Summary: While working on a new case in town, Wooyoung was captivated when he stumbled upon a beauty unlike any other. You tightly clenched your trembling fists to your chest, suppressing a terrified whimper as you listened to the brothel madam's devious teasing. You had prayed fervently that nobody would request your services, doing everything you could to remain inconspicuous over the past week, hoping they might see you as more suitable for hard labour; you'd much rather be the lowest servant than do any of this.

Yet, here you were, already with your first client, and not just any client—this man had gone as far as to secure your companionship for the entire day. Such occurrences were rare, even for the most sought-after courtesans in this establishment. You couldn't fathom who this person might be, how he had learned of you, and why he'd spend so much to buy your time.

"Wh-who is it? This customer..."

"Wouldn't you like to know? It's none other than the famous private investigator Jung Wooyoung, known for his significant role in aiding General Park's capture of former Minister Jang. reposting about my con experience with jared a few months later on here since laila bestie wanted to hear about it lol @rubyvhs <33 and since it was on my previous blog heh. probably more details from before because i was hugely freaking out back then lol

so i had a photo op with him and i did it with my sister!! that was first and then there was a panel with him, mark pellegrino, and alaina huffman!

it was very hot and humid in both places bc his photo op was the biggest so people were waiting outside and the door was open and all that. pretty poor circulation in his area unfortunately :,) and the q&a was in a tent outside thank fuck i brought my little handheld fan LOL anyways

it was hot... so he was all sweaty and flushed LOLLLL but someone on his staff was like wiping some of the sweat on his face in between the last photo ours so he was like "sorry, it's so hot!" and my sister and i were like "nonono take ur time don't worry." but obviously the photo ops are quite rushed so he brushed off the person helping out (politely ofc) very quickly so he could take the picture with us!!

also while i was waiting in line... i was setting my bag on the little table they had for them. and it gave a view of him and i was putting my bag down right as he ended his photo with someone. and when you're done he'll like look after you for a second and obviously i was staring at him. and you walk off i the direction of the table with bags obviously so you can grab it and so i made eye contact with him and he smiled at me before he had to take his next photo and i FREAKED LMAO i think he saw my face go 😳😳😳 shdkfhakjdfl. yeah

anyways back to the photo itself... i blacked out a little bc i don't remember the picture itself HAHA but as we walked up he was like "hi how are you guys :)))" and we were like "hi hi!! we're good thank you how are you??" and he was like "i'm good, thanks :)))" and idk if he said anything else because we took the picture and i blacked out teehee. and the whole time he was making such intense and purposeful eye contact i was like woah woah woah he's really tryna make this personal WOW !!!

but here comes the kicker !!!! basically he says like thank you all sweet and bye and all that but. but oh my god oh my fuck. i'd assume he does this for most folks but before/as we started to walk away he 100% gave each of us a quick but very sweet back rub and it fixed me. it fixed me oh my god. and i freaked out so bad LOLLLL i was like thanks!!! have a good day!!! 😳😳😳😳😳 @_@ kadkjflaskd and my sister and i walked away like... clinging to each other giggling like idiots etc. my knees buckled on several occasions. i sank to my knees in the line to get a second copy of the picture :,) and i need that again SO BADLY OH MY GODDDD it was so comforting and i think about it an unhealthy amount <3333

anyways happy to post the pic if anyone is curious! i look a tiny bit goof because of how hot and nervous if was. he is visibly flushed and sweaty as well though heart eyes heart eyes. anyways you can see his chest hair too <333 gorgeous man

“Another chrysanthemum?”

The voice from behind Kazuha doesn’t startle him, instead it brings him a cool breeze of relief. He had grown used to you sneaking up on him in the middle of a project. He found your presence more endearing if anything.

“I can’t seem to stop painting them,” He comments, swiping the red paint upwards into the shape of a petal.

In truth, they’re all he can paint as of late. Plenty of unfinished canvases decorate the floor of his studio, yet Kazuha finds himself starting anew with streaks of scarlet and evergreen.

He does it almost absentmindedly now, no longer needing a reference to perfectly trace each flower in full bloom.

Meadows of different styles sit in contrast to the white walls; an array of oil paints, gouaches, impastos, acrylics, and watercolors took up most canvases. The varying types depended on the day, how he was feeling, and what projects were being demanded of him.

Kazuha, despite perfecting a myriad number of techniques, was always drawn to watercolor. He loved the way the red bleeds on the canvas in the way his heart beats. Heart and soul, stem and petal. It felt reflective of his very being. More so, in how he felt around you.

The flower stands to be his only muse. Even while he has a commission due in a couple days, he resorts to this familiar field.

He assumes that’s the main reason for your appearance; checking in on him, knowing he has a deadline soon. You were always thoughtful in that way, making sure he was making good progress on his art and his health. No matter the reason, he was happy you came to see him in his studio.

“How’s the commission coming along?” You ask, though you’re sure to know the answer.

He smiles, a small laugh rumbling in his chest, “This was supposed to be it.”

It’s not the first time this has happened, especially recently. It’s nothing near what the customer had asked for, but Kazuha’s brush merely follows his heart’s desire. The commission will be done one way or another; it always was. Even if finished the dawn of the deadline, drying while sitting beside a sleeping Kazuha slumped over his desk.

“Didn’t they ask for a skyline?”

“Correct.” Kazuha traces a new stem.

He can hear your almost inaudible laugh, causing his smile to spread. Still, you don’t scold him. You’ve known him long enough to trust he’ll get it done. After all, you’re the one who ultimately takes care of him after he spends all night finishing one. Those are the mornings, or more accurately, afternoons, he cherishes.

“Why is this flower so fascinating to you?”

After seeing how the similar petals built up after weeks of painting the same flora, it’s only natural for you to be curious. It wasn’t his favorite flower, he had claimed when you asked him, so then why?

Kazuha knows the exact answer. He has a bit of understanding as to why he’s drawn to this flower, though he doesn’t find it necessary to share the finer details.

“It…reminds me of you.”

Kazuha doesn’t have to turn to feel your surprise. It was a vague enough answer to remain truthful without causing him to become flustered.

“Oh? Why is that?”

Kazuha pauses, trying to find the right words. The message red chrysanthemums represented was so poetic to him, and yet the direct meaning made his heart pound to say aloud.

“Oh come on,” You smile, playfully hitting his shoulder, “Don’t leave me hanging. What does it mean?”

Kazuha’s hand stutters on a petal, cheeks beginning to reflect the hue coating his brush.

His content smile falters a bit, instead being replaced by a smaller upturn. Kazuha brings his paintbrush back down to the palette and turns to look at you, the first time he has since you appeared in his studio today.

“It means… I love you.”

I love the composition of the 2nd page so much like how AliHaku has the inked action lines on the ground (Shadows? Beams?) pointing towards each other and connecting each other, and Judar-Aladdin too (the ones who mainly fight and oppose each other in the narrative)

Even the composition is interesting because the action lines surrounding Alibaba emphasize how he’s radiant just like the sun (Ooogh my son... My sun...) and he’s clearly the focal point of this page like when your eyes follow the page’s composition flow, it leads to Alibaba. Because of the size of the action lines and how they emphasize his radiance and bright personality.

But there are also action lines pointing towards and connecting JuAli and Hakuryuu-Aladdin, the true opposites, as Lumen described. Additions:  One thing I noticed is that the black action lines underneath Hakuryuu and Judar are darker.

And it does remind me of their narrative roles in the story as black rukh users who've fallen into depravity

Like it could be because of how those duos are the main ones who are put against each other in the narrative (have the most plot significance)

Could also be because Alibaba radiates such a bright light that he casts a giant shadows over the moons (Hakuryuu and Judar). 

Because the lines that connects Alibaba and Hakuryuu, and Aladdin and Judar, are darker on the end where Hakuryuu and Judar are standing

Or I’m looking too deep into it. Regardless of whether it’s true or not, it’s interesting to think about though

My friends and I have talked about JuAli and AliHaku being the Sun/Moon/Eclipse, and I should make that a separate post but for now:  

“A Lunar eclipse occurs when the Sun casts Earth's shadow onto the Moon”

And considering Judar is themed with both the black sun and the moon, he definitely also seems eclipse themed too because of this.

Fan-TLs and Official TLs: 

Though I should show Viz’s official TL as well. They tone down the "What about Alibaba charmed Hakuryuu?" line on the 1st page, but they keep it on the 2nd page thankfully.

Also, it’s interesting to read both the EN fan-TL by Sense Scans and the official EN TL by Viz, they both have their merits and downsides, though I’m overall pleasantly surprised with the both of them. They’re both interesting. I definitely have some observations to say about the two, as someone currently studying JP. Perhaps sometime soon!

Lumen mentioned it to me before but they said this, "Official TLs are definitely better in terms of phrasing but most of the ones I read are actually outright wrong about the meanings of some lines sometimes, while the fan-TLs tend to always be more accurate and I."

And yeah I agree with this, like official TLs are done by professional translators and typesetters, so they phrase things better in more natural sounding English and the typesetting is much better. Also the pages are much cleaner (obviously) cuz localization companies will have access to the original pages in digital form.

However, I'm used to reading fan-TLs for most of the series I'm into (though I've also been checking out official TLs for series that are more recent, including Magi) because I'm very curious to see the art in HD and an alt TL. 

Also, since fan-TLs are done by, well, hobbyist fans, I'll go easy with fans having to figure out how to translate the names/terms and typesetting. And like with many fan-TLs back from the 2000s - 2010s, Magi's fan-TL was scanned directly from the magazines when they released, which explains why the screentones, etc., are off and why it’s harder to see certain art details 

Fan-TLs are typically more literal, which is also interesting. Personally I prefer fan-TLs most of the time because they have better lines/wording and prose. And because they’re more accurate in terms of line meanings. Having more accurate lines and knowing what the text originally intended matters to me. I wanna know how the nuances of the text was carried over and originally intended to be read.

Also, when I read JP, my head goes through a process of reading the line -> getting a literal TL in my head -> then changing it to more natural English

But I definitely wanted to check out Viz’s official TL cuz it’s also interesting to read.

Anyways, Ohtaka your brain is massive. Magi was a weekly shounen and I literally can’t fathom having to churn out something of this level of art and writing quality almost every week.

It’s insane to me because mangaka deadlines, especially for weekly series, are SO tight. She had to draft story ideas and come up with brilliant dialogue, written with very specific intentions to show characterization (which fits the charas so well), and draft the storyboards and make such gorgeous art compositions with the detailed inking and genuinely superb, consistent storytelling writing which also connects back to the series’ main themes, like... I’m so impressed

(Switching it up and putting him first this time)

° He couldn't quite put his finger on this situation as he wondered through the alleys of King's Row. He saw you up ahead, jumping over walls onto stairs and trying to get away from him. To give yourself some distance to take some shots, but you knew if you stayed to close to him, those shot guns would rip you to shreds. You were a young up and coming in Overwatch.

° Jackie's new favorite, he was sure. You were fast, intelligent, agile, and Gabriel had gotten all that just from watching you fight. He could only imagine what it would be like to see you in full action. Too bad he'd probably miss it. He repostioned to be following you through the higher buildings, but he somehow had lost track of you.

° You were hiding. Smart kid. He listened for any sound he could when he looked over his shoulder as he heard a click of a gun loading right behind him. And there you were. Standing with your gun aimed directly at his head. He turned slowly to look at you dead on(teehee), and he took in your face. You really were a young upstart. In your 20s. Early 30s at most. He watched as your chest rose and fell deeply, keeping a steady gaze at his mask.

° "Smart kid," he stated out loud this time, and you wanted to wince at that deep voice but you kept strong. You cocked the gun you held, knowing full well it wouldn't do you any good. Reaper was known for coming back from the dead. That was who he was. A whisper. A ghost. "I bet you're the new favorite of the Overwatch team," he hissed, raising his own guns to point at you. You kept your gaze unmoving but spoke back.

° "A lot of good that does for me today, right?" You retorted coolly. You knew this close range would kill you. He could tear you apart with just one shot. You knew better than to get so close to death but... Without Reaper there, the rest of his Talon team would fall. He was the muscle, without the muscle, the payload could move forward. Distraction. Distraction was the key.

° "And they're going to leave you here to make your sacrifice. Good to know things never change," he spat, inching closer to the end of your gun so that the barrel was touching his mask. "It could be different, though."

° "I'm not interested so you might as well kill me now," you chidded him, unable to help the sassy tone in your voice. You didn't really have time to care if you angered him, but you were caught off guard when you hard a dark laugh come instead of a bullet.

° "What would be the point in killing you?" He stated sarcastically, cruelly. You keep the gun trained on him but he put his guns away in a relaxed way, your eyes searching him up and down in confusion. "But I do have a deal for you." You stayed silent but your eyes narrowed to show you were paying attention. "Join Talon. We could use a little more muscle on the team. And with a little training... A few upgrades... I bet you would be... unstoppable."

° "Doesn't sound like much of a deal, what's in it for me?" You asked, tilting your head to the side, an unamused look on your face. He did the same, cracking his neck with a loud snap.

° "I'll let the payload through, pull the operatives out, your 'team' members make it through another day."

° "And if I refuse?"

° "I kill each and everyone of them, slowly and mercilessly. And leave you, the only surviving member. How do you think ol' Jackie boy would like that?" He asked, taking a clawed hand and lowering your weapon out of his face and putting it so it pointed at his heart. But you looked on in confusion.

° "Jackie?" You questioned gently, not registering the name and this seemed to anger him.

° "Yes..." He hissed but he spoke no more on the topic, the empty eye sockets on the mask looking into your eyes, "Do we have a deal?" He watched as you thought about his offer and looked over your shoulder as you heard gun fire and yelling ring through the air. You narrow your eyes in thought as you turned back to look at him. This payload was so important. You needed to ensure its safe passage. You lowered your eyes and took a deep breath. You finally lowered your weapon, relaxing your grip on the trigger.

"Yes," he stated gently, suddenly wrapping an arm over you, trench coat covering you and suddenly the both of you vanished into the night. However, the shooting did stop abruptly, and the payload did reach its destination.

--6 Months Later--

° "Y/N?" 76's voice reached your ears but you didn't raise your eyes to look at him, but your gun was raised, aimed directly between his eyes.

° You looked different. You looked... Scary. He remembered the bright young recruit they had brought into the fold, and it was you. But you... Had been changed. Your skin looked dim, eyes bright red with wires seemingly laced into your skin, connecting to your eyes. The edges were black, the veins around your eyes black as well. Some more wires were evident down the sides of your neck. Moira and Maximilen must have had big plabs for you. You were wrapped in black combat gear, the Talon symbol sewn into the arm. You...

° "You..." He stated, but his eyes weren't looking at you anymore, but to the ghost of a man who had walked into the scene. You shook your head.

° "Jack." You said gently, raising your eyes now, glowing red looking into him. Gabriel floated over to stand behind you, looking into the man of story, of legend as told by Reaper. You kept your gun steady as 76 moved his eyes to look at you.

° "What did you call me?" He asked harshly and you shook your head again as if confused.

° "You're lying to all of us. You never stepped up and took control. You left it to Winston. You could have helped me, you would have found me," you stated harshly, eyes narrowed as your chest heaved.

° "Y/N, he's filling your head with lie--" he started but you cut him off quickly.

° "Morrison its either you or everyone else. He said he would call them off if I killed you, and spare everyone else in Overwatch," you stated weakly, your anger falling and a sadness overcoming you. You lower your eyes again, as some tears escaped you. You felt a clawed hand on your shoulder and you shrugged it off angrily. You stand up straight and point the gun with more confidence at Jack's head, face looking stone still. Jack's face stayed hidden behind his mask up until this point, but he sighed in defeat and rose his hands and clicked off the mask. He removed it from his face, revealing a scarred face, the face of a man who had gone through so much. You look upon it in respect, nodding gently. You still had tears streaming down your cheeks as you cocked your gun. You look at his features, studying them.

° "You look like Gabriel," you stated gently, meaning the scars on his face. Jack laughed weakly.

° "No need to add insult to injury, cadet," he stated firmly, but he gave a smile, "Make sure its you that does it. I don't want that mistake taking me out," he added bitterly. You nod firmly and speak.

° "He made a deal with me. He said I would do it to save everyone else," you state honestly. You keep the gun aimed at him and you add, "Thank you, soldier. For everything." Jack nodded with a smile and he sits his head back against the wall. More and more tears stream down your cheeks as Reaper stood behind you still, watching on, behind the mask there was so much want to see this. So many years. And he got Jack's favorite to do it. He was taken back when a sob escaped your lips. You really were Jack's protege. Even though he had lied to you about his identity, you felt close to him. Gabriel felt a twinge of jealousy enter his heart. But as he heard you yell suddenly and loudly, screaming out your heart, your anger but the gun went off and Reaper sae Jack's blood splatter all over the wall. He watched as you fell to your knees, hands covering your eyes as you cried weakly. Jack Morrison, Soldier 76, Ex-Commander of Overwatch, was dead.

° Gabriel heard gun shots ring closer to where you two were and he called into the comm, "Move back, target down. Retreat and leave survivors." He quickly wrapped you in his trench coat and the both of you disappeared in a swirl of smoke.

At the rehearsal, and doing the show, The 9 people in CHICA#TETSU and Ame no Mori Kawa Umi were really, really cheering us on and watching over it, When the intro ended, the three of us appeared, and until the outro ended, there were a lot of cheers and warm gazes sent out way from everyone, so Truly, thank you very much! I'll do my best more and more. There isn't much that I can do right now, Compared to the two of them, I lack confidence and sparkle, And though I often feel frustrated, When I see the purple, green and blue penlights, more and more!! I put my spirit into it.

I want to sing "Bravo" next time and show everyone my growth!!!!

The day after tomorrow is An individual handshake event in Osaka~ It's been a while!!!!
