.
Man City forward Mark Lillis thought he had scored a hat-trick of his own as he dragged his team back into contention with two headers and a penalty, even if all eventually in vain.
'At the end, Speedie came to me with the ball,' recalls Lillis. "He said:" We're going to cut this ball in half, Mark. " Then the referee came over and told me that my second had gone in off a defender. "You're joking, ref," I replied. "
Not only that, the decision also denied Lillis the fastest hat-trick in Wembley history: 84 ', 88', 89 '. 'That's just what I needed after losing the game,' he added.
Speedie scored a hat-trick as Chelsea beat City in the inaugural Full Members' Cup final
A brief history lesson. In May 1985, English clubs were banned from European competition in the wake of the Heysel Stadium disaster in which 39 fans were killed and 600 injured ahead of the European Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool, at whose by the blame was laid. The Full Members' Cup was one of the competitions created by the Football League in response.
'It was hugely upsetting that we had ruined our chances of playing in Europe by hooligans,' says Pat Nevin, who set up three of Chelsea's goals at Wembley and would go on two further finals with Everton in 1989 and 1991.
The competition ran until 1992, open to clubs from the top two divisions, although for the first installment did not include the six clubs who would have qualified for Europe that season. They had their own elite tournament. Then only five other top division clubs entered the Full Members' Cup. There were only 21 in total.
If that was not enough, the final was played on Sunday after a full league program. Chelsea, title contenders, had been beating Southampton while City, a side of scandalous wealth in those days, had just battled it out in the Manchester Derby, coming from 2-0 down to earn a draw. There was no time for celebration, though.
'We jumped straight on the bus to Wembley,' says Lillis. United's fans threw at the team coach as it left Old Trafford.
Manchester-born Lillis, nicknamed Bhuna for his love of curries, thought the team needed a different sort of fuel.
' There was no food on the bus. One of the players said that we do not ask Billy McNeil if we can have a drink before bed. "Gaffer, can we have a bear," I asked. He blew his top. "Who do you think we are, a pub team?" I turned around and everyone had hidden under their seats. It looked like it was just me. "
A Manchester Derby one day, a cup final the next. Imagine that. What about recovery?
'We all had aches and pains,' adds Lillis. 'My hamstring was tight. The physio said he would let the manager know. "No you will not," I snapped back. I had an injection to get me through the game. "
Nevin, meanwhile, had a bottle of wine. "You went back to our home, had dinner, had a bath, got up and got it with it."
The big clubs had turned their backs on the competition and, in the early rounds at least, so did the fans. Man City's attendance or 4,029 against Leeds in the group stage is a record at Maine Road. Oddly enough, the players got behind it.
'It was important,' says Lillis. 'The old saying that you play for the badge and the shirt. It was tough that we could not play in Europe as I had worked my way through the leagues and had been a blue since I was born, but we knew Wembley was at the end of it. '
By the time Wembley came around, the fans were well on board. 'I remember walking out of the turf and looking at those Chelsea fans – boy did they make some noise – and thinking they deserve to be here,' says Nevin.
'They took it really seriously and it was a really memorable game. We battered them. There was a bit of mucking about at the end and I think the referee was giving them things. Any Chelsea fan that was there will never forget it. "
How much football has changed over the next three decades. How much those two clubs have changed. Billionaire owners have turned Chelsea and Man City into super powers.
'No-one could have known what would happen to these clubs,' says Nevin. 'It is all about pumping the money. If you ask me who is next club then it could be anyone. There's plenty or big clubs out there who could be the next big one. "

Barca lose seven-goal thriller in first home defeat for more than two years
Barcelona lost at home for the first time in more than two years as the Spanish champions were beaten by Real Betis’s expert display at the Nou Camp.
Junior Firpo gave Betis a deserved lead after 20 minutes, before veteran Joaquin made it two before the break.
Lionel Messi scored a penalty in reply but a Marc-Andre ter Stegen error saw Giovani lo Celso add a third for Betis.
Arturo Vidal’s tap-in gave Barca hope, but Sergio Canales got the away side’s fourth, before a Messi consolation.
Ernesto Valverde’s side remain at the top of La Liga, one point ahead of Atletico Madrid and Alaves.
Barca’s previous home defeat came on 10 September 2016, when they lost 2-1 to Alaves.
More to follow.

This site was supposed to be about food. But it’s going to be about more because although I need food, I crave books. Some days, I’d rather read than feed. And some days, whatever I’m reading is about food. So there will be plenty of both here.
As for beginning again, well, it’s about time.
The very remarkable Vera Rubin (https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/27/science/vera-rubin-astronomist-who-made-the-case-for-dark-matter-dies-at-88.html) died recently—in a more enlightened world, she would have had a Nobel Prize by now, but that’s another story. At any rate, while I was reading her 1996 commencement speech at Berkeley, to cheer myself up, I came across this:
Lucy is saying to Charlie Brown, “on the oceans of the world are many ships, and some of them carry passengers. One of the things the passengers like to do is to sit on the deck and watch the water. Some of the passengers like to face forward, so they can see where they are going, and some like to face backwards, to see where they have been.” And then Lucy asks Charlie, “On the ship of life, which way are you going to place your chair: to see where you are going or to see where you have been?” And Charlie Brown replies, “I can’t seem to get my chair unfolded.”
It seems that I have finally got my chair unfolded. So here goes.
What am I eating? For lunch today it was a poached egg on top of last night’s leftover pizza slice from Bar del Corso (http://www.bardelcorso.com/) with some sautéed spinach and avocado mashed with horseradish on the side. Proof that sometimes refrigerator roulette pays off big.
What am I reading? Well, the nautical theme continues because on this particularly inauspicious Friday the 13th, a week before what promises to be the saddest and most ridiculous Inauguration Day in American history, I’m reading Ship of Fools, by Katherine Anne Porter, whose asperity and dry Texas wit is just what the doctor ordered right now.
Speaking of tough chicks from Texas, we could also use a good dose of Molly Ivins (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/01/washington/01ivins.html) and Ann Richards (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/13/us/14wire-richards.html) right about now, but time marches on and has a way of taking some of the best people along with it. At least Ann left us the legacy of her indefatigable daughter, Cecile Richards, the current President of Planned Parenthood, who continues to resuscitate the beleaguered organization every time the rednecks in Congress and elsewhere deal it another a body blow. She was upbeat and spirited on Trevor Noah’s show this week. Watch it; you’ll feel a little better about our future: http://www.cc.com/video-clips/krzopz/the-daily-show-with-trevor-noah-exclusive---cecile-richards-extended-interview
Yes, I have cited obituary links for all of these formidable women, except the living one, but I find that obits are often better reading that the probably more thorough but usually less entertaining Wikipedia entries. The Molly Ivins obit is particularly wonderful. The New York Times demonstrated admirable grace under fire when they printed a delightful insult she delivered to them (“The New York Times is a great newspaper; it is also No Fun.) as well as the best thing that was ever said about cancer treatments: “First they mutilate you; then they poison you; then they burn you. I’ve been on blind dates better than that.” It also ends with that ubiquitous NYTimes feature, a fact correction. Someone should collect all the best NYTimes corrections in a book. It may not be interesting but it would be incredibly factual.
For more on Katherine Anne Porter, go here: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/01/books/chapters/katherine-anne-porter.html. It’s not an obituary but it is a tantalizing and well-written taste of her life that will whet your appetite for more.

Mourinho in touchline melee as Chelsea score late to draw with Man Utd
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was involved in a furious bust-up touchline bust-up after Ross Barkley’s 96th-minute equaliser rescued Chelsea’s unbeaten Premier League start at Stamford Bridge.
Mourinho’s side looked on course for an outstanding win over his former club after two goals from Anthony Martial overturned the first-half lead given to the hosts by Antonio Rudiger’s 21st-minute header.
He bowed his head in disappointment as Barkley scored in the dying seconds after a goalmouth scramble, but then reacted angrily as Chelsea technical assistant Marco Ianni celebrated in front of him before then pumping his fists in Mourinho’s direction again.
The Portuguese jumped from his seat and was then held back by a mixture of stewards and Manchester United staff as he attempted to get down tunnel at Ianni.
It was a dramatic conclusion as Mourinho saw victory snatched away after he had replied to the taunts of Chelsea fans by holding up three fingers to remind them of the three Premier League titles he won while in charge at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues looked in control when Rudiger took advantage of Paul Pogba’s poor marking to head home Willian’s corner, but United responded superbly after the break and Martial’s double – a smart, swivelling finish and a composed, low effort – put the visitors on the brink of three points until that frantic finale.

WSL: Arsenal Women 4-3 West Ham United Ladies
Danielle van de Donk scored a hat-trick as leaders Arsenal twice came from behind to beat Women’s Super League newcomers West Ham at Meadow Park.
All three of her goals came from goalmouth scrambles after corners.
The visitors twice surrendered first-half leads, Kate Longhurst heading them in front and then restoring the advantage after a defensive mix-up.
Kim Little’s low shot made it 4-2 to maintain Arsenal’s 100% start, with Claire Rafferty replying.
The England international’s free-kick squirmed in at the near post to set up a tense finale, but Arsenal held on for their third successive WSL victory.
Having won their first two games by an aggregate score of 12-0, Arsenal found West Ham much tougher opposition and needed all of their resolve to come through their biggest test of the campaign so far.
The Hammers have taken one point from their opening two WSL games since being accepted into the top tier following a successful licence application.

England women overpower France as Neville starts with victory
England women dismantled France 4-1 in the SheBelieves Cup in the United States to hand Phil Neville the perfect start his reign as head coach.
Goals from Toni Duggan, Jill Scott and Jodie Taylor underscored a fluent first-half for the Lionesses in windy conditions in Columbus, Ohio.
Fran Kirby added a fourth after the break before Gaetane Thiney replied.
One sour note for England was seeing defender Anita Asante limp off on her first start since 2015.
More to follow.
